Some of the largest portions I've ever seen, for a more than fair price. While I haven't been to any other Mexican in the Tri Cities area the enchiladas, tacos and quesadilla we had here did impress. Sure, it's not top-quality, amazing Mexican, but when it comes to average, nothing to complain about food, this place hits the spot and delivers good, friendly service. If customer service means anything to you this is not the place to go. We waited at the door for about 5 minutes until we were sat. After being sat it took a server about 15 minutes to even greet us and ask for drinks. Another 10 minutes we had finally gotten our drinks and food ordered. 25 minutes our food came. My husband got enchiladas that had 0 flavor. To top it off the waitress was very rude and over stepped boundaries when it came to my husband. Needless to say everything about this place sucked.. we will never be returning again. Literally any other restaurant would be better than this. Great service and good selection of food and drinks.... The nachos as an appetizer are tasty and a big portion. Just the right amount of cheese and just enough Carne Asada after all is an appetizer. the Manu has mostly meat and shrimp entries since those are the specialty of Hacienda del Sol. In this visit I try camarones portugueses. cook to perfection the crab meat is flavorful and the bacon is crispy. Overall a 9 out of 10! Prices are reasonable and drinks are well made. We never got our cups refilled, we sat without someone coming to take our order for about 15 minutes before I had to ask a different waitress who our waitress was. What was my favorite Mexican restaurant to go to in the rare times I do go out has drastically went down hill. The service was ok just didn't feel like the server wanted to be there much. I ordered hongos appetizer (sauteed mushrooms). When they arrived they werent sauteed, maybe moderately cooked and bland with a small dish of butter on the side. Our table of six ordered and 2 of us ordered shrimp entres. The camerones Portuguese( shrimp stuffed with REAL crab meat amd cheese wrapped in bacon with a cream dauce over top) and camerones mazatlan( shrimp stuffed with lobster wrapped in bacon in a curry and cheese sauce). When the food arrived the first thing I noticed was it was way over cooked, bacon black and shrimp hard, chewey and gritty. After taking the bacon wrapped shrimp apart I noticed there was no crab anywhere to be found on the entire plate, nor was there any lobster in the other. When I told the waitress there was no crab at all she first told me that it was a small amount about the size of a marble. I told her there was nothing there, she decided to argue with me and say yes there is its that piece right there pointing to an untouched piece of shrimp. I picked it up wiped all the sauce took the bacon off and opened it up the piece she was referring to was the end of the shrimp that had been fried to the point of being black. Then she left and came back saying I was wrong and what I ordered doesnt come with crab just bacon wrapped and the other dish was the one with the crab meat, to which we also said there was no crab or lobster meat in either. At this point I was irritated and not in a mood to continue to be told I was wrong and argue and asked for the check. While waiting for our check I looked over the shrimp again. I opened up the back of the shrimp and it was never devained. I went through and did the same with every piece of shrimp I had and not a single shrimp was cleaned, all of them were full of excrement. A male server/busser/ manager I'm not sure which came by and asked if I was done and when I said yes he asked if I liked my shrimp I then proceeded to show him the uncleaned shrimp and he immediately apologized and said he was take it and get it taken care of. The server said she had taken care of it and knew about it already to which I was given the receipt with half off one plate and $5 off the other. I told her I wasn't going to pay for my plate considering I ate one and a half piece of shrimp and discarded the rest. With frustration and an undertone of disdain she took it off. As someone who has worked in customer service industry for 8+ years I hardly ever complain or send anything back as I understand there are off nights and not everything will be perfect, however... In the rare times I do its for a very legitimate reason and expect at least an attempt to correct or remedy the situation, not be told I'm wrong, then argue that nothing is wrong with it and that I didn't know what I ordered. I was polite soft spoken and kindly made the server aware as it is not her who is cooking but to have her argue, tell me I'm wrong and make excuses with out ever talking to cooks managers etc. Is what we didnt appreciate. I hope this is something that can be addressed and corrected by the restaurant and the quality of food and service is brought back to standard that gave this restaurant the reputation it was commonly known for. read more

This was one of our best Covid take outs. I had homemade corn tortillas, great chicken fajita, and a cup of fresh salsa to go with everything. My husband got the enchiladas. Everything was amazing, and the way they wrapped it, it stayed warm! We live in Burbank, so usually things are cold when we get home. The fajita is enough for two people easily. We ate here on our second visit to the Tricities, after eating at a different Mexican restaurant on our first. In the weeks between our second and third visits, I repeatedly thought of eating there and again was rewarded for my patience. I swear that someday I will sample the rest of the menu, but have yet to deviate from the 'house special' because it's so darned good. There may be other Mexican restaurants in the Tricities area, that infuse as much flavor in every item on the plate, but I will never find them... because if I am within 20 miles of this place, I know where I'm going. read more

