They intro'ed us to the owner/mgr, Sergio (?) who came to our table. We waited for service/beverage, others in our group kept arriving. No service but waitress staff was lining the wall and serving tables near ours, but managed to ignore us nicely. We were on limited time due to the movie schedule. Some in our group became irritated w/lack of service, and raised/waved hands to get their attention. The owner/mgr was sitting at a booth across the room, and looked directly at us, but then looked out the window, apparently unconcerned. Wow. Service finally started, and was poor with mostly a borish and unfriendly attitude. Food was decent. I liked the mole sauce on the chicken I had, thanks to reading a review lauding it on Yelp before I ate there. Portions were large, which I also read on another review. Salsa bar had some interesting fare, but I disagree with those reviews that raved on the house salsa -- it was just not that good. Each bowl that arrived at the table was inconsistent, some had too much onion, some none -- as an example. If I wasn't there with a group, I would have left after being ignored for 10 minutes after arriving, especially after the owner ignored us too My advice -- when a group with a reservation arrives, get some staff on the table immediately. read more

Ordering lunch from work today, we had two separate orders. Our second order included the steak fajita burrito. The online menu lists this item at $15.75, and upon hearing the total, itemization was requested. They quoted the burrito at 18.75 (or.99). When I pointed out the discrepancy, the gentleman said that they have changed their menu prices. When I asked them to honor the price as advertised, he refused saying "My boss won't let me do that." I asked to speak to the manager and he said he'd check to see if he was available, came back quickly, to laughter in the background, and said that he wasn't. All the while, this gentleman was cocky and rude. I cancelled my order, and to add insult he said, "And in the future, you'll be responsible for food ordered that isn't picked up because we've already started making your first order." Rude, and shady business practices. If you've changed your menu prices, but not updated your online menu, you should really let those placing pick up orders know. When this first place opened, I thought the quality of it was pretty good, and I returned there a lot . It used to be a Chinese buffet place but that tanked immediately. Hacienda Del Sol has been there for a few years. Granted, I haven't been here in almost two years because of the other Mexican food options in town. I decided to go back. I wish I didn't. I ordered a dinner combo plate with two tacos and one enchilada, both with shredded beef. While I liked the quality of the beef, everything else was not that good. In fact, it seemed very basic. I don't want to use the word "worse" because in all honesty, it was edible. It lacked a lot of flavor. My nephew, however, had a shrimp with sauce dish ,and the sauce was incredible. They've now added what I believe is crab, and I'm hoping it isn't imitation crab/crab flavoring. On another dish ordered, one of the bell peppers still had the supermarket sticker on it. I guess I expected some more authentic tacos at a Mexican restaurant, but outside of the quality of the beef, I could've walked across the street to the bell and paid for junk. This used to be one of my favorite spots, but not anymore. The only thing that saves this place is their salsa bar, but we got there after 8pm so it was closed. Very frustrated with how management treated us. Bottom line up front: +Good Food (above average for mex-american) - Horrible management (nice, but could not care less about correcting their own mistake) We weren't quite ready for the week and wanted to eat out on a Monday and decided to order out from our go-to Mexican restaurant, Hacienda Del Sol (much better than Fiesta Mexican). We ordered the "Mucho Grande Hacienda Nachos." I was very clear on the this particular order. I know because in the past I had said "the large hacienda Nachos" and, when we got home we realized they have given us the "Nachos Hacienda Del Sol." (The "Mucho Grande Hacienda Nachos" is two plates of food (for home) with beef, chicken, and picadillo. Plus Guacamole and sour cream for $12.95. The "Nachos Hacienda Del Sol" is a single plate (for home) of chopped Carne Asada [I am sure a more expensive product] for $13.95.) We like the Mucho Grande much better because it feeds a whole family, is a decent price, and the 3 meats is a nice variety. That time, while disappointed we didn't do anything, because 1) we were already home, and 2) it wasn't their fault. I needed to be very precise when ordering the item, and "large hacienda nachos" could go either way. So this time, I was very clear. I even identified the nachos with 3 meats and got confirmation from the person on the phone. I get there, and you can imagine where this review is going. We again received the wrong nachos. Because I was there I asked them to, instead of throwing that plate away, to simply make a second plate of the Mucho grande nachos to even it out. We waited (with the kids) and they come back and explain they cannot make a small plate of that. They offered another plate of their nachos. I decided on chicken because I knew the wrong plate was beef at least. We waited for the food to arrive and begin to pay for the bill. $13.95+ $8.95. Not only did we not get the food we ordered (which is now cold) but they were going to make us pay for the make up plate? I asked them about this and, after more time, they took 25%, of, one, item. We we had the privilege of paying $19.21 for our $12.95 nachos meal, and we didn't even get what we wanted. So in the end, I recommend double checking the order. And asking them throw away ANY incorrect food, because they will not cut you any sack for saving them some food. Just ask for the right dish to be made. And while you are at it I would have your sides remade too because they will be cold when it's all said an done. Management: I understand mistakes happen. I myself made this mistake the last time but I owned up to it acknowledged it was indeed my fault (although, you might not want 2 nachos dishes called hacienda on a menu). This time around, you charged me more for the wrong food. Regulars want to like their restaurants. We stick up for them, and recommend them, but when you treat people (regular or not) like this, I lose a lot of interest in your establishment. I do have a knack for ordering the wrong thing. At Hacienda Del Sol, the arroz con pollo is the wrong thing, but the rest of my experience wasn't so great either. I know it says "arroz" right in it's name, but does there have to be so much rice, and so little else, especially for $15? Does the pollo have to be so tough? And does the whole thing have to have so little flavor? I think $10 would have been a fairer price, but a lower price wouldn't improve the food. The chips were okay, nothing special. The salsa with the chips was a little watery and spicy enough that I couldn't eat it. What's this I read about a salsa bar? I hope it doesn't come with the dinner, because no one mentioned it to me. The corn tortillas were room temp, not warmed, not flavorful. I was pretty much ignored once the food came- no check ups on my water, or to see if I needed anything (which I did), and to get my check I had to ask a different server as my waitress had disappeared. Wait! She didn't disappear-I found a cluster of servers chatting by the bar. BTW, almost wall-to-wall big screen TVs tuned to football, so if you like to watch football while you eat, and not be interrupted by wait staff, Hacienda Del Sol has that going for it. read more

