This review is for Robert Martin, the only person I will let cut my hair. My mom and I have been going to Robert for years and followed him here from another salon in Mira Mesa. He listens to what you want and doesn't do his interpretation of what you want, which a lot of hairstylists are apt to do. He is great with colors and cuts and is very reasonably priced ($55 for haircuts, about $40-70 for color AND highlights, depending on how many you get). While there are many talented stylists, what sets Robert apart is his sweet, gentle and kind personality. He gives us free products for birthdays and holidays, fixes our hairstyling appliances (blow dryers, flat irons, etc.) when they break, and gave me several free haircuts while I was in college to help me out as a struggling student. Basically, he is both extremely talented and a good person. Bottom Line: I've referred many people to Robert and everyone's been extremely satisfied with his work. Oh yeah, and even though I live in LA now, I still drive down to San Diego every 2-3 months just to get my haircut with Robert! He's that good, I promise :-) read more

I have had bad experiences with another salon so I was a little hesitant, but after I saw the end results of my hair this time around, I loved it. I have incredibly thick, wavy Asian hair that's always temperamental, and she somehow manages to tame it like no one else can. Kim can also do dry cuts (which is what I prefer for my own hair), so that's an added bonus. I first made an appointment for my daughter with Krystal as Salon Europa off a referral from a friend who goes to her. My kid has a ton of thick, almost wavy hair and likes to grow it out to donate it. It gets out of control as it gets longer so we went to Krystal to get it tamed. She gave her a really cute cut that works with her age, her hair type and her desire to let her hair get long enough to donate. I liked it so much that I made an appointment a couple of months later. She asked how much time I spend styling (um, none, I'm a wash and wear) and lifestyle (like a lot of pulling it back for exercise). She gave me a cut that I love and it works for me. I found my new stylist. The salon is in a little strip mall right off the freeway so it's easy to get in and out, they are in two shops so it's pleasant and fairly quiet in each place and doesn't feel crowded at all. read more

Thanks to Yelp and the GREAT reviews, I decided to visit Ernie at Salon Europa. I just moved here from CT and was looking for a reasonably priced, quality service. LOOK NO FURTHER this is the place you need to be. The rates differ between stylists, however they are all generally very affordable and WELL worth your time and money. you are treated like a true client with respect and consideration. having just moved here i have never been asked so many questions about my hair, how i style, and what i would like done with it. i was so impressed at the care and consideration Ernie took in my visit. so now here's the even more amazing part, Ernie actually worked with me for almost 5 hours. i was his last appointment, full head foil with very very long hair, and he stayed and chatted and styled and cut and dyed with him smiling the whole time! i really enjoyed getting to know him and am antsy for the 6 weeks to go by so i can go get my hair done again! this time i wont drag him into the later pm hours of the night, but he really whipped my hair into shape! you will NOT regret going here! if i could give 10/5 stars i would! read more

I'm pretty picky about my haircuts. My hair is thick, long and wavy. If you don't layer it just right, it looks messy and uneven because of the waves. You have to really know how to blend layers. And if you try to thin out my hair, because I have a lot of it, you have to know how to do it well or it will look fly-away or just very choppy. And on top of that, I want a haircut that works with my waves, not one I have to slick down in order for it to look good. And I want an pretty, feminine look as well. So you can see how unless the hairdresser is very skilled and listening, I'm a tough customer to please. Nancy Eklund of Salon Europa South passes the test. She's sweet, listens and cuts well. I've tried other highly rated hairdressers and I usually get two out of three so I was/am thrilled to have found Nancy. I went to this salon for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Lisa was my stylist. I had highlights put in my hair. I have not had highlights for 2 years. I used to get highlights all the time and she is by far the fastest stylist I have ever had do my highlights. I am usually at the salon for a couple of hours, but I was in and out of there and they looked great. I have had so many compliments on my color and cut. I called in to make an appointment and I was redirected to LaShawn. Let me just say that the moment I spoke with her I knew I would like her a lot! My assumptions were correct when I walked in, she was very friendly and welcoming. She made me feel very comfortable and she also made me laugh. She is very good with conversation so I suggest to be ready to share some stories with her! As for my hair, well, I absolutely love it! She did such a great job and I'm so happy that I was able to have her cut my hair. LaShawn explained all of the products that she used on my hair and gave me suggestions for products that would help me, because I had told her I had an issue with my hair being dry and hard to grow. Lasjan Smith is the best hairstylist I have found in San Diego. I moved here over 18years ago and went to different stylist who were good but Lasjan is the "whole package". She is professional, and excellent at her profession including styling, cutting, and coloring hair just to name a few. She is very personable and does an excellent job.
