We were next but they seated another couple before us despite them not having reservations. I'm assuming one of the employees knew them, so they seated them first without calling anything out. Haan is definitely our favorite korean bbq restaurant and a great way to finish off the night of happen to be shopping at Coquitlam Centre. Haan does not have a huge menu like some of the bigger korean bbq restaurants but that's fine as what they do have is what we crave for. The meat is perfectly marinated and the side dishes are tasty. Their customer service is second to none. I do recommend that you go there early as there is always a line-up. And if there is a line-up, don't forget to write your name on their wait list. read more

A very nice Korean BBQ restaurant. Cozy ambience and no noxious smell. Youbget to cook your food and eat it right away steaming hot! There's a minimum order of 2 meats for BBQ, which are served with the usual side dishes and 2 bowls of rice, plus lettuce and boiled cabbage which are healthier add ons. There are other choices like hotpot and other entrée items as well. They serve hot tea, just ask for it. You can also ask for extra side dishes too. So far, this is the only Korean resto where i like the kimchi, not so sour and spicy. Customer service is quick and servers have a smile on their faces. Price wise: they're $$ for me. Came for my birthday dinner. Food came fast and was reasonably good... we preferred the cheaper $15 beef cut vs the $30 rib steak as that was a bit on the chewy/ fattier side Food was good overall Staff were nice but they were a bit slow with taking the dirty dishes and giving the bill My 3yr old had a great time watching us cook and playing with the chop sticks and utensils. I want to give this place a 4 but I can't. It's a 3.5 rounded down to 3. Let me break it down for you guys. Side dishes - The kimchi, spicy daikon, and potatoes were all spot on. No complaints. Bibimbap - The same can be said about the stone bowl bibimbap - Good ingredients, huge serving, nearly perfect. Meat - I ordered the non marinated top grade beef. I think this is where I went wrong. The meat quality was pretty good, but it lacked flavour. Should've gone with the cheaper marinated stuff. The beef tongue was just 'ok'. I think the pieces were sitting in the freezer too long. It didn't feel fresh. It just didn't have a good bounce to it. All in all it was a pretty solid meal and it has 4 star potential. I'll be back to try their other dishes. read more

Definitely don't recommend. We waited at the entrance for 15 minutes until someone acknowledged us in which they saw us because we were right in front of them. When we were finally seated our waiter never turned on our stove, we had to ask another waiter because our waiter wasn't ever around. It wasn't even busy. Besides brining out our order, our waiter never asked if we wanted more food, or refill our drinks. He offered to refill our drinks once when we asked for the check. Love this place! You are gonna be surprised - but the highlight of my meal is consistently the deom jeong ji gae (bean paste soup). I came here with my family (a group of 6) as my relatives had recommended this place. It was quite busy and a little bit small, so we waited for about half an hour to 45 minutes maximum. As soon as we sat down, we were given beverages (tea and water) and were able to order as soon as we had finalized the dishes we wanted. The food was great but for a group of 6, I would assume they would have bigger portions. The sizes were a bit on the smaller side so we had to order a few more dishes. The japchae was good. Originally we asked what it was (since we saw it on somebody else's table) but I guess the lady assumed we wanted it, so it got brought over to us. I guess it was a good thing since the original dishes we order wasn't enough for all of us. Overall, a good experience! Fast and efficient service, we will definitely be back! read more

First time here, had to wait a bit because I came right at dinner time (7pm). Food was surprisingly good. Was given lots of sauces for the bbq which was great. Seafood pancake was filling and big portions. Price is decent. Around $30 for the meat for 2 people but with big portions. Restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. Would come back again. read more

Came here on December 16th just to find a unorganized host/server. Most places would give an approximate time on wait, however not in this case! If you work in the industry, you would know how long the average table sit time is. I would not mind waiting, had the host stated 15-30 minute wait, I could of went to the store next door to buy a lottery ticket. Instead she insisted I wait. After the wait of 34 minutes since I got in at 6:36pm and got my table at 7:10pm I see other people having shorter wait times. Now to the food, why is the kimchi so dry? I got seated near the front door and my food was cold within minutes, never the less having to eat with my winter jacket on. Overall the food is great but servers and establishment needs to step up customer service and pleasant feeling. My friend and I showed up here at about 1 pm on a Tuesday afternoon. It wasn't super busy.. just relatively occupied like any Coquitliam restaurant around lunch. We were sat immediately. Both her and I looked over the menu and sat and waited 30 minutes. Nobody came to our table, nobody acknowledged our existence. Eventually nearly 40 minutes of waiting we just got up and left- not even then did staff say a word to us. Food is tasty but a bit on the expensive side which i dont mind since it was good quality Korean bbq however the waitress have poor customer service skill... there was only our table and another table to serve but it takes us forever to get her attention to bring us a glass of water. hands down favorite place to go for Korean BBQ. They don't have the selection of other BBQ places but they are highly affordable and good quality. For $12 for the cheapest meat (pork Rib) you get a lot of stuff. They also have pork belly (basically it's super thick bacon) ($15 or $17 forgot exact price )and a special peppery oil sauce to dip it in. The service is awesome and the only time there was a problem was when it was crazy busy. otherwise: great place, good food, and great extras. read more

I never thought I'll be giving Haan 3 stars but our last experience really left us with quite a bit to talk about as we were leaving. I agree with the review below that predicted that they may have had a recent change of ownership and that service has gone down. To sum Haan up, this is a Korean bbq restaurant with non-Koreans serving who dont know how to work a Korean bbq restaurant. The two wait staff that were there when we visited on a Saturday night were frequently missing from the main dining area or just not looking at the tables. They seemed to have this mindset that Korean bbq meant providing the basics at the beginning of the meal and that's it. Flagging them down to take our order was even difficult let alone get additional banchan or tea. We observed other tables having the same difficulty and the wait staff frequently having issues figuring out what was what in terms of what different liquor they served. They seemed clueless to the different types of soju they had and were referring to things on the menu wrong. They also changed the sourcing of their meat to a lesser quality. We had our usual 2 servings of pork belly and while the quantity was more then usual, the quality was far worse. If I had to guess, I would predict that they switched from an actual butcher shop to a grocery store bought packagdd meat. I also noticed that they changed the taste of their banchans and jjigae to accommodate a foreign taste making everything a lot sweeter then what it should've been. We left feeling very disappointed and knowing that we will most likely not return for awhile because Haan basically lost every competitive advantage it use to enjoy in the Korean bbq industry. read more

At first, I wasn't impressed with Haan. The service was pretty slow (only one waitress working) and the poor girl seemed a bit harried. She also didn't know much about the food as it was admittedly her first week (?) on the job. We asked for a side dish that we weren't sure was on the menu and she had never heard of it. Also, the menu is kind of problematic, as it doesn't say what comes with the BBQ (side dishes, rice, etc). The prices are pretty steep and the menu is short. However, after we ordered (my husband and I ordered Galbi BBQ) they keep the kimchi and garlic/lettuce coming. The service was slow at first but they won me over by keeping us stocked with side dishes and sauces. I do wish they had changed our grill grate as we got closer to the end of the meal as everything started to burn. I wouldn't come here again, as it's out of our way and there are lots of other places closer to where we live, but it was pretty good and I left full and satisfied. read more

HAAN Korean BBQ is probably the best you'll find this side of Vancouver. Ambience is very modern and fun, and the food is excellent quality and very reasonably priced. A generous plate of marinated pork was 12 dollars, and it was 15 dollars for beef. Side dishes were classic and well done, as was the soon tofu. Service was friendly and helpful, despite the restaurant being full. Definitely worth a visit! read more
