I was referred to Miriam by a friend of mine. I came in very excited and showed her an inspo pic of what I wanted- which were lots of layers. Let's just say she is very.. VERY VERY scissor happy. Before getting my hair cut, my hair was very long-touching my bottom long. She asked if I wanted to keep the length and I said yes. She did the very opposite. Miriam showed no knowledge of how to properly cut my hair to what I wanted. She just kept cutting and cutting and cutting. If you have long hair like I do and want a haircut but want to keep the length, don't walk. RUN from Miriam and go to someone else. I am very much disappointed in the results. read more

This is updating my review after a month. Miriam had cut my hair short as I wanted. But because it was short I couldn't see well how well she cut it. It looked fine for the moment and I was very happy leaving. But after letting it grow out a bit I can see some flaws in her cutting. I had a Bob hair cut when I went in a month ago. It looked very even when I left. Now that its grown out a bit I can see how uneven her cuts were. The ldff side is fine. Even just how I wanted. The right side is completely off. From the right side back down to the front the ends are completely uneven. Its chopped and messy. I can't believe this! It was my first time here again looking for a hairstylist near home. Instead again I'm disappointed. I gave an extra star because I was pleased when I left. But I honestly didn't see how uneven her cuts were till my hair grew out a bit. I wouldn't recommend anyone coming here. Very disappointed. read more

Okay, so for YEARS I was getting the Brazilian Blowout... and absolutely loved it. It was a life saver for me because I have wavy, thick hair and it tamed that mess, drastically reduced the dry time, and left it silky smooth. Then... (boo hiss!) the FDA banned the company that makes the BB from using any amount of formaldehyde in the product, hence it lost its effectiveness. So... I went on the hunt for an alternative and came across a company/treatment called Magic Sleek. Read the info on their website and watched a video on YouTube. Sounded great, so I used the "Salon Locator" and Hair Revelation was one of the only salons in ALL of Los Angeles. I didn't even know where Bell Gardens was honestly (it's right next to Downey, just an FYI). Well, I called and talked with Anna who is the one who does the treatment, she was very nice, and we went ahead and booked for Sun 3/6 at 10a. On the day of, she was running late, according to another gal, who was also waiting for the salon to open. I was kind of nervous thinking she might have forgotten our appt, especially since we hadn't confirmed the day prior, and I had driven all this way, but she finally arrived around 10:20a yay. We got started right away, and all in all, the process took FOUR hours! I read a lot of magazines lol. At the end, I couldn't believe how straight my hair was (actually a little straighter than I like)... but wondered if after I washed it at home, would it still have the same effect?? Sure enough, I'm many washes in at this point, and it's just as straight every time! Same as with Brazilian Blowout, I'm anticipating that after about a month or so, as the product starts wearing off a little, that I'll get some of my body back. I like it straight but with a little body, if that makes sense! I highly recommend this procedure and Anna! I forgot my scarf the day of my service, and went back yesterday to retrieve it and she was just as sweet as can be. FYI, out the door with tip, I paid $200 cash. Hair happiness, yes! read more

I been coming here for years.!! I bring my son Here, My sister brings her kids here, and she cuts her hair here as well., this is a great family oriented place. Adriana (owner) is awesome shes really friendly and funny, she always offers me coffee when she sees that I'm tired or pizza when she orders some. When i bring my son she gives him snacks and drinks all the time. I been getting my hair cut from Veronica for going over 9 years now. And I can't see me getting my hair cut anywhere else... About the place: FREE WIFI, free coffee and animal cookies for all.!!! OMG!!!! Totally in awe and in love, love, love w/ my new hair color. Yelped a few places, I even drove down to Shear Vanity in Downey, they gave me a consultation "booked an appt" f/ me but told me to wait for a confirmation call, well that call never came. With my mind set on changing my hair color this very weekend bc of the New Year, I kept Yelping and found Hair Revelation Studio, I live close enough and decided to stop by. I got there right as they opened for the day-- Rocio greeted me with a smile on her face and made me feel super welcome from the moment i walked in. She heard me out and asked if she could take a small snip of my hair to see just how light it would go (some months prior I tried dying it lighter myself, hated the results and died it back to black the very next day). After a few minutes she said it could be dyed lighter-- she wouldn't give me a YES on what I wanted until she knew it could be accomplished-- we agreed I would return in a few hours. Fast forward to 11:00am, I initially wanted highlights but once on the chair decided I wanted a FULL hair change with highlights, Rocio kindly said this could be done and proceeded to get to work. A few hours later (bc as I came to find out, his takes quite a bit of time) her and the kind Adriana both begun blow drying my hair. It started to get super busy, so Adriana jumped in to make sure I was happy with the look and to make sure other customers weren't made to wait too long. When all was said and done I finally looked in the mirror and was ecstatic at the results. Definitely coming back for upkeep and without a doubt for whatever look I want to accomplish for Summer 2015. The only thing I wont comment on is cost since price will vary depending on what someone wants done-- but I thought what I got done was reasonably priced = ) Thank you sooooo much Hair Revelation and special thanks to Rocio and Adriana on making me feel new!!!! read more

