I got my highlights yesterday. I went with a wheat blonde. I think it blends well with my gray hair and skin tone. I wanted subtle, and I got that. I do like it, but here's the thing... I generally hate getting my hair cut and colored for various reasons. Last night was a prime example of why I dread salon appointments. Before anyone attacks me on them providing a service, I get that. And I understand the time spent and the products used. But I went with one of the cheapest options in my area, was quoted a price online, which I already thought was unreasonable for what I was having done, and then I am charged nearly double the quote! Let me explain better... I got on their website, and chose a "Master stylist" (Marin) and chose my service as "full head foil highlights" with this level of stylist. I was quoted $137, which I already thought was pretty expensive just for highlights, but I never get my hair done, so I decided to go for it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The stylist was down to earth, friendly, and professional. We went over what colors would look right on me, and she did the highlights.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She tried to talk me into a haircut, at which point I declined. Nothing was done that I would consider outside of the service I requested (I got highlights, she washed the highlights out, blow dried my hair, and I was done). She charged me $237 for highlights! Just highlights. No all over color, no styling, no curling iron or flat iron. I also gave her a $20 tip, so it was almost $260. I never asked for any of the extras that she charged me for. And my hair was not flat ironed, or curled, and she charged me extra for that. THAT is theft! read more

I had a very disappointing experience at Hair Cuttery in Fredericksburg. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was only 10 minutes late to my appointment, and Tracy canceled on me without any flexibility or consideration.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She stated she "didn't have time" to do a wrap/set, which I find completely unacceptable--especially for such a minimal delay. Life happens, and a 10-minute grace period is not unreasonable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Instead of attempting to accommodate or offer a solution, I was turned away as if my time didn't matter at all.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Customer service and professionalism were clearly lacking. I understand schedules can be tight, but [[HIGHLIGHT]]the lack of courtesy, communication, and willingness to work with a paying customer was extremely disappointing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will not be returning. read more

I loved the outcome. Brandi even took the time to walk me through the steps of daily maintenance so I can keep my hair looking just as cute as it did leaving the salon. I had such a wonderful experience at this hair Cuttery location!! Kierra did my haircut and she did an absolutely fabulous job! She did exactly what I asked for, and was super quick and efficient but also very friendly and kind! I will definitely be back. I then got my hair colored a few days later with Michaela and again she did a fantastic job! I had a prior issue with this salon and I talked with someone about it from the company and they just asked me about the issue and never replied back. I decide to give it another chance and came back and the same thing. They cut my hair wrong, it just a simple straight freaking line, is not that difficult. The girl that did my hair told me she studied in high school... like wtf. You are letting high school girls touch peoples hair. What are the requirements for this job? Like seriously? I got about a foot of hair cut off a month ago, and I really hate the results. I told the stylist that I'd like some layers, and she proceeded to give me layers that started at my EARS. It's uneven all around. I told the the person who helped me that I wasn't a fan of the style, and she said that there was nothing she could do about it. The woman, Robin, who did my hair really messed it up. She was so in a hurry to start and finished in 15 minutes, didn't even ask if I wanted a shampoo or not. She hardly communicated cause it was just a haircut straight-even cut I wanted, so when she was through she went straight to the front desk and sat there. I didn't even know she was finished until I looked at her and she hinted that she was done. She didn't even show me the back of my hair in a mirror as if she was avoiding that part. it wasn't after a few days when I had to go to a furniture store in Woodbridge and I put my clean hair in front of me and looked in the mirror where I noticed the right side was 1 inch shorter than the left side. Everyone in the house noticed it when I pointed the flaw. I was furious and called the Salon and spoke with the manager. She was helpful and I made another appointment with her, which was almost a week later. she didn't charge me because she knew I was mad of the way I was treated by her staff. I could have asked for my money back and the tip I gave the other hairdresser, but the manager was nice and apologetic. I wished I could give it a good rating for the manager, but I had no plans to go back and this rating is for the one who maliciously botched up my hair which brought more unpleasant experiences to me after that, because of what she did. I will not even give her a star at all because of all the problems she caused that I have to repair.! read more

Absolutely do NOT recommend this place. The website says appointment only but this location takes walk ins as well. I show up to get my daughter's hair cut. Sign in. I was told a few mins of a wait. 45 mins later the guy beside me gets up and leaves. Guess he was tired of waiting. Several ppl were there working. One of the ladies sat down and started reading a book after she got done with a customer. I guess she was done working for the day. If I did that at my job I would be fired. I have followed a hair stylist, Jewel, to this salon because I love the way she cuts and styles my hair. I have been to expensive salons and cheap salons searching for a hair stylist that can actually cut my hair. My hair is short and not difficult to cut so when I went to the last salon which was very expensive, and the stylist did a terrible job, I had to go to a salon to have it fixed. I ended up going to a quick salon that my husband usually goes to in Stafford, VA. I ended up with a stylist named Jewel. She was appalled at the terrible job the previous hair stylist did especially since it was a high end salon. My hair was so short on the left side that I couldn't get a small round brush around it and the right was twice as long. That's when I first realized there was a problem. I had asked for my hair to be cut the same all over. Even where my hair was short in the back, Jewel showed me there was a random long piece of hair that was down to my shoulders! Anyways, Jewel fixed the terrible haircut as best she could. It was way better!! She said it would take a few cuts to get it back to the way it should have been cut. Then, she moved to the Hair Cuttery salon in Fredericksburg. I just went to her again this past weekend. I had her add some partial highlights and it looked fantastic!! Walked in on a Friday afternoon around 4pm, place was totally packed, but I was immediately greeted with a friendly smile and asked what I came in for. Can't remember her name, but she said it was going to be a few minutes before I could get into a chair. I literally sat for less than two minutes and was in a stylist chair. Her name was Victoria. I was there for 4 hours and my daughter is very upset with her hair. I will not be going back and want others to know how bad the service was.
