Hacienda is hit or miss over the past few years. Last time we ate at the Darmstadt location. Beef burrito was mainly filled with lettuce and very little beef or beans. Black beans were sour, so pretty sure they were spoiled. Not a cheap lunch for unfresh and unsatisfying food. We will not return to that location. Service was fine. I recently went to your Darmstadt location and experienced some of the worst service ever. Asked if I could get the jalapeño margarita frozen and was told I couldn't but I could the mango. So I ordered the mango with tajin on the rim it comes out unfrozen and the waitress said that you can't put the tajin on a frozen margarita . Then I ordered chicken on the beach with fajita vegetables added. They charged me $2.99 and only it 1 sliver of onions a slice of green peppers and a slice of red peppers I told the waitress about it and she laughed and walked away. This is my go to mexican restaurant stop every time I come to town and it never falls short of a great marg, friendly service and chips (and delicious mexican food) for days! Let's start with the margaritas. Now if you're a true West Sider (or are just awesome) and love your Ski, you're now in for a treat because, that's right ladies and gents, FROZEN SKI MARGARITAS have arrived!! Beyond Ski, they also have several flavors of frozen margaritas that they mix up everyday so be sure to ask he specials! My favorite mixture is the orange and strawberry swirl! If you just don't know what flavor to try, get a flight and try them all (Helpful Hint: On Mondays Margarita Flights are only $7.50!) They typically always have those two flavors. If you're not into the frozen margaritas and want a good one on the rocks, this is your place! I's recommend with just going with the Top Shelf classic... you won't regret it! The salsa is very basic and kind of addicting... I mean it's hard to stop eating! However, don't end your chip dipping options there, you can also ask for the green salsa and pico de gallo (It's FREE but they'll only bring it if you ask. The ranch dressing is the best you will ever have (according to my ranch eating friends). They even have white and yellow queso. So many options before you even get to the main dish! As far as the main course, you have any option from wet burritos to fijitas to quesadillas to mexican pizzas. They have great staples that regulars typically come back time and time again for, but they are good about featuring new dishes every now and again. Nothing is too expensive, but they also have daily specials for any budget conscious folks looking for a yummy meal out... or if you just want to be a regular on the day your favorite dish is on special! Stopped for lunch. Seated promptly. The not warm chips arrived. Several minutes later the salsa. The male waiter stopped and asked our drink preference and then our food selection. My lunch date ordered a side of ranch for her chips at this time. Twenty one minutes later our food arrived. ... I replied to the male waiter we still have not gotten our drinks, a cola and tea, nor the side of ranch. Smartly he replied " well do you want your food or not!" I replied No we are out of here. I stopped by the mgr and asked if I owed anything for the chips with no salsa and also the very poor service and attitude. Won't go back to this location. read more

Just DON'T go there! The restaurant appeared to be busy, but we were seated immediately. That is the ONLY good part! The salsa that we were brought could have been mistaken for ketchup! Same taste and consistency. Although we ordered our food and drinks the wait for our cokes took over 20 minutes and the margarita was even longer! When we saw another table get a different type of salsa we asked about it and waitress told us it was spicy - what? We like spice-Couldn't we have had a choice at the beginning? Food came out wrong but it had taken almost 90 minutes ~ 90 MINUTES! ~ so we told waitress that we would just go with what we got! Quesadilla had little to no cheese on it. I will start with the positives: 1. The restaurant itself had an interesting industrial theme when compared to its counter part on Green River Road. It was also very clean. 2. The wait staff, while very busy, were attentive. Our waiter stopped by the table several times to check on us. Our food and drinks were served promptly. Unfortunately, that's as good as it gets. 3. The chips and salsa were typical Hacienda fair as was the strawberry margaritas. We should have stopped there. 4. The food was salty. We ordered a wet burrito and a steak quesadilla. After eating a few bites of my wet burrito, I think I may need to go to the hospital. Several hours after my meal and I still feel dehydrated due to the salt. When we told the waiter about the issue, I was extremely disappointed that management did not come out to address the issue and was told, "there's nothing I can do about that." I left 3/4ths of my burrito on the table and half a steak quesadilla there. While I wasn't expecting 5 Star Mexican food, I did expect better. Needless to say, I won't return. read more

