She's a lovely person and gave me a great cut, both using her judgement and tweaking where I asked (a smidge off the bangs). A couple people in my life commented that, whilst they liked the previous version of my style - a shag - this was even better. The parking situation is way better than my previous place: That salon has its own, tiny lot. Hair Effex doesn't have a private lot, but the nearby municipal lot is more than likely to have a spot, and it's free. If street parking is more your thing, you might be able to snag something.

I have been looking for a new hairstylist however have been put off by only being able to see people's schedules via DM so I really appreciated the ease of the online booking option. I also was able to have a choice to select someone or select the option of any stylist - which I opted to. The salon is super clean, modern and has a white and gold vibe which I loved. There was free parking in the back and in the front with an entrance to both. I was paired with Alicia. I got a wash, cut and blowout. I just told her I wanted to cut a few inches off, add some shape and have it not feel so heavy. She did a wonderful job and was efficient as well. Making the appointment was easy - I texted with Sara to schedule but you can also schedule online. When I showed up for my appointment I was told Sara's car had broken down therefore she was running very late. Instead of turning me away and telling me to reschedule completely, Odete swept into action and did my roots. We had a tough time finding a color match (since my previous color was done at a different salon) but she went above and beyond to perfectly match and she did! Sara ended up making it into work right before my rinse therefore we decided to reschedule the bayalage. I came back the following week and everyone remembered me by name (even Oksana the nail lady)! Sara meticulously did my bayalage and made sure I was comfortable as I sat for 3 hours to get the perfect highlights put into my hair. Everything turned out perfectly and the blowout was great, as well. I cannot wait to come back here for touch-ups and color going forward.

I am glad to find someone who knows how to properly cut hair as the two wonderful people I'd had in the past, retired. The shop is in the middle of town next to a Greek restaurant in Merrick on Merrick Avenue. They have a small selection of jewlery, honey and brickerbrack for sale in the front.
