I have been living in this apartment almost a year and never ever heard a pipe tapping or making any type of noise. So, now I'm crazy, and I'm hearing things. You don't know a damn thing about all this if you don't sleep in my apartment at night so you don't know what the hell is going on, you take everyone's word, if their lying you just go with the flow. I come home and all I ask for is peace without messing with me, you don't know anything about me, this is an everyday occurrence and waking me up out of my sleep at all times of the morning being disrupted and disrespectful, they have no proud and no matters either. I will never recommend anyone to live here. I didn't sign up for the shenanigans I been getting and I'm not about to let someone silence me either, if you come for me and I didn't call you, then you get what you put out. Now you can call me crazy all you like. But I'm well as I can be glory hallelujah. Don't ever tell me what's going on in my house not unless you walking in my shoes. Having to go back and forth to the doctor for migraines and tension, putting up with childish ass behavior from suppose to be grown ass people. I never had to live in a place like this, you all have your picks who you protect and who you don't. OK to be fair, this place does keep the outside looking nice, and the landscaping always gets attention. I wish they kept the INSIDES that nice and gave the RESIDENTS that much attention. It really isn't bad if you don't have very high standards and want to pay low rent for decent square footage. But understand that a few things really suck about this place: 1) The appliances are OLD OLD OLD, this includes the A/C unit, which barely keeps the place cool (and I have a brand new one! See notes later...) My stove doesn't tell me when the oven has preheated, and the knobs and lettering has worn off. 2) Nothing is efficient here. The windows let in and out all the heat and coolness. You can feel the summer heat radiating from the windows. I actually found GAPS in the window panes where they had slid - letting in bugs and spiders. Same thing underneath and sides of my two doors to outside. You can see the sunlight coming in (which means bugs and spiders too). So your electric bills will be way higher than they should be. 3) The hot tub by the pool doesn't ever function, or they never turn it on, I can't decide which. 4) I can't ever get anything fixed by the maintenance department unless it is something so simple I can do it myself (which I usually do to avoid the hassle of dealing with the office). Oh they show up within the hour every time I call...I just have to call them back 3 times and it still won't be fixed. 5) My hot water loses pressure after 5 minutes of use. 3 times I spoke with maintenance, who insists it always works fine for them and won't even try to figure out the problem. 6) I had to threaten to SUE them for violation of the lease agreement to get my A/C fixed. I kept a digital history-collecting thermometer in the apartment for 2 weeks. They argued that 90* in the evening was NORMAL for my living room. Uh, no. After several battles and calling a lawyer, they finally replaced the unit. It runs almost constantly, but it does keep the place at around 70* now. OK so those are just the big things jumping out at me right now. But really, it is relatively safe here. And these apartments are a big step up from the surrounding properties. So I guess it's alright if you don't have high standards for a comfortable place to live.

Luckily there was a cute little studio available, and within two weeks of speaking to Holly, I had moved in to my new apartment. The grounds are very well kept. There could be a few more pet stations, but once you know where the existing ones are, it's not too hard to grab a bag for your pup's poop. Parking hasn't been too much of an issue where I live. Even if you have to park in an "inconvenient" spot it is only twenty/thirty feet from your door instead of the normal ten. No one pays for the covered parking in my little nook (except the dude with the Lexus). My patio and window overlooks the parking lot, but I've never had a problem with noise. There have been a few incidents of people with their car radio too loud, or talking and laughing on the sidewalk, but that's usually on Friday and Saturday night and it never lasts more than 5-10 minutes. As far as noise in the apartment, they're insulated really well for being built in the 80s. I'm not even actually sure anyone lives in the apartment behind me. On the other side I know there's a guy because I can hear his shower/sink run. Nearly everyone has a pet, since these are the cheaper pet option in the Village. If you don't have a pet you might want to think about looking elsewhere, because people are always out with their animals, and there are at least 3 cats I see roaming around on a regular basis just around my apartment. The closet is pretty big for the size of the studio (420 sq ft) and the bathroom is fairly big, relative to everything else. I've been able to fit a huge dresser in the closet, along with all my hanging things; and a little cabinet in the bathroom, too. I've heard people complain it's kind of hard to make these apartments unique, because everything is so white, but really I think that's all based on your personality. I love my little space and I've been able to make it my own. I really love living here. But yeah, it's only been a month and a week so I'll try to update this after I've been here for 6+.

