I have been to this decent Vietnamese place twice with a group, having been there because they do separate checks. The spot has been moderately crowded every time, with there clearly being a lot of locals who go here pretty often. The service is friendly, though a bit haphazard, with some dishes taking a lot longer than others, and a bit of confusion, but hey, it's a reasonably priced place. To drink, I had a Vietnamese Iced Coffee/Ca Phe Sua Da/Cà Phê Sữa Dá, which was $5 or $6. This wasn't too sweet from the condensed milk, which is my preference, and was tasty and refreshing after the hot day. I started with the Shrimp Summer Roll/Guoi Cuon Tom/Gỏi cuốn tôm, which was $8.50 for 2 pieces. The summer rolls were good with plenty of fresh veggies, a nice chewy outside, and a few large shrimp per piece. However, I really disliked the peanut sauce as it was very watery compared to most good places, and even compared to some of the bad Vietnamese spots. If the peanut sauce were better, I would recommend it more. The last time I had a Combination Pho/Pho Dac Biet/Phở Dặc Biệt, and I remember it being standard. This time, I went with the $16 Pho Bo Sate/Phở Bò Sa Tế. The flavor was spicy as listed, and the meat inside was pretty tender. This had a large number of noodles and a handful of vegetables, otherwise. Again, this was decent. This isn't my favorite Vietnamese place in the city, or close, but the food is decent and gets the job done. If you're looking for standard, pretty tasty Vietnamese food, I would recommend this place. read more

This place has been in the neighborhood for 15 years and I just discovered it! Food is great. We try the pork spring roll which tastes like fried dumpling. So good. No frills vietnamese restaurant. Its one of the two spots that I come to get vietnamese food in the area, with great ambiance and ample amount of seating. The staff is incredibly accommodating and kind. Their menu is really large but the only things I've been getting here is the combination pho and their dry vermicelli bowls. Pretty good but nothing super special. I like that they have a lunch special but those items do not include any of the noodles, just stir fry with rice dishes. I'm not sure if I caught an off night but might be one of the worst I've had. I ordered the classic with extra meat. The sandwich came out and very large size and good portion of meat...especially extra was mostly extra ground pork. There are a few things that make a banh mi stand out. 1. The bread 2. The meat + mayo 3. The daikon + carrots + spice First off the bread was soft and chewy like a hamburger bun, not crunchy like a classic banh mi. Second, the sandwich was missing the mayo. AND they forgot the ham and pate. THE TWO BEST PARTS. With the extra meat it makes the sandwich very dry. Third, there was no spice option. Seek elsewhere. I'd say this is more a fusion asian restaurant rather than a truly Vietnamese cuisine, the brisket stew pho i ordered was alright, broth on the bland side, the noodles are soft but lack of flavor due to bland broth, beef stew pho is with tomato paste, and the papaya salad comes with coarsely shredded papaya, good amount of peanut butter lacking that limey and citricy flavor a real papaya salad is typically dressed. They do have liquor license, hot and cold sake, beers are served. The space is well decorated w asian themed, dimly lighted, comfortable booth seats and larger table. I stumbled into this hidden gem in the search for food near Methodist Hospital. I found out the hard way that they're closed on Monday's, they really need to update their site. The food is constantly good, from the Pho, grilled pork chops to Lemongrass shrimp all very tasty, along with the yummy fried rice. You also get a great deal with the lunch specials. The service leaves a lot to be desired. Although the staff is pleasant, it sucks when our food is delivered at separate times. I waited 20 minutes for a side order of grilled pork chops, that was ordered with everything else. I'm also highly disappointed appointhat I paid $10 for one tiny piece. Came here on a a Thursday evening and was able to get a table right away. The place was half full. We got served right away. The four of us ordered 3 bowls of bbq chicken pho and one beef pho. Along with an order of spring rolls. The 3 bowls of chicken pho came at different time. First one bowl of the chicken and the beef came, and about 4 minutes later the two other chicken came. I told him that we had a party of five, so he put together two small tables with four chairs and asked if he could just pull up an extra chair on the side. Those tables are tiny. After he brought us our food, he never came back to ask if everything was okay or if we needed anything else. It was very bare bones with the service. The portions were really small. This is my go to local Vietnamese place. Great lunch specials. They deliver a local distance if you call. I highly recommend you get the spring rolls! It's the whole reason I come here! There aren't many Vietnamese restaurants in Brooklyn that make the crispy spring rolls. They are absolutely crispy and delicious. The price is a bit high for 8 spring rolls, but it's worth it. The pho is good; however, the portion is small for the price. In Philadelphia the portion is double the size and less money. The pork chop vermicelli is delicious. Okay, Vietnamese guy here. I think some of these reviews need to take into note that - and I am only assuming - that this place cooks pho like they do in Hanoi. Which is completely different from South Vietnamese pho. So depending on what you are use to, you might not find it as "full" or as "flavorful ". If I could give them a 3.5, I would. I think their pho is fine. Not the best. Not the worst. I lean in the 3.5 because i just wish I got more out of the portion. Especially if I'm gonna pay $14 for a bowl of pho. Service was fine.
