For the price, the service is really bad. One server was ok the others were really rude and dismissive. Takes forever to get your meat, and There's a time limit on eating and the meat is cut super thick, so it soaks up time. Totally not worth the money. The food here was okay, but the wait was ridiculous. Not because it was packed, but because they are understaffed. We waited over an hour with more than half the restaurant full of open tables. It was during the holidays when I visited to give the benefit of the doubt. I can't say if there was anything in particular that I absolutely loved so much that I would come back for it and make this Korean restaurant a remarkable stand out. After the owner's response to my original review, I feel compelled to clarify. (Check google reviews) The statement that we "fully finished" and "expressed enjoyment" of the A5 Wagyu is simply not accurate. The issue was never about trying to get something for free. The issue was that a very expensive item was suggested to us without the price being clearly disclosed upfront. Saying the menu lists "market price" does not replace verbally informing guests of the actual cost when recommending an item at that level. Instead of acknowledging this, the response felt defensive and dismissive. The overall experience came across as an upsell without transparency, followed by poor handling of a legitimate concern. 1 Star - Disrespectful & Misleading Experience We had a very disappointing experience at 8 Ounce KBBQ. The server recommended the A5 wagyu but never mentioned the price or that it was market price. We trusted the recommendation, and our bill ended up being $350, with $250 for the wagyu alone. We couldn't even eat half the wagyu because it was too much fat. We were genuinely confused and asked for clarification. Instead of handling it professionally, the staff became dismissive and defensive, saying that's "not what the waitress said happened." The manager (who claimed he was the owner) was rude and offered no attempt to resolve the situation. As we were leaving, he shooed us away and said "whatever, whatever, losers" in front of other guests. It wasn't about the cost -- it was about the lack of transparency and the way we were treated. Highly recommend! Meat quality was great. We had the beef Galbi and marinated pork. They have pickled jalapeños instead of cucumbers. I wish they had more options on marinated meats. Not sure if we came on an off day, but this was honestly a disappointing KBBQ experience especially having seen quite a few positive reviews. We were seated within a few minutes after arriving. The banchan was already laid out - a good spread albeit some were pretty small portions. Our waiter was quick to take our order and got right to cooking the meat for us, something we appreciated given most places have you cook yourself. Our waiter did ask if we wanted to, so you could ask to cook for yourself. They are not an AYCE spot, so we ordered their beef combo (getting galbi was our number one priority) and an order of the pork belly. They cooked the meats in what I assume is an intentional sequence of beef brisket, pork belly, galbi, and finally beef bulgogi. The two of us were quite full by the end so you easily could just order the combo for 2 people which is how many the menu says it serves anyway. A few unfortunate notes: Clearly, our waiter was flustered with how busy she was at the start, something about some waitstaff only just clocking in (surprising for peak dinner time on a Friday). We did notice that there were a lot more staff half an hour into our meal and were VERY attentive, taking turns cooking the meat. The service was very friendly overall, but the beginning of our meal was quite bumpy - we had to ask for water, having seen that the adjacent table that sat down after us already received theirs. We also had to ask for rice and our waiter said it would be another 10 minutes since they needed to make some. By the time we received our rice, we had already eaten 2 of 4 of our meats. As a rice lover, this was quite disappointing. Something seemingly small but was very noticeable was that their metal chairs were extremely uncomfortable to sit in, and typically you want to sit for an extended amount of time for KBBQ. Lastly, the meats were mostly okay which was disappointing because their galbi was my favorite ever - it was juicy and fatty and perfectly cooked, and so flavorful that no sauce was needed. The beef brisket was alright, the pork belly mediocre, and the bulgogi was a bit too crunchy from the charring without much flavor. The sauces helped but had to carry a lot of weight flavor-wise. All in all, $150 (not including tip, and my husband got a beer) was a bit pricey for this sub-par experience. read more

