Interior, so much to look at! (2/13/23)
    Marie B.

European Foods is located next door to Friendship BBQ in North Seattle, one of those retail/restaurant sites that I finally took the time to explore. Just this month, I have stopped in with The Homie on three occasions already (2/13, 2/17, and 2/23/23). What has been the total haul thus far: Spezi (orange+cola soda), various kinds of Kvass, sunflower halvah, Milka hazelnut milk chocolate bar, chocolate raspberry biscuits, and delicious honey cake. Reasonable prices with well organized, well stocked shelves with a variety of items. There's an adjacent onsite restaurant in addition to their retail shop. A worthy detour along Aurora Ave N/Hwy 99.

Exploring different foods, Ukrainian candies :) delish. Like Lindt with nuts. ($9.99/lb)

New owners, they are Ukrainian. Old Russian couple ran the store for 19 years and sold the business and retired. Trying the menu at European Foods: Eggplant salad (4/5), chicken cutlet (5/5), cabbage rolls (5/5), Ukrainian dumplings (4.5/5), spicy carrot salad (5/5), borscht (3/5), poppy butter bread (4/5). Will come back to try chicken kiyu and their Olivier potato salad.

The best European food I had so far in Seattle! Highly recommend! Love it, definitely I will be coming back here again!

Herring salad, kvas, kotletu (ukrainian style meat) and mashed potatoes. Everything was so good!

Rating only for the food we got delivered via doordash. My hubs and I ordered the borscht, cabbage rolls, and pelmeni. Each dish was delicious! The borscht was definitely our favorite, as it had a lot of flavor and pieces of potato, beans, and shredded beets for texture. That paired so well with the pelmeni, which were filled with meat and super savory. The cabbage rolls were good (order came with three). We will most definitely be getting food here again!

    Potato dumplings or varenyky

So far we only tried their frozen potato varenyky and they were soooooo good! I boiled them and added some fried onions with a salad. Perfect Ukrainian dinner!!! So happy to have such great quality food! Can't wait to try more!

Sliced ham @EuropeanFoods (Seattle) that dark lettuce tastes fresh from the garden

Non-pretentious and non-kitschy, European Foods just north on Aurora is a one stop deli and convenient Eastern European market. It's where a person like myself who's never traveled to Eastern Europe can feel like a tourist within Seattle while supporting local. Imported meats, pasta, spices, cooking sauces, ice cream treats and a wide selection of chocolate items line the shelves of this quaint space. Hearing that custom sandwiches ($5.99) are made to order, we ordered a bologna and also a deli ham, made of regular wheat bread, deli meat, sliced white cheese (couldn't tell if it was mozzarella or provolone?) tomato, and one had a very hearty dark lettuce. It was fun taking a dive into their bulk bins for some imported chocolate and I look forward to trying all of them over time and finding some favorites.

The T&T in Lynnwood doesn't disappoint at all. While it is smaller than the Factoria location, we do not personally have any complaints. The place is not always packed like the Factoria location and that is a a relief. We primarily use the food & bakery sections, live fish, and frozen food sections. One can say they are a bit pricier in comparison to places like Ranch Market who have similar options but we T&T is closer to us than Ranch Market and so we prefer to go here as it is more convenient. They are special items during Boat Festival every year and we absolutely love the bun station during this time. This is also a great place to experiment with a lot of not usually found Asian alcohol in main stream supermarkets unless you are specially going to a specialty shop.

There is not as much store space, so there is less selection of everything. I found the aisles to be cramped compared to Bellevue. Even when the Bellevue store is packed, I can meander around the crowds. It felt like a maze at this one on a busy weekend afternoon. There is a 99 Ranch nearby in Edmonds and I do prefer it over this T&T based on selection and price. If you do live close to Lynnwood, I do think it is worth shopping at for the T&T private label products and items that T&T carries that 99 does not. But I am going to stick with shopping at the Bellevue location because it is superior to this one.

The selection of pastries and breads is vast, and they have many classic Mexican pastry options, such as (what I think is called) a concha. They come in multiple colors, but the yellow stood out to me. It's chewy with a slight crunch and perfect level of sweetness and a light fluffy texture. I don't have any other pastry to compare it to, so you'll just have to get one for yourself! The price was great too, the pastry and a bottled water was $3.91. The cashier was efficient. It's not much to look at from the outside, and the inside isn't anything special. I was also hoping an employee greeted me when I walked through the door, but it wasn't a big deal. If you are looking for a quick snack that's authentically Mexican for an exceptional price, make sure to visit Plaza Latina!

Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #103…read more This review is specifically for the BF Cafe & Bakery located inside the Edmonds Ranch 99. I wouldn't normally get boba here, but Ranch 99 was offering a $2 boba promotion at BF Cafe with $30 grocery purchase. I might as well try the place for just $2. Green Milk Tea ($2) - Strangely enough, the first flavor to emerge is the taste of coffee. I wonder if there is some contamination going on here. Perhaps the water dispenser they use for the tea is the same as the coffee. After the coffee taste, there's a bit of smokiness and bitterness. Finally, a layer that's like an unpleasant concentration of Chinese herbs. Like a mixture of wolfberry, jujube, and whatever else is in a Chinese herbal medicine concoction. It's not a pleasant taste and reminds me of what my parents used to treat me with when sick as a child. I didn't adjust the sweetness, but it's surprisingly not very sweet. Probably 25% sweetness compared to most boba shops. The boba is not made in house and is preportioned in plastic packs, like in premade boba kits. The texture is decent, perhaps a bit leathery and firm in chew, but decent bounce levels. Since they only use a single pack of boba for a 22 ounce drink, there's not nearly enough (typically a single pack is for a powdered 11 ounce drink). Milk Tea Rating: 1.5/5 Boba Rating: 3/5 So yeah, the drinks served here aren't the best. I haven't bought any pastries or bread from BF Cafe, but I'm sure they are better.
