Lobster & Seafood Cavatappi Mac 'n Cheese

Great location with a beautiful view! Our waitress, Davina, was fantastic! She was so fun and friendly! We started with the calamari and crab dip, both excellent. Our dinners were crab uncakes, stuffed halibut, chowder, lobster mac, steamed clams, fish & chips and stuffed halibut. The halibut was dry and over cooked, we had to send it back but they took it off our bill. The Mac had some fish that tasted a little fishy but overall a great combo of flavors. Everything else was delicious. They brought us an ice cream cake for a birthday dessert that was absolutely scrumptious! Also, the women's bathroom was completely unacceptable. One of the dirtiest bathrooms I've ever been in. We let the host know the first time we used it. An hour later we used it again and it was still dirty but when we let the hostess know this time she laughed at us and told us she was just in there. We decided to let the manager know. He was thankful for our feedback but it was unfortunate that while he was talking to us we could see the hostess laughing and rolling her eyes. For the amount of money we spent I feel like it's not a lot to expect an exceptionally clean bathroom. So that and the two dishes that weren't satisfactory is why I couldn't give this restaurant a 5 star review. I will definitely try it again, though!

The happy hour here is amazing! Everyday 3-6. We were so excited to see a happy hour on a Saturday. We had a hard time deciding what to get because everything sounded so delicious. We decided on the salmon sliders, coconut shrimp, and crab dip. Wow! All three things were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious! I got the blood Orange margarita which was refreshing and flavorful. My husband got an E9 IPA and he loved it. We sat at the bar and our waitress was so kind and attentive. The beautiful water view was stunning behind us. I can't wait to come back again and try more dishes!

Oh my Cod! Wow that is definitely award winning clam chowder! This was my first time having the chowder and I was impressed! I got the fish and chips too and gobbled it all up! Very happy with my meal! It was a combo! Very pleased! Must go again!

We arrived on a busy Sunday afternoon with a reservation for two, but opted to sit in the bar since a booth was available. Joselyn was one of the servers covering the bar area, and she was absolutely delightful. Being sweet, attentive, and genuinely engaging while managing a large section is no small feat, yet she made it look effortless. From friendly conversation to menu questions and ordering, everything was seamless. I ordered my go-to cucumber mojito, which was made to perfection. Bread was brought out while we waited for our entrées, which arrived surprisingly fast given how packed the restaurant was. The food was excellent! Exactly what I've come to expect after visiting several Duke's locations many times over. If there's one thing Duke's consistently delivers on, it's quality and reliability. While you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, I especially recommend the crab cake entrée, unchopped salad, rockfish tacos, lobster chowder, or the fish and chips. Truly, you're safe with any selection here. Cheers!

4 stars - Good I went here with a friend after work to catch up (9/11). This is a pricey restaurant, but the food is good. The restaurant is in a great location. It is right on the water with a medium-sized parking lot. The restaurant has a lot of windows, so you can still enjoy the view if you eat inside. Our service was fine. One note regarding my fish tacos: they needed to have two tortillas for each taco. Shortly after eating my taco, the tortilla broke, and it was difficult to eat.

We wanted to eat by the water front. We ate at duke before just not this location. We caught the tail end of happy hours. The calamari was good, crispy and tender, I like the sweeter sauce option. We ordered filet mignon and salmon with mustard sauce. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly, we ordered medium. The steak actually melted in my mouth. The potato was also good, not over seasoned, I wanted more sauce. The salmon was also cooked perfectly, I was not mustard sauce. My sister in law said the broccolini was tough. The sourdough with butter was good enough to hold us until the entrees showed up. The service was good with the busy evening. The view of water was a plus. Parking can be little tricky.

What an amazing place for kids! Do people know this about Dukes? They provide entertaining things for little ones right away, plus snacks such as carrots and dips and garlic rolls. It made things SO much easier for us busy parents! Not to mention fantastic food and top notch service. Maybe add a little more chicken options.. but otherwise, good One of my favorite spots for birthday dinners, too. They know how to make a girl feel special at a table near the water.

Such a beautiful place with great options that highlight the PNW! Everything is made fresh. They have natural sodas that taste amazing and leave you feeling great after. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and has great recommendations. I ordered the espresso martini and my boyfriend ordered the blood orange margarita. I loved the margarita! I have been here quite a few times and definitely will be back. More on the expensive side but well worth.

Dukes is one of my favorite seafood restaurants in the PNW! I haven't eaten at this location in years. Came in solo without a reservation so just asked to sit in the bar area. For being busy, I was extremely impressed with how fast my food came out + how attentive the bar tenders were. Service was incredible, food was delicious + it was fun to sit at the bar with a different view. Def stop in here when you can! I had the coconut shrimp, chowder + salad combo + grapefruit nirvana cocktail. You can sub Parmesan for bleu cheese if not a fan!

