Heather did a wonderful job for my cut and highlights! I'm super picky about my hair and she did such a great job listening to my requests and achieving the goals I was looking for. After leaving a 25% tip my total was $230 for those wondering about pricing. The only complaint I'd have is it echos a lot in there and can get loud and Heather was double booked but did great at time managing. I thought I had a nice experience until my hair color started to fade under 3 weeks with minimum, hair washing during this period! I explained to the stylist Allyssa, how unhappy this made me and if we can discuss options to have my hair touched up as the summer just began & wanted that fresh look to last as this was only under a month!!!! The place is very noisy with stylist speaking with each other constantly It became intrusive while I was having my hair done and I asked her to stop yelling. she walked over to the owner and made a comment. This morning I received an email saying due to my conflict I am no longer welcome. Unprofessional to say the least. With so many salons to choose from I cannot recommend this place. Erin that is not true. In fact, I was the one who felt disrespected and words you claim I said are absolutely false. That May be what the stylist told you. I have no reason to lie. The most disturbing part is the subject of the loud conversation. Bad mouthing a client, calling her crazy and suggesting the police should be called is unprofessional and leads one to believe other clients are being discussed openly within earshot of other clients. I've been to a couple different stylists here and they are all so good! I started with Erin, the owner, and got beautiful balayage and haircuts. Hair Canvas is a very popular salon in town. The aesthetics of the space is lovely. But not all the stylists here are truly that talented. A few times I was there, I have a heard a stylist (Nora) talk about how they are very worthy of the cost of the clients' spend, led by Nora. In addition, there's a lot of negative speak about other stylists. This loud trash talking of other stylists is very unprofessional and leaves such a bad taste in a client's mouth. She also turned my blonde hair almost orange, cut almost 4 inches off my hair into a bob when I asked for a 2 inch trim. - even after showing her actual photos of what I'm trying to achieve. I have heard from others in a FB mom group that this is not a unique experience from this stylist for brunettes either. This is a small provincial town so I wasn't allowed to specific names on FB, but I think if you're considering this salon, make sure you have a consultation and keep an eye on your stylist as she snips away. She is also charging a premium for a perceived premium service. I'm sure there are much more talented stylists in this town. read more

Erin is great! I saw Erin for the first time a couple years ago when she was working at a different salon. At that time I'd been getting my hair bleached light blonde about every six weeks for a year. My natural hair color is light brown/dirty blonde and I was unhappy with the dramatic contrast between my roots growing in and my dyed color, so I decided to try balayage for a more natural look. Erin understood what I wanted and exactly what to do so I would still look blonde but would have my roots blend in more naturally with the rest of my hair. My hair feels healthier and looks more natural, and I only have to go to the salon every few months rather than every six weeks. I've gone back to Erin several times and have always been happy with the results. I moved out of state and have gone to several other salons, but haven't been happy with how the color looks once my hair grows out. So I'll definitely be going back to Erin next time I'm back in CT! I would feel comfortable in any of their chairs and have no doubt that they can achieve any desired look. Terrible experience with Andrea. She consistently double books and on one more than occasion she has over processed my hair to a brassy terrible blonde color. The highlighted color was not at all what I asked for and when she was asked to fix it she said she did what she usually does and to live with it for awhile. It was not at all what I usually have as people I work with said they didn't even recognize me from the back I was so blonde. She charged me $150 for a partial balayage and that didn't even include a hair cut, and she over processed my hair and didn't give me at all what I asked for. What other place/profession can charge you that much money and not give you what you asked for and not rectify it or give you your money back? NONE! Extremely poor customer service. When you go to a salon, you expect to feel pampered and come out looking beautiful, especially for that amount of money. You get the opposite feeling with Andrea and she regularly double books. She's raising her prices as well because she feels she deserves a raise...I disagree. read more

I saw Erin for the first time last year before Hair Canvas opened. I had never dyed my hair before and wanted to keep it pretty natural looking. She did an amazing job giving me the touch of blonde color with a balayage. I went back to see her a few months later to get more blonde and again she knew exactly what to do to give me the hair I wanted. I went to Hair Canvas for the first time this month and was again very pleased with Erin's work. This time, I wanted to get even more color and she used teasy lights/baby lights and I have never been more happy with my hair!
