    Sushi bar

Very nice food, good service. Place was dead, too bad, had nice food. A bit small and off the beaten path. The sushi bar was cool

Stopped in for dinner with my wife and we were really impressed with the food. The restaurant is kind of of hole in the wall but that's actually where I've found the best food. The hostess was extremely nice and the service was great. We will definitely be visiting this restaurant again.

The food and service were excellent! We ordered clear soup with mushrooms, and it was very flavoured. The salmon and tuna sushi were super fresh and tasty. The place was pretty quiet, which I enjoyed very much. The cardboard menu needs to be replaced; it's quite old and not in good shape. Other than that, I would give 5 stars.

The sushi was amazing. The service was great! I asked if they were able to turn my spider roll into a hand roll and they did with no problem even though it isn't an option on the menu!

Got a late dinner with a couple of friends about an hour before the restaurant closed. We were the only ones there. Went for two simple rolls: the crunchy spicy salmon roll and the crunchy spicy tuna roll, which came with 6 pieces each. (It seemed like the salmon and spicy tuna were actually mixed into each roll.) I thought the rolls were very good and I had zero complaints. Prices were very reasonable. Taste | 4 Atmosphere | 4 Presentation | 3 Service | 3 OVERALL | 4

Tucked away in a plaza off of Glenwood Hako is a super solid dinner spot. I wasn't super in the mood for sushi when I went in so I had a roll and sampled some other things off the menu. I started with the classic crab Rangoons and they were quite good, we accidentally got an order of edamame as well! For rolls we got spicy tuna and shrimp tempura both super tasty. Our friends got a whole bunch of rolls and they definitely have a lot of things you don't see on the menu a lot of places. They got a roll with broiled cheese and scallops on the top that looked super tasty. They also have a sweet potato vegetarian roll that everyone raves about. Service was good, the space is small so the waitress is pretty much always around if you need to call her over. I'll be back!

I went in on a Friday night and the place was a lot more empty than I expected. There was actually only one other table of people dining in. First of all, it's extremely small. With there being no one there, it had a cozy feel to it though. Even though it was tiny inside, the style of the restaurant was nice. I sat at the bar and had crab Rangoon as an appetizer and ginger chicken as my entree. The crab Rangoon was very fresh and really really good. The ginger chicken was good as well, served with rice and vegetables. They gave a LOT of food. My brothers ordered sushi platters and because it was a hibachi grill, they made these humongous sushi platters right in front of us. The chefs were very nice and checked on us a coupled of times. The waitress seemed a little hasty, but she got the job done nevertheless. I would recommend and return here...

$19 - Jumbo shrimp hibachi entree delivery, zucchini & onion requested as only vegetables. Lots of food, but the flavor just isn't there.

From the other reviews, I assume this place is the Haru Sushi that delivers on Postmates. If not, disregard this, as I've only eaten from here via Postmates delivery. That said, it's just ok. The sushi is pretty good and is delivered looking as beautiful as it would in a restaurant. The stars off really come from the hibachi entrees. I've tried them twice now, and they're just not great. Shrimp comes over-cooked, steak has been flavorless, the vegetables are primarily onion, and the rice is inconsistent in delivery. Sometimes it's fried, sometimes it isn't - it's a surprise! The entree comes with a white sauce and a ginger-based sauce that both help, but the flavor just isn't there overall. Good if you're hungry, but not worth the price (a jumbo shrimp hibachi entree is $18.95). If you're getting delivery, you're better off sticking to the sushi.

To start I got the spicy miso soup which was so good. Definitely a unique option. I also got the chief roll which is mainly cucumber and good if you're looking for a healthier option. The scary jerry was delicious. Very low key atmosphere. Will be returning.

    Salmon skin(?) not sure.

Noticed that the fish that they used are not on ice. All the rolls in my order were flavorless and took about 45 minutes to receive my food while there were only 3 other tables of two people in the restaurant and one of them was already served. Halfway through my meal, my stomach started to hurt.

