The inside is ambient and bustling. This is the perfect place to come with loved ones to just be together. It's pretty loud inside. Sometimes it makes it harder to communicate to the servers, but it doesn't take away from how good the food is. This is my favorite hot pot place to eat at because of the seafood and vegetable options. My fiancé and I really just focus on eating and feeling the atmosphere here. I also like how they sell REAL coconut juice from an actual coconut. The coconut is sweet instead of aged! Upside: most of the drinks are AYCE drinks, some are charged per drink. They announce 'last call' -- when final orders are made for each table before the restaurant closes. I believe it's a good way for customers to pace themselves before leaving near closing. Downside: I don't know if it's been fixed, but the labels at the sauce/veggie (?) table aren't completely visible, so it's hard to identify what kind of sauce is displayed. Service is also a bit delayed/flawed during busy times, so I suggest looking at the traffic. I know I am of the unpopular opinion out here, but I was highly disappointed in the hot pot place. I am the type of person who can eat hot pot every single day for breakfast lunch and dinner and this place has been very high on my list of places to try ever since I moved to Houston. We entered. I really appreciated their weight system. You sign in on the iPad and they'll eventually send you a text message while you're waiting. They have snack, and barley tea that you can serve yourself. The positive things I liked about this place was that they had a good variety of vegetables to offer. They had a good amount of seafood and meats to offer and they've had the most selection of broths. I've seen compared to other hot pot places. Couple of my friends ordered the number one broth and felt like they were dipping their food and oil more than broth. They said it tasted gamy and just like they were eating red chili pepper while the broth itself had no flavor to it. I ordered the number three the chicken broth with Mamma fish and I thought that was really good and flavorful enough to wear when I dipped my meats and vegetables in it only enhance the broth flavor. I also really like how by the sauce section they had certain salads that you can eat with your hot pot. Such as they had pigs ear that I saw they had some seaweed looking salad, a couple of other options I just can't remember at the top of my head. The service was so slow almost nonexistent. They ran out of a lot of items. We had to keep asking for them and keep reminding them to bring our order. The sauce selection was bare minimum in my opinion, for example they didn't even have peanut sauce. We also had gotten the all you can drink option and we had to keep flagging down and waving at waiters to come and fill up our juice. We only got our juices filled two times because of how slow they were in responding to us. Honestly, because the service was so slow we ended up just getting filled up from waiting and waiting and waiting. Anytime we reminded them that we didn't get a certain dish they would look at their iPad to question us as if we were lying. The worst part of all was the fact that they charged separate for broth and then separate for all you can eat. I've never seen a hot pot place like that. Do they expect us to just order that all you can eat and eat without having a broth? Smells amazing when you walk in. Overall, pretty solid AYCE hot pot experience here in terms of quality of food, but price and service could be improved. Pretty expensive, cost over $90 for just 2 people (tip + tax included). You have to pay for the AYCE options, but then on top of that you have to pay for your soup base. We got the split pot with the House Special and chicken soup with fish maw soup bases. The House Special was good, but after awhile it felt too overwhelming with spices and oil to maximize on the AYCE. Their cow figure that melts into the soup is so freakin' cute though! The chicken soup with fish maw was much more tame and sustainable for volume eating. The quality of meat is great, but service was a bit slow, and when on the 2 hour time crunch, slow service is the last thing you want. There's no tablet available to order dishes, so you have to wait for the servers to come by to take your orders. There's a self service sauce bar. I do love that they provide some bibs to help keep you clean. At the end of the meal they offer Blue Bell ice cream cups (chocolate or vanilla). Good quality meat for AYCE; I especially liked the beef tongue. Intestine was too fatty. The house special broth was maybe a bit too authentic for my Americanized palette (even mild got me coughing up). Like others have mentioned, the pricing is a bit deceiving, and ventilation here is not great (not that you can completely avoid hot pot smell on your clothes, but this place especially put a strong odor on me afterwards). For AYCE, it starts off around $28/per person and then you can either choose an individual broth ($6-10 depending on which size) or a shared two broth bowl for the group (about $14 total). So, it's about $35-40 per person for the AYCE. Lots