The colorist did a good job as the salon used the same products I've used before so one couldn't tell the difference. I wasn't a fan of all the upsetting although I fell for it. What truly bothered me though, and the reason I would not return is that I was not told in advance that they had all these additional fees. I have never , ever been to salon in my many decades here on planet earth that had surprise fees. When I received the bill and politely asked what all these fees were the manager flashed me attitude and told me that I opted out of knowing about the fees. Genuinely the worst experience ever. Tiffani was 20 minutes late and Toni was left to do my hair (I can't even find her on the website????) My hair is more dry than what it was before I walked in. I booked the braiding ritual and it was a waste of money. Also I asked for a trim and Tiffani fully chopped off my hair. I will never return to this salon again, they overprice everything and they're beyond the most unprofessional people I've ever met. The service said low tension blow dry, and Toni ripped out my curls with a plastic brush. They will smile in your face while screwing you over. read more

I came back here and Jessica fixed me up, thank goodness! I like stylists who are listen to you but you know in your heart you don't need to say much because they are experienced enough to know exactly what to do with your hair based on certain criteria (how you part it, styling routine, face shape, overall lifestyle, etc.). I and my husband made an appt. a few days in advance because I was looking for a place that does precision cuts so I can get a nice wolf shag. I gave them my email and they sent me a message that they need my credit card and if I do not make it they take 50% And if your late they also take money and there is no guarantee the hairdresser will take me,I didnot send anything and I'm surprise that can do that. Anyway, my husband and I arrived on time. His hair was already washed so he just got it cut. I had mine washed cut and blown out it was alright. My husband who has low vision and the women who cut his hair asked what I thought and I said he needs it tapered In the back and she told me, " I'm not a barber." Why do mens hair, because most men do need their hair tapered when cut. To top it off the cashier charged us both the same that totalled $207. There is something wrong with this picture. read more

I have been a customer for several years while a resident in Brooklyn at the Bay Ridge salon. Services requested by me were for Cezanne and highlites. Both service results were fantastic. Both Lisa and Mindy are excellent at getting the best results for my hair. Lisa did my first Cezanne treatment with beyond my wildest imagination results!! I have been getting Cezanne treatments ever since Lisa did my first treatment. I now live outside of NY, however when I visit Bay Ridge......I go to Hair&Co for my color service. My recent visit to Hair&Co. was for color service was with Mindy. She did a fantastic job of up updating my highlites. I wish that both Lisa and Mindy lived in my State so that I could always use the very best stylist I have ever worked with.......and I have been using stylist for over 30 years. My review from 3 years ago still reigns true. Since my first visit, I've been back 3 more times. I also tried to find other salons but nothing could compare to my treatment at Hair & Co! So I'm back and I'm never leaving. Lol. I've had Martha, Jessica, and now Devon as my stylists. Each one of them were amazing... attentive to my needs and gave me exactly what I wanted. I always walked in feeling like I had the heaviest weight on my shoulder (literally my hair) and every single one of them have made me feel lighter when I walked out of the door. I love that every stylist I get is so personable and easy to talk with. I'm going back to Devon in June for some balayage. Can't wait! read more

My appointment was originally at the Myrtle Ave location, but turns out my stylist wouldn't be in today, so they called to let me know and made me an appointment at the Bergen St location. Overall, it was a very good experience! It was a little busy, so no one greeted me when I came in. However, I was seen a few minutes early and everyone I spoke with was friendly and sociable. Jessica gave me a wonderful, much needed haircut with long layers and I left feeling great. She wanted me to make another appointment, but I'm planning to move to Manhattan, and it's easier to go to someone there . Finally, I love the Yelp coupon for 20% off any first time service- the haircut was $80 and with the discount, it was actually $72 rather than $64 due to the environmental fee- from their website- "The $6 Environmental Stewardship Fee on your bill helps fund all of the green changes that reduce the carbon footprint of your visit." I think they said it covers the cost of PPE, and I'm sure other things. Plus, they don't pour chemicals down the drain, and I believe they donate cut hair to make rugs? My visit to Hair and Co was poor from start to finish. My hair was washed hastily and they didn't bother to give me a cape. I left the washbowl with a wet shirt. The stylist asked only a single question about my hair before starting. I could soon see her technique was not working and I expressed concern. She mumbled that it was fine. I am not one for confrontation and quietly sat through the rest of the service. The end result was a sloppy mess. I had to head straight home to wash and redo my hair. Despite not having any added services or time I was also charged more than expected. I just wanted to leave and did not bother disputing the charges. read more