We came when it was packed and waited awhile to be seated. But, once we got sat, our food came out pretty quickly and the servers were fantastic given how busy they were! They did a great job. We went on a Thursday night and got seated immediately. They have a pretty extensive menu to choose from; from a la carte to their combo selection. Their side dishes were plentiful and delicious as well. I rarely ever see scallops on the menu at K-bbq places so you best bet, we had to order that and I'm so glad we did! The galbi recommended by our server was also tasty. Probably the best I've had in a long while. Speaking of service, Evan and the trainee was excellent! OK went back for the second time was solid. Our server was not the best doesn't understand the meaning of customer service if it's like that again, I would not return. Update: Emailed the owner and basicaly broke HIPPA laws by telling his waitress has anxiety and depression. It's a customer services industry he was trying to gaslight me and said never come back. I was giving him feedback not wanting anything in return. He gave nothing but excuses but I would tell you I'll never be back as if this is the buisness he does I suggest you don't. Came here for an early dinner and was seated quickly. I tried the LA Galbi and the Spicy Chicken. Here the servers cook the meat and manage the grill for you. It's a nice experience and the server was very nice, but it does feel like it breaks up the table conversation. The LA Galbi was some of the best I've had, highly recommend. The chicken on the other hand was not one I'd pick. I found the flavor a little underwhelming and not spicy. The banchan was nice, but I wish the servers would notice which get empty and ask if we'd like refills instead of having to request them. The egg souffle was a bit on the salty side, the kimchi pancake super moist and kind of limp, and the kimchi soup tasted almost like a tomato soup with a kick to it. My son has been wanting to try Korean bbq for a while now so we made the trek out to Katy to give this place a try. OMG it was...AMAZING! We ordered way too much food, ate way too much and left planning our next visit! We ordered: Combo A, soy garlic chicken, Man doo. All combos come with a plethora of side dishes. The staff was amazing and helped walk us through all the main dishes and side dishes and how to combine them. The combos are HUGE. I'm a big girl but there is so much meat that it fed all three of us and we had leftovers. The soy chicken was the only one I would pass on next time. Been wanting to try this place for a while and it did not disappoint. To start, the service was great, Hannah was very attentive and made great recommendations. She helped us cook the food and even showed us how to do a radish wrap which made the food that much better. The meats were all very good quality and the sides were really good too. We got the small beef combo for 2 and added a ribeye. loved the potato salad, the kimchi pancake, and the various pickled radishes. I visited 8 Ounce on a Monday evening. It wasn't too crowded, but there was a decent turnout for a weeknight. We were seated immediately, and parking was plentiful. The service was excellent--waiters cook at your table, refill side dishes, and frequently check in on you. Our group of three ordered the small beef combo, which included beef brisket, seasoned boneless short rib, and kalbi. We also added a small order of premium pork belly and corn cheese. The combos come with a veggie skewer, kimchi pancake, egg stew, rice, and a choice of kimchi or soybean stew. The food and meat were average for a KBBQ spot. Delicious Korean barbecue in Katy Texas. This place reminds me of quarters in Los Angeles. I love how the table was already set with side dishes to start. Our waitress was super kind and helpful in order and cook. Quality of the meats. Here are great very flavorful and great texture. The side dishes were great too along with the ones that come with the combo. My only complaint was the service as much as how kind our server was, however she did forget a couple things such as refilling water, filling the side dishes, such a salad and fish cake. I do wonder if the soup among other side dishes are included for free however I did ask for it to be refilled and it never came. Overall experience was great. The food was good and the quality of the meat was good as well. Service - They cook for you and ask you what temp you want your meat and they do an amazing work at getting it right. If you need extra sauce or anything and they will radio the kitchen to bring it out. The wait is a little confusing as they setting up the table but didn't update us on what was going on for a while. So my family and I were just standing up front. The restaurant is a good size for what they do. They have a mixture of small tables to large tables to accommodate different parties. Cheese corn was more savory than sweet. I need the amount of cheese on it might of cover up the sweetness of the corn. Kimchi soup has a nice touch of spicy which was great to me. Steamed corn was okay. Didn't have much flavor compared to other places I have tried. I did the large beef combo (beef brisket, grilled bulgogi, seasoned short rib, ribeye) and it was decent for 6 adults and 2 kids. Pros: meat is tender, has many combo options of choice so you can choose between beef vs pork, we didn't have to cook as the waiter help us cook, love their side dishes with tofu soup, cheesy corn, veggies, and comes with a cup of rice for each person without additional charges. Cons: I wish they have more dipping sauce available, come in week day and late then you won't have to wait. The staffs are newly train so you might have more than 2 waiters helping you which is a bit awkward when we eat, but then they're very nice and accommodating.
