Their hot pot is soooo good! Food and broth is consistent, authentic, and very tasty. I live 40 minutes away and still come here at least once monthly. It is pricy hot pot but worth it. I like how my kids get complimentary kids meals with nuggets, pig face buns, and fruit. Sometimes they give my kids free toys. I've been to this Haidilao several time and I can confidently say that the service here is amazing and the food is extremely tasty. I want to bring special attention to a server name Hsuan. Location & Decor: They're located in the same plaza as 85 Degree C so it can get quite packed in the parking lot. However, I was able to still find a spot fairly quickly at 1pm on a Sunday. They have claw machines and some chairs outside in the case you have to wait. Once indoors, there were plenty of tables and it was really clean. Food & Drink: Food was good. They have a whole stand for you to walk up and build your own sauce. You can choose up to four different broths for your table, and there are plenty of meat, veggie, and noodle options for your hotspot. They also have some appetizers you can order as well. I think the quality of the food was great and the portions were standard. If you want some impressive entertainment, you can order the dancing noodle and they'll come to your table with a portable speaker and someone will do the hand-pulled noodles in front of you via a dance (Google haidilao dancing noodle if you're curious). Service: Service was excellent. They seated us at the table, provided the women with hairties and gave everyone an apron. The server then walked us though how to use the tablet to place our orders (it was our first time), and poured us all a glass of water. We had also ordered a watermelon juice which came in a pitcher and they brought cups and poured those for us as well. When the food items arrived they always informed us of the recommended cook times. There's also the little server robot that brings food to your table too! First timers and will not be back. We weren't greeted or even shown how to order the general attitude was as if they didn't want or care about our business. Our server Tim was terrible and we had to constantly remind him to bring us drinks, utensils and the food we ordered came out extremely late and at different times it was a mess. He would not have checked on us at all unless we flagged him down. However, he was very attentive to other tables, but kept ignoring our table. We felt discriminated against because we are not Asian. Honestly my fav hotpot place in the Houston area right now. The quality of the broth and the food was excellent, the service was prompt, and this place is SO extra in all other aspects. They give you an apron, hair tie, and there's complimentary mouthwash in the bathroom! And there's a robot that delivers your food! And you can order hand pulled noodles, which is served to you after they pull the noodles while dancing. We ordered a ton of meat and veggies, and had four broths (we asked what was commonly ordered and we just got that). The mala broth was super delish and spicy. There was a broth that was spicy and had cabbage in it (made me think of kimchi) that was also so good. We also got the sauce buffet (it's like $2 per person, which is different from other hotpot places) where they give you recipes to make a yummy sauce. It's not all-you-can-eat, so the $$ can certainly add up! Getting a table on a weekend was difficult, since they don't take reservations on weekends and we had a party of 7. They seated the 7 of us at a table meant for 6 since they said we would've needed to call in for a reservation earlier for a party of 7+. It worked out though, and the staff was super accommodating. It is a good place. The food is above average for me. The service is very good. Price is a bit higher than I usually spend, but I can see it's worth it. The dancing noodles are a novelty, but I would not get it more than once. The other noodles on the menu are better and you do not have to pay extra for the show. I actually hadn't heard of this place before. It was only after I came here and told people about it that people told me it was a big deal. I can see why it's a big deal! The restaurant has an interesting concept where the experience is more than just about food, it's about really high quality service that includes waiters giving you an apron, a hair tie to tie up your hair, a dancing noodle pulling guy, a robot to serve food, and some other services (which I'm not sure are included at this location but can include shoe polishing, painting nails, and a teddy bear to sit across from you if you decide to dine alone). The waiter will bring you an electronic menu and you can order from the iPad. The broth can be expensive so I just went with one of the medium priced ones for half and half. I then ordered a few food sets. Yes, it's a bit pricier that other hot pot places but the experience is really cool. If you pay $1.99, you get access to the sauce bar which includes, desserts, fruits, salads, pickled vegetables and more. Honestly, my favorite food was the brown sugar cakes. Fried to perfection and is oh so good! Unfortunately, this is located in Katy so it's quite far. I would come if I happened to be in the area but may not make the drive all the way just for haidilao. read more