After seeing a film at Fairfield, my wife, a friend and I went to HDS for a lil' grub. We were greeted, seated and forgotten. It took over 15min for a waiter to write up an order for us (the place was dead). The manager was kind enough to buy us a round of drinks and apologized every time he came to the table. Hacienda del Sol is a beautiful new restaurant in West Pasco, on Road 68, out in front of the Walmart north of the I-182 freeway. It was my first time at Hacienda, but will definitely not be the last. It was the Saturday evening before Valentine's day, about 5pm, and it was absolutely packed inside. They managed to get us seated, though, within about 5 minutes of arrival, despite 3 families being in line before us. (they seated us all in order; we didn't skip ahead!) Their service was a little slow, as it was very busy--which is also why I only gave them 4 starts instead of 5--but the food was amazing. Their chips and salsa are right up there with my favorites. The chips were warm, crispy, and delicious; and the salsa was SO good. It was some of the most dynamic, flavorful Mexican food I've had in the Tri-Cities. As well, I ordered the Carne Asada and it was, by FAR, the biggest piece of carne asada I've ever gotten. It was served on a huge plate with a healthy side of refried beans and rice. My wife ordered the Arroz con Pollo, which was enough to feed three people (not even kidding). She has two extra meals in the fridge at home. She was also very pleased with the flavor, portions (obviously!), and quality of the meal. They also have a salsa bar (self-serve) in the back, which is a plus for those of us who like to sample all sorts of salsas, and/or add them to our rice, burritos, etc. I highly recommend a trip to Hacienda del Sol. Ordered take out when visiting Pasco. I left for the restaurant right after I called in the order. From phone order until the food was ready took almost 30 minutes. I only had 2 orders. I ordered the chile relleno. It was an omelette sheet wrapped around chile and cheese instead of dipped in egg whites. Very disappointed. They put melted cheese over the top of my tamale. This is our to go place for Authentic Mexican food. Their homemade tortilla chips are delicious. Live the fact that you can go to the salsa bar and grab a homemade tortilla, which bus being made right in front of you, and taste their salsas. I have been scolded a few times for grabbing a few more tortillas than the lady liked, which don't know why the would hurt her, but the salsas they have are delicious. Only thing I wish they would change is the amount of rice and beans on the plate. I feel like they skimp out on the rice. Only spreading it across their large plates. I find myself having to always order a small plate of extra rice which costs me 3$. If they'd change that, it'd make so many people happy. I'd give it five stars but hats my only con. Management is is really nice. I had an incident where there was plastic wrapping on my chicken, which I didn't notice, and upon chewing it, i spit it out. Felt totally disgusted. This was our first time trying Mexican food in this city and may I say this was pretty bad. They had completely stale and unsalted chips coupled with watery salsa that was bland. My combo shrimp/chicken/steak fajitas were equally as bad. Tortillas were almost gummy and my shrimp were over cooked to the point I didn't eat most of my meal. Tuesday I brought my two daughters to eat here. we each got combo meals, my daughter got the three taco meal and I got the two enchilada and taco combo with shredded beef. when we were finished we took the left overs to my parents house. That night my daughter got extremely sick and couldn't go to school the next day. My parents who were leaving for the coast that morning got violently sick and I got so sick I had to leave work. this lasted the course of three days. I called the manager who's husband owns the place and told her what happened. She told me that their was a problem with the meat because the worker hadn't checked the expiration date and served it that day. She said that she would pay for our next meal. Although I really didn't like the idea of eating there again , I decided I would try something different at the same value as the meal we purchased before. When I goth there I was told that we were only able to have one senior taco and one enchilada. Basically a portion of the food we had ordered before and she would only let us have the type of food that made us sick the last time. DO NOT GO HERE. You will get sick from food contamination and when you do, you will not be compensated fairly. Defiantly plan on letting the health department know about how food is handled here. read more

This was delicious food, very authentic Mexican food. I had the camarones a la diabla, rice and beans. My husband had the chicken platter and we were both very pleased with the taste of our food. I also ordered an horchata and my husband got an agua de Jamaica, I loved the taste of both drinks but next time I'll definitely get the Jamaica over the horchata. The service was excellent, we ordered and did not have to wait long for our food to come out. The waitress was also very pleasant. We were in town only for the weekend but next time we visit the Tri-cities we will have Hacienda del sol on our list of places to eat. We've been going here for years & one thing we've learned is the busier they are, the better the service & food. When they're slow, the food quality isn't as high & the service is pretty poor. I visited the restaurant today and the food was okay . The staff is not very friendly . 1: the guy that took us to the table never greeted us he just said ( can I help you?) I was like ,really ?? Then proceeded to give us a table , the waitress was not very attentive at all , no eye contact ! The whole time she was taking the order she never smile or made a connection to make one feel welcome. 2: the owner should consider having a rally at the beginning of businesses hours to remind the staff about customer service and making great connections with customers . 3: it seems that the staff likes to socialize with other coworkers that are either visiting on their day off or stay to hang around after their shift is over.
