Im so sad. This experience was so underwhelming. It was our second time dining at the restaurant. The reason we went back was because the first time was fantastic. This time even though there were only three parties there, it still felt like the service was very slow. There was only one girl waiting the tables and taking take out orders by herself. Now knowing only three parties were in the restaurant, we should have gotten our food fairly quick but it took forever to get our food. First the water they served was stale and warm. Who the heck wants to drink stale and warm water on a jot and humid summer afternoon? We had to ask for ice. But the thing that got me was they've done this before. The first time we came to hakka wok last September, they gave us warm water. Moving forward, the plain chicken lollipops were definitely not worth it. Way too over priced. We ordered plain steamed rice and chilli beef and orange chicken with gravy. The Orange chicken was way too sweet. The chilli beef wasn't even a bit spicy! Why do they call it that? The only thing positive about this experience was our lovely server. She was very kind and attentive. Im still shocked by the lackluster food. The first time we came to hakka wok we tried the fried rice. It was amazing but when ever we go to any Asian restaurant, that's all we get. I really wanted to like this place since I love Chinese-India fusion food, but the place simply did not deliver. Its Super hard to find this place since their Main sign was off or broken when it was dark when I went to find this place. The service was very slow, it took about 45-1 hour to get our food when the place was Empty when we arrived ( they appeared to have some rush delievery) orders that were slow as well that went ahead of us). The food did not impress us as it was more expensive than other places like this and not as tasty. IM not sure why i would spend that much on a meal when there are better places a few miles away for better prices and faster service. They were very friendly with the service and even offered to give us another dish for free, but we simply could not wait for them to cook another. I would have like to try them again but since they were slow and food was not great nor were the prices I don't think it would be worth the trip. I'd pass and just try my other favorites. I wouldn't give them another chance unless they make alot of changes. Also the dining area was quite cold since they left one of the doors open for some reason. The only thing worth trying.. Hot garlic wontons!! Rest, the menu is limited and food is average or below.. Our combo fried rice was all goey and super sticky which we hardly touched. The hot black garlic beef was soo good and hubby really liked the chili honey chicken

We were group of 5. Nice small cozy restaurant. Food is really tasty. We ordered Manchow soup, and it was really good. Hot garlic momos were excellent as well as Manchurian noodles were good. Overall, the food exceeded my expectations. Paneer 65 was a different dish for me, Paneer was dry and crispy, was different but not for me definitely. Service is poor as there was 1 person doing multitasking. Heater seems to be not working. We have to keep our jackets on as it was really freezing inside restaurant. Two stars for great food, 0 fOr the service. Waiters have no clue what's going on - well at least one in particular but I won't mention her name here. It's a small restaurant, may be just 7 or 8 tables and 3 waiters. So, it's pretty amazing how they can still manage to mess up the service so bad. This place is bloody awful. Lots of Indian people hanging out thinking it's great - get a clue guys. Got the vegetable chown mein - the noodles are done right, but where's the vegetables ? What a rip ! Addressed this with the owner who apologized - dude - don't apologize, freakin' do something about it ! Bring back Suchada Thai who was recently in this same location. We went to this restaurant about 40 minutes before closing time, arguably its most popular time. Since we were waiting on one more person, we didn't order right away. However, the waiter was a little impatient and was itching to get our order as quick as possible. He also was a little clumsy, but other than that, everything was great. The Szechuan noodles were absolutely amazing and spicy; the manchurian fried rice was outstanding; the ginger fried rice was magnificent. Waiter suggested that Szechwan noodles. Ordered hakka noodles also. Both were not tasty. Noodles were thick and hard. Accompanying sauces were tasteless. They seem to be adding precooked chicken pieces during the preparation of the dishes, rather than fry the chicken pieces fresh. The chicken pieces were not tasty. 1 star for noodle dishes. Manchurian fish, dry version was excellent. 5 stars! Ginger fried rice was quite good. We ordered vegetarian and chicken version. Vegetarian version was better. Chicken pieces tasted stale. Burnt garlic fried rice was not good at all. Avoid it. Sweet and sour chicken : chicken pieces were excellent but sauce was mediocre. 3 star. Kung pao paneer was good. The paneer tasted nice. I would suggest paneer over tofu. They give you a choice of dry and sauce version for many of their dishes. Avoid ordering sauce version. There was too much of tomato base in the sauce and the sauce was not very tasty. Dry version was much better. I would not go back here. Not awful but not very good either. If you do wish to go, just order ginger fried rice and any of the dry dishes. Avoid noodles. read more

