Came in for their Tiktok specials and [[HIGHLIGHT]]I absolutely loved the result![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I came in with black hair that had been previously box dyed both red and black. Ana & Ellie helped me color correct & managed to get me to a brown balayage while keeping my hair healthy. They take pride in their work and it shows in the results. Will definitely be returning.

It was all because of a raffle ticket I won just prior to the Covid shutdown. I had gone to other salons before but never had the relationship I now have with Anna. I met her after Covid at an event and told her about having won a hair care package for her salon but it was already expired. I was going to make an appointment with her the following week anyway because I saw her work on a couple of friends and needed HELP! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Anna was so attentive to my needs and concerns on that first visit, walked me through different steps she would take to give me what I "needed" to get me to where I "wanted".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Anna has always been professional but friendly, has so much knowledge of hair care and explains everything up front with no after surprises. She does an exceptional job! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also love it when we have time to just talk. She is warm hearted, funny, does an A-MAZING job and is my "Hair Whisperer".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She has expanded bringing in new stylists who are eager to begin their journeys. sorry but u guys ruined my hair idk why the lady cut my bang so hard when it was already cut i first asked for the bang to be at the chin length and it was already cut but she came n cut it above my lip and it's just a mess. Just got back from HP and I am loving my hair! Anna, is the owner, and she is amazing. From the moment I walked in she made me feel welcomed and best of all, she listened to me. My experience here was amazing this is my first time going here and I am definitely going to go back when I need a touch up. I was helped by Ana and I felt like I was able to really talk to her on a persons level. She made me feel heard and understood. This was my first time getting my hair done in years so you can imagine how bad my hair looked. My roots had grown out and I have lots of grey hair. I was doing the color myself so it really required some correcting. Ana took good care of me and really understood what was needed to get the job done. This review is mostly for Sathina - she offers "Premium Facial Waxing" services at this salon. I've been getting my brow+lip wax from Sathina for over 5 years now (from her previous employer) and told her that I would follow her to the ends of the Earth to get my brows+lip done by her. She's the only one I've trusted for so many years and don't plan on going to any one else. This salon is located on the very corner of Whittier and 5th - I'd like to say you can't miss it, but I totally did. I suggest parking on 5th and just walk over. When I entered I was greeted by the manager Alex(is?) and told her that I had an appointment with Sathina to get my eyebrows+lip waxed. I waited in the front for a few minutes and browsed at their other services that they offered and I had a nice conversation about what I was considering doing to my hair and she told me what the process would be like for my particular hair type. While waiting, she also offered me some water/green tea. I really appreciate her hospitality! read more

I've gotten my hair styled everywhere from Beverly Hills, Pasadena, Whittier, etc as a former "salon hopper". But I finally found a stylist who is amazing and consistent with the quality of expertise to keep me as a loyal client. I ALWAYS get compliments on both the cuts she gives me and also the color and highlights. My cousin came all the way from Sacramento to have her hair done by Anna after she saw my highlights. She did an amazing style on her as well !!! Plus Anna always keeps an interesting conversation going with a lighthearted spirit. With over 42 years of experience in the hair industry, Anna brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Hair Philosophy. It is no secret that hair is her passion and when it comes to her work, she is a perfectionist! Anna has worked in the East Los Angeles area for her entire career, but has found a home in Montebello and has served the Montebello community for the past 42 years. Anna has families and generations of women that come to her, so her client base ranges from young to mature. Whether it's a color-correction or simple bang trim Anna has truly mastered her profession and will take on any challenge. I was hoping for the best, and he gave me exactly the waves I was looking for. The process was about 5 hours, but honestly, I love waking up with effortless beach waves every day, so it was worth it! They even offer snacks and water during the service, which I thought was such a nice touch. The owner, who is also a stylist, was really nice as well. Tldr: Don't get your hair done by TONY…read more I got my digital perm done about a week ago have been debating whether or not to write a review. However, this whole appointment and the end result was too unpleasant for me to ignore. Tony was the one who did my perm and Tony was unprofessional. Please avoid having Tony do your hair. To start, Tony showed up to the appointment 15 minutes late (and his coworker was telling him his 11 o'clock was there) and then seemed very disinterested in trying to get the service started. Then, after briefly glancing at my reference photo and finding his own- Tony told me that my hair needed to go shorter and proceeded to give the most careless haircut ever. Total hack job. During the perm, Tony rolled each hair extremely tight that he even had to pause to massage his hands. The overly tight rolls bruised my scalp and Tony was so careless with placing the spacers between the rollers and scalp that I actually was tearing up because the pain was so unbearable. And even though I mentioned that it hurt Tony lowkey just ignored it?? To top it off- Tony ran out of rollers HALFWAY throughout the process so I had to wait with the crazy tight rollers for around 30 minutes (I am not exaggerating). And Tony's not the one that informed me about it- Tony's nice coworkers were the ones that continued to check in and keep me updated. Also, the whole salon had 3 digital perms going on (including mine) and they kept grabbing the rollers coming off from another client and directly using it on my hair. I don't know if that's normal but I thought every tool was supposed to be disinfected prior to using it on another client. If the digital perm turned out the way I wanted- I would not be so upset but the curls were MUCH MUCH tighter than I asked for. But mostly the experience sucked. And it sucks because I had come here previously for a regular perm and had such a great experience that I trusted the salon for another appointment. I will not be visiting this salon again. (And clearly I am very upset towards TONY for messing up my hair and being totally incompetent throughout the whole appointment. Also, maybe you wouldn't lose YOUR VAPE IN THE BIN OF DIGITAL HAIR ROLLERS if you weren't too busy vaping while doing your client's hair.)

