I had the lobster burger, and it was absolutely to die for. It was so good that I honestly didn't want the meal to end. This was one of those dishes where you slow down because you want to savor every single bite. Delicious from beginning to end. The atmosphere is phenomenal as well. Being right on the waterfront adds something special to the experience, and the restaurant has a great overall vibe. On top of that, the staff is top-tier--friendly, attentive, and professional. I didn't love the fish and chips - the inside cod was fine but the exterior was fried too hard and too crispy - I prefer lightly battered. I also wasn't as huge a fan of the chowder despite all the rave reviews. I did enjoy the free sourdough bread to start though. Service was friendly and attentive. Our waitress Jennifer took our drink orders (22oz Seasonal draft beer for me and a Cucumber Mojito for the bride). Everyone else had various drinks. Our waitress took our food orders and we all ordered off the Happy Hour menu. She was very insistent we hurry up to get in our orders as happy hour was ending (we didn't notice the cut off time for it). My wife got a small bowl of Clam Chowder and a Ceasars Salad. I got a large bowl of Clam Chowder and the Salmon Bites. Everyone else got various items (more Chowder, burger and fries, Savory Chipotle Wild Salmon sandwich and sweet potato fries, and two orders of tortilla chips and a dip (seafood flavor I think). Food arrived at various times along with free bread and butter. Everything was very tasty and for dessert I had the Marionberry Pie with ice cream, and everyone else had the Mixed Berry White Chocolate Mousse, which were nice. My wife and I had another beer and Mojito during dinner as well. Although we all ordered off the Happy hour menu our meal was still VERY expensive. For a beautiful waterfront dinning experience, Duke's on Ruston Way in Tacoma is a great place to visit on a nice sunny or warm day. Their selection of seafood is large and their staff is so friendly and inviting. I took my grandson her when he visited from out of town and he was ecstatic. He had the crabcake sandwich with sweet potato fries and was blown away. I had the lobster risotto bites and have to say they weren't as good at the Greenlake Dukes but they were still excellent. And the dungeness crab louie was excellent. Our server was attentive and very happy to get me some bread and some more of the garlic aoli sauce for the sweet potato fries. Plus, after or before dining, it's a loveley place to take a walk along Ruston Way. Overall, it was a great experience and we both left happy. read more

This place is solid, especially on a sunny day. The food is almost always great, and the views are even better. Today Pamela took care of us, and she was fantastic: attentive, patient, with just the right amount of checking in without hovering. I skipped seafood this time. My wife got the crab cake sandwich, I had the burger, and both were excellent. One small note: I'm not sure how they handle their grilling setup, but the burger had a faint hint of fish flavor, likely from being cooked near the seafood. It didn't bother me, but if I had the choice, I'd prefer a burger without that extra note. Minor thing overall, and it didn't take away from a great meal. Great place to go visit and eat. read more

I visited Duke's in June and enjoyed a delicious meal. Everything they offered was delicious and it was a beautiful day. However, something the waiter said stayed with me for all the wrong reasons. It happened when I asked if there were anchovies in the caesar salad, which traditionally uses mashed anchovies. The waiter said "No, they're not sustainable". It came off a little rude and rather condescending. I didn't know any better and I felt ignorant for even asking. I hadn't thought about the interaction in a while, but I recently had my memory jogged when I read about anchovies online. They are in fact sustainable according to many reputable sites, including NOAA and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I felt like calling the restaurant and saying something because clearly they don't know anything about sustainability! It's rich that they said to me considering you get a postcard printout of their recipes with every item you order, sometimes bringing you duplicates. The happy hour here is amazing! Everyday 3-6. We were so excited to see a happy hour on a Saturday. We had a hard time deciding what to get because everything sounded so delicious. Joselyn was one of the servers covering the bar area, and she was absolutely delightful. Dukes Seafood in Tacoma and Ruston has been a staple in our lives for years. The service has always been top-notch, and we've been loyal customers. However, after noticing significant changes to the menu and ingredient list in 2025, we reached out to management. They were polite and explained the economic conditions and rising food costs. We understand that the restaurant has faced challenges, but we still want to support it. So, we've been back occasionally, probably once every few months. Fast forward to July 2026, and we decided to return after months of not going. We hoped that things had returned to normal, but unfortunately, more items had been removed from the menu, the quality of the food had declined, and the prices had increased significantly. We were paying El Gaucho prices for what we could easily get at our local Ivars (or maybe even a typical Anthony's restaurant). It was a huge disappointment. Here's a breakdown of the changes: - Verde was replaced with what I can only assume is Costco salsa. - The shrimp appetizer dish was discontinued. - The quesadillas were no longer available. - The chicken corn chowder was removed. - The seasonal coleslaw was no longer offered. - The iconic potato wedges were gone. - The tartar was terrible. - The fish was chewy. - The pasta was overcooked. And to top it off, all the prices went up by 30-40%, while the quality of the food also declined by the same percentage. We will always support the staff, who are fantastic, but everything else at Dukes Seafood is not worth it anymore. read more