To dine in, they take reservations and walk ins. I appreciate they offer hair ties for the ladies, baggies for phones and wipes for phone screen. The restroom is nicely stocked with q-tips, mouthwash, cotton pads, and things I can't recall. They give each person an apron to not get splatters from eating. They have a sauce bar that has ingredients to make your unique sauce. They also have edamame and fruits to snack on before or after your meal. There's usually snacks at the entry as soon as you walk in for yourself or the little ones. You have the selection to order the dancing noodles and receive a performance. The best hot pot in Houston! My friends and I love coming to this place whenever we are in Katy. The service is always great and the flavor to price ratio is the best, even compared to those in Chinatown. Tomato soup base is our favorite, but the tom yum is amazing too. We also do the seafood sampler, woodear mushroom, and a choice of veggies. This is an adequate amount for 2 people. This place brings back sweet memories. Me and my husband lived in Beijing with our oldest daughter for almost two years and used to frequent Haidiloa almost weekly while there. Of course food (only thing) is so much cheaper in China, so it was no surprise that the bill was three times what we paid there. They don't allow half orders, so you find yourself ordering way too much. The classic spicy is just as spicy as I remember...it will open your sinuses and take you clean out. JK. All and all, we had a fantastic meal, what we've come to expect from the Haidiloa brand. Come here to eat fresh, tasty food...but be mindful of your budget because it's super easy to rack up a bill (literally). P.S., hated their desserts on the sauce bar. You go get your seasoning sauces, and by the time you get back to the table, your food is already there. You rarely have to ask your server for anything, because tissues, a water pitcher, and hand sanitizer is already at the table. I have been wanting to try this place ever since I saw it pop up in Katy Asian Town! I got on the waitlist via yelp for dinner with my parents and this made the wait time way more manageable. When we were able to be seated our waiter was very nice and offered us so many things lol aprons to cover our clothes, alcohol wipes, plastic bag for our masks, and even hair ties to tie our hair. I thought this was all very nice because I've never had such hospitality when eating out literally ever. There was also a very thorough breakdown of how to order our food via the ipad at the table and the whole setup was very simple. We want it, we click. We opted to go for the Half traditional spicy (beware!!) and Half Tom Yum. There was an option for the half traditional spicy to be 20% less spicy than the default but we like spicy so we didn't alter it. We also ordered the vegetable combo that comes with things like enoki mushroom, spinach, cabbage, etc with fish, bean curd, and 2 orders of sliced beef. The soup came out pretty quickly and we waited for it to boil. My dad and I noticed that the spicy side had sooo many chilies (,: We like spicy but I think this was an overstatement. I already had my spicy sauce that I made from their sauce bar and just dipping the meat into the broth was way too much for me. It was good but I think that it was way too overpowering and also really oily. It's the kind of spicy that you can't taste anything else but the heat. I tried to cool down with the tom yum soup because I know that it is less spicy than the traditional but I was just not a fan sadly. My stepmom really liked it but I couldn't handle how sour the soup was and I usually don't mind sour. We were all sweating by the time we finished eating and honestly I think that it was just an okay experience for us. The service was amazing and I am still glad we were able to try it but I don't think I will be back anytime soon. I am not sure if the 20% less spice for the traditional spicy broth will make much of a difference for me. I think the only thing besides the service that I really liked was that they had good fried tofu/fish tofu. By the time we got home, all of our stomachs hurt really bad the rest of the night and I'm pretty sure it was from the soup being way too spicy. read more

I have to be honest, and say it was my first hot pot experience. I did not know what the heck I was doing and was in to much of a rush to enjoy the experience. For other newbies, you get your choice of broths or soup bases that come in a metal pot that can hold a choice of 1, 2 or 4 different broths. That pot fits in a hole in your table that warms the broth. You choose your vegetables and meats and add them to the broth once it is hot. 3 minutes to cook the vegetables and about 1 minute for the meats. You can add more to your order if needed. There is also a seasoning bar that you can get more flavors to add. But the coolest part is a little robot, cat faced waiter that brings your meats and vegetables out for you servers to pull from. Give yourself plenty of time. I will go back now that I have a better understanding of how it works. 4 stars because the place is clean and a unique experience.
