I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at Hair Cuttery today. I haven't been to Hair Cuttery in years, and unfortunately, this experience reminded me why I stopped going. I called around 10:00 AM to ask if there were any appointments available today and what their latest appointment time was. The employee who answered told me they had a 7:30 PM appointment available, so I booked it. Around 10:30 AM, I received a text reminder saying my appointment was for 6:30 PM. Since that was NOT the time I scheduled, I called the store back within 30 minutes. The employee who answered confirmed that the system showed me scheduled for 6:30 PM. I explained that I had originally booked 7:30 PM, and she said, "Oh, but I see that you're scheduled at 6:30, but I can move your time to 7:30 if you want." I told her yes, because that was the time I had originally requested. She then CONFIRMED that she was moving my appointment to 7:30 PM. I should have known something was wrong when I received another text at 6:03 PM about an appointment supposedly scheduled for 6:30 PM, but I assumed their automated system was delayed because I had already spoken with an employee and had my appointment time confirmed as 7:30 PM. I arrived at the store at 7:20 PM for my 7:30 appointment, only to be told that my appointment was actually at 6:30 PM and that the stylist I was supposedly scheduled with already had another client at 7:30 and could not see me. I explained everything that had happened that morning, including that I had called twice and specifically had the appointment time corrected. What makes this even more frustrating is that when I walked in, there were employees sitting around with no clients, chatting, and one employee even had time to wash her own hair. Yet I was told there was nothing they could do and that I could not be seen that day. I drove 30 minutes to this location based on the appointment time that THEIR employee confirmed for me. I understand that mistakes happen, but this was not just a simple scheduling mistake. I called back, brought the incorrect time to their attention, and was specifically told that my appointment was being moved to 7:30 PM. The correction simply was not properly handled. Very unprofessional and extremely unorganized. I wasted my time, gas, and entire evening because of an error that could have easily been avoided. If you make an appointment here, I strongly recommend confirming the exact time before you leave and, if possible, getting written/text confirmation of the appointment time. Thank God for Srey at Hair Cuttery in Olney!! I took my 16yo son to the barber for a modern mullet cut and we left with a shagged uneven bowl cut with bunt bangs! It was hideous! My son was mortified! To make it worse, the first day of his junior year of high school is tomorrow. I called Hair Cuttery at 6pm desperate for help. Srey came to our rescue in the final hour.. she was able to squeeze us in on such a busy day and do her magic! Thank god for her! She gave him a cut that he was confident in. AMAZING hair Cuttery location! Srey is my only go-to person. Srey does an great job cutting my hair. I'm a picky picky person as to who cuts my hair, especially since I have very thick, coarse, curly hair so I generally don't trust many people. Unlike the multiple other locations I've visited, Srey is experienced with my type of hair which is why I only go to her. Note: I am also the type of person to have many piercings. When I used to go to a different person, they would also accidentally hit my piercing with the clippers, extending my healing time. Srey takes GOOD care of my piercings and for me, that is another good reason as to why I stayed with her. read more

He has taken my rough imaginings of a new style and translated these into the most flattering and most meticulously executed haircut I shall ever experience. At the end of my appointment, I did not like the way she was questioning me about the $5.00 I received as a gift, she was drilling me about who gave it to me and I needed to bring a hard copy of the gift. She also while she was washing or about to wash my hair she told me the cost of the hair appointment as if I did not have the means to pay, needles to say, I was in shock. She also at the beginning of the appointment made me wait for a good 10 or 15 minutes while she was doing something at the front desk. If I was not walking to the front desk side, she will never notice me and she will make wait, for sure. Despite all her imprudence, disrespectful and lack of professionalism, I gave her a good tip. I'm like, no way my treat what's the matter. I could see was upset. She's from out of the country, and said she did want to upset the hairstylist I always go to. THEY DONT DO BLACK PEOPLES HAIR! Me, my mom, and my sister all went there today--mind you were black-- and this was the first time me and my sister ever experienced 3D racism. We showed up for our appointment 4 mins late but then they told us to sit down and wait and then the First Lady started on my moms hair. She couldn't do my moms hair because she said my mom needed to perm her hair (because my moms ends are permed but not her roots, so it's two different textures. There were two other black people though and they did their hair, but their hair is more fine because they were East African. VERY unprofessional to the people that were waiting. DO NOT SEE SUN. She is a master stylist who has been there for 20 years so I was excited to work with her but it was THE WORST hair experience I've ever had and thanks to her, I will continue to be reminded of it for the next year while my hair grows back. I booked the longest time color package because I didn't know what I wanted but I had pictures and knew we would need time. Apparently that was a reason to yell at me, sighing and saying that the 180 minutes I booked wasn't long enough..She quoted me $300 and I am SO GLAD I asked to do less because what a COMPLETE WASTE of money. This woman yelled at me about every single preference I had. She also emphasized that I was late because I got there 6 minutes past time so in return she saw 4 OTHER CLIENTS during my service. She quite literally asked me to stand up half way through my blow out and get out of the chair so she could cut 3 men's hair before finishing my blow dry......she also did not know how to use the curling brush to make curls while blow drying hair?? This is a basic technique! When all was said and done, 4 hours later...she left the bleach on my hair too long and completely ruined half of my head. Did not blend a single thing. Then gave me a chunk of money bangs and chopped the hair straight across. Said she was giving me layers, never did that. Said face framing wasn't a thing??? After working with the stylists who helped to fix her work I realized she was a complete fraud trying to make as much money as possible. So now.. I've paid over $500 to fix this and my hair is absolutely destroyed. 10 olaplaex treatments and all the deep conditioner in the world has yet to fix my fried ends. For what she charges just see someone who knows what they're doing. I'm scared to ever go back to them or anyone I don't know ever again.. One thing positive I will say however is that Lorraine was amazing and helped to fix this the first time around at no cost. She deserves all the praise because I literally wouldn't leave my house if it wasn't for her. Super talented and caring stylist!! read more

The Hair Cuttery in Olney is a bright cheery place. My haircutter was upbeat and very good. She did say several times that I really should get my hair colored with highlights ( I have gray hair and had no intention of getting highlights) and she talked about how this would be so flattering. I politely declined but she kept it up so I said " ok well maybe next time ". Then when I checking out and paying, she gave me a bag with Redken shampoo, etc. Which I didn't really want, but I reluctantly paid for the cut/blowdry/style, which looked very good. But the bill came to almost $150. So later I came back and returned the shampoo and conditioner and the cashier said it would be refunded in 7-10 days. That was over a month ago and no sign of a refund. I'm not going back because I can't find the receipt. Very annoying to me. I had this"upselling" thing where they try to max out the purchase.