My favorite Mexican place! Pro tip - when you go you ask for the green salsa and pico de gallo. It's free, but they'll only bring it if you ask. The ranch dressing is the best you will ever have. Sounds silly, but they make it themselves, and it's a must-order to dip your chips in. My favs on the menu are the wet burrito, which is HUGE and the Taste of Hacienda is a great option if you can't make up your mind or want to split a meal with someone. There are daily specials which are a good deal. You can get a super cheap lunch, and they have usually have drinks specials. Great margaritas! Other positives are: -This Hacienda has a fantastic bar section and patio - Great for large groups. - Fun for drunken adults but still kid-friendly. (Loud, casual, and decent kids' menu) - Service is usually great. - Food often comes out pretty fast, even when with a big group. - Unlimited chips are truly endless, and if you eat them all up, they WILL immediately bring you more until you are too full actually to eat your meal. read more

Salsa - bought from Schnucks. Retried beans - also from a can. I ordered steak fajitas, and the meat was roast beef. Went to Darmstadt Hacienda to celebrate a 50 birthday. Party of 12. Food was excellent but service was poor. Our waitress Deb was rude from the start. Sister never got appetizer and 2 of us never received sour cream. She couldn't remember who got what. And never returned to fill glasses to which we had to wait till end of meal to get then had asked for the sombrero and dessert for birthday lady. Got hat but was told to busy to get dessert and no one could sing either. Not sure she ever had a large group before by her actions. Will not eat if she is our waitress again. I went to Hacienda with a group of 14 last night. They were able to accommodate our large group without much wait even though they didn't take advance reservations. Hacienda has an option where you could order margaritas by the liter, which was great for our large group! The wonder of liters of margaritas was offset by the disappointing salsa. It's very weak and made me think too much of straight tomato paste. I added a ton of the jalapeño sauce that was on the table and still found the salsa not quite up to par. I ordered the "wet burrito" with shredded chicken for my entree. I really enjoyed the shredded chicken. It was very flavorful and moist. I wish it would have had a bit more sauce on it because if you're going to advertise your burrito as wet you need to make sure it's pretty sloppy! The food and experience was average. I wouldn't say this is a must-try for Evansville but I wouldn't avoid it either! Side note: check out the sinks/hand dryers in the bathroom. They're pretty cool! read more

The guy that made our guacamole put an entire cup of season salt in ... it would have been super good otherwise. The salsa needed more salt for sure so we mixed it with the salsa. The wet burrito was really hard to eat. The sauce tasted somewhat like gravy and I wasn't expecting that. My friend got the enchiladas and thought the same. The rice was crunchy. Horrible service tonight. When we arrived there were 5 employees standing around WITH the manager. We asked for a booth. We were told they were dirty. We asked them to be cleaned. They complied. Waitress promptly took our drink order. After 5 minutes we were served "chips" and salsa (not by our waitress). There were a few whole chips on top, the rest of the basket was small broken pieces. Finally got waitress' attention for fresh chips. We placed our order and in less than 10 minutes the waitress was sitting our food on the table, in front of us. Unfortunately, it wasn't our food. She was getting ready to walk off. She seemed rather annoyed at us that it wasn't our food. She did apologize and took the food to another table. Shocking! During this pandemic that food should have been re-made. We didn't see much of our waitress after that. Someone else delivered our food. Waitress never checked to see if our order was correct. It wasn't. The food was not very good. Never asked if we needed any more to drink. She quickly walked by; asked us if we wanted dessert as she laid our check down. Didn't really wait for a response. Hacienda must be a Spanish word for "Evansville Indiana serves crappy Mexican food". I ordered a chimichanga, which was presented to me as an old, folded up piece of white pastry with fake cheese inside. Not tasty. I poured some kind of green chili over it, but it was of little use. And the guacamole had a distinctly chemical taste to it. Do try the chips and salsa if you enjoy cold red tomato sauce out of a can and then poured into a bowl to be accompanied by tasteless wafers - I can't wait to die of botulism. If I do survive, I'll be sure not to pull into this place again for the next 50 years.
