I was looking for somebody to do my haircut in the area and I'm glad I decided to come to this establishment. The person who did my haircut was Stevie, who is warm and kind and very helpful when it comes to hair. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my hair so I asked her for some suggestions and I ended up loving my haircut. She didn't said if I would like a free washing air dry which, of course I chose. Had an appointment with Stevi D, came in and was introduced to her and she passed me on to her assistant who did all the steps of my hair. Now I only got a wash, deep condition, hot oil treatment and blow dry so I wasn't upset that she didn't lay a finger on my head. Most assistants can do those things in their sleep. Her assistant (Ayana ? I know that's not the correct spelling) was FUN!! I loved her. Her oil treatment was the best I've had anywhere. She literally did my hair in the most tiniest sections and scrubbed my scalp with the oil to make sure it was clean. Now I was rushing her the whole time because I had a doctors appointment in Pasadena right after that I couldn't miss so I'm going to assume that's why My blow dry came out super Afro ish! It was soft and smooth (on the top) don't get me wrong but very fluffy especially the ends. Normally when I get a blow dry my hair lays down like a press it's just not super straight. But again, I rushed her from the time I sat down until I was walking out so I didn't care how fluffy it was as long as it had moisture which it did. When I first sat down she looked at my hair and told me what I needed like a trim and to start using different shampoo and conditioner due to my hair situation and stevi came over to evaluate as well. She also showed me the products she used on my hair and let me take a picture which ladies you KNOW NEVER HAPPENS AT A SALON EVERRR so that was a highlight. Normally, all the bottles are turned around and they are strategically placed where you can't even see them. No gossip zone which I liked! I don't want to be hearing other people's business while I'm getting my hair done. If someone was gossiping while I was there, they were using their appropriate inside voices because it was a normal level of chatter where you could relax and still talk to your stylist. 9/17/2018 - Nash is a wonderful stylist - she really goes above and beyond to make sure you get just the style and color you're paying for. What a gracious, meticulous and patient young lady! I was a little nervous transitioning from jet black hair to blonde but it's been a wonderful journey so far - many thanks to Nash! Stevi has the best "bedside manner" of any stylist I have ever had. She's very good at asking you questions to make sure you get the service you came in for and also talking you through her process (how are you doing?, this will stay on for x minutes and then I'll rinse, I'm going to rinse with cold water, etc). Didn't scratch my scalp with her nails when she was giving me a massage/shampooing. Was on time and didn't double book over my appointment time to where it extended my time in the salon. Was very nice but not too chatty (which was great because I often spend salon time reading or studying). Loved how my hair turned out! I've been going to Stevi for years and she's absolutely AMAZING! Not only does she make my hair look and feel beautiful, but she also cares about the health of my hair and scalp. The scalp treatment is ORGASMIC!!! I get very dry scalp during winter time and her scalp treatment always leaves my scalp feeling like it could breath again. I love Hair Elite! Before coming to this salon, I was getting relaxers since I was about 5 years old because my former hair stylists were lazy. I always asked about not getting a relaxer and just having my hair natural. My former stylists would always tell me that I couldn't do that, my hair would fall out, it would be too hard, since I had a relaxer for so long, I have to keep getting it, they told me almost everything not to take it out. When I started coming to Stevi, she told me I should stop getting a relaxer. She told me that it was ruining my hair and breaking it off, which I could see because my hair used to be really long and now it's shoulder length. I finally took the relaxer out of my hair and got a Brazilian Blowout. The best thing I've done for my hair so far!!!! But since then I've been to a lot of different people in this salon for different things. El Jay is awesome with a pressing comb, I've gone to Pinky for a great weave, Danielle and Mushie both gave me some cute cornrows. It just is so much easier to go to one place vs. having one place where you might get braids done or another place for a weave or another place to get your natural hair styled. So I really appreciate them for that. It's also great that they work together because you're not just sitting there waiting for one stylist....they work to get you in and out. You can also set appointments online and if you get on their email list they have frequent specials and promotions. I'd highly recommend them for any type of hairstyle you're looking for and if you're unsure of who to go to for a certain thing ask Stevie is really upfront about who does what best and wants all the clients there to be happy with their services. read more

