We tried Hollywood Beach Cafe on our first morning of vacation, and I'm not even joking when I say we ended up going every single morning for three mornings in a row! Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. Everyone in our group ordered something different, so we got to sample a little bit of everything, but my personal favorite was the Hangover. Their cappuccinos were also really good, and we loved the pancakes, bacon, chicken fried steak, chili, spicy chicken sandwich, and honestly... the list goes on and on! The restaurant was very clean, and the staff was incredibly friendly. There was a little bit of a wait when we went later in the morning, around 10:00, but when we went earlier, we were seated right away. If we're ever back in the area, I already know exactly where we're going for breakfast! Hollywood Beach Cafe will definitely be on our must-visit list. read more

While what I've had of the food over 2 visits has been okay - not great but mostly good. The service has been awful. Especially the hostess. Waitresses try their best but seem stretched too thin to be very attentive. You are made to use Cakes online ordering and wait list program which is less than ideal because of their slow WiFi. While waiting for a table you are updated on your place in line. On our last visit we waited as next to be seated for 20 minutes as multiple large parties showed up late and were seated immediately. We were told they were friends of the owner and there's nothing they could do but the staff hates it- for what that's worth. Today my Avocado toast left much to be desired. Sourdough tastes like dry thin sliced white bread. Small amount of smashed Avocado; not enough to cover the bread topped with less than fresh pico da gallo, arugula a balsamic drizzle and 3 slices of tomato that were marinated in Italian dressing. All things I like but the combination was not good. BLTA used the same disappointing bread, flaccid under cooked bacon a tiny amount of pesto aioli and more avocado then there was on the avocado toast. Kids mini pancakes were good but chocolate chips are $1 up charge. I will say yesterday's eggs Benedict was good- hollandaise is excellent. Breakfast potatoes were a bit undercooked. Bloody Mary was a bit weak in my opinion. After all of that- I got a look at the receipt and there is a 2% BOH RevShare added to the bill. My best guess is this is fee to help pay the kitchen- To be honest we went here because it was a short walk from the Hilton. After the poor service, bad quality and hidden fees- we would be better off eating on the resort. read more

The place is cute. The dog wall was especially cute. They had a variety of items in the digital menu which included pictures for each dish--that was helpful. I would not say the food was amazing, but it was good. I ordered the chilaquiles, which was a hard dish to score high for me. I'm very picky because my mom makes the best ones! A great place to dine near the ocean, my friend and I stayed at my residence near Oxnard beach. Our beach house, this restaurant is right by the beach and we decided to eat here. I wasn't too hungry so Martin just ordered what he wanted. He ordered the cowboy burger combo with fries and a soda. The burger I had a small portion was okay, it was not bad, fries cooked well and tasty. The ambiance was nice, lots of people, service was friendly and relatively nice. The ambiance of the beach nearby is pleasant. A lot of the menu items are found through scanning a QR code in your phone to prevent users from looking at a paper menu. We love it here! A fantastic mom & pop local community breakfast/lunch spot! Great location, awesome service! And we love their dog friendly patio! Super busy here (as always) and everyone enjoyed their food, I had to send back my breakfast sandwich back for a redo because the cooks burned the bread so bad, squished thin as paper, burned to a crisp and I do not even know how they allowed it to leave the kitchen like that? But our server was a doll and had them remake it for me and it was awesome! I really hate sending food back but this? It needed to be fixed. Anyway I will always highly recommend dining here! Arrived here with my family for breakfast at the tail end of a our stay at Zachari Dunes and we were seated promptly even though the restaurant was busy. Our server greeted us kindly and took our orders. Their cappuccino was amazing. The order arrived quickly. We had the breakfast burrito, The Dude Omelette, the Denver Omelette and peanut butter stuffed pancakes which were all super delicious and the portions were epic! I used to frequent this establishment when I lived in Ventura County. Never had a bad meal. We recently visited the area and took wife there for the 1st time. She ordered avocado toast with eggs and I ordered corn beef hash with poached eggs, and by far one of the best renditions of home made corn beef hash to date. We had a great Valentine's Day brunch at Hollywood Beach Cafe! We joined the Yelp waitlist while walking over from our hotel and ended up waiting only about 25 minutes for a table around 10am, honestly impressive for Valentine's Day. The process was super easy and made the wait feel seamless. We were seated on the "outdoor" patio, which was absolutely delightful. It's covered, so it feels like you're inside, but it's still open-air and pup friendly, which we loved. They even have a pup menu and bring out little metal water bowls. Our doggo was living his best life. The menu is large with tons of options. We initially tried using the QR code (which is great because it includes photos), but ultimately asked for a paper menu, sometimes it's just easier to flip through. My husband ordered The California (eggs, bacon, and pancakes). This breakfast also comes with toast and your choice of potatoes. We upgraded to the chili cheese tots, thinking it was just a small upcharge from the standard side, and didn't realize until we got back to the hotel that we were charged $8 for them, which was a bit disappointing. That said, the tots were tasty (just eat them quickly because they cool off fast!). His eggs were cooked perfectly, but the $3.50 upcharge to add blueberries to the pancakes felt steep, and the bacon was mostly fat and a bit overcooked. