I own a 2016 5 series BMW and I was looking for an option besides going to the dealer. I read the reviews on Yelp and called this place. Casey was great as advertised in previous reviews. I have never dealt with a shop that had so many great qualities. Casey was a polite and friendly pro from beginning to end. He took the time to explain options along with all of the pros and cons. If I was considering opening a shop or starting a franchise, I would do everything I could to recruit this guy. Professional, efficient, honest, trustworthy, informative. If you have a BMW or Mercedes, take your car here for service or anything else. BTW, when he called me to tell me my car was ready, he forgot to tell me about one of the charges when he summarized everything. My final invoice did not include the charge he forgot to tell me about even though the service was performed. It was indeed something that he told me about before the work was done so it wasn't a surprise. He did not leave the charge off by accident. He said it was a discount based on his mistake. I have taken my 2007 BMW 328XI here for all of its maintenance since I got it in 2020. I truly trusted them. I took my car in for an oil change + $100 for "service". I got front tires, alignment, cabin & air filter, and power steering o-ring. $1000. My car keeps cutting off. I took it back, and was told no codes are coming up, but they suggested spark plugs & a brake fluid flush & fill up with premium gas. I had another mechanic put in my spark plugs. He said SEVERAL codes came up. I need a crankshaft sensor & an O2 sensors. Codes came right up! Plus, there is NO antifreeze in my car & my power steering fluid is low. WHAT? Fluids aren't a part of the $120 + $100 oil change/service? And why didn't these codes come up? Just imagine the damage to my car if I drove around in this condition & trusted Hafkemeyer's assessment? I could've got cheaper tires, held off on the filters if I had known of these more major issues. Lesson learned. I have a new mechanic and he's mobile. read more

I took my 2004 Mercedes clk to repair the top. Casey is nice but told me it's $400 to examine to which I agreed. After the Mercedes tech examined there was a quote for $5,100. I also brought in used radiator overflow tank to which the Mercedes tech said it was too dirty for him to install so I bought a new one. $650 later tech left wires rubbing against fan blade so another trip Bach to shop. Found another shop for $1,850. Very expensive for shoddy work. read more

Quick and easy to get to right off the main drag in the Waldo area. They seem to really know their stuff. I brought my car in to be looked over because I ran into a curb. They showed me all the damage to the body that wasn't visible around the wheel structure and engine. They made a recommendation that I follow up with my insurance colony because this would likely be a very costly repair and couple potentially be frame damage to my car. The I did get an oil change while I was there as well I didn't think it would be total worthy so I went ahead and did it anyway. $215 seems steep for an Indy place for an oil change even doing a multi point inspection. I get they are a small business but they are a busy business and this was mostly labor charges for what amounted to maybe 30 mins of work at most. A bit of overkill this was the same price I would have paid at the dealership. So much for a saving by going to an independent place. read more

This a GREAT shop for German auto. I've had my BMW to them a couple times for different jobs (enhancements AND repair) and they're great about service, explanations, and general knowledge. I also love the fact that they may be booked solid but can find some time to work your car in between appointments, which has happened to me...and I'm grateful. The ONLY aspects I can gripe about are their strict Mon-Fri schedules and the lack of loaner vehicles from time-to-time. I like Baron Service because they're open on Saturdays and great about loaners, but overall, between the service, pricing, availability, and full capabilities of this team, Hafkemeyer is a fantastic shop in town that you won't be disappointed with. read more

WAY overly Priced at $2400+ for water pump Job and they did nothing to fix car in almost weeks time with no Calls to tell me what's going on and then charges me over $100 just to tell me what I already knew and told them. I have used Baron, Autobahn Motorwerks and these guys. I will say, these guys will get my business from here on out. Baron is nice because of the new loaner cars, but apparently Hafkemeyer will loan you one of theirs if you need it. I recently had a growing coolant puddle underneath my 98 M3. Not too much of a surprise with the fragile cooling system in the E36 M3's. When I called Casey seemed to have social skills that a lot of independent shops seem to lack when conversing on the phone. He was able to get me in with in a day or two. On the day of the appointment he diagnosed the problem, and gave me a quote with in several hours of dropping the off the car. He said he had all of the OE (which is important to me) parts in stock and would be able to complete the job by the close of business. Further, he was able to answer my super nerdy questions, such as what is the replacement water pump impeller made of? Towards the end of the day he called and told me the fan clutch has also been determined to be bad, but it wasn't in the original quote. Some people might call this an up sell, or something like that, but I see it as them being thorough and trying to avoid future trips to the shop. I'd much rather get it done all in one shot. Their prices weren't amazing, but they are cheaper than the dealership. I will note, I am a car enthusiast and consider myself an educated consumer when it comes to automotive maintenance issues. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars: I got home with my nearly brand new cooling system (short of replacing the radiator), popped the hood to check out the handy work and notice there was coolant everywhere. At this point it was after 5:00PM, I called Casey, who requested I bring the car back ASAP for him to look at. He stayed after COB and waited for me to get there. He looked it over and took quite a bit of time cleaning everything up. He never really figured out exactly where the coolant came from. I assume the coolant was overfilled and once the engine temp came up it belched coolant everywhere. Regardless, after the clean up, the car has not leaked a drop. Since the cooling system repair, I have taken the car to one SCCA SOLO event and one track day at the Heartland Park road course. Four 20 minute track sessions, and the temperature gauge never budged off normal and still not a drop of a leak. read more

I took my car in because I had a "check engine" light on. Hafkemeyer had replaced a part less than a year ago which had malfunctioned. When I went to pick up the car, he told me that the part was under warranty and that I would not be charged for repairing my vehicle. In addition, I left several hundred dollars (by accident) in the console. Not a penny was touched. Honest business, good service. If you have a German vehicle, look no further. read more