I only like coming here because the lady does a good job. The owner is the one with really short hair. She's not approachable at all, only to who she chooses to. Been coming here for about 5 years and not once has she ever said hi. The other ladies are always nice which is why I love coming to them. I give it three stars because I like coming right when they open , at 11am. Every time I come, they're never on time . One time I waited almost an hour and luckily I have family in the area so I went and then returned about 2-3 hours after. They never opened and it was a "business day". Besides that, the ladies have a good hand and my hair always grows fast. read more

Needed a bit of a touch up on my Ombré hair as it's grown quite a bit since I last did it. As I walk in there are two ladies in the salon and the owner proceeds to ask me what I need. I explain to her that I need a touch up and she asked if I wanted to go lighter or the same. She asked me to sit on the chair and both her and the other lady walked over to me and started looking at my hair and began to tell me that unfortunately they don't recommend for me to go lighter because of whatever they did to my hair last time was not done correctly so now I have more than 2 color shades which wouldn't make it possible for me to obtain the color I want. They begin talking about prices and the owner telling the other lady " quote her for this and that and also this since her hair will need a lot of work to get rid of what they did last time etc".. I allowed them to finish and give me a final price which was really up there "because of all the things they needed to do" then they started asking me if the color I had is what I had asked for because of the different shades and a line across etc... Followed by where did you get this done?? So then I said " I had it done here, and it was done by you, I was informed that because of the color I had I wouldn't be getting the color I wanted but wasn't informed that it was wrong". Then the whole thing changed, they started with ohh well we could give you some purple shampoo to make the shades go lighter and to make it better.. Needless to say I didn't get my touch up done. Not sure what they were trying to do here but it definitely back fired in their attempt to bad mouth "another place" when without knowing it was them all along. read more

Hair Revelation has always been a busy place, but it's worth the wait. Adriana has managed to dye my hair from red to blue to blonde then back to brown with out damaging it. My hair is in great condition from hair cuts and hair products thanks to Ana. A great place to consider if you're looking for a good change. All of these girls r great and professional, my personal favorite is Anna she's just so down to earth and does great Hair. Her Salon is nice and clean, I know for a fact that they use good quality material. This is why I have been coming here for 10 yrs, I used to have another stylist some where in Compton who left my hair feeling like Hay but not this salon my hair has never felt like that, It always looks and feels healthy. Yes Adriana you mentioned my daughter still has the same color.. a good cosmotologist/colorist would use common sence to know not to over process hair especially when it has been exposed to harsh chemicals such as dye. Her only option other than cutting it off would be to color it AGAIN!! Second trust me it is not the same color you left it.. I was not to interested in posting pics but just to show you the type of work you are questioning. Also if you refunded the money to justify or trash your customers then you should have kept your money. The first time I was there I was not trashing any salons i was merely explaining what I did not like about the job that was done .. so that your personnel would understand my expectation of the final product by the way, just so that you know Rocio was the one that assisted me the first time; which i like her work. Not a problem with her, credit will be given where it is deserved. Also your staff should have explained the possible side effects using certain colors.. wether they are brought from Spain or China...furthermore we really were not after the refund.. when i first called i told your business partner to just refund half of what I had paid to be fair on both sides and she refused.. the yelp review was done so that other customers know my experience .. does not mean its going to happen to them. I think I am just excercing my freedom of speech. And you as a busness owner should use it as a training tool for you and your staff to practice good work and business ethics. Very rude, had an unpleasant experience. I made an appointment a week ago and then I arrive, and they refuse to attend me. I was planning to get my hair straightened and when I get there, they said they didn't have time to straighten my hair and that it wasn't worth their time.