of options to put in your hot pot (no bok choy though) n the meats tasted high quality as well. Broth wise, avoid the #1 broth bc that stuff was SPICYYY even at mild. Menu was aesthetic n easy to read though it would've been better to include small pics of hot pot stuff. Service - you order through the waiter so I suggest writing everything you want in your notes n just letting them read it rather then order as you go (bc depending on the noise lvl, might be hard to understand what both sides r saying). The waiters were nice and we did appreciate them trying to fix the spicy lvl problem of our broth, but it would've been nice if they were a bit more attentive Ambiance - smaller n less spacious than expected but very cute and aesthetically pleasing. My family, my friends and I were really looking forward to this all-you-can-eat hot pot experience, but it ended up being pretty disappointing. The concept felt very misleading because there were multiple upcharges for items you would normally expect to be included, and even the hot pot SOUP itself was an extra fee -- which is very odd for a hot pot restaurant. How am I suppose to do hotpot without soup??? On top of that, there's a strict 2-hour limit, which made the whole experience feel rushed rather than enjoyable. The confusion did not stop at the menu. My friend and I decided to try this new Ramen spot in Chinatown (Mensho). However, when I arrived the hostess informed me that it will be an hour & 45 minute wait which is ridiculously long considering it's been opened for a month & 2 weeks already. I was already waiting for 30 mins and didn't see the line progressing. So we just went next door to this spot. I was relived to see it wasn't that busy but it did pick up once we started eating. Our server attended to us right away & explained the menu. While he was friendly & helpful I honestly felt a little rushed from him, but nonetheless he did his job. So the AYCE for dinner is 28.99, which isn't bad but what's crazy is that you have to order the broth as well; and that's another 13.95. Who is going to a hot pot restaurant & not get the broth? You might as well just say $43 AYCE. A little deceiving but hey what can you do about it. They have several dishes on the menu that's not included with the AYCE, so those items are at an extra charge. Sauce station is labeled with a fair amount to choose from. They also have ice cream & fruits for desserts. We decided to order two broths; Tom Yum Soup & Pork Bone Broth. The Tom yum broth was bursting with flavor & it packed some heat to it. I was expecting a little more lemongrass but it was still a delicious broth. All the meats/veggies/noodles we got were pretty good especially the snowflake slice beef. It was nicely marbled, tendered and fresh. There was one item I ordered & I can't recall the name but it was vile. Other than that, everything else was good. I put off visiting this restaurant for quite some time because they didn't used to be AYCE but with the growing competition in the area they have converted luckily for us. The only thing to consider is that it's 26.99 per person regardless of lunch or dinner and then you have to also pay for the broth itself which is anywhere from 6.99-8.99 additional. They also charge extra for weekends as well. For broths I've had the Liu's house special soup base, duck with pickled radish, tom yum, and signature white pepper chicken soup. My favorites are the duck and the white pepper chicken. The pickled radish helps break up the heaviness of the hot pot which I like. The house special was too oily and heavy for me. They have a wide selection of meats, veggies, tofu, etc. Much larger than pretty much all of the other hot pot spots. The meat is also good quality as well. I usually get the housemade noodles, beef tongue, wontons, intestines, shrimp paste, money bags, cilantro meat ball, cuttlefish ball, and of course all of the other staples. While service was attentive there was quite a bit of confusion with what we had already put in vs what we got. There were items that we didn't get and when asked they said it was on the way but 30 minutes later we were still waiting so we put in another order and then ended up with two orders in front of us. I'm not sure if that's a kitchen or service issue. Overall, this spot has recently been my most frequented hot pot restaurant lately because of the quality and variety of items along with their flavorful broths. Most overwhelming and humbling hot pot experience I've had in Houston. Between the suffocating hot pot steam that blows directly into your face which they blame on the vent and the servers running around and talking to you as if the world was ending in 5 minutes, I thought I was on a battlefield. There is a 2 hour dining limit that they strictly enforce, but they won't tell you beforehand until it's time for you to get out. After that, the servers that you haven't seen for the entire dining service come rushing around 3-4 times reminding you that it's last call. Then they place the bill on your table, and if you don't put in a card within 10 minutes, they come around again to reposition the bill nearer to you as a