I love hair elite. I have never been to a salon that makes you feel as though your the stylist only client. They never have you wait for a chair nor do they run two or three chairs at one time. Your stylist only works on you and will ensure that you receive the perfect hairstyle everytime. I recently got a Brazilian from Eljay and not only was my hair I creditably manageable my hair grew at least 3 inches like Eljay said it would. He's an artist and is working to repair my extremely damaged hair. The prices are incredibly reasonable and they always have specials too. He gets all the kinks straight, and my hair is left soft and shiny. Eljay also customized the Brazilian Blowout for what I needed. I got my hair washed, conditioned, colored and curled by Stevie Dowells the Owner. The atmosphere is professional, warm and the customer service is fantastic! The staff really worked as a team to keep the flow of the shop moving and to ensure that everyone was taken care of. I also got my nails painted by Sina, she's very kind and took her time to find out what I had upcoming and made wonderful color suggestions. Overall my experience here was just barely ok. I've always been iffy about having other people do my hair since I was a little girl and the women at my mother's salon would curl and style all hair in lil church lady fashion, regardless of the client. I took a chance at Hair Elite after reading all the positive reviews. I called the day before to make an appt and came on time with a photo of EXACTLY what I wanted. So, without further ado, a list of pros and cons of my experience: *Pros* -Upon seeing my hair inspiration photo, my stylist insisted we get the products I would normally use on my hair to achieve my color (I'm platinum blonde) -my color did come out much better than anything I've been able to do at home (more on this in cons) -everyone was very nice and accommodating -the salon is nice and there was good music playing in the background *Cons* -My appt was at 11 am, we did not start until noon (granted, we did have to go buy the color. But my stylist also had another client who needed her eyelashes done get in the chair first) -bleach mixed with 30 volume developer was left in my hair for almost a whole hour AND I was put under a dryer with said bleach (I am already blonde, I have fine, porous hair, and I felt like I was the only one doing integrity checks on my hair...which was indeed over-processed to the point that I could pull my hair apart with a gentle tug in some places) -if I did not insist on the color being washed out of my hair early, I probably would be a perfect spokesmodel for rogaine -MY HAIR CUT/STYLE IS 10% SLIGHTLY REMINISCENT OF THE PHOTO I BROUGHT IN AND 90% WHAT THE F*CK. I believe I came in with enough hair to achieve my goal look, yet my hair was cut to SOOOO much shorter than the picture. I got home and combed all of the church lady bumps out of my hair to see that not only was it incorrect, but it wasn't even symmetrical or even. I guess I paid money to have to cut my hair again at home??? -my hair was cut while it was still curly and poofy, idk how she could feel certain she was doing a precise job with my hair in that state...? -I want to give the benefit of the doubt, but it feels like my hair was styled in a way that I wouldn't notice it was not what I asked for. -I was at the salon for about 4 1/2 hours for cut color and style Admittedly, while at Hair Elite I did not say the things I should have said. I paid and left a tip and said I'd be back. With all the other stylists positively reinforcing the style, I just went with the flow even though I threw a hat on 5 minutes after I left and cried when I got home. I'm pretty sure I won't be going back. I've purposely left my stylists name out because I believe she may do a good job in other scenarios, but I would've appreciated her admitting that my request was not something she could handle. read more

I switched stylists a few months ago & started seeing Eljay @ Hair Elite. He's a great stylist & easy to talk to about your hair because he listens!! I love it here! All the stylists are friendly & it's a family vibe here. They accept most major credit/debit cards. The online booking system is easy to use. The salon is easy to find, has ample free parking & they even take clients on Sunday's. I really appreciate the email reminders and news letters they send out. This update is overdue. I returned to Hair Elite to have a weave removed and to have my hair washed and blow-dried in preparation for braids. I scheduled my appointment well in advance with Sheila. Typically my appointments here have always ran on time so I had also scheduled my braiding appointment for the same day. When I arrived, Sheila was still working on her previous client who was having some type of color treatment done. Sheila removed the weave and sent me over to a washer (unsure of her name). Because she wet my hair prior to detangling my hair completely matted up. What was supposed to be a quick 45 minute appointment ended up lasting over 2 hours, the majority of which consisted of attempting to detangle my matted hair. The detangling process was so painful that I was in tears. I ended up losing a chunk of hair AND being late for my hair braiding appointment. I have enjoyed coming here in the past because of the individualized attention I've always received. This time around, I felt like I was a walk in who would get only a few minutes of everyone's time. I must have had 3 or 4 different stylists come over and attempt to save my matted hair while tears streamed down my face. All in all, it was a pretty horrible experience and I will never return. read more

I've been going to MIchelle for years, and was very excited the hear that she opened a shop with Stevi. And their new shop - Hair Elite - does it all!!!! I began going to Michelle when I lived in LA (driving all the way from the Valley), and have continued going to her now that I'm living in Oakland (yes, 6 hours away). Not only has she gotten my hair extremely healthy, but she does a GREAT job with my weaves as well, to the point where most people don't even realize i have one. Honestly, I travel to LA monthly just to have her do my hair, and can't imagine letting anyone touch it. Michelle's skills are unmatched, and I don't know anyone whose been disappointed with the results. While I go to Michelle, I know that she and Stevi have a very skilled staff that puts smiles on every clients face every time they get out of the chair.