During Oct 2015, our 2002 Mercedes Benz (MB) C230 suddenly developed a problem with its transmission: * Frozen in one gear only with the inability to shift up or down, and unable to remove the ignition key under normal circumstances. Since we were about to sell our MB (with a trade-in value of ~$2K) and get a new car, we looked around for a reasonable repair shop and finally ended up at Hafkemeyer Motors (HM). Casey Reese (manager of HM) told us that the problem may be either electrical or mechanical, but since the car was still drivable, it was probably electrical in nature and that would result in repair costs in the lower end of the range, estimating the amount to be as low as $400. Because of their familiarity with the problem our MB was having, we had it delivered to HM on Oct 27, 2015. We asked them to give us an estimate when they diagnosed the problem. A few days later, Casey Reese called us and estimated the repair charges to be $800, with a minimal chance that it may be more. Later when HM called and notified us that the repair was done, we were told that the repair charges were over $2000. We asked why the charges were more than twice their estimate, they said that more repairs were needed, but they never contacted us for authorization. Although we were very disturbed by the unauthorized charges, we paid the bill of $1954.07 anyway. We asked them to give us the parts that had been replaced as evidence that the alleged work had in fact been performed, which they did provide to us. We picked up the MB on our way to work on Nov 10, 2015, at 8:27am (date and time of payment on bill #2913). Upon leaving, we drove less than a block, and the MB continued to have the exactly same problems it had before the alleged repairs were performed: * Frozen in one gear only with the inability to shift up or down, and unable to remove the ignition key under normal circumstances. We returned the car to HM and let Casey Reese and the owner (Andy Scott) knew of our dissatisfaction of a bill more than twice the original estimate, and the problems remaining unchanged. They took the car back to find the actual problem. We were called later the same day and were told that our MB had been repaired and was ready for pick-up. The receipt of the work that actually fixed the problem (bill #2991) is marked Nov 10, 2015, at 9:06am (less than 1hr after we left), and the repair was "replace shifter assembly". When we asked for the old parts, HM was unable to provide and told us they had to ship the old parts back to MB (however they did provide us the old parts the first time, how interesting!!). We offered to pay for the second repair because it fixed the car, but not the first repair because the parts replaced did not affect the problem. The owner declined our offer, gave us our keys and asked us not to return by saying; "we'll eat the cost this time, please don't come back". However he never honored his words and refused our request to refund our payment of the initial bill. In the end, we brought the case to court. At today's court hearing, the owner of HM (Andy Scott) presented that: 1) Regarding the parts (shifter assembly) that was used for the second repair, HM had to wait for 3 days to get the new parts shipped to them. However, the fact was that they fixed the car by "replace shifter assembly" (as clearly indicated on bill #2991) within half hour after we returned the dysfunctional car back to the shop; moreover, we were informed on the same day that the car was ready for pick-up, and when we picked up the car the following morning, we were told that they were unable to provide the old parts. Where did that 3-day waiting period come from?? 2) The owner also argued that if we disagreed with the charge, why did we refuse their suggestion of letting them remove the new parts they installed? That is a lie too, because when we picked up the car the second time and debated about the fairness of the charge, the conversation ended when the owner finally said to us "we'll eat the cost this time ... please don't come back"; with that, there was no need for us to pursue other options, so we left the shop assuming that they would return our payment, however, it was apparent that he changed his mind after we left. We are currently waiting on the conclusion from the judge. Our bottom-line message to Hafkemeyer Motors Inc: dishonesty is not going to fly in business, so stop it. read more

I went to them out of necessity but had a great experience with them! They helped me find a tow company and got the work done quickly. They called me for updates frequently and were very friendly and knowledgeable. Hafkemeyer Motors was, in my opinion, far better before the original owner sold it. In June 2015, I had nearly $4,000 worth of work done to my car (well, it was actually $3,967 or something like that) and one of the areas I was concerned about is the steering wheel. It still isn't fixed properly and now that I've had my car shipped to the east coast, I obviously cannot take it back to Hafkemeyer to have them look at it. So I'll incur yet another expense of having the steering wheel repaired here. In addition, something very disturbing happened while my car was on the Hafkemeyer lot -- it was "broken into" and very specific parts were stolen. I filed a police report because the owner did not file one, claiming there was no damage. There was damage done to my car -- there were parts ripped out of and off my car! I incurred yet another $498 expense replacing parts that were stolen. What I haven't been able to determine is why the work order to replace the stolen parts appears to have been generated before the date on which my car was vandalized. read more

Hafkemeyer Motors made several repairs on my car, but my car continues to stop on me all the time because it is still misfiring. Hafkemeyer Motors allegedly repaired the misfire. I have had my car towed several times after the recommended repairs. The car even stopped on Andy the owner. One time I had the car towed to Quick Trip a block away from Hafkemeyer Motors because they were closed. The next morning I spoke with Casey and he wanted to charge me $65.00 to tow the car a block away from them. I had to contact another company to tow the car a block away to Hafkemeyer Motors. I have contacted Hafkemeyer Motors on several occasions about my car still not running properly. Casey always tells me to bring the car in for additional repairs that is costing me more money. I have spent almost $2,000.00 in repairs to Hafkemeyer Motors. I have spoken with Andy the owner about my complaint and concerns. Again, I did the recommended repairs and my car is still not running properly. Andy is hardly ever there to speak with. I should be able to speak with Andy the owner of Hafkemeyer Motors who is never available. I feel as though Hafkemeyer doesn't know how to repair my car and they should have told me that instead of take my money. I currently can't drive my car because I don't know when it will stop on me. I believe unnecessary repairs were recommended by Hafkemeyer Motors. I would not recommend Hafkemeyer Motors to anyone. read more
