They carry high quality grass fed beef, organic chicken and a great selection on A2 milk and raw cheese I care about my families health and mine so I look for high quality items and for what I have found since moving here is Haggens is the best. Been going to Haggen Oriental to get food for years. Went today with my son to get lunch and realized they want 12$ now for a 2 item for half the food. Not only that the fried rice was under cooked and hard still the broccoli beef was mushy and disgusting the chicken is not even real chicken anymore some pre-made chicken nuggets they just fry up and toss sauce on. 20+ years been going but sadly my family will also no longer be going to get food from here anymore. read more

What a disappointment ! My family and I have been going to Haggen's for years to get Chinese food and sandwiches. We went there tonight and they changed their pportions to the very miminimal but are charging the same price as the pportions we loved . We will not be back until something changes. What a beautiful store. Everything is so nicely presented and the personnel are delightful. Shopped here for years when we lived in the area. Came through and picked up lunches and both of us said they were delicious! The deli department is awesome. This place is great. I loved their selection of standard & typical items as well as gourmet & healthy/natural items. Very clean, tidy and nice. -Standouts: I noticed some local offerings I've yet to see at places I've seen back home in the Seattle area. I get thirsty, as is often the case for sentient beings. So, I send my owner in with a giant blue jug to fill with water. Only the finest H20 for this handsome, fuzzbound, underground Gandalf...according to my owner, this so-called water dispenser starts wailing like a tone deaf leprechaun the moment he pushes the start button. Has anyone ever serviced this water dispenser? Is the water actually purified, or laden with the mournful, wailing spirits of 1000 undead? Time to get it fixed, Haggen. Haggen constantly receives old product from other stores in their chain and doesn't rotate the stock they have. We gotten everything from an 8 year old banquet family turkey tray, to month past date frozen meat that had been refrozen, canned good 3 years past date, to precut deli meat that was rotten in the package due to improper refrigeration or being placed back in the cooler after being left somewhere in the store. They also mislabel meat as a scam. Marking steaks as ribeye when they are tough lower grade rib steak that isn't even marbled. The whole meat section always smells of decaying blood and ammonia. The only good portion of the store is their asian foods section. read more

I'm basing this review on my experiences in the deli. It's just an excellent value for the price. It's a cheap quick decent lunch and the seating area is quite relaxing. A full service deli here, and nice seating area with fireplace. Dedicated section of health foods ie. flaxseed, quinoa, etc. Plenty of booze on the left, though no Cognac higher than VS... Most of the shoppers seem to be old White, Baby-Boomers and WW2 Generation who have probably lived in Skagit County their entire lives and been coming to this store since they were kids. They all seem to know each other and clog up the isle ways chatting so you can't get around. Then of course, none of them can hear you if you politely say 'Excuse me, please." A little routine I have regardless of where I go is to use the restroom. How someone takes care of the dirtiest room in their house or facility sets the stage. When I first moved here entered this chain It seemed like a very clean business. Everything is placed and organized in a very pleasing manner. However I was kinda grossed out by the restroom. I completely understand some people have free range teenagers who for some reason can't stand the sight of an unmarked clean wall that's no fault to the business itself. It was the dried fecal matter around the toilet and the toilet seat that looks like it's suffering from ptsd that got to me. This store has narrow aisles, a very confusing layout and just feels tired. Not sure when the store was built but likely has not had a facelift For a high-end grocery store - I expect more. The Bellingham stores are much nicer. The checker did not give me all my purchases and had to go back in when I realized it. She did not apologize just handed me the bag. For May and June, my coworkers and I met at this Haggen in their dining area for a few hours each morning. At least half of us ordered something every day, even if we didn't want anything, just because we felt we should since we were using their space (though it's not required to buy something to use their space). We were always very aware of the other customers, so the more people who came in, the more we tried to consolidate and use less space, fewer tables and chairs. We also made sure to clean our tables, and put them back before we left. The employees of Haggen were very rude to us. There were other groups that met there, all bigger than ours, and they didn't take any of the steps we took not to be a bother. But they weren't there every day, so they weren't treated badly. Also, a single person drinking a cup of coffee and nothing else could take up a whole 4 person table by themselves and sit there for hours, and not be treated badly. I don't know why our meeting there daily made our presence such a bother to these employees, but they went out of their way to make us feel incredibly unwelcome. Two people specifically - the main cashier in the area, Suni, and the Store Manager, Andy Haggen. Mr Haggen would pace about us looking irritated, and would grab chairs away from us to put at other tables, even if we were using them. One day I had my arm resting on the back of the chair next to me, and he literally just grabbed the chair out from under my arm, yanked it away, and went and put it somewhere else. Not even an "excuse me." He would clean around us in such a way that made it clear that we were in his way, and he was trying to make us uncomfortable. Suni would give us dirty looks, even when I was going to buy food. Occasionally I would just buy coffee, but most days I bought a full meal - sometimes I even bought several meals, so I would have stuff to last me the rest of the day. On more than one occasion, I even bought groceries. Yet when I would go to pay for my stuff, she was always rude to me. I was a paying customer, and I was not responsible for the company's decision to meet in this location, but she treated me like it was my fault, and that we were horrible for being there. I hadn't been back for a few months, now, and I was in yesterday. I bought a full meal to eat for lunch, and she was the cashier (now calling herself Annavieve). She looked at me like "Oh great, it's you" and was rude to me! Not only was I a paying customer who had never done anything to her, but we weren't even meeting in their store anymore. I don't know why she seemed to take our presence so personally. She's just an employee. But she definitely seemed to be territorial over the place, and bound and determined to drive us out and make us never want to come back. I would've understood their frustration if we were loud, or messy, or didn't buy anything, but I will never understand their downright hostility, and then add to that that we were considerate and polite and clean, we did not deserve to be treated that way. And I certainly don't deserve to be treated that way now when I go in as a regular customer. read more