reminder that it is indeed time to get out. 2 stars because the broth and options are pretty decent. However, there's no call button and no self service, so good luck flagging your servers down to get a refill of anything after your first round of food. My friend and I haven't seen each other for a decade so there was a lot of catching up to do. We ordered exactly one round of meat but otherwise was talking the whole time. We were no where eating out their entire inventory. There was also no people waiting so I absolutely do not understand the server's hair on fire attitude. I got to try liuyishou hotpot in Houston for a birthday dinner. It's been on my list of places to try in Dallas but I moved before I could get the chance. I got their house special soup base as an individual pot. I thought that I would get the cow soup base that would melt but I didn't know that it was only for the large pots I also got it with mild spice but it was still pretty spicy still. For meats I tried their snowflake sliced beef, new Zealand lamb, porkbelly, and crystal beef. My favorite was the lamb, since it is pretty fatty. It cooks really fast and will never be tough. I really liked this fortune bag looking item where tofu/bean curd is wrapped in a money bag design and filled with roe. I also got their lobster balls, fried bean curd roll, quail eggs, cabbage; and enoki mushrooms. Overall this is a pretty solid place, but I don't think it's worth the price because they charge for the soup base on top of the all you can eat fee, so it ends up being more expensive than you would expect. We had half and half of og spicy and I forgot the other lol. They were both really good but the spicy was really spicy for me. Like it was like the spicy built up over time, I'm so happy they gave us ice cream at the end! It is definitely a popular place and generally pretty crowded. Super pleased with Liuyishou. Came around 6:30 on a Tuesday; it was decently busy but luckily we didn't have to wait for a table. However, the employee who seated us was very emphatic about how we have a 2 hour time limit to eat. I'm not sure if they always enforce the 2 hour time limit or if it was just because it was dinner time with a good amount of people. While the AYCE price is lower than most other AYCE hotpot places, you do have to pay for the broth, so that brings the price on par with other places. They have a good selection of meats and veggies. I feel many AYCE places where you order the food through the server give kind of small portions on each place, but the portions were pretty big here. We also opted for the AYCD; the fresh watermelon juice was SO good - would definitely recommend. The interior is pretty spacious where the tables weren't squeezed super close to each other. I lived and worked in Shekou and Chengdu China, met my Chengdu wife while working in the heart of Sichuan province. I know what I like but my wife can only eat great Sichuan food. Liuyishou hot pot, which Chengdu is known for, checks the boxes for great hot pot, not just Sichuan food, like you can get at Cooking Girl or Mala, also great Sichuan restaurants but for THE best HOT POT until I find another, it can be found at LiuYiShou Hot Pot. For novice hot pot folks or someone who does NOT have a chinese speaking person with them for the chinese menu or just understanding the english menu, in addition to the rolled up proteins (pork, the more marbled beef (the higher cost fatty meat), chicken and lamb as well as fish balls and shrimp balls) , get the lotus, quail eggs, bean sprouts, cabbage, and enoki mushrooms. Obviously, you would do better with someone who knows the whole menu, but that is a good start to experiencing hot pot for beginners. Their mildest version is extremely spicy, which I like so beware for those who are not used to real spicy level. There's a good amount of meat selections, all good. Mussels are huge. Vegetables look like it's been sitting out for awhile and old. Everything was good until I opened the drawer on the side to grab more napkins. There's a lot of mice droppings! This disgusted me. Thinking it's just one drawer, I opened the one below where they store the bibs, there's even more mice droppings! I have been eying this hotpot restaurant for awhile. The waiter and waitress are quick and fast. There is also a bar where you can make your own sauces and get some sides. The table and chairs are really clean . Even though it's hot pot, the place is not that hot and is very comfortable. The quality of their food is really good. I recommend people who's never had hotspot before to come here. They also asked if there's anyone that has not been here before and they gave them a brief how to eat hot pot. We came around 6 PM on a Saturday night summertime And had about a 15 minute wait for a party of 4. Parking is out front and free . I like to park in the open and not in the garage. as always, make sure there's nothing in your car to avoid any possible break-ins. read more

