Got a coupon to try a burger for free and wanted to try one because a friend says it is his favorite fast food burger. It was our first time ever at any of their restaurants. This one is cheery and clean, including the bathrooms! The person taking our order was very patient and explained what was on their burgers. We got extra tomato with no charge. Burger toppings also included grilled onions, lots of fresh lettuce shreds, pickles, mayo and there is a pepper bar. The burger was charbroiled and tasty. The fries were fresh, hot and crunchy--not crinkled and thicker than McD's. We also tried the tempura green beens. Not a lot of them but as good as tempura veggies at some Japanese restaurants. The prices were very reasonable. We plan to go back and try their $10 special with a burger on sour dough, nuggets, a side (fries, beans, or salad) and a drink. I have eaten at this location 20+ times. It's my mom's favorite burger and most of the time we love it. Unfortunately, on occasion, there is a lady there that ruins our experience with her attitude and, I swear somehow she also ruins the food! I think she might be management and makes the kitchen use old/bad product. My avocado was brown today. The lettuce had black edges. I spent a good 30 minutes in intestinal distress. I've only been to this location three times in the last couple of years, but I've always found the staff to be pleasant and welcoming and the food to be fresh and tasty, though a mite more pricey than your average burger joint. Today, thanks to a special deal in the app, I enjoyed a chicken club sandwich with a side of fries - total bill was less than $5, a bargain by anyone's standards. The fries were, well, fries and the sandwich, though generously laden with avocado, bacon, mayo, lettuce, and a grilled chicken breast, mildly disappointing. Despite the impressive content, there was relatively little flavor and, as it's rather laden, the toasted bread turned soggy and fell apart by the time I was half way through. In no way the fault of this location but, rather, the way this particular offering is designed. This isn't, like, 5 stars because it was one of the best meals I've ever had; but because it's a 5-star burger in the realm of sub-$7 fast food burgers. Pick quick is fun, and fine. Bomb Burger, the same. I'm embarrassed to say I've lived in Tacoma for 11 years and still haven't tried Frisko freeze, but I imagine it's on par with the other local shacks. Dick's is absolutely the worst burger I have EVER eaten and I would honestly take Burger King or McDonald's over it. The Habit burger outshines them all by a mile. The burger is fresh, and freshly made, and a decent size so you don't feel like you have to get a double in order to get more than 2 oz of meat in your burger. Toppings are great as well. If you're looking for more of a local experience then pick one of the local places (except Dick's - ), but if you're looking for by far the best chain burger and a burger that's better than the locals do, choose this place. read more

Horrible customer service! I came in the place and presented a coupon for a free burger. I also added fries and beverage to the order and paid for that with my credit card. After I was given the receipt I notice they shared me full price for the burger combo. I presented the receipt to the manager and she agreed it was not correct and they had overcharged me. I asked her for a refund and she stated they do not have any way of providing a refund. I was shocked that a business today does not have a way to void a sale and then charge the correct amount. She said I would have to take it up with corporate. I told her that I will now have to dispute the charge on my credit card. What a horrible way to treat a customer. She provided to effort to solve the problem. I cannot recumbent this place and will never return. The worse Habit location. Last visit was 3 June. We stood at register for over 10 minutes before even being ACKNOWLEDGED. The restaurant was not packed although staff appeared to be packing orders for pick-up. I understand a place might be short-staffed so at least make eye contact and say hello? When the employee finally took order- no apology or even a smile. It took 25 minutes to get order. My green beans were barely warm. My lettuce wrapped chicken was almost a head of lettuce cut in half with the chicken in middle . Chicken was good. Ranch always good. Husband enjoyed burger- fries also lukewarm. We r so glad that we have a Habit Burger Grill here!! We eat at them down the coast all the time. We travel for a living and I just happen to notice it when coming out of the "Point". I was pleasantly surprised by Habit! Some of my favorite Yelpers were not fans, so I was worried. But Red Wagon is closed on Sundays so I didn't have a choice! I got the burger that comes on sourdough (Santa Clara??), no lettuce, tomato, or Mayo, add bacon. So freaking good! Their sourdough was so yummy! Date got the habit burger add mushrooms. The fungus was not canned and may have been baby bellas? Jury is still out, but they looked decent! Their fries were edible but pretty basic. The cashier girl wasn't overly friendly, but another employee stopped by and cleaned up our tray for us. So that was unexpected and appreciated! Lots of seating! Including an outside patio. We did a pick up order, arrived on time, and got our bag from the employee. But we were bummed out to find there were no napkins in the bag, even though we ticked the box that said "w/ napkins" or sth. To top it off, they forgot our drinks. I had to ask the lady about and she just gave me a cup without even acknowledging or apologising for inconvenience they caused. They have a nice xo dinner selection including jalapeños, pepperchini's as well as pickles and lemon wedges (water and tea). I ordered a basic the basic Charburger and an order of onion rings. And a chocolate shake. The onion rings were over breaded, I prefer battered but that is a personal choice. The burger was nothing special really. It comes with lettuce, pickle, grilled onions and tomato but they give you the option to eliminate any of them. The staff is very friendly and the place is very clean. I discovered The Habit as an UberEats driver when I picked up a burger order there and had to drive it 12 miles over the Tacoma Narrows Bridge to an office in Gig Harbor. I figured it had to be good. We ordered the Char Burger Family Special....4 cheeseburgers...4 fries...a fairly good size house salad. It came UberEats with delivery within 30 minutes. We live close. Surprisingly, even the fries were still a bit hot. Without the UberEats charges, the food cost about $7 per person which was a terrific bargain especially for the quality. Tacoma is competitive when it comes to burgers so a burger joint has to be on its game to earn your trust and business. The Habit was on point with presentation, preparation and taste. The Habit Burger Grill is a southern California chain which is incredibly popular. They grill their burgers unlike the other popular In and Out burgers. Both places are awesome, depending upon the burger whim you are vibing. I'd compare the Habit' s Char Burger to a Burger King's Whopper, with exception of the onions. BK has raw onions while the Char Burger has grilled onions...everything else is the same, yet superior ingredients. The burgers are habit forming, as the name implies, but I am especially find of their tempura green beans. Lovely French fry alternative served with ranch sauce. Sort of salty, so be sure not to add more salt out of habit. I'm glad to have a somewhat healthier alternative to Burger King and Mc McDonalds in Tacoma and will be satisfying my fast food crave here. read more

First impressions: First time here. Clean interior. Decent # of seats. Convenient location. Service: Straightforward. Medium to fast service. Neutral to friendly staff. One person dealing with food did the whole uncovered nose thing with their mask the whole time I was there (I ate inside the location). Would appreciate proper following of protocol, especially when dealing with food. Food: Delicious. I ordered the original charburger with cheese. Beef was cooked through, veggies were spot on, sauces were balanced and tasty, and the whole burger had a moistness that's hard to come by. In my opinion this was better than a place like Lefty's in UP which is slow and a bit overrated flavor-wise. Miscellaneous: Lots of people order online and pickup. This may delay your meal if you plan to eat at the location. Self serve ketchup station is nice. I like that they have Mr. Pibb too. So happy there is a Habit Burger in Pierce County. I've been to the Shorline location and loved it. The location in Tacoma is just as great. The burgers are fantastic. I love that this location has outdoor seating so we had burgers and shakes in the sun. The staff is very friendly. We were served by the manager and we had great conversation. He even shared that they are looking at property for future Habit Restaurants in Olympia and Dupont! Worth the drive from Steilacoom and until there is one in Dupont we will definitely be back. read more
