Grilled Hamburger Patty Bowl: Serves a grilled beef patty with brown rice and veggies for $7.00. They do have rules for dog here & to keep everyone safe: Dogs must stay on a leash and remain on the ground (no sitting on chairs, laps, or tables). Dogs cannot eat directly from your personal plate or drink from your glass. Today I came here with my family , upon entering I noticed how super clean it was & so we're thru restrooms, highly organized & attention to details. The atmosphere here was very welcoming, inviting, warm & cozy. It's so spacious here, so many seating areas inside, longer booths , 2 seater booths, larger party tables, chairs& tables , high tables & chairs (Bar Area) & outside chairs & tables. As we made our way to the front desk we had the pleasure of talking to Matthew, Kate, Grace & Sarah the host & Hostess they were all so sweet & kind. Matthew showed us to our table quite the gentleman. Next Josiah our waiter came over and asked if we had any questions & he answered them all beautifully! I did ask him what happened to the Chicken Parmesan? I don't see it on the menu, he told me he could still make it for me! I was beyond thrilled. I had a very disappointing experience at Lazy Dog. I ordered the Mediterranean Chicken Bowl with double chicken, while a family member ordered the exact same bowl with the standard single portion of chicken. When our food came out, the amount of chicken on both bowls looked essentially the same. The only noticeable difference was that the chicken on mine appeared to be chopped into smaller pieces, making it look like there was more. I brought it up to our server, who was polite and said she would speak with the manager. The manager, Tyler, then came over and immediately insisted that what I received was the double-chicken portion. Instead of actually listening to the concern or comparing the two bowls, he seemed more interested in arguing with me and proving that he was right. At that point, I decided to send the food back because I wasn't going to pay an additional charge for double chicken when I appeared to have received the same standard portion. The biggest issue wasn't even the food--it was how the situation was handled. Tyler came across as rude, dismissive, and more interested in throwing his authority around than resolving a very simple customer-service issue. A quick comparison of the two identical bowls or an offer to correct the portion would have solved everything. I decided to try this place out by myself on a whim and even though I get nervous going places alone, I felt so welcomed and taken care of, which washed away any anxiety I had. The Elderberry Lavender Spirtz also deliciously helped calm my nerves lol. Josiah was my server and they were the sweetest! Please ask for them if you go. A manager brought out my dessert as I was headed to the bathroom and made a funny comment: "be careful someone might steal this!". 10/10 service. Food was also delicious and fairly priced. Cajun fries changed and it's so disappointing. My husband and I went recently and he ordered the Cajun fries. When they came out we thought they were regular fries because they looked identical to my normal fries. We told our waitress who told us the cook forgot to put the seasoning on top but offered to bring Cajun seasoning to sprinkle on top. So apparently they changed the recipe to regular fries with a sprinkle of Cajun seasoning on top. We've decided to cancel our beer club and go elsewhere from now on since those fries were one of our favorite things on the menu. read more

Great lunch yesterday on our way to do some escape rooms. We've eaten at a Lazy Dog in Fresno before and everyone in the group really enjoyed it so we stopped by this one for a meal. I had the fried chicken sandwich and it was delicious. Chicken was nice and moist, Havarti cheese and IPA mustard made for the perfect combination. The fries were hot and crispy and were the perfect addition to the sandwich. My wife had the veggie enchilada casserole and really liked it. It was a little too spicy for her but she said the flavor was great, everything seemed very fresh as well. I am not about to stroll into Oxnard and pretend I am some linen-shirted coastal ethnographer with a tote bag full of artisanal certainty. I had never been here before. I was merely a road-battered pilgrim, six hours removed from Oakland, washed ashore near the freeway at the velvet fringe of Ventura County, in that glossy new development called The Collection, where every building looks as though it was approved by a committee whose mission statement was: Let there be ambient lighting and retail optimism. My dinner choices arrived like mildly desperate contestants in a televised pageant. Cheesecake Factory told me the wait would be twenty-five minutes and that they would text me. Reader, I assume that text is now trapped in a ravine somewhere, being nursed back to health by quail. Then there was some steak place whose name dissolved from memory before I finished looking at it. So into Lazy Dog I wandered, hungry, tired, spiritually fragile, and very open to persuasion. And I have to admit: the place has a certain charm. From the back at night, Lazy Dog is weirdly enchanting. The warm lights, the patio glow, the bottles shining through the bar, the whole thing looks like a lodge designed by