Came in here today with family for lunch. Me and wife split the nachos grande. They were really tasty. They just expanded the restaurant and now have a bar and more seating. This is the only Mexican restaurant we come to now. We use to go to Inca but it is to far for us now when we have this one here on road 68. Inca and Hacienda are really similar in taste. They are related somehow, don't remember how. My go to meal is usually the carne asada but the price has gone up over the years. I can't see myself almost paying $18 bucks for a plate, when my kids eat like adults. Don't forget the salsa bar and fresh corn tortillas. The atmosphere is different. With the flat screen televisions all over the dining area. Our visit was during a marathon of a Mexican sitcom, it was odd. The service was here one minute, gone the next, and back again towards the end. We had a large group, 12 people, and let the waitress know who was paying together while she took our orders. The check was dropped off as one large bill that we had to sort out up at the register. It just took longer than necessary and our party was all herded together in front of the door waiting to get it all sorted out so we could leave. The higher than normal rating is due to the food. Hacienda del Sol is a new, independent entry into the healthy population of Mexican restaurants in Tri-Cities. The restaurant is spacious, with very nice decor and seating areas. Staff is friendly and service is fast. They have a salsa bar, with fresh tortillas, which is becoming a welcome addition to restaurants in the area. Prices are reasonable and portions are very generous - I was full and took half home! Why doesn't it rate higher? I just don't find it very flavorful. Everything is fresh and well prepared, but the dishes doesn't have anything unique or special about them. This isn't just about spicy - which is really isn't - it's about the little differences that mean a lot in defining the individuality of the food. The menu is varied - a big plus. Tortillas are OK - a little flat and firm for my tastes. They are very fresh - so if you like them like that, consider them good. Again, there is nothing wrong with Hacienda. Good food, great service, big plates, and reasonable prices are all big positives. When I have a craving for Mexican food, there are other places that draw back more than Hacienda, so three stars it is. read more

This place is quality. Clean and inviting restaurant very similar to your average sit-down Mexican restaurant in the Tri-Cities. It is probably my second favorite spot for Mexican food in town. High quality ingredients and large portions make it worth your visit. The chips and salsa start things off right. Good restaurant style salsa. The food does taste fresh and the beans and cheese seem to be of quality. The chicken that comes in the burritos and enchiladas also taste meaty and not overly saucy. This differentiates it from other local Mexican cuisine. Tapatio enchiladas are where it is at. The name is deceiving because it not based off of the common sauce, but instead on the regional cuisine style (based on my interpretation.) What you can expect is fresh chicken with a warm red sauce baked on the tortilla. It is topped and drizzled with a white cream sauce then sprinkled with fresh oregano. I had the Chorizo nachos and I added rice. It was so cheesy and good. Next time I will add beans to it. It's a big plate and very satisfying. To drink I had an horchata. The people here are rude as hell, first we get there it's slow no one but two tables are there but still takes 10mins to be seated then the hostess seats us but rolls her eyes at us then the a lady asks for our drinks with attitude and gets mad for no reason, whatever the server comes and asks for our order was a bit nicer than the other two but still a bit bothered, we eat then halfway the first girl comes back and say if we are finished yet and we say no so she rolls her eyes and walks away over all this experience was horrible just rude snobby women who think they are hot shit, won't be coming back for sure. read more

We lived in the TC for sixteen years, long enough to learn that HdS has been the best Mexican restaurant in town for many years--ever since the owner broke away from the old Cinco de Mayo on Clearwater. Now we live in Beaverton, and we still haven't found a local place that can touch HdS. There are good options near us, but not as excellent as the gold standard back in west Pasco. The owner's daughter seems to be learning the business and he has her doing it the right way: from the floor up, literally. Last time we were there--and this time we got a motel within walking distance just to make it easy to get our fix--she was crawling around under a table that had hosted some very messy small children, cleaning up the carpet. I think this restaurant's excellence will continue into the next generation. We've never had anything bad here. The salsa bar is great, as are nachos, fajitas, pollo con crema, and arroz con pollo. Staff are always polite, professional, and friendly. What is more, over the years we continue to see familiar faces, which suggests that there is no revolving door for staff. The logical conclusion is that it's a good place to work, probably because a lot of happy diners in a busy restaurant mean good tips and therefore a good living. The only way HdS could get any better would be to open a branch nearer to us. This would crush anything in Beaverton or Hillsboro. read more