PRO: love the people, clean facility, nice music. The wash, dry, and trim went well. They made my hair very soft and healthy. I took my hair out of faux locs so I definitely needed a salon day. CON: 3 hr appointment turned into a 5 hr appointment. Spiral rods wouldn't dry (couldn't fit the style under the large dryer head) so had two blow dryers going at the same time to help speed dry on HIGH. Took out all the rods and the curls weren't right so they blow dried so more then curled with curling iron. At that moment it was very cute and i had no time to take a final look pic because i was 2 hrs late. By the time I got out, I had to rush to get a 30 min ride and meet up with friends. The hours put into getting curls that "could last for days", it was poofy in less than an hour. By the end of the night, my hair was a lumpy cloud. I wish there were more options for coily hair to have volumn and defined curls at this salon. Curling iron curls never lasts with my hair type and this hot humid weather, that's why i requested spiral rods. Thanks for trying! read more

My first time going to this salon, no one greeted me when I walked in and I had to walk through the salon to find out who I had an appointment with. Employees were not friendly and the person who gave me a simple cut and wash was just going through the motions and felt like she had to warm up to me, ME the costumer! She also was not inquiring enough about my hair which made me uncomfortable immediately. The low energy vibe threw me off and within the first 5 minutes I knew I wouldn't come back. Not to mention MAKE SURE YOU ARE AWARE OF WHAT THEY ARE ADDING TO YOUR TAB especially when buying a product. I think Hair & Co provides a good service, but that does not justify the rather exorbitant pricing scheme I have experienced. I understand that hair coloring is costly, but Hair & Co's added fees for thick hair that requires more product are just infeasible. If you have easy to manage hair, I imagine your costs will be cheaper. But I was subjected to a $400+ bill for a haircut and gloss alone, which I find extremely unreasonable. I noticed my bill had added environmental fees along with fees for extra time, and product. I have never needed to pay for these costs elsewhere at salons that definitely are not cheap. I declined a hydration hair cut which I thought was a waste last time for extra money. Again, I understand that hair cutting and coloring is an art, but beware that you will be paying A LOT at Hair & Co, more than I think is reasonable. read more

So my hair... my hair was absolutely a WRECK. I dyed my hair at home for the first time to have some fun in the pandemic. It was fun, but reality struck with a few events around the corner that I couldn't afford to have blue hair for anymore. Namely a 3rd round job interview, client facing wine tasting, and (oh yeah?) my wedding in a month! See I tried to "fix" my hair back to its natural dark brown, only to bleach it further accidentally. Anxious to not appear like a complete meth head, I sought a professional to remedy the situation. I am pleased to say that I now have dark brown hair again and my hair doesn't look "bleached to hell" as it used to be. I nailed my interviews and my fiancée is thrilled with the outcome. I could not have expected such a great result and fully expected to have to cut my hair even shorter to get rid of the green, teal, auburn, and brown leprechaun puke that was my hair. Jessica was my stylist and took great care of me at the Bergen street location. Could not be more grateful to have normal looking hair again! It feels even better than before I dyed it to be honest. This is a long story, so I'll try my best to be brief. I came in for a bleaching appointment that went horribly wrong. I left a very honest, one star review (more below). The salon immediately responded and called me within two days to hear my concerns and book a complementary appointment to fix it. Their head colorist, Stacy Ann, looked at my hair and agreed with all of my concerns. The salon offered to not only fix the worst problem areas, but to actually upgrade me to a "platinum card" appointment and apply a strengthening treatment completely complementary. I had not expected to hear back at all after posting the review, so I was completely floored by all of this. Stacy spent a combined total of 7.5+ hours fixing my hair. She went above and beyond to listen to my concerns, give me an honest assessment, make sure I felt comfortable, and to prevent my hair from long term damage. She first did a thorough touch up job to fix the biggest problem areas, re-tone my hair, and prepare/strengthen my hair. She then spent the second appointment doing a full platinum card, doing a beautiful shadow root, toning my hair, smoothing it out, and even giving a light trim :) She is amazing and I can't thank her enough. I could not be happier with how this all turned out. Yes, it was a journey but it's clear that the first experience was just a fluke. It was one bad (former) stylist who had a really bad day and in no way represents the salon. I can't thank them enough for how kind, professional and generous they were in fixing this situation. I fully recommend Stacy Ann and any of their other stylists to someone looking for a great new salon. _________________________________________ The first appointment: I wanted to go from a medium brown to a light, sandy blonde and booked an appointment with a junior level stylist. However, I know that's hard to do in one appointment so I told the colorist I was flexible and open to her suggestions. The consultation was very rude and unprofessional. I came out of that conversation feeling horrible, embarrassed, and uncomfortable. Due to the deposit I had already paid, I decided to move forward with a balayage as I thought it would cause the least damage to my hair. The appointment itself was very awkward. I was there for 4 hours and the colorist maybe said 4 sentences to me. The final result looked nothing like the examples she showed me, had bleed marks everywhere, uneven roots, banding all the way around, and huge areas that were missed in the back. She never showed me the back or mentioned any of these issues. Because of how uncomfortable the appointment had been, I just wanted to leave as quickly as possible. read more