I've asked several hair stylists and they all refuse services, except for Marine. She did rightfully warn me of the reality that the dye would be hard to remove and will take several sessions. I'm glad I did. I was greeted by Kathy with a warm welcome. She was pleasant to talk to and she gave me an awesome high fade combover and finished within 15 minutes and it looked great. The price was hard to beat too ($15 men's haricut). I got her number and now I can say I finally have a go to barber!

Which is why I reached out again when I wanted to do something fun with my hair for my 40th birthday. Since this is in an outdoor shopping center, there is free parking right in front. Although I no longer live in LA, I spoke with Kristie and she was just so over the top helpful in fitting me in into Ken's busy schedule. She was already in Taiwan for additional hair training and would respond to me, going back and forth between me and Ken. And mind you, this is before Lunar New Year, when most people would get their haircut! My day started right at opening time (10am) with a haircut. I gave him an idea of what I wanted and he just went with it. I will say this honestly: I've never liked my haircut this much. Why did it take me 40 years??? Anyway, we then had my hair washed and started with the first round of bleach around 11am, and then touch up. By 1pm, I decided to eat my lunch. I came prepared this time! Quick story: 9 years ago, I had no idea this type of hair procedure would take all day, and therefore did not bring lunch. Ken and Kristie fed me lunch! They are the best people, I swear. Anyway, after a rinse, we did another round of bleach with touch ups. I made it more difficult for Ken because I had dyed my hair a darker shade to cover my greys. I'm so sorry Ken! By 4pm it was no COLORING TIME! Ken started with the purple roots, then added the silver to the rest, with rounds of touching up. 5:30pm is when we did our last round of wash, then blow dry and a bit of styling. After a quick photo session, I was out by 6pm! I really appreciate them both for making this work, especially when I took up an entire day. Ken and Kristie are the best, and I will travel back to LA the next time I'd like my hair done again. Thank you SO much again Ken and Kristie!

Walking into Onyx completely changed my expectations. Tyn is truly one of a kind. Where do I even begin? He treats every client with genuine respect and gives 110% every single appointment. That says a lot about the kind of person and professional he is. He's also a perfectionist in the best way possible. He constantly checks in throughout the appointment, asking if you love your nails. Not only does she provide a quality custom hour and a half facial for me but she walks me through what she is doing, the different kinds of facials available, tells me about the product, and sends me home with the best skin care to up keep my face at home! Ok so recently I went to this hair salon in the OC and they bleached my hair to the point where my scalp was bleeding. My friend suggested that I go to her stylist named Anna her salon was in Whittier called Hair philosophy. I thought "what the heck my hair can't get any worse". So I called H.P and spoke with Anna and she was able to get me in the following week. I must say I have never loved my hair as much as I did when I walked out of that Salon. My hair color was exactly what I wanted, my scalp didn't even hurt due to the treatment that she gave me, and the cut and style was even better. I don't care how much I have to pay for my hair, Anna's talent is worth it and I feel beautiful. Anna thank you so much I got soooo many compliments and still do every time I go out. I also got my make up done by this girl named Amanda and my eyebrows waxed by Their waxing girl Rachel. They made me look like a whole new me. I drive more than 80 miles to see the ladies at this salon. For years I have tried different hairdressers, then Anna approached me and gave me an invitation to her salon. I live in Ventura County-Camarillo, CA I returned to Montebello, found the invitation and called for an appt. Well I had a wonderful shampoo, then they spent time special conditioning it, I had my cut, and then the team took over and styled it. I felt so pampered and they made it affordable. Owner, Anna Soto gives personal attention to detail,whether its color services, Global Keratin re-touch, Brazilian Blowout, color shine treatments, or extensions, I always leave looking and feeling beautiful! This review is for Brows by Sathina. Since I was 13 years old, I would get my eyebrows threaded. This created some bald spots in my brows that I could never grow back. When I met Sathina 3 years ago and we started waxing, I was skeptical. Since then, she has also waxed my upper lip, face, and underarms. I have never once gotten an ingrown hair or bumpy breakout from Sathina's waxing. She really knows her stuff in this department and is usually booked around the clock. This salon is amazing! I found them on TikTok and so glad that I did. The salon owner is very sweet, informative, and attentive. I got my haircut by Elyssa. She's very sweet as well. The staff are friendly and welcoming. I love my haircut so much; I received many compliments on it! My hair feels healthier and lighter. So much care went onto my hair. I decided to give this hair salon a try since I wasn't too satisfied with the last hair salon that I had visited. Right from the beginning Anna was super nice and made me feel very comfortable. She seemed to know exactly what I wanted and even reassured me that I would leave her hair salon very satisfied of which I did. Anna is excellent in accommodating me. It is easy to book appointments. The salon has fabulous promos to help keep me looking great while saving money !! The ladies also are wonderful and make the experience relaxing. I have been getting my hair done with Anna for over 30 years and whatever works best with my hair texture and face is suggested and talked about. My first time here was an absolute great experience! I don't have my hair cut often but when I do I'm very skeptical...let me tell you Anna and her team nailed it! Anna was so professional and cautious during the covid Pandemic times. As I entered the business with my mask on, she took my temperature and began services. The salon was clean, face masks, a face shield, and gloves were worn by the owner! These times have laid heavy On my heart and Anna was able to make me feel better with the services she provided in a very safe environment. read more