This restaurant was good, but overall the food didn't wow us like I was hoping it would. One thing that I really liked about this restaurant is, they are a clean eating establishment. No GMO's, no high fructose corn syrup, and locally sourced meat and produce. We sat outside on the patio which was overlooking the harbor and a pretty view. They have heaters outside to keep you warm. (Note: the tables are pretty Close together, and the people next to us had their heater up full blast, and it was a little uncomfortable for us with how hot it was). The service was great. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive. Food is pricey -- as you'd expect, I guess. Ordered: Chowder: 5/5 (dingy size is like 3 bites for $5) Deviled Eggs: 3.5/5 (tasted like an average deviled egg) Chipotle Burger: 5/5 (fries 4/5) Fish & Chips: 3.5/5 Crab Mac & Cheese: 4.5/5 Stuffed Salmon: 3.5/5 (the green beans outshined the seafood on this one for us)

Duke's Seafood - Tacoma: Salmon, Crab, and a Front Row Seat to the Sound From start to finish, this place delivered. The wild salmon bites? Fantastic. The crab cakes? Perfectly done. And the wild salmon entrée... also outstanding. Basically, if it swam in the Pacific and ended up on my plate here, I loved it. The outside deck sits right on the Sound, with seaplanes taking off in the background - talk about dinner and a show. Our waitstaff were attentive without hovering, the drinks were strong and well-poured, and the sunshine just sealed the deal. If you want fresh seafood, great service, and a front-row view of the water, this is your spot in Tacoma!

View from the outdoor deck and the "owner's table."
    Paul D.

My wife and I have dined at Duke's too many times to count! We love the atmosphere, food, and always receive exceptional service! While it's the not the only game one the Tacoma waterfront, it is one of the best for sure! Ambiance: Location...location...location! Some of the best views of Commencement Bay, Vashon Island, and Rainier! Catch a sunny summer day on the deck and you won't regret it! If you're lucky, grab the proverbial "owner's table" - outside on deck in the corner - perfect views! Service: To be clear, we live in Olympia, so most if not all our visits have been for lunch or early dinner, typically when having to pick someone up from SEATAC or doing other business in Tacoma. We do make reservations whenever it is more than just the two of us, but whether with or without reservations we have rarely waited longer than 10-20 minutes. Server attention has always been immediate and well sustained through an entire meal - with "check-ins" always timely! Food: Nothing has ever disappointed us! Mind you, we come here strictly for sea food...so it is all I can speak to! New England-styled clam chowder...some of the best we've had in the area! Tho their other chowders and their cioppino are amazing too! Dungeness Crab "Un-cakes"...absolutely delicious - and lots of meat and little cake...as they say! Fish and chips (cod)... very good! Rockfish tacos...so good! Love all their Salmon presentations...Colonel Mustard, Duke's, and their Off-The Hook! And when King is running...always pop on their offerings at Duke's!! We haven't been to their other locations in the region as we usually eat at other places when we head north into the Seattle metro proper...but we will continue to hit up Duke's in Tacoma as it remains some of the best seafood in the area and always a great place to enjoy with family and friends! Cheers!

From the comfortable…read moreenvironment, great-tasting food, and its STELLAR Employees, this place is a perfect place to enjoy a night out or to celebrate a birthday (which was the reason we were there tonight.) I reserved a table (for a large party of 9) conveniently on Open Table which made the process easy and effortless two days prior to our reservation. On the day of our reservation I received a call from a very friendly staff member Jace (forgive my spelling if it's incorrect) who confirmed our reservation and also asked if we had kids in our party because of the age restriction for the outside seating. I thought that was very considerate of him to do so as he was being proactive and courteous at the same time! When I checked in, I immediately was greeted by Jace who was beyond welcoming in person as he was on the phone. He guided us to our table and made us all feel welcome. We then were presented with our hardworking and endearing Server Kat who was so patient with all of us, was proactive in setting up plates for our Birthday cake (we had brought with us - as we were granted with permission by the restaurant). Throughout our experience, Kat took care of our needs, fulfilled our delicious food orders with accuracy, and the other hardworking Server Ethan also ensured our drinks were filled. Seriously, the Employees are what made our celebratory Birthday even more special!! And also, our the wonderful Manager Brandon made sure we were all taken care of and even personally said goodbye as he walked with us out the door! We only live down the street from this restaurant as my husband and I have lived in Washington for about three years. But rest assure we will be coming back again and again because of the great food but more importantly of the Employees - Jace, Kat, Ethan, and Brandon....and the rest of the Restaurant!

