One of my first pick-up experiences during the Covid crisis and here's how it went. Perfectly. Sarah Jo was SO nice and easy to work with - I had lots of questions about the menu and she patiently answered all of them, even gave me recommendations when asked. I also had several friends order from there so we could minimize everyone's exposure, and even though some of them called in their orders last-minute, all of the food was hot and ready for me to pick up. I felt very good about their safety protocols, lots of hand sanitzer, gloves, etc. But on to the best part - the food. My family ordered a lot of food so that we'd have some leftover for the next day. Ha! Oh, wait, now I see why they are called Ha! Because the joke is on you if you think you won't eat every morsel. I grew up in the south so I love comfort food. Something about the way these carbs are prepared makes you want to lay around in happiness until you digest. The food at Ha! Does a good job at that. The venue is small and cozy with a bar that seats about 12-15 and about 8 or 9 tables. I popped in for brunch right after a grueling workout and was ready to eat. Fortunately, the service is fast and I got my order in within minutes of sitting down. The biscuit and gravy I had was excellent and reminded me of the ones I would eat all the time in the south. Experience: the food was really bad, after work we needed to go home fast because it was not seating well in our stomachs, my hamburger was burned (meat and bun) and my husbands food had a piece of metal that got in between his teeth. Terrible experience that only deserves even one star due to fresh squeezed drinks. I had to get up from my table to go to the bar for EVERYTHING for the server to remember my existence. I asked for medium well, and got a leaking and red mess. I asked her beforehand if they could cut it, as previous places informed me that makes it easier to cook, and she said they don't know how to cut a steak, and said due to a language barrier she is not even going to ask them. I ordered the crab scramble (with spinach and Gruyere cheese). Your choice of salad or potatoes. I chose potatoes. It wasn't fishy at all. It was really good. I ate the whole thing and will come back to order it again. They served my food with toast. It was super good. Perfect crispy crust and soft inside. I don't usually eat toast but with the honey they have on the table I couldn't resist. I ate my friend's toast too! The potatoes were good. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. My friend ordered the steak and eggs which they wouldn't do hardboiled (with salad). Slightly annoying. I tasted the steak. It was ok. Not particularly tasty and on the dry side. We realized after getting it that we weren't asked how we wanted it cooked. The salad was bland. I'm not a huge fan of balsamic dressing that's sweet. They don't have a huge selection of menu items but I definitely want to come back to try their brioche French toast. I just couldn't eat anymore today after the scramble. Son of a gun, we are dirty and nerdy, and the game is coming up, just leaving the Fremont Abbey after doing some excellent volunteer work... so down the street, I'm looking for food and a TV. HA! is the answer, a local bar, restaurant, with simple goods to order, and really looking into this place, you don't expect much. Okay, instead of thinking this is a downward spiral, this place actually is pretty good. With any good place that is local, there are foods that you just expect, a burger, a melt.. but because we are in Seattle, the melt is Dungeness Crab, and the Burger is really a great tasting pulled pork delight. The décor is pretty awesome, as you might notice after a minute, the walls are painted in gradient shades of color, the washrooms also! Oh, speaking of that, the men's washroom light switch is on the outside of the room, so you might be looking for a moment if you can't find it. The food is delicious, and the server is pretty kick ass. I appreciated the awesomeness of the local feel, and if I'm back here near the Abbey, then I'm all for it. Tried Ha! for the first time yesterday. We arrived mid-day to have lunch and a few weekend cocktails. The overall vibe is relaxed and cozy. The service is also pretty relaxed - read 'slow'. Regardless, the woman who was our server initially was friendly and helpful. She also made a mean margarita. Delicious! Unfortunately, this is where the goodness ended. The food looked great...but was generally bland. The tomato soup was super oily - not sure how that happens. The grilled cheese was really greasy and the crab sandwich I ordered had a lot more brioche than crab salad. Then our server left and the guy who took over for her was not good. The one margarita he brought me was really sweet and not very cold. He forgot another drink we ordered. Generally, he seemed interested in hanging at the bar chatting with regulars. The truffle fries are some of the best in the city...for real! Their BLT was expertly executed. Met a friend who lives in the neighborhood for lunch. Definitely a small local spot. Parking could be a bit of an issue. First thing I saw was the bar on the right with pretty much everything you need for cocktails and a TV. Felt right at home when the staff invited us in. Vibrant, homey, cool bar spot to watch the game or just to be treated to the classic staples. From the breakfast menu, we got the chicken-n-waffle (13$) and dungeness crab scramble (13$). Originally we were served the lunch menu, which was disappointingly more limited and generic... but after seeing our neighbor order fabulous omelettes and sandwiches, we had to have the breakfast version! The crab scramble was actually crabby pretty much throughout. Though you couldn't see the pieces, you could definitely taste it in almost every bite. I did get a piece of the crab's white cartilage INSIDE the eggs, which was a little scary! Potatoes that came with the scramble were plain and super dry. The chicken and waffles were just alright... especially the overly fried ONE piece of chicken with very very dry insides, like a Thanksgiving turkey gone thirsty. Syrup had a heavy artificial sweetness it. While the vibe of the place was great, including the surround sound speakers to watch the game, I wasn't really a fan of the food quality unfortunately. Ha! is a mediocre experience at best. I've had brunch 4 times now - I live in the area, so it's convenient hangover food or easy mid-priced brunch. Take-Out Experience: I've picked up take-out orders from Ha! twice now, but on neither occasion was my food ready within the estimated timeframe, so I've had to hang around waiting at the bar. I once picked up an order of the eggs Benedict, but the poached eggs were overcooked and HARDLY runny. I've also done both chilaquiles + huevos rancheros, but both dishes are extremely soupy. They absolutely drown the dishes in sauce + soupy black beans. Once, I added avocado to a dish but it was clearly unripe and rock solid, so basically inedible. read more

Sausage and gravy biscuits were by far my favorite meal, the basic breakfast of eggs/bacon/toast was just OK (nothing that your can't make yourself), and the huevos rancheros was a pathetic excuse for huevos rancheros. Although the food here is reasonably tasty, the overall dining experience leaves something to be desired. We've given them a few chances, thinking maybe our poor service the first time was an exception, not the rule. Unfortunately, they've never gotten our orders completely right, the service is incredibly slow, and it's common for servers to forget requests for water, condiments, etc. The bar seems to be a hangout spot for the bartender's friends, it's always pretty loud and draws the servers in to chat and hang out, rather than helping out customers. I'm hoping this spot's service can improve, because the neighborhood would benefit from a relaxed, fun bar space where people can get their food and drinks in a timely manner. read more