Not sure why this was filtered, but i believe it should be available to all friday night dinner, with my fiance... guess we came in on the last wave of the dinner rush. nice small place, nothing fancy... at all. The service: horrible- 1 guy and 1 girl bussing and taking orders. took us 10 minutes to get a menu! food came out relatively fast. asked the girl if they had fountain soda/pop... she had no clue what that was, so i asked for a can of coke... which she never brought, made no mention of, didn't even wink an eye indicating she realized she forgot it. brought the bill before they even asked if we were done or wanted to pack up left overs, which we had to pack ourselves after asking for the box. and no hello, how are you, welcome or goodbye, thank you. HORRIBLE SERVICE. The food: tasted good, spice was on point. portions were dismal. for the price of each entree, the serving size was pathetic. 15 pieces of small cut up chicken in the chili chicken- not acceptable. haka noodles barely enough for one person, let alone sharing it between 2, we also ordered G,TSO paneer. Never in my life I would pay 50 bucks for an appetizer, fried rice and orange chicken. The dish plates are so small..it was hard for us to scoop the food without getting it all over the table. Nothing special about the orang chicken. Fried rice had no flavor. They only have one girl working as a host also a server, she hardly check on our table. Shitty service. This restaurant got worst first experience was good but second time was terrible. The lollipops had a weird smell to it and the noodles were bland. The 1st time that we ate here (was referred by our friend a few months back), the teenage waitress who was trying to do a seating arrangement for a table next to us had accidentally dropped the soya sauce bottle on the ground and broke it. It shattered just inches away from us but without apologizing for inconveniencing our eating experience or asking us if any of the glass came around us - she started the SLOW & incredibly amateur task of cleaning that up for the next 10 mins. She was brooming and mopping and repeating the steps tediously, with total disregard for anything else around her, and right next to our food. We had overlooked it ONLY cause the food was good and it was our 1st time there. The 2nd experience was tonight when we called around 9:30pm to place a "take-out" order... The girl picked up the phone, said "hello" and then was giggling and continueing her conversation with another girl (who was loud) in the background. Then when my husband tried to place his order... she was like "Hold on ok?" Giggled some more and gave the phone to another girl .....Then this other girl said "Hello" Giggled and then said "Hold on a second" and gave the phone back to the other girl. And then FINALLY the other girl TRIED to take our order like... "Ok, yah what would you like?"...."Umm.... ok....right...". INCREDIBLY amateur & unprofessional. When my husband went to pick up the order around 10:20pm. They couldn't find his order (even though they took his name on the phone and said it would be 15 mins). My husband told them the dollar amount and what the dishes were in order to jog their memory, but they took another 10 mins until they could apparently find the food. But the food was ready and finally found and given to my husband after those 10 mins. And AS USUAL no apology for them being an idiot, amateur, and unprofessional. Even though the food is good... There's an absolute lack of supervision in this restaurant (ON A FRIDAY night? Really!), and we definitely won't be recommending this place - NO MATTER HOW GOOD THE FOOD IS to anyone in our community nor will we be tempted to give it a 3rd chance. read more

Hakka Wok - Manchurian gravy with fried rice and Manchow soup - Chinese Near Me - Schaumburg, Illinois

Let's start with the positive. The food which is in the end the most important thing was nothing wrong, perhaps a little uninspired. Portions could be a bit bigger to be honest, but what bothered me a little was the speed of service. It took literally 25 minutes to serve me the cup of soup from the lunch special and another 10 to get my main meal out. And looking around the place that was normal (4 guests), because everyone was waiting. In the 50 minutes that I was there they served 5 plates of their lunch special and 1 take out order. This place is meh. The food is a good- not great. We prefer Inchin's. Chicken pakoras are very good but that's about it. The service is awful. We came in on a Sunday at 8pm and it took forever to get someone to take our order and then our food. The place was absolutely filthy. We ordered the Hakka noodles and Thai green curry. Hakka noodles say they are "thin" noodles but they were made with thick noodles. Whatever. The Thai green curry tasted okay but not green. Also, there was a 15 minute delay between getting the curry and the noodles. What the heck. Overall, 3 stars for food and 2 stars for service. Go to Inchins. My family and I have been going to Hot Wok which closed down, and Joe from Hot Wok is now the owner of Hakka Wok, that being said, the menu is pretty much the same, the food might taste a little different, but that comes expected. The food is still very good! Schezwuan Noodles are my favorite. Also notable are the apps and soups. They still offer coconut water right out of the coconut which is a plus. The seating room is much smaller compared to Hot Wok but the downsize seems to help the management. I have been to the new location twice so far and once with a group of 15. They handled everything very well, their waitresses are smart and quick, and Joe was willing to split the check on 4 different cards! That's good service! Unfortunately this was way below expectations. Skip the soups and momo. Everything had way to much salt. Chili beef was almost inedible due to excessive salt. Not sure what's with the chicken but it had the distinct strong boiled taste and smell. Overall - would not return. read more