Back before it was sold, my dad would come in, sit at the table, and instantly a Manhattan was placed in front of him. That wonderful, old-type service. The new owners have been around for a while and did a wonderful refresh on the property. They kept a lot of the household favorites on the menu -- mine being the shucked and sautéed crab legs. Extremely decadent and pricey, but well worth it. Anytime you're wanting to come for a birthday or a special event, I highly recommend this dish. If you're coming by yourself or just as a table of two, try getting a table in the bar. It's intimate and cozy, and probably only seats 20 people. I've been coming to Harbor Lights for years--mainly for what used to be my all-time favorite shrimp…read morecocktail and to check out their special fruit drinks. Today was supposed to be a quick, light stop after work: shrimp cocktail, a couple drinks, and some time in the old Harbor Lights bar. Walking in, I was immediately reminded of one of my biggest frustrations with this space. Yes, it's small--but the outdated tables and chairs make it far too easy for people to block the walkways. And when those walkways are filled with loud, inappropriate, "stuck-in-1976" commentary from intoxicated older men acting like they're still in their 20s, it makes navigating the room even more uncomfortable. At one point, we were stuck sitting there listening to them loudly joke about having female urologists and proctologists--one word: GROSS. Speaking up doesn't feel like a safe or worthwhile option--it just escalates things. The bar could absolutely keep its charm while still evolving into a more comfortable, modern, and inclusive space. Then there's the menu situation--multiple menus stacked in front of you like a paper shuffle. It's unnecessary and could easily be streamlined. Now, the drinks... this is where things really fell off. Harbor Lights used to be known for strong drinks--that reputation feels long gone. I ordered a vodka-based drink and it went down like juice--no taste, no kick, nothing. When I asked for a double on the second round, the bartender laughed and said all their drinks are doubles and that they don't measure, claiming there was 2 1/2 oz of liquor in it. We watched him make it: no measuring, just a free pour over ice, stopping well short of the top, then filling it with rhubarb-strawberry purée. When it arrived, it felt more dropped on the table than served. I gave it a fair shot--a big sip--and again... no vodka taste whatsoever. No burn, no effect. I know my liquor, and this didn't add up. It really makes you question what's actually being poured. And then... the shrimp cocktail. How do you mess this up? This was the one thing I could always count on. It's always been unique and consistently good--but this time? Way too much horseradish. Completely threw off the balance. I still ate it, but it was not the same experience at all. Overall, this visit was disappointing. Between the uncomfortable atmosphere, lackluster drinks, and a once-reliable favorite falling short, Harbor Lights just isn't what it used to be.

First, the service was poor and disorganized. One of my friends arrived early and ordered her drink, but it didn't arrive until after I had already received mine -- even after she asked twice. We also had to wait far too long for basic things like napkins and forks because we weren't given enough for everyone. The most frustrating part, however, was the automatic gratuity. At no point were we informed -- verbally or on the menu -- that parties of 6 or more are charged an automatic 20% gratuity. We only discovered it by carefully reviewing our checks. And to make matters worse, the so-called "20%" was not actually 20%. It came out to 24.1%. When we questioned it, the person who said she was the manager claimed "the computer does it automatically." We are a table full of teachers -- and the math was definitely not mathing. We understand and respect gratuity for large parties, especially when the service is great or when it's clearly communicated. But charging more than the stated percentage crosses from poor service into a billing integrity issue. To add to the frustration, there is also a credit card processing fee, which again was not clearly disclosed on the menu and only appeared at the bottom of the receipt. This absolutely should be visibly posted before ordering. They did offer to refund some of the charges, but we declined because it would have taken additional time and we had an event to get to -- and more importantly, it doesn't resolve the core issue of lack of transparency. She also gave each of us a $10 gift card, but again, that doesn't resolve the issue. And honestly, what good is a gift card if we don't plan on returning because of such an awful experience? Overall, this was a very disappointing visit, and not one we would recommend based on service and transparency alone.

My family has driven past Cooks Tavern so many times and each time I've made a matter of factly…read moreremark that we should try it in the near future. After what I believe to have been 2 years of saying that, that day has finally come. First, parking near the restaurant was limited, however finding parking in the residential area was fine. We found parking about 2 minutes away from the restaurant. As we came with my best friend, who, by the way, was the reason why I finally stepped foot here, wait time wasn't long as she came about 5 minutes earlier than I. We came for brunch and it was busy but the wait was not bad at all. The both of us ordered the same items on the menu from both the drinks, the main and dessert - a sangria, Shakshuka with lamb, and beignets. We also brought our daughters with us. They ordered a cheeseburger with a side of caesar salad and a mac n cheese dish from the kids menu. Our orders were delicious, although I was expecting the shakshuka dish to be heftier. For the price - $17. xx with an additional $4 to add lamb - it was a little disappointing, to be honest, especially since it was lacking in the lamb department. I was still hungry but thankfully I had my 4 year old's leftover cheeseburger and salad to fill me right up. As for the beignets, it was good. I don't have anything to compare it to since I don't know what an actual beignet tastes like. Would I return? Sure.
