I doubt there is a bad Habit location anywhere. It is one awesome local burger chain. At least every single one I have been to in Ventura County has been awesome including this one. Located in the same center as the Morgan Stanley building it is a pretty easy place to find. I was here again tonight and ordered a grilled chicken sandwich on sourdough with BBQ sauce. The sourdough comes out all toasted and buttery and just adds a great quality to the sandwich. It was... A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Like usual. With fries and a drink the whole meal was about 9 bucks...not too bad for a great freshly cooked fast food type meal. Now I have to spend my days deciding between Hook and Habit. The HABIT is definitely my favorite place to get a REAL burger. I normally get the Charburger W/ CHEESE no onions combo. Their fries are good- and everything about the burger is good. They make the burger when you order it- so everything is pretty much fresh. You just have to be careful about going their at lunchtime because it can get pretty busy there. PS. I've ordered here probably 4 times to give chances over and over again. Not once was my order ever made right. I am an assistant manager myself and the level of disrespect/no empathy or sorry for my hamburger being wrong not once but twice. The first time I ordered online and went to work to see it was made wrong, came back and got it remade 3 times before it was made right. Came in today to give it another try considering this location is closest to my job, not only did it take 3 times again for my order to be made right, not once did i hear an apology for the inconvenience and you would think maybe let's check their food before handing it out. The Habit burger is delicious! When I have a craving for a burger I always think about this place. THey have amazing turkey burgers, fresh meat, fresh veggies, grilled onions and a hot wheat bun! Doesn't get any better then that!!! Their fries and onion rings are also very good. No matter which Habit you visit you will get delicious quality food. I've tried the chicken sandwiches as well. If you order from the habit make sure you pick it up, if you have it delivered you won't get your drinks! Ever! We order all the time and drivers NEVER forget our drinks! The habit will try to blame door dash. The habit does not place the drinks with the food like a smart person would do. Why put them in the other side of the store? But because we have brought this up multiple times and we have to go pick up our drinks even though Ive already paid to have my food delivered is a huge waste of time out of my evening! Usually a fan of the Habit of Ventura and Camarillo, but this Habit here in Oxnard did prove a bit disappointing. In a world of burger joints on every corner, it's hard to get excited about "getting a burger." Well, more fool me. I was helping my mom do some shopping at the Esplanade and we were hungry. I suggested we try the Habit, which I'd been hearing good things about for years. But it never seemed to be a convenient stop till then. Darn! I think about all the average burgers I've eaten in recent years when I could have been coming to the Habit, even if it's not as convenient as other places. Grrrrrrr. Now that I've had one of their burgers (well, 1 and a 1/2, to be precise) I wish I'd made a special trip long ago. I can unequivocally say that the Habit's basic burger (I got a double) is the best "basic" hamburger I've had in many, many years. Maybe decades. Seriously. In fact, it may be the last "honest" hamburger around. On the surface, it was nothing special. A bun, cheese, some patties, lettuce, tomato, sauce. But OMG! Everything was so fresh, and the quality so good, my head nearly exploded! And best of all, it reminded me of the quality burgers you used to get many, many years ago. The beef was excellent, the cheese sublime, the bread perfect. It came piping hot from the kitchen, with the onion rings I ordered, and those were awesome too. Thanks to the Habit, my hamburger quality meter has been completely re-calibrated! About the only burger I've had recently that comes close to the Habit is Red Robin, and their stuff is more expensive. So, Mom ordered the Santa Barbara burger, which has avocados on it, and french bread instead of a bun. Friends, it's to die for. I was so stuffed after eating my burger, I really didn't think I'd take more than a few bites of the half Mom couldn't eat -- and the rest of the beef would go to the dog. But after one bite... well... I couldn't stop! And before you know it... it was GONE! Yikes! The only downside here is that the Habit may be a real threat to what's left of my waistline. After much thought, this is REALLY comparable to In n Out, with the latter being more superior. Took to the boyfriend when we got in to town, and I had the regular burger and fries and he had the double. The burger was good, fries good (of the thicker, steak variety), and the service and wait was typical. Only reason I knock off a star is because their fountain drinks, water and lemonade all have a funky old-water sewer after-taste. I only drink distilled, so not sure if its because my palate is extra sensitive. I bring my own water bottle or wait to get home when thirsty. I've been eating at the Habit off and on for many years. Some of the older locations in Ventura used to sell beer before, but have long since stopped. Still, the burgers are great, but I will add that I sorely miss the hot dogs and the chili that once graced the menu back then. I solely buy the charburgers here. Which depending on my mood I have with either grilled (white) onions or raw (red) onions, avocado, cheese or even bacon. I order the combo and that completes it with fries and a soda. They also offer pastrami sandwiches, but I find their pastrami too fatty for my tastes. Also available is an albacore tuna sandwich which is very good, but can be dry at times. They do offer salads as well. Your best bet hitting this Vineyard location is just before the noontime rush or right after that. If you're ordering a large take out order, be sure to check the bags to be sure your order is correct. They have been known to forget or place the wrong item in some. I went into the vineyard location last night on 9/4/2022, around 9:40pm. When I first walked into the door, there was 2 workers at the front. One giving out the food orders and a cashier, but while I was standing there, they both did not acknowledge my presence. The girl giving out orders was having a full on conversation with the cashier and seen me standing there. Then, the cashier left the front telling the other girl "I've been knocking on the bathroom door and no one opened it, their probably doing a #2" and laughed. Then walked away, while I was still standing there ready to order still not acknowledged. I waited for the cashier to come back to order which took a while. I ordered a chicken Cesar salad, that's it. I didn't think they could mess up on that, but right when I got my food to-go, I got comfortable at my kitchen table and opened my food, just to see that they put teriyaki sauce drenched on it! I never asked to "add" sauce onto my Cesar salad. It was just frustrating because I was super hungry and don't even live close to go back. I love going to The Habit. Every time I go everything is made fresh and the staff is friendly. I've gone to multiple locations and the quality is always there. I always order the Double Char Burger with either fries or onion rings. The Double Char is a two-patty burger that is cooked on an open flame. It has all the fixings and it is amazing! I usually eat the burger with banana peppers to add a little kick to it. For the fries, I dip them in ranch dressing. It is a perfect combination. They also have milkshakes that are made with real ice cream. Do not let this burger joint pass you by if you are hungry for a burger. I have been to The Habit before when I was younger. Before I didn't put much attention about service because it wasn't something I cared for. Recently I have visited the The Habit in Oxnard, twice, and have had an awesome time each time. I had to show them some love and appreciation for their great service. Each time I have walked in to be greeted by happy employees. Each of my 2 visits as I waited for my food I noticed how the employees really had good relationships with regulars. Even as I walked out an employee opened the door for me, and the food was great, fresh and different than any other burger restaurant. To conclude, I love the experience and the food, awesome place.
