What a find! I was invited to a tequila tasting and I wasn't sure what to expect. The owner, Omar, was amazing and had us try some fantastic tequilas. He gave us the history of each bottle and answered all of our questions. We had several appetizers and each was amazing! The best Mexican food I have had outside of my go to spot in Harlem. Came in on a Taco Tuesday got the special Tacos for my hubby and I got Shrimp tacos both with soft tortillas. Chips / Salsa and I added Guacamole spicy. Chips came in nice, warm, and thin crunch. Soo good! Tacos were fills up with meat, lettuce cheese and salsa on top. Nicely lay in the plate so its easy to grab. Its a really odd location but they have been establish for years. Visited Easter weekend for a birthday get together. I did like it, just not absolutely loved it. The place is nice and the staff was both friendly and helpful. The meal was gopd but a bit overcooked. Not bad just not good enough for a forth star. Plenty of parking and the bathroom were clean. Overall i would come back. read more

My local goto spot, for a nice sit down dinner. The place has gotten better over the years. It's a very cool experience with dishes that they will prepare infront of you at the table side. We came for graduation party with 30+ guests and really enjoyed ourselves! The ambiance was festive, the music was good and it was a buffet style with chips/guac/salads at the tables. There was a spread of fruit, salad, rice and peas, refried beans, chicken and steak enchiladas and fajitas. The sangria and the margaritas were a hit! Stopped by on a Friday night. Seemed pretty busy but no wait to sit down. Salsa was good, and they gave refried beans with the chips too. My coconut margarita was good. Entree portions were large and food was tasty. I liked the salsa sampler they gave me with my entree to add extra spice to the dish. Service was a little slow when trying to get a check. I recently ate here with a friend for lunch. The food is AhMazing!! I had the Enchiladas de Mole. She had Quesadillas they were cut into little pieces. Where do I even begin? I've been here a few times because it's close to home and I love Mexican food. The drinks are great. Haven't had a bad margarita from there yet, but the food ... ordered the salmon topped with shrimp both the salmon and the shrimp were overcooked. Ate at the bar and The manager there clearly had his favorite customers and treats them like royalty, but was not attentive at all to me and my guest. But the worst of it is that I had gotten takeout from there about a year ago and found an extremely long hair in my appetizer ! Threw the entire order out! Will never go back there. First time at Pueblo Viejo in many years. It's under new ownership and the new food is delicious! We started with the Cadillac Margaritas and the table side guacamole. The tortilla chips were warm and crunchy, the guacamole was very good. Then we had the shrimp cerviche which was very good I just wish there was more shrimp I believe there was only 3 medium sized shrimp on the plate. There should be 6 that would give a couple Sharing it 3 shrimps each. Then we split the red snapper special. Wow! I am still thinking about it today, it was crunchy, flavorful and so fresh. The side of rice and beans and guacamole for the meal were so good too. Everything tasted fresh. The owner Omar was behind the bar serving drinks he was very nice and welcoming. Update: I have diarrhea now Not busy at all yet the food took 30mins to come out. Asked for well done got medium rare. The food was not good. Ordered a meal that came with steak shrimp and chicken. The steak after being cooked was good and juicy. Everything else after that was not good at all. For it being so expensive it's a big waste of money. read more

We had such a great experience with this restaurant! We have been here a few times in the past and the food and service is always fantastic. The staff are always so kind and very attentive. I love their new tablet menus with pictures of all their delicious foods as well! My monster of a two year old ate EVERYTHING they made and the staff were very playful with him. We got here at about 6:45 on a Wednesday evening. Live music playing (too loudly but nice music) and the place was pretty empty. Three tables and about 12 people total. It took about 8 minutes to get drinks. Should have been a warning. Chips and salsa were very good. We had two servings and could have had two more on the time we waited for our food. They took our order probably about 15 minutes after we were seated By 7:20, the place was getting busy but we still didn't get our food. I called the server over and they said it was coming out soon. I decided that I would wait 15 minutes and if we didn't get service, we would leave money for our drinks and salsa and leave. After 15 minutes, I attempted to make eye contact with the server and he ignored us. I got up, took my wallet out and took cash out and put it on the table and walked out. While walking out, the original server and two other staff members watched me but didn't say anything so we left. read more