There are stray cats everywhere, roaches in the building, and outdated appliances that barely function, yet management is more concerned about my windshield than about providing livable conditions. I'm moving in a month and requested a temporary pass just to avoid the stress until I leave, and even that was denied. Meanwhile, there are multiple cars in the lot with missing parts, dents, and damage way worse than mine, but nothing is done about them. The hypocrisy and lack of consistency are infuriating. The fact that hot water and basic upkeep aren't a priority, yet a harmless windshield crack is treated like a crime, is beyond frustrating. I honestly cannot wait to be done with this place--it has become unbearable.

This is probably the longest review I have ever written…read more I have lived here in the past back in 2019, I enjoyed the community so much that I came back. It's safe, peaceful, and quiet for my family and I. I love the location because I have access to both major highways. However, I was a little hesitant because what I use to pay compared to what I currently pay for the same floor plan is pretty crazy, but seems normal with the market. Everything have been renovated since and I do have an attached garage with a yard. I could have went to a cheaper property. What really won me over was Layne and Georgia. I suddenly had to move and been to so many properties. The quality service and the treatment I received was beyond amazing and was consistent . The apartment was ready, but need some tweaks here and there. The office and the maintenance team were so quick and on it. I submitted my requests one night & the maintenance crew were already working on my requests the next morning. I spoke to Manny and he was so nice and informative. I'm pretty confident that I made the right decision choosing prairie creek as my home.

We were told we could have a gas grill at first which I agree the office leasing assistant misinformed us but then we were told we could have an electric grill. Even the current manager at that time had one. We received a lease violation for using ours without any correspondence from the office which is a big issue with the current management group. We were told we could not use a electric grill because the City Fire Marshall said it was not permitted. I called the City office and was told that he did not say that and as long as it was 10ft from garage you would use it in the city. Now we are told that it is a Cortland thing...Ok fine...we use the grills around the pool areas that may or may not be locked or may or may not be out of propane. Again lack of communication from office. We have lived her for going on almost 4 and half years. We enjoy the outdoors so we hang out in our garage and watch football, play darts etc...and sometimes have friends over. We just recently received another lease violation staying that we cannot use our garage except for storing vehicles or storage. We did see that in our lease but no one has ever not let us do this. In fact I have always been able to use the garage for whatever we wanted. We are very respectful of our neighbors and have had the same ones for years with exception to one. They have even come over from time to time. We shut everything down or lower the volume at 10:00.... I feel uncomfortable with the situation we are being handed. I feel like we are being confined to the inside of our apartment. I have walked about and see flags handing from patios (that we were told we had to take ours down couple years back)...vehicles over fire lane that we were told you would be towed....even a pool table in a garage where that resident hangs out with friends. I feel like the rules do not apply to everyone. This is a non smoking community and if you walk around you see and smell cigarette smoke and marijuana... If the office would walk the community like I would if I was management they would see these things. In the summer, I cannot count how many times the restrooms have been locked at phase 2 pool. They should be open for the residents to use to keep the pools clean. The phase 1 pool in order to use that restroom you have to go through a coded door to the gym tracking water through there. We used to be able to use the outside door. I really did love living here and even referred people here. It was once a great place to live. I want to stay here but not sure I feel comfortable. I know that there has been a company that has acquired the property and if that is true would love to see what they can due to make the community great again. I want to feel like they care! One last thing----The maintenance team is TOP NOTCH!!!!!!! They are the best maintenance team I have ever had!! Very disappointed resident...
