From the moment I sat down, she was pleasant and listened carefully to what I wanted. She asked thoughtful questions to make sure she completely understood what I had in mind. Her eye for color and highlights is exceptional. She took the time to really look at my skin tone and natural hair color, and then chose the perfect blend of color and highlights to complement my complexion. You can tell she takes pride in her work and has a genuine artistic sense when it comes to selecting the right tones. She also surprised me and added a glaze conditioner during the rinse, which noticeably made my hair soft and silky for weeks afterward! Additionally, I was so impressed watching her work during the cut. She is painstakingly meticulous, checking to make sure that the shape was symmetrical and balanced from every direction. She even made adjustments after the hair was dry!! I'm so grateful to have found someone who combines technical skill with genuine care for her clients and is FUN! I now think I've accumulated enough experience to give them 2 stars without hesitation. I've gone both as a 4b natural to get my hair pressed and when I transitioned back to relaxers. If you're natural and you just want someone to do a great job of washing blow drying and flat ironing your natural hair without giving you heat damage then this is a great place to go. I'm a freak about the health of my hair and never once did she damage my hair with heat tools and it always got very straight. The horrors started after I transitioned back to relaxers. I did a lot of research before hand and wanted to make sure I would maintain my armpit length hair. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. A lot of issues arose because there was no attention to the individual customer or healthy hair. I now realize that (didn't know what was causing it at the time) that multiple relaxer types were alternated on my hair every time I went in because they never remembered which one worked well for me the first time. It resulted in varying textures and a lot of breakage. My hair was either under processed or I left with painful scabs on my scalp. It would just swing from one extreme to the other when the previous experience was brought up. She tried to convince me that I actually needed to come in more often (ie monthly lol) to relax my hair to address this issue. Also, many times relaxer was found left in my hair while they began blowdrying and I had to go back to get it washed out.... Or they would run out of relaxer mid touchup and had to wait for more to be mixed as it sat on my head.... Either one of those things literally happened to me every time I went in. You would think they would realize a year in that I had a lot of hair and to prepare for that... FYI to keep this in perspective there are only 2 employees here and they knew my name. Lets see...I once had to leave with blow dried half done hair as I waited for her for almost 2 hours to finish with another client. As the breakage progressed, despite my bringing up the my thinning ends and short choppy pieces in the front there were no suggestions as to what the cause was. No suggestions for treatments. No tips beside more frequent relaxers. I'd routinely ask for roller sets to avoid heat and they'd schedule that for me on the phone but when I got there, there was always an excuse about time and I had to get it flat ironed... The one time I did get a rollerset it was rushed and came out wet. Had to be finished off with hand dryer. Basically there was no attention to hair health at all and I made the unfortunate mistake of placing too much trust in the knowledge of a stylist. She didn't know things I got off of a quick google.. but fronted pretty well in the beginning so I was deceived. I literally left every appointment thinking "I'm never coming back here again" but somehow found myself back in her chair. I often questioned what I was doing wrong...tried everything in the book at home..but its pretty hard to salvage a recurrently bad relaxer...I once had to come home and wash my hair out again with neutralizing shampoo because my hair was sticking together and getting hard. Also, the hours are extremely inconvenient if you work and the few Saturday time slots are very rushed. Pros: The salon is beautiful and professional looking. It was never crowded. Quality products (just not consistent). No head jerking or ripping through hair. In summary, I would honestly suggest this place (and have) if you are natural and want your hair heat straightened. If you get relaxers and actually want your hair past neck length I would run far away. Cannot comment on the extensions.

It was a wonderful experience from the moment I called. She greeted me professionally over the phone and booked my appointment right away. When I arrived she and her co-worker greeted me and my mother (who was not getting her hair done, but just joining me for the day) warmly. I was started right away. Her co-worker Damieka is in training, but you can tell that she knows her stuff. She prepped me for my relaxer by basing my hair. She did a thorough job. Richlin was in the middle of weaving another clients hair but came over to relax me in a timely manner. Her assistant rinsed me and did a great job shampooing, asking me about my tingly spots, and she gave a great massage. When I was done Richlin wrapped my hair and put my under her dryer right away too. I can't say how great it is to have someone be friendly, move you along and not drag the process out, and actually know what they are doing! She was even nice enough to trim my hair. I know that my hair is far from perfect and she did not make me fee lame for having split ends. She just offered to clean them up, which was very cool of her. I ended up having a great experience. The salon is in the middle of renovation but you can tell its going to be fabulous. Ladies, if you are a sistah in search of a new salon, try Richlin. She's great!

She transformed my warm golden blonde to an updated platinum blonde with dark blonde roots and several blended blonde tones throughout !!! Natalie is a master colorist and artist , for the first time in years I truly love my hair color ! Hair studio is elegant and quaint , reminds me of trendier studios in NYC.