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros with poached eggs, and the eggs were absolutely perfect. The dish was bursting with flavor. My only critique was that the beans were a bit too liquid-heavy, which made the tortilla very soggy, I couldn't finish as much as I would've liked because of that. The Bloody Marys, though? So good. Highly recommend! We both loved them. Our server was pleasant and friendly. Oh and there was a Char Man hot sauce on the table that was EPIC! Just and foremost our server on July 17, 2025 was awesome! The restroom had a line and our server did us the favor of letting my wife use their employee restroom. So HIGH MARKS for that level of customer service. Secondly, they greeted and seated us immediately. The space was a bit cramped, an entire family came in with the plague because they were coughing up a black lung, and it can get loud. We ordered only one thing as I was the only one hungry. I got their Hawaiian Loco Moco "The Crazy Burger". It was a 10 out of 10! A Sweet and Savory flavored comfort food, drenched in rich brown gravy goodness. My son said he will order that next time so that I can order their Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs. I noticed a wall of Beach Dogs. Speaking with one of the personable service assistance, he said that they are customer's dogs. The breakfast is good, food is hardy. The noise is unbearable if you sit in the patio area. They have had a squeaky bearing on their A/C or exhaust unit for the past year. They don't seem to want to fix it. I could only imagine they don't make repairs to the inside either. If you're looking for a quiet place to eat, this is not the place. You might want the wear earbuds or airpods to keep the noise level down unless you like squeaky annoying noise. Coffee is Italian, was strong, hot, and refilled often, which is a win in my book. My friend got the huevos rancheros and wouldn't stop talking about it between bites. Tips: Get there early! My husband and I were visiting from Las Vegas, where we're fortunate to have access to some incredible restaurants. The service was kind of good. It took an hour and a half to get in and there's a bunch of people after us and they still let them in. If you're friends with the manager, they just let you in and we're dying of heat. And the Wi-Fi is very bad, which they have online menus. And the hostess is really rude throughout the whole sitting process but the food is good my dad's mayonnaise covered only an inch of the PLT. The bacon was not even cooked right and the tomatoes were marinated in Italian dressing and my mom's food was pretty bad and my dad normally makes his plate clean. He did not do that this time. We decided to share the salmon Benedict with the addition of avocado at the suggestion of Tezra. Sooooo happy to have stopped by. This spot used to be Mrs. Olson's in its glory. One of my faves back in the day . This spot though is top top on my list. Sooooo good and the service is amazing. Top notch! We sat in the patio and thankful there were heaters. Such a cozy area. I got the Denver Omelette but swapped the ham for bacon. I asked for the hash extra crispy and they delivered. Delicious. There was an issue with my dish and Brook was kind to fix it immediately. No rolling of eyes , no attitude or frustration , just kindness. My friend loved her meal too. Perfect for breakfast and then a walk along the beach . I will be back and bring more friends! This location is perfect . There's no beautiful views but it is perfect ( as mentioned) for a walk along the beach after or before some grubs. Wanting a brunch by the beach with an outdoor patio. Hollywood Beach Cafe in Oxnard seemed to be a good fit. Plus they have a call ahead waiting list. Labor Day at one PM we thought there might be a long wait. They did have our waiting list reservation but it was no problem at that hour - lots of empty tables on the patio and inside. Jo Jo, our server, came by right away to get our beverage order. They have a fairly large breakfast and lunch menu so we needed a few minutes to decide what to get. I ordered a build your own omelet ($20) with carmelized onions, mushrooms and sausage with a side of tater tots. DELISH!!! My wife got the Ventura County breakfast with sunny side up eggs, ham, and breakfast potatoes. We ended up sharing the potatoes (the tater tots were the better of the two). Good food, good service. The ambiance on the patio was a bit of a disappointment (a walled off area so no beach ambiance). They add 2 percent for "back of the house" fee. I think I paid $40 including tip for an eggs Benedict and espresso martini that I honestly had to force myself to drink because it just tasted super bitter and not right. Service was great though which is why I rated 3 stars. Our waitress was super friendly and chill, she offered to take our drinks back since we didn't seem to like them but we refused as we had already drank some of it and were planning to leave soon at that point. But the fact that she still offered showed great customer service! This restaurant is literally right on the beach, like you walk out and the beach is maybe 5 feet away or less haha. Parking is awful though cause it's of course limited due to the beach being right there and it being in a residential location. They do have tons of seating inside and I liked how dog friendly they are, I believe they offer food for dogs! And there were cute pictures of dogs also. Good little spot right on the water. I came during the off-season but I could see this place being packed during the summertime. They have a breakfast menu that goes till 3 PM and you can even make substitutes for sides to be the chili cheese tots! My friend and I split the Reuben, which was huge and plenty for two people. I will warn you that lunch does not start till 11 so if you are looking for any lunch item prior to them, it will not be available until 11 PM on the dot. We did a mimosa flight, which was a great concept, but too much sauce in the bottom of the flutes and not enough champagne. The servers are very nice and always checking in on you. read more