someone who wanted to seduce exhausted motorists into believing life is still full of promise. Yet the actual entrance is oddly easy to miss. The restaurant is basically playing hard to get. A chain restaurant with mystery. A flirt. A woodland princess in practical shoes. Inside, the vibe is part upscale sports bar, part polished suburban den, part "let's make everyone from picky teenagers to diet-conscious moms to semi-hungover road warriors feel included." Buffalo Wild Wings, but after therapy, better lighting, and a semester abroad. The seating is not what I would call voluptuous. You are not sinking into a cloud of velvet mercy here. But the room is lively, social, and good-humored. It hums in that specific modern way that says yes, you may order tacos, noodles, a burger, or a cocktail with fruit in it, and no one will judge your lack of culinary allegiance. The cocktail situation was fun. I had the raspberry sangria, which tasted less like old-world wine-country sophistication and more like Hawaiian Punch got hired by a vineyard. It was bright, sweet, cheerful, and only slightly ridiculous. A prom queen in a stemmed glass. I did not hate it. I also did not see God. 3/5. Service was reliable, friendly, and sincere, which in today's dead-eyed hospitality landscape feels almost mystical. No fake grandeur, no attitude, no emotional frostbite. Just kind, competent people doing their jobs without making me feel like an interruption in their evening. That deserves respect. The menu is broad enough to make you nervous. Burgers, Italian-ish things, Thai-ish things, tacos, bowls, pizza, noodles, probably a diplomatic treaty if you ask politely. Usually a menu this sprawling suggests culinary panic. But Lazy Dog somehow lands on the right side of chaos. Not transcendent, not revolutionary, but steady in a way that is more useful than many trendier places would like to admit. The fried hard-boiled deviled eggs were the surprise star. In theory, this is the kind of appetizer that sounds like America whispering, "What if we made the picnic more reckless?" In practice: very good. Crispy outside, creamy inside, faintly absurd, and impossible not to admire. 4.5/5. The shrimp tacos were also solid. Bright, fresh, avocado doing its usual California diplomacy, pickled onions bringing color and sass, and the whole plate looking just photogenic enough to make younger foodie civilians feel seen by the algorithm. 4.3/5. The shrimp Thai noodles were decent too. Not an oracle, not a revelation, not the kind of dish that makes monks ring bells in the mountains, but flavorful and more than respectable after a long drive. 3.8/5. That may be Lazy Dog's real strength. It is not trying to be a sacred culinary temple guarded by tattooed sommeliers and fermented foams. It is trying to be open late, fun, dependable, and welcoming enough to make a tired traveler feel the night still has one last good chapter in it. And after six hours in the car, that is not nothing. That is grace with parking. So no, this is not the hidden gastronomic throne of Oxnard. But it is a lively, late-night, good-energy landing pad with charming exterior glow, sincere service, fun drinks, and better food than a cynic might expect. Would I come back? Absolutely. Mostly because Lazy Dog fed me, comforted me, and acknowledged the passage of time, which is more than I can say for Cheesecake Factory. Also, points for being open until midnight, because some places close early as if adulthood itself should have a curfew. I saw the positive Yelp reviews including one from a Yelper that I know...so I decided to try this place. I was surprised to see that it looks like many a chain restaurant in terms of layout. Very large restaurant. When I entered no one was there to greet me. The host desk had nobody there. I grabbed a menu to look over. Finally someone came to seat me. Not only was the sandwich a mess to handle with overfilled egg salad, but it was so salty that even eating half the sandwich was a struggle. I usually take a doggy bag when I have leftovers, but I had to throw out the half sandwich and most of the tater tots, which were pretty bland even with the dipping sauce. $15.95 for an egg sandwich is a lot, but you don't mind paying it if it's good. This place has the best customer experience I have received since 2 months of trying out new restaurants in Ventura. Victor was my server and he was absolutely amazing! Very welcoming and attentive, always checking in on me with pleasant energy and demeanor. With that said, the pictures of BBQ Ranch Bacon burger called to me and that's exactly what I got when I visited this time. It comes with fries and the amount of food you get for the price is well worth it. The burger that I ordered medium rare was juicy and the bacon had sweet taste to it that really makes the overall taste unique. I do wish I had asked for no pickle and for grilled onions if possible. The one thing that might have really pushed this burger to an even greater level would be if they had grilled the buns to make them crispy. The normal French Fries were also an absolute delight! Perfectly crispy and cut. I would say the expectation of it being a BBQ burger was not as expected though. We were seated in a booth near the bar & our waitress wasn't very friendly she didn't engage or leave a memorable impression, she