We love Habaneros, but this branch has deplorable customer service and terrible management! Location: 1221 23rd St. SE, Salem. They refused to fill our drinks to the top and gave them to us 3/4 full because we asked for no ice. When I asked the window attendant to fill the remainder of the cup, she refused, stating it was because we asked for no ice. She then refused to give us a refund for the drinks. After I left my number and was told I would get a callback from a manager--which never happened--I called the next morning and had a terrible experience with the manager. She initially refused to give her name and argued that "all food places" shortchange customers who order no ice. Most shockingly, she told me the only way to get a refund was to bring back the "untouched" drinks from the night before, which is an impossible and illogical request to make of a customer the following day. It's a shame to see such poor management at this branch driving away loyal customers over a few ounces of soda. ** We hope corporate looks into this! read more

The only days I'm able to! So boooooooooo! I now have no reason to go here, as there is another Muchas closer to my house. I went like any normal day and I have always ordered the potato tacos they have but the service is usually rude when being completely polite to them. Muchas How we have loved you through the years. When my daughter was in high school and we lived in the north state, we found this delightful treat. For a Montana girl it was heaven beyond Taco Bell ( ewee) and we craved it. My daughter graduated and moved across country. We joked about out love of Muchas nachos and its been a staple in our food sources. Then I moved to Salem only to find FOUR Muchas within walking distance. I was in heaven, daughter in OK, jealous. Fast forward 10 years, we both live near the State street location. We still have a fondness for our history. But I have to say there are better places, but Muchas is best for late night munches, huge breakfast burritos, and nachos with all the wet stuff on the side or its a disgusting mess, as would any nachos. So good. Authentic Mexican. Good prices. Quality food? It's good, stuff you would find at a house with a good old fashion Mexican cook. It is consistent. One thing I have noticed is the stores seem to be owned maybe by different fractions of the same family, so sometimes there are odd differences in product. I love the State location, I am happy they are keeping alive a old traditional place, the old Duck Inn. I will always love Muchas, even though, after living in the Bay Area for 8 years, I don't love it like I used to in high school. I don't think it's bad, just not as good as it once was to me because I've now had so much better. It seems like a lot of people say they get sick from Muchas: I never have. I also don't eat meat so that might be the difference. I usually get the vegetarian burrito (no lettuce) or the bean tostada. At this place, I've lately only had the vegetarian burrito or the super quesadilla. Vegetarian burrito = good, quesadilla = not so good (too much sour cream and guac, which is not something I thought I'd ever say.) This location is super cute with the benches by the creek. So I really like this MG; it's not perfect, but sometimes it hits the spot in the middle of the night. I miss the 24 hourness of it all, since I work for myself, mostly at night, and sometimes I need to get out & stretch my legs. Whoever said they thought they were going to be murdered in the drive-thru - Why?? It's tiny businesses & homes all around, man; I walk there late at night. The clientele can be...colourful, again especially late at night. But they probably think the same of me. Now, the food: I keep reading reviews of some of the more common dishes & wonder if anyone's *looked* at the rest of the menu. :-) Breakfast burritos? The mere *concept* is disgusting, folks. If I have to do breakfast, I get a ham quesadilla. Also, someone talked about how some of the dishes come out cold. *Ask them to make sure your cheese enchiladas are heated.* I've always had the things that should be hot, hot & cold, vice versa. My *personal* recommendations? Don't get the usual done-to-death Mexamurrican crap. If you want that, go to Taco Time, Temple of Bland Done Wrong Mexamurrican. My favourite things on the menu so far: the tacos adobada (some call them pastor). They're basically marinated pork fried up quick & crisp, served in soft corn tortillas with basically deconstructed chimmichurri - diced onion & cilantro on top, a lime wedge to squeeze on the side. Hilarious to me is breaking in the new cashiers, who can't seem to believe that a gringa doesn't want diced tomato & shredded lettuce on everything. The other thing I love you have to know to ask for to get? Tamales queso - that's right, cheese tamales. Made with cotija & cheddar inside the masa shells, they're served enchilada style, heated up & with red sauce over them, a pool of crema & a mound of shredded lettuce, to add or ignore as you will. You have to ask for them, and they don't always have them, but usually. Those come out almost too hot sometimes. Almost every time I go in, I get somebody looking at my tray, asking me what I'm eating & then ordering one of the items. I listen to people ordering, 'cause I sit for a while when I go over, and let me reiterate: you folks are expecting too much of a dish that's gross and a bad idea to begin with - breakfast burritos. *shudder* Just say nay, give them a miss, and try some of the other dishes on the menu. Someone mentioned the rolled tacos were fabulous - they are, and they are *always* generous with the guacamole. The chimichangas are delicious - you can have hot or mild chicken in them, as well as just about any burrito done as a chimi. My husband loves the massive meal nachos aka carne asada chips - he always gets more than he can finish at a sitting, and again they are generous with the guac. I also love the creekside location, especially when it's hot out. I wish the location was larger, but there's just no way they can squeeze an expansion into the lot unless they buy the property next door - and I think construction may have even started on something on that. read more

In Oregon, these chains are a rarity, but try going to South Texas and you'll find lots of places (and chains) similar to Muchas Gracias. For what it aims to do - provide fast, cheap, Tex-Mex food - it accomplishes that goal. This particular location features a duck on the sign, a relic of the old Duck Inn. The drive through is just yards from Mill Creek or you can sit and eat your meal at a picnic bench while listening to the creek - and traffic whiz by on State street. If you plan to order indoors, be aware that it is small and cramped. Servings are enormous. Dishes are often hit or miss. Try a few different things before deciding whether or not this place is for you. It's a good place to find students or other youngins ;) late night. It can also be popular with the lunch crowd. Open 24 hours, they also offer breakfast burritos - just don't try to eat one of those and drive, because they're two-handers for sure! read more

The capitol street location of Muchas Gracias is the old Duck Inn restaurant that used to be facing the ever-so-polluted Willamette River. Granted its one of the smaller Muchas Gracias locations, it still packs the excellent service, awesome prices, and delicious food that all of the others offer. It is perplexing to me how food this good, can seem so authentic, so fattening, so cheap, yet so addicting. Its a shame this can't be found everyone in the US. Do not go here sober. There are a few choices. The Oregon Burrito- A favorite among locals, reliable, big, bland. Won't make you puke Regular burrito- When it's vegetarian things usually go smooth. Literally. Also stays fairly well for the morning after hangover munchies The cheese enchiladas- Bold choice my friend, bold choice. Among all the dishes at Muchas I have ever gorged myself on, the cheese enchiladas have always remained my favorite. The Colorado sauce is actually flavorful and tasty, probably because it most likely comes out of a can. Projectile every time, been eating it for years. I advise this dish for seasoned muchas veterans only. Machaca- It's a burrito with egg in it, scrambled. That makes it a breakfast burrito. It's good at ANY hour. Hot sauce is mandatory for this beast. Quesidilla- Reliable, but specify what you want on it. It's really a balace issue. Do I want to just fill myself up? Do I want to enjoy my food? Love the employees. Not a fan of the new menu. I eat here 2-3 times a week. Thank goodness they can't ruin an Oregon Burrito. The change in fish taco's was a big mistake. Lengua burrito is excellent The old menu when it was Muchas had two corn tortilla's for each taco now it is just one with a new sauce that isn't as good.