So we tried this little hidden gem today and I am all praises !! Bombay chopsticks was my favorite but I was so disappointed last time I ordered and my food got delivered 2 hours late !! And today we found out they stopped delivery all together so we decided to try a new place and this is just 4 mins away !! We ordered the hot garlic momos which were awesome. The fish pakora was good too ! For the main course we ordered Hakka noodles schezwan fried rice and chili chicken and the food made me a happy happy girl !! Thumbs up!! I called in a pick up order for lunch today, I was told the order would be ready in 10-15 min. I arrived at the restaurant 15 after calling in the order and I had to wait about 20 minutes until it was ready which decreased my free time to enjoy the food during my lunch hour. The staff also forgot to give me eating utensils which just sort of really ruined the experience for me, and the place was empty when I got there. The singapoore noodle was great tho! read more

There's been an invasion of Indian Chinese restaurants in the Greater Chicagoland area over the years such as Bombay Chopsticks, Usmania Chinese or the late Bamboo Gardens but Hakka Wok needs to be mentioned in the same breath and deserves some recognition. Their lunch specials offer entree, soup, fried rice and a mini egg roll. It is a incredible deal. and all for $8.50. I had the chili beef with gravy, veggie manchow soup, plain rice and veggie egg roll and my daughter and wife shared a general tsao chicken, chicken corn soup, fried rice and mini egg roll. The soups were really good. The chili beef with gravy and general tsao chicken were awesome. Egg rolls were as good as it gets and all under $20. It is 100% zabiha. Definitely, worth the drive out to Schaumburg. read more

they brag about it being Kolkata chinese.. and unfortunaltely tehu are from Tangra Kolkata the chinese food hub in kolkata ..but the food it worst i ahve tasted..being a kolkatan and having very well tasted the chinese style in kolkata..i will advice you not to venture into it... the soup has no more chicken stock with cornflour with nothing else.. and they call it the sweet corn veggie soup.. i hunted out 2 tiny pcs of carrots and one speck of corn ... the hakka style gravy noddles was almost u could puke on... andginger fried rice was soggy and alsolutely red in color the likes that you would get in road side cheap dhaba in india when they venture into chinese food ,the shrimp with veggies had 5 shrimpos with green onions and watercrest they call vegiie.. the price is conpared to PF CHANGS AND BIG BOWL and teh food quality is down the drain.. MY ADVICE NEVER GO THERE ....TRY THE NEXT DOOR SUB WAY INSTEAD..., THEY ARE SPOLING THE KOLKATA STYLE CHINESE FOOD NAME.. We went with a party of 6 on a Saturday afternoon and the food as always tasted good except the chilli chicken gravy. Mongolian beef, chicken fried rice and chicken lollipop was good! Service however is always a struggle here. There was one person serving, taking calls and pretty much managing everything else. For as well as this place does, it's baffling they never have enough staff. Chili chicken tasted pretty bland and some of their 'brown gravies' are pretty consistently average, at best. Stick to the dry stuff and you should be fine. read more

The ambience is of your regular chinese takeout place. The food was ok nothing special. Got their Hakka noodles which pretty much tasted like soy sauce and your usual americanized lo mein, not the signature wok fire flavor. COCKROACHES!!!!! It was our first time at Hakka Wok. Went there for lunch. While we were eating our appetizers, we saw a cockroach a few inches away from our food. My husband killed it with a napkin. We informed the waiter and within seconds we see another cockroach by our table. It was disgusting. We had the owner come out and he acted as if he was surprised. However, when I checked reviews I see that other people have mentioned cockroaches as well. read more