came to the table were at table 123 according to the receipt, we tried to ask her about the menu she wasn't very helpful she acted like she wanted us to just order & hurry up! The brussel sprouts were perfectly crispy and the cheese topping it was great. Warm up the candy bacon when they give you the choice. I wanted to share my experience at Lazy Dog on Monday around 1:00 PM because, while we had one issue that was pretty disappointing, our server Jonathan was absolutely wonderful and deserves recognition. I arrived a little after my family, and they had already ordered drinks. When I sat down, I ordered the same drink and then ordered my food shortly after. Jonathan was incredibly attentive and friendly from the start. Unfortunately, the drinks were another story. We waited and waited. My parents had already ordered their second drinks, our food arrived, and we were well into eating before any of the drinks showed up. Jonathan kept checking on them, apologizing, and going back to the bar multiple times. It was very obvious that the delay was completely out of his control. From where we were sitting, we could clearly see the bartender. The restaurant did not appear very busy, and she seemed much more focused on chatting and laughing with the one customer sitting at the bar than making our drinks. At one point, I was honestly tempted to walk over myself, but I didn't want to make a scene over something that should have been handled without us having to say anything. What really saved the experience was Jonathan. He was so kind, apologetic, and genuinely seemed embarrassed by how long we were waiting. He even brought us dessert because of the delay, which was very thoughtful. He handled a situation that wasn't his fault with excellent customer service. We really enjoy the food at Lazy Dog, and I would come back, especially if Jonathan was our server again. I just hope management addresses what was happening at the bar, because waiting until you're more than halfway through your meal for drinks while watching the bartender socialize is not the level of service I would expect. Consistency generally rules with Lazy Dog Cafe. No matter what town or even what state for that matter LDC is usually consistent in the quantity of their food and level of service. Here in Oxnard they have a nice size outdoor area that you can enjoy when the weather is right. On this visit I went the campfire pot roast which is always a winner. Being Cinco de Mayo I had to wash it down with a Cadillac Margarita with Tajin on the rim. Allgood as I've come to expect with any LDC. The meal is very simple - a grilled hamburger patty, white rice, and a few vegetables in a bowl. I love that the servers were very kind to my dog and offered him a bowl of water immediately when we were seated as well. My girlfriend and I ordered a few items from Happy Hour menu: $5 onion rings, $8 street corn tots, $8 burger, $9 buffalo wings. This was a pretty good and filling meal for the two of us. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. I was only mildly disappointed with the wings. I had expected a full serving but I guess the happy hour option only comes with five. It's reasonable, but I just expected a lot more. The quality of the wings were also mediocre. Everything else - we loved. We also ordered two drinks: $8 lemon drop martini and $9 rose aperol spritz. We really love this place! We come here 4 to 5 times a month. Everyone is friendly and courteous. We love sitting at the bar on Friday nights. Brandy, Daniel, and Elizabeth are usually bartending. Our server Tesora is amazing! She is so friendly and so patient with us being indecisive. Also gave us her honest suggestions on what's good and what to avoid. The most impressive part was when a little girl accidentally spilled a glass of water and broke the glass all over the floor. Tesora rushed over and squatted down to the little girl's level to tell the girl it's ok and make her feel better because she was starting to cry. We ordered 10 Jolene's wings (Cajun lime and Nashville hot with Nashville hot dipping sauce and umami dipping sauce). It's on special for $1 per wing. Such a great deal for very meaty deliciously seasoned wings. We also had the Campfire pot roast with gravy on side because I read a review that it was too salty. But it actually wasn't salty and was seasoned very nicely. The meat was a little tougher than I would have liked because they were very lean pieces, but overall I still enjoyed it with the mashed potatoes, carrots and wilted spinach. We also got the Bison burger medium rare with onion rings. The burger came out perfectly cooked to the right temperature. The onions rings were yummy too. I was pleasantly surprised when my friends suggested we have lunch here a couple weekends ago. It was beautiful weather so we sat outside where there was ample seating and umbrellas. I ordered the peach Bellini but was disappointed. Had much better in the South. Then I had a cup of the tortilla soup. It was not too spicy but just a twinge of hot. I was so full, I asked for my Cuban sandwich to go. Sorry folks, no pic, but it was delicious that night! My friends both ordered a half turkey club sandwich and side salad. They both said it was delicious, as well. I snatched a couple fries and they were perfectly seasoned and cooked. read more