I chose the fish wontons alongside the Raleigh roll, which was exceptional; the addition of mango on top was perfect with the lobster tempura for me. I am also always appreciative when a sushi place can accommodate my addiction to add cream cheese to any roll- they made it work! Service was prompt and attentive. The green tea leaned slightly earthy for my taste, but it did little to detract from an otherwise outstanding meal. Five stars, no hesitation…read more I heard about Sono Sushi through Resy and finally made it in. It's located in downtown Raleigh on Fayetteville Street, right next to the ABC 11 studios, easy to find and a great spot if you're already downtown. The ambiance is great and fits the food well. There's a nice mix of seating, tables along the windows looking out onto the street, high top tables, traditional dining tables, and a sushi bar if you want to sit up close and watch everything being made. It feels lively without being loud, and works well whether you're there for a date night or a more casual meal. We started with the Aburi appetizer, torched salmon belly, ooba, salmon roe, Japanese seabream, yuzu kosho, and ponzu, and it was outstanding. Everything worked together perfectly, rich, bright, and balanced. I also ordered ikura and ebi, even though I meant to order ama ebi, but no regrets there. Still excellent. We shared the Poke Roll with wakame, avocado, cucumber, mango, tuna, salmon, hamachi, and Sono poke sauce, and it was very good, fresh, flavorful, and well composed without being overdone. My wife ordered the spicy miso ramen and loved it. The broth was the star, deep and comforting, and the pork chashu pieces were massive, in a good way. I went with the chicken katsu curry, panko fried chicken thigh with house curry and koshihikari rice, something I haven't had since Little Tokyo in LA a few years ago, and it tasted like home. Comforting, familiar, and exactly what I was hoping for. For drinks, I ordered the "SONO? SO-YES!" entirely because of the name, but also because I love blood orange. Casamigos Blanco tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, coconut cream, simple syrup, and blood orange juice, it was excellent. My only complaint is that I wanted more of it. My wife got the Okinawa Spritz, a play on an Aperol spritz with passionfruit, and it was even better than the original. We finished with the yuzu cheesecake. I debated between that and the ube cheesecake, but since this is a Japanese restaurant, yuzu felt right, and it absolutely delivered. Overall, everything from the food to the drinks hit. This is a place I would happily return to, and honestly, I'm already looking forward to the next visit.

The broth is spot on and the ramen taste like they make it their own. There is plenty of meat and seafood in the ramen. We also enjoyed the fried oysters and octopus. They are fresh made you can tell. The most disappointment is the sake. No taste and no flavor. I forgot we also order the tuna roll with the ramen and it is awesome. Overall it is quite good except the sake.

Just recently came here for a friend's birthday. Beautiful restaurant inside. The staff however was…read morenot very friendly. Not rude but definitely wasn't trying very hard to ensure we had a good first experience. Usually, the waiter/waitress will ask if you've been before or if you're out for a special occasion. Neither question was asked. When we got our sushi the waiter/waitress didn't bother telling us which sushi roll was which, as this being both of our first times, I was quite disappointed by the lack of communication/ customer service. They were also out of Waygu beef and couldn't make the Rolls Royce sushi roll we asked for --which was a huge disappointment. The sushi rolls I got were really good. I wouldn't say they were excellent. The price was slightly lower than other places but still expensive. They did give you a good portion, so I really liked that bc I was full with just 2 rolls! I did really like 1 of my friend's rolls, but the other one had too much fish. I don't think I would come back, just bc with better sushi options + better customer service just right down the road, it wouldn't make sense to come back here and be disappointed again. Not at these prices. I used to LOVE their sister/original restaurant Kai Sushi in Raleigh, It used to be my absolute favorite but their quality went wayyyy down hill!! We haven't been back there in a year bc last time we went it was awful. They also have an outdoor patio but it looks dirty and the chairs are metal so they look really uncomfortable. It definitely needs a makeover bc it's a cute space, it has so much potential. They also don't have Diet Coke, if anyone is wondering. lol but they do have Coke 0 tho.