As far as I'm concerned this is the best large grocery store option in the area. Food Pavilions don't compare - no way, no how. Haggen's selection is broad even with the organics and bulk items, the store is bright and clean, I've always received friendly service, they sell amazing Christmas trees at incredible prices, their flowers are usually healthy, they sell the most beautiful, hearty tulips for an extremely fair price, there's ample parking, and the store is in the vacinity of a lot of other commerce. I can't comment on their ready-made deli items. I really like this grocery. read more

We have been shopping at the Burlington Haggens for a long time. I love shopping there for several reasons but the main reason is the people that work there are so nice and so helpful. Last week we were in the bakery area and the lady behind the counter saw we were trying to find something and before we could even ask she came out and asked if she could help us. We said we wanted half of a pie and she offered to cut one for us, we didn't even have to ask. Also the meat department manager is always so helpful. The checkout people are just as nice and helpful. It is a bit more expensive to shop there but I find it so worth it. Keep up the good work Haggens. read more

If you want a cheap and delicious lunch that will make the whole family happy, Haggen's is the place to go! Their marketplace has tons of different foods to choose from! My usually choices include a tuna salad sandwich and fruit cup from their fridge section, a 1/2 California Chicken Panini w/ a cup of soup (the sandwich is to die for and all their soups are great) from their sandwich shop, a Blazing California roll from Hissho sushi (forgive my spelling?), chicken tenders and Jo jos from the deli, and loaded baked potato salad/Greek pasta salad/or ANY side dish from their deli. They also have Chinese food and a fish and chip special on Fish Friday that I haven't tried but heard is great. (Btw, sushi is on sale Sushi Wednesday!) Anyways, Haggen's also has desserts like cookies, nanimo bars, cakes, brownies, etc... That can be found in the marketplace or bakery. I love the grocery store, but am always disappointed with the Market Deli area. The foods are so heavy and greasy. I've ordered paninis and chinese food, etc. and each time I feel like there is a rock in my stomach after eating there. I was so disappointed in Haggen seafood after spending over $100 on dinner of steak and King crab for our anniversary dinner my husband brought it home and it was so obviously rotted and spoiled it stunk up the house!! I bought a package of chicken breast and chicken thighs, on Wednesday the 27th for dinner, I used the breast because there was plenty, was saving the thighs for a couple nights? Well my fridge started to stink? Come to find out the chicken thighs expired on Sunday the 25th? My question is, why am I buying food that have expired two befor the day I buy them? Went in a number of days in a row and was told every time that they would have what I was looking for the next day in the bakery department but they never did. Also their signs block the sidewalk and you have to duck under them or walk into wet grass instead being able to just walk along on the sidewalk as one should. The SRC Derm team went to Lunch for Fridays fish & chips at Haggens Burlington food court. We only get one hour to eat, so we phone ordered 8 meals. Liz was our customer service representative, we asked her to have the order ready for us as fast as possible. Not only did she have it ready for us when we arrived, she managed to get all of our orders correct! Liz was amazing and the food was so delicious!!!! Its a must try!!! Why Was this Grocery Store Still Like A Ghost Town The Last Weekend Before Christmas? Yesterday 12/21/2013 after I "fought" to push through my shopping carts through the holiday-shopping crowds in Chinese Ranch Market in Lynnwood WA and then in Fred Meyer, Burlington WA, I still had to run into this whitest and most expensive grocery store nearby to get two pieces of beef tenderloins and a bottle of locally-made Whiskey (made in Woodinville WA) which my white husband wanted. The whole store had probably at most 20 customers, including people were checking out and walking in. I do agree with some of the reviews here that this is a specialty store that carries some of the good stuff that you can't find somewhere else-- and that's probably the only reason this store is still here with its uptight management and staff. After I read one of the reviews here giving only one star, it was re-confirmed I did not misjudge this store when I sent an email directly to the store website complaining about its bad customer service because this store does not treat all customers the same no matter what their origins, skin colors, ages, genders, income, or appearances, etc are. As an Asian, I am not fond of non-colored people treating me differently because I am different. I am particularly not fond of this young man/store staff who treated me badly because it appeared it was very difficult and a lot of work for him to pick two pieces of decent and same size beef tenderloins (costing me more than $28.00) from a glassed display cabinet out of total about 6 pieces of them. Given the facts that I am probably older than his parents, my son may be older than him and is being deployed overseas (U.S Navy), I work more than 40 hours a week at customer services front line too almost 9 years, my husband is an Army Infantry veteran working more than 70 hours a week, I believe I deserve much better customer service than what I can get from this store, not mentioning that his over-eaten/sugar-poisoned adolescent girl friend (if any) might still get jealous of old Asian women such as me because we try to eat and live as if there is a tomorrow and people such as this young man and his overweight girlfriend show us that we are better persons and deserve better life. Life is a circle of cause and effect. We all know it will teach them lessons eventually anyway, therefore we stay happy and young no matter how life treats us. Evidently this town has some people/businesses that only want to treat/serve their own people that they like. If you don't belong to their circles, you don't get good treatment. We called the Seafood Dept. to see if we could order lobster through them. We were told by the Seafood Manager that we could and that the cost was $22+ for 1 1/2 pounders. We asked THREE times if that was per lobster or per pound. We were assured it was per lobster. Until this morning. Then it became per pound! I can't shop at a place that behaves in such a manner. So we drove to 99 Ranch in Edmonds. 3 lobsters closer to 2 pounders cost us less than the smaller ones we were quoted.
