This review is for GLOW BEAUTY WAXING, located inside of Hair Day (I did not get a hair service). I had the most amazing, thorough waxing experience! I usually go somewhere else, but my regular technician was unavailable, so I opted to try something new with low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised! Connie was AMAZING! She was very thorough and administered the hard wax in a way that wasn't painful. She was mindful of letting the wax cool down completely before removing, and she checked in regularly to ensure that I was comfortable and that the wax wasn't too hot for me. She also was thoughtful enough to give me a little care package with oils to keep ingrowns from coming in. She was just all around AMAZING and I would definitely return! Also, she pretty much got every single hair! The only downside is time. She DOES take the full hour. I am used to being done in less than 10, however I don't mind her moving slowly and carefully because it wasn't painful, and again, she was more thorough than I'm used to. If you like a quicker service and larger areas waxed at once, this isn't your girl. But if you don't mind the time, she's the best! read more

I was recommended this spot by a friend and finally came to check it out! This is a gem - I recommend it for your next hair appointment! From the beginning, the customer service experience was pleasant. Jenny responded right away to my request via Yelp. Space: It is located on the second floor of a small strip mall plaza. The plaza itself has free parking, don't let the valet stand throw you off as Hair Day will validate. There is an elevator and stair to reach the second floor. Inside, they have about 6 seats for styling, 2 seats for washing and a waiting table in the center. Clients Journey: Upon check in, you pick a salon apron from the closet. There is a small private styling room as well. Jin and Jenny tag teamed to accommodate my delay and I was so grateful, having come from the other side of town. They were very kind and the cut and styling quality was not sacrificed. There were 3 males who came in after so it seems to be a hot spot for men's hair styling as well. So I've only had Jenny touch my hair for years before I moved back to NYC in 2021 during the pandemic. Since moving back to NYC, I have not found a hairstylist as amazing as Jenny. I'm still struggling to find one who can do the exact color, style that Jenny has carefully done with my hair (and has kept it in amazing condition for years!) Time & Date: Saturday, 6/5/21 @ 2:30pm Appointment: made a month in advance Hair job: Balayage + cut Duration: 2:30 - 7pm My hair before: grown out balayage, mostly black hair with brown ends I first inquired about a quote for a balayage + cut through Yelp, and Jenny is the one I spoke with. She gave me a reasonable quote and confirmed that she could do the job in the photo I sent her. I had to reschedule my appointment and she happily did so. Jenny is super sweet & friendly! Jenny is extremely meticulous and patient with her work. She took her time to bleach my hair with the foilyage method. When toning, she used 3 different shades so that the colors would blend seamlessly. The other stylist, Bin also worked on my hair throughout-the process and she is also very skilled at her craft! She worked really fast and confidently, and she was especially good at styling my hair at the end. She took her time to perfect my curls and add volume to my hair. Bin is also the one who took this beautiful photo attached! I especially appreciated how much Jenny cares about your comfort. From putting a towel around my face at the hair wash station to keep my face dry, to putting ear covers to block the dye from irritating my ear. Jenny also gifted me a free hair oil because my ends were a little damaged. Make an appointment because it gets busy, otherwise they might not have time to squeeze you in! Owner Jenny always charges extra, the price she tells the customers are not the actual amount, always charges extra at the end of the service. I didn't get any hair cut, the service I got was coloring about 1.5 years ago, but in the comment she says what I paid was everything including haircut, that's why it ended up $450, (originally she told me it's gonna be $350). I am not arguing how much she charges, and but only letting the customers know that she always adds up extra charge after the service. read more

Atmosphere is good, Korean-speaking staff with professional training, and I was very satisfied with my haircut after simply showing them a picture after my first visit. Service: I went in to get a scalp treatment. They charged $90 for almost an hour service, I have shoulder length hair, very good pricing. The treatment had many different steps, I forget the order, but it was something along the lines of: wet hair, scalp ointment, massage, shampoo, steam, conditioner, steam, toner, dry. I feel that the wash and scrub portions were rushed, the woman didn't really focus on the bottom portion of my scalp. I felt there were some scalp sections that weren't thoroughly cleaned through. It all felt a bit rushed, and since they also were working on my friend at the same time, we didn't get the same timing for the steaming and other parts. When everything was done, the woman, which I agreed with, didn't use a blower dryer to dry my hair, because my scalp is super dry, so instead preferred that it air dry. But she didn't offer to at least put some product on the tips since I have wavy frizzier hair. When I saw that they fully dried my friends hair and even kind of styled it with a curling iron, I had to ask if she can put some leave in conditioner on my hair. It's almost as if she got an extra service and we both paid the same price. If I do go back, I would ask them to thoroughly clean all of my scalp and to at least style with leave in conditioner. But in all, I walked away with a way cleaner and healthier scalp. Interior/Exterior: Clean, minimal and spacious. Location & parking: The salon is located within a corner shopping center with other businesses. Parking spaces are quite tight, but I had no problem finding one upon entering the lot. Vibes: Kind staff, to the point, semi-relaxing. Experience: I originally wanted to go to a salon that provided feedback and a look via camera into the scalp and follicles, but the two popular ones were booked out up until September. So my friend and I decided to stay within the K-Town quarters, since there are so many salons. Booking an appointment was easy and simple, I asked for their availability, price, and what it entails. We got booked that same week I called. We arrived a couple minutes before our appointment, and they went straight to business. Put our belongings away, handed us a robe, and sat us down. Everything was efficient, not quite a homey feel, but definitely a good alternative to the more expensive salons. read more

The ladies here are extremely rude and double/triple book appointments, leaving you waiting for an hour just to get started on your hair. Update: Yes I was 10 minutes late to my appointment (not 15), but it didn't matter whether i was 10-15 minutes late because you were still finishing up with your previous client, regardless. You then took a male client to wash and cut his hair despite the fact that I had an appointment at the time which would mean that I would need to wait an additional 30-45 minutes before even beginning on my hair. I had a 2 hour window to get my hair done and one of those hours would have been spent on waiting. Despite all that, I simply asked a question to you (kindly) whether I would need to wait for the other customer so I can gage the timing and you yelled at me that I was 15 minutes late which was extremely rude, hostile, and completely unnecessary. The point is, you double booked and either myself or the male customer would have had to wait at least 45 minutes for our service which is a complete waste of time. read more

Just got the loose curls perm for the third time and it was done perfectly. I showed the reference photo and the result was spot-on. Last time I had it done the perm lasted very long. I also recommended the shop to my friend and little brother and they had great experiences as well. The shop itself is very comfortable and relaxing and the workers do a great job at making you feel welcomed. She has worked with idols before for their hair for performances and so knew exactly what the trends are in Korean fashion and styling. She knows exactly how to work with asian hair. The prices here are very good too, I paid $60!! she walks you through the whole process and costs; another customer came in to ask about the process of dying ash brown. The studio is beautiful and clean. Reservation only, wear mask, your bag gets put in a safe cubby, and there is a cute changing room to put on your own hairdresser robe to keep your clothes clean. I don't think I've ever had a worse experience with my haircut. She spent double the time styling my hair than actually cutting it, which is always a red flag because hair stylists blow dry your hair to hide their mistakes. All of my hair is of uneven length now -- I wish I could get a refund lol :( She also did not brush off the hairs off my face so I left the salon with a forehead full of tiny hairs.
