The back was visibly uneven, the shape was inconsistent from one side to the other, and once I got home and was able to really look at it, I could see how poorly the cut had been executed. I paid $120 plus tip, so I expected a professional haircut and a much better result. I contacted my stylist, Michael, afterward and asked for a refund because I did not feel comfortable having him cut it again. I did not receive a response to my refund request. I'm attaching photos because they show the haircut better than I can describe it. I'm very disappointed both with the service and with how my concern was handled afterward.

I've been burned before. Somewhere along the way, I've been programmed to think scarcity of availability for salons means they're better quality, since the appointments are seemingly more in demand. Thankfully, my nerves were quickly quelled. Emily was so kind, personable, and NORMAL. She didn't make me feel uncomfortable, the salon was welcoming and the color service? Phenomenal. There's a moment during a foil color treatment where you have no idea what you're going to look like in 10 minutes. Not a clue. It's a kind of stress and anxiety that's hard to explain unless you've already personally experienced the bowl rinse out after a color treatment. Wondering, have I just made a terrible mistake? This is my new spot. The foil came off, the rinse completed, and after the blow dry I looked in the mirror and couldn't believe it. I looked..like...myself! The self I remembered from before kids! I understand balayage is meant to grow out naturally, but this looked like it had been done months ago when it had only been a week. Even my family commented that it looked grown out. It's clear that she was disorganized and had not planned her schedule well and was taking that urgency out on her clients. She alleviated my worries in making the transition, and hasn't been overly pushy on pricey highlights. She did them in a way that I wouldn't need touch-ups/to get them done regularly, in fact. She also told me what toner/developer to buy from Sally's to tone my hair between appointments, which I really appreciate. I can't believe how much I love my (mostly natural) hair now! She also told me based on what I told her, the cost of my treatment would be from $375-$475. Not only did my treatment cost $550 (plus of course a tip), my treatment didn't even last three months! I understand how long it lasts depends on how often I wash my hair, but I only wash my hair 1-2 times a week. I'm very disappointed that I threw money in the trash. Also, she claimed that it doesn't smell and it smelled awful for the first month minimum every time I washed and blow dried my hair.

Meg O'Hare Beauty was incredible to work with from start to finish! Meg took the time to call me and go over their process, pricing, and all the options, which made everything so easy and clear. My makeup artist was Jenn, and she was amazing. She has such extensive knowledge of makeup and skincare, which made me feel completely at ease. After my trial, I realized the look I initially wanted wasn't quite right for me. Jenn listened carefully to my concerns, and on the wedding day, she absolutely nailed it--it was exactly what I had envisioned! I felt beautiful, and my makeup lasted perfectly all day and night. Jenn also did most of my bridesmaids' and my mom's makeup, and they all looked stunning. Amanda did my hair, and she's also incredible at what she does. After the trial, we switched to a different style for the big day, and Amanda executed it flawlessly. She styled my bridesmaids' and my mom's hair beautifully as well. My mom was unsure of what style she wanted, and Amanda was so patient and creative. She worked with her, had her try a style for a bit, and then adjusted it to perfection during the final touch-ups. I can't express enough gratitude to Megan and Lindsey for the absolutely stunning hair and makeup they created for my wedding! From the very beginning at the trial, Megan took the time to understand everything I wanted and carefully walked me through each step of the process. On the actual wedding day, everything was simply magical! My bridal party included three bridesmaids who had both hair and makeup done, plus makeup for the mother of the groom. I wanted everyone to look their best while staying cohesive in style, and Megan absolutely delivered! She made each of us look absolutely gorgeous, and Lindsey was equally incredible, listening to every detail the girls mentioned and turning their ideas into works of art. We had such a great time getting ready, with music playing and even Megan's adorable Pomeranian puppy joining in (after she kindly checked with me first - which I was thrilled about!). At some point, I was worried that she wasn't planning on showing up the day of my elopement. 2. The week before I got my hair and makeup done, I was told that I would be working with a different artist. Though the other artist turned out great, I'm a little disappointed that this wasn't communicated upfront. My impression was that Julie would be working with me and not outsourced to someone else. In addition, while the other artist was great, she didn't have all the information that I shared with Julie (eg. That I'm having a civil ceremony, that the location is a home not a hotel, when I needed to be done by) and I had to re-communicate the information to the artist. I'm so glad I communicated proactively to the artist; otherwise I might not have been ready in time to my civil ceremony!

It was really important that I find one person who could do it all--hair, makeup for Indian skin, and "proper" dressing/pinning, as you never know what you'll get with a random "aunty" from your family. I did a trial with her for my engagement session, loved the work, and my professional photos came out great! I did something very simple and natural, and I didn't have any idea of what I wanted, so I told her to do whatever she thought would look nice on me. I was really impressed with her knowledge and technique. She has an amazing make-up spread as well! There is definitely a certain style I was looking for in my wedding look. I wanted to look like an Indian bride, but a lot of the Indian makeup artists out there are very heavy on the color and are into the "matchy-matchy" eyeshadows. I wanted to look more fresh and modern and wanted my make-up to complement my clothes, not compete with. I didn't even have to explain, because as soon as I started talking she finished my sentence. She knew exactly what I wanted from the get-go, and this is what I think sets her apart. Some of the other elite artists/companies out there, who I thought also suited my style (I ended up booking one of them because Ami wasn't available for one of my events) were really overpriced and/or had terrible customer service due to their no shortage of clientele. Like some of the other reviewers mention, Ami is very quick in responding to email/following up with you, being up front about costs, etc. She listens to you, and really makes every effort to accommodate her client's needs. Her price is competitive with other services out there, but you get exactly what you pay for--quality work and quality service. She had the added task of trying to conceal my puffy crying eyes on the day of (as I had some drama earlier in the day), but she did a great job and helped me ice my under eyes while she was setting my hair. Additionally, my community has a unique dupatta pinning style and with some pictures and the guidance of one of my friends, she was able to get it right on the first try. She also has some cool tricks to make the dupatta stay on your head! I highly recommend Makeup By Ami and follow her make-up blog as well! She really knows her stuff--you can tell from her own flawless style and make-up job! You won't be disappointed at all! Take it from me--a picky, perfectionist bride.