We started out with well made Margaritas. The chips , salsa and refried beans were flavorful and a nice touch. The waiter took our food order and drink order together. The drinks came right away. The food took forever to arrive. Unfortunately the waiter didn't check in with us until he delivered the food . I had Chicken Fajita and my wife had Chili Relleno. I have had Fajita in numerous restaurants . It's one of those dishes that is hard to mess up. They figured out a way to undercook half the platter and turn the rest in to charcoal. They managed to undercook my wife's platter ( the cheese center of the chili was not melted) . The waiter adjusted our bill ( 2 drinks were not changed) when we complained. We would have preferred an edible meal. The only reason I gave it a 2 was the good drinks and pleasant atmosphere. I've gone to this restaurant for over 15 years and have always enjoyed the food, and the ambiance is beautiful. However, since the ownership has changed, the food has gone downhill. Everything is extremely salty to the point where you can't taste the food. The prices have also risen tremendously. Now we go to Fiesta Mexicana on route 22 in Brewster, which is only about 10-15 minutes away. The food is outstanding, they have many more entrée choices to select from, and the price is a much lower. read more

OK...ate here 3 times. 1st time lunch menu: app; the shrimp "coctel" (NOT ceviche) was really good with lots of shrimp. Had coctel in another Mexican & both were about the same; served the same way, etc. OH, but Viejo ran out of cukes. Forget what I had for entrée; it was ok, nothing to write home about. 2nd time: for dinner order the coctel again. Hardly any shrimp (2 shrimp cut up) with mostly juice/liquid, $17.99. Only reason I went back to eat here was for the coctel. App; chicken mole; chicken breast was thicker than the shoe leather chicken at Las Mañanitas/Fiesta Mexicana (both owned by the same people). BUT chicken was overcooked; just more shoe leather. UGH Why do Mexicans or whoever cooks, overcook everything???? BTW, MY mole & salsa verde (made from scratch & my own tomatillos from my garden) is so much better!!!! 3rd time: Paella; freakin' horrible...!!! The mussels & clams were ok. The shrimp were HARD. NEVER had such hard shrimp before & they tasted like they were about to go bad. I should have spit them out in order NOT to get sick. The tiny 1/2 lobster tail was overcooked, dried out & hard. AND I found some kind wrapper in my rice...!!!! WTF...!!! $25.99 for sh*t...!!! Will not be returning. I do have to admit the staff are very nice. I do NOT like that Viejo charges a patron who uses one's credit card so Viejo is reimbursed by the patron for Viejo's charge by credit card companies. Damn, how cheap can one get...??? Service: spilt the margarita on the whole table, forgot the appetizers, and bought us a wrong meal when we tried to tell them we ordered something else told us that was what we ordered when we didn't. Absolutely horrible. We'll never go back. We decided to try this restaurant because we heard so many great things. I ordered shrimp fajitas $23.99. When I received my dish it was FULL of vegetables. Not peppers and onions the way it should be. Instead they added squash and carrots with some red sauce on top and THREE shrimp. We have been to plenty of Mexican Restaurants. I know what how shrimp fajitas are suppose to look and taste. This was not it. When I mentioned it to the waitress she responds by shrimp is expensive. Are you kidding me. I ordered through Yelp/grubhub and the order was 30 minutes late. I called for a status update and was told the driver would be here at 7:10. I called back at 7:30, now an hour late and was told by grub hub the driver was on the way. For the inconvenience they gave me $10 back. My daughter wanted Mexican food for her birthday and wanted to come here. We came for lunch and although the place was empty, it was definitely worth it. We ordered the Carlota which consisted of a chicken chimichanga and enchilada and the Rosita which was a beef chimichanga and a taco al pastor. First of all the chips and salsa were great! Chips were warm and the salsa was fresh. My beef chimi was the perfect size and the taco was soooooo flavorful. The rice and refried beans were great as well. So I decided to go here after not wanting to eat Wendy's. We got there at 7:20pm on a Saturday. We order simple things aka 4 chicken tacos, quesadilla, and chimichanga to take home. We literally waited 45 mins without complaining. Every waiter and staff I had asked where is the food, they kept saying 10, 7, 15 mins etc... finally I told them I don't want the order and they even said another 10 mins. The crazy thing about it is that I observed people coming in to order and getting their foods way before us. When asked why it taking forever, the waiter said because, the cooks are too busy. We always forget for some reason this Mexican restaurant is in this strip mall. But every time we eat here we love the food and definitely the ambiance. The inside is made up to make you feel like you are eating between buildings in Mexico. (I guess that is their goal) and for us it works great. The food is very tasty without being overly hot/spicy. Beer is always cold, and prices are perfect for what you are getting portion wise. read more
