Stumbled upon this place and so glad to have tried it! It's very tiny inside and ran by only a couple. They are very nice and checked in often. Kamura Roll (5/5 stars) - Very well crafted roll, not drenched in sauces, just enough to enhance the fish and soft shell crab flavors Bento: Mackerel and tuna sashimi (4.5/5) - the mackerel was perfectly seasoned and cooked, not too salty and just the right amount of juicy; the tuna sashimi was very good; I only didn't like the salad dressing as it was a bit too sour for me Overall, very good place and looking forward to coming again!

1 star for the service and broth was ok, the worst ramen I've ever had, it would have been better if I had top ramen at home! Over cooked noodles, eggs hard boiled and cold, 3 little pieces of thin pork! I was so disappointed, never again! I wanted to like them but it was just not good. So sad!

Yesterday was my first time dining in at Kamura Sushi. I have done take out many times especially during the pandemic here and the food was always excellent. Dining in was a great experience because we get to eat it fresh after it was prepared. We were seated immediately when we arrived by the window. It took awhile for the server to come over to take our order because she was soo busy! You have to admire the way the husband and wife team works! The hubby is preparing sushi while the wife runs everything else. So be patient because you can see how hard they work! The menu is extensive with appetizers, lunch specials, dinner specials, tons of sushi both raw and cooked, udon, ramen, etc. It's got everything you can think of if you're craving Japanese food! We ordered the spicy miso ramen and the Chicken Teriyaki dinner (comes with side salad, rice, miso soup), Spider Rolls (to go), Avocado Cucumber Rolls (to go). The food is delicious! My hubby kept raving this is the BEST Chicken Teriyaki he has ever had. Compared to other places, there is no chicken skin here! This is good, thinly sliced chicken breast grilled to perfection drizzled in sauce! The restaurant is by no means fancy. It is set in a corner in the middle of a residential area. It's a no frills kind of place but you come here for the food! Restaurant is clean, bright, and service was great despite how busy they were for Friday night dinner service (tons of take outs, phone calls, etc). They even gave us lollipops with our check. We will definitely be back more often!

We came here on a Friday night around 6pm. There was a few seated tables and no wait for our family of five. This appears to be a husband and wife shop and probably could use one additional pair of hands. Husband was behind the sushi bar making the rolls and such while the wife takes orders, bus tables, answer phones and serve the food. Have some patience as they can get backed up when it gets busy. The food was good, typical sushi fair. Fish was fresh and presentation was beautiful.

I've been here about 5 times and each time I've enjoyed myself. The fish is fresh and quality, at an accessible price point. (~$16/roll) The menu is huge, with diverse options ranging from cold rolls, baked rolls, deep fried rolls, sashimi, donburi (rice bowls), udon, & ramen. They serve beer wine saké and soju. They have a lunch special under $20 for bento box combos M-F 11:30am-2:00pm. It is on the corner of a block in the Sebastopol Business District. It's a bit off the beaten path but I don't mind. Makes it feel like a hidden gem There is plenty of free street parking. The ambiance is quiet & casual, the place is clean. The owners/workers are very welcoming and friendly. Their hours vary so make sure to check before you go. Pictured: Tonkotsu Ramen & the Kamura Roll

I came here thinking i had reservations at 8pm. They said they didnt seat anyome after 8pm. Instead of dismissing me they looked at incoming calls from the night before when i made the call. They proved that it wasnt them that i called and they did so gracefully and professionally. They made my vegetarian sushi quickly and sent me off with a smile and a very kind greeting; the woman came around the counter to hand me the food and the chef whom i suspect is the owner gave me a kind smile. He seemed like such a good person that i would return to his restaurant any day. The restaurant is small in a residential area but just enough for some sushi!

Very impressed! South west Santa Rosa is not always the best place to look for Sushi. And the location is odd for sure. But the reviews were good and so close, so worth a shot. We ordered the Sashimi dinner, Which for the cost was generous. The fish was delicious and clearly fresh. We also got the 49er roll, which was wonderful. The miso soup was really interesting, it was really dark, rich and different then most I have had. We will definitely be back!

One of the best sushi spots I've been to! Try the Salmon Collar