Quite delicious hot pot spot in Chinatown that is AYCE! Same price all day lunch or dinner though they charge for the soup base and a small fee for additional unlimited non-alcoholic drinks and desserts. The space is decent sized but the tables are not very well thought out for eating with a group of more than two people. The way the table and chair arms are makes it hard to move around and swish-swish-slurp from the big hot pot. You need to let your host know upfront if you want to have individual hotpot vs big pot because that'll affect where you will be seated.The parking can be difficult since it is in Chinatown after all, with many other restaurants and retailers around. The menu is heavy and you can leave one on the table for ordering purposes later on. The server will take your order and bring the food/drinks out to the table, so head to the sauce bar once you place your first round. The sauce bar has less amount of sauces compared to other places I've been to but A-OK. There are a few cold appetizers, fresh fruits, and mini cake desserts at the bar too. The meat quality is very good and the seafood is fresh. There is an abundance of types of vegetables you can order here. The broth is also rich and tasty, but it is hard to slurp/drink the soup since they don't use bowls like most hotpot places do, instead they have flat rectangular shaped plates. The dessert menu here is more limited too...you have to order at a la carte prices if doesn't have the AYCE logo next to the menu item. Liuyishou is another AYCE hotpot location in Chinatown. They offer a variety of soup bases and items for their hotpot. They open until pretty late on the weekends. I have been a couple of times, and my favorite broth is the duck with Chinese pickled radish soup base. I have also tried Liu's House Special soup base with beef tallow in mild. Please start low on the spicy level or else you and your stomach and body will regret that decision. My spice tolerance is not the worst, so I can definitely handle some heat. However, the mild I ordered that night almost put me and my group into cardiac arrest. I think our mouths and noses were numb for like two hours after. If you like mind and body numbing spice, then I think this would be perfect for you. Some of my favorite items they offer are the home made shrimp paste and the house made noodles. The shrimp paste is really good and fresh. The noodles are chewy and bouncy. They also have a sauce and snack bar with rolls and desserts. The AC is weak in there, so I recommend dressing super light. You can feel everyone's steaming pot. We usually come out super sweaty, but at least we were burning calories while eating which might actually be a plus. The servers also come and check on us quite often during lunchtime, but there is a dinner time rush and service might be a bit expectedly slow during then. They also offer a 10% discount if you finish your dinner within one hour (5pm - 8pm). It was Szechuan based and was super spicy even for someone who enjoys spicy things so beware! My friend got the tomato soup base which was creamy and delicious. My favorite proteins were the snowflake sliced beef and sliced New Zealand lamb since these were super soft. Some honorable mentions for sides were the fish tofu, wontons, homemade noodles, udon, potato starch noodles, and deep fried pork slices. Be careful if you have a low spice tolerance since the pork slices do have a bit of spicy seasoning on it. There was overall good service. Our server was very patient and explained the process very well. The staff were also very attentive and came multiple times to make sure we didn't need to order any additional sides. The restaurant was very aesthetic as well with lots of seating. There was a bar in the back to make your dipping sauce and get additional sides. Hotpot is one of my favorite foods. We called in a reservation for lunch and were seated really fast. The store seems to be understaffed and our server was running all over the place, but we still got everything we wanted in a reasonable amount of time. The selection of meats and broths were amazing though. I opted for the Liu's house special spicy soup base (mild) because apparently it can get extremely spicy. The mild was tolerable, but even then some of my friends could not eat it. We ordered almost every meat cut available and also the lamb skewers. The lamb was not gamey at all! Some notable mentions are the stuffed tofu with fish roe and fresh shrimp (my favorite thing to get) and also the potato noodles! The restaurant is really nice and fancy. There is no ventilation above your tables though so expect to smell like hot pot after. read more

Love it. This restaurant is buried among the numerous Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Malaysian shops and restaurants in this congested collection of strip stores. I don't have intel to compare with other nearby hot pot options, but I can vouch that this one was pretty good. Service was very good on our visit. Our waitress did a nice job describing the process. I really like that as she placed our orders on an iPad device, the kitchen staff already started brining items out. I have to assume they were were reading our order in real-time. I liked the condiments and appetizer station. It was clean and organized. I would definitely eat here again! read more