Great location with a beautiful view! Our waitress, Davina, was fantastic! She was so fun and friendly! We started with the calamari and crab dip, both excellent. Our dinners were crab uncakes, stuffed halibut, chowder, lobster mac, steamed clams, fish & chips and stuffed halibut. The halibut was dry and over cooked, we had to send it back but they took it off our bill. The Mac had some fish that tasted a little fishy but overall a great combo of flavors. Everything else was delicious. They brought us an ice cream cake for a birthday dessert that was absolutely scrumptious! Also, the women's bathroom was completely unacceptable. One of the dirtiest bathrooms I've ever been in. We let the host know the first time we used it. An hour later we used it again and it was still dirty but when we let the hostess know this time she laughed at us and told us she was just in there. We decided to let the manager know. He was thankful for our feedback but it was unfortunate that while he was talking to us we could see the hostess laughing and rolling her eyes. For the amount of money we spent I feel like it's not a lot to expect an exceptionally clean bathroom. So that and the two dishes that weren't satisfactory is why I couldn't give this restaurant a 5 star review. I will definitely try it again, though! read more

As always, Dinner at Dukes on the deck at dusk is magical. Low cloud cover gave us a brief view of Mt. Rainer but the low angle sun lit up the port and Brown's point. If you're native to Washington, you've been to Duke's at leaaast a handful of times. That said, this was my first time visiting the Ruston location and we had a good experience! Came early on a weekday for a family birthday lunch and despite having a reservation they were a little behind on getting us to our table which was a little annoying with a hungry toddler. After we actually got to our table though, service was great! We decided to eat on the patio as it was a gloomy summer afternoon, so it was still comfortable but not too hot. Views are on point being right on Commencement Bay, and on clear days, with views of the mountains. Their menu is extensive and they have so many tasting sounding options! I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of pricing but it's pretty steep. I went with the Unforgettable Cod Taco (there's an option to get one or two) which comes with a side of chips and salsa, for $28. Pricy for a lunch item an for it only being one taco - but I quickly backpedaled my thoughts when I got my order because this thing was the size of a BURRITO, not a taco! I literally didn't even attempt picking it up because it was gonna all fall on my plate or I wouldn't be able to set it down once I started. So I just ate the insides with a fork LOL. It was overall pretty tasty and the perfect fresh option for lunch. I also had a dinghy of their award winning chowder which you can NEVER go wrong with - I was the only person at the table who didn't order the chowder bread bowl, but I wanted to try something new. We ordered filet mignon and salmon with mustard sauce. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly, we ordered medium. The steak actually melted in my mouth. The potato was also good, not over seasoned, I wanted more sauce. The salmon was also cooked perfectly, I was not mustard sauce. My sister in law said the broccolini was tough. We do make reservations whenever it is more than just the two of us, but whether with or without reservations we have rarely waited longer than 10-20 minutes. Server attention has always been immediate and well sustained through an entire meal - with "check-ins" always timely! Food: Nothing has ever disappointed us! Mind you, we come here strictly for sea food...so it is all I can speak to! New England-styled clam chowder...some of the best we've had in the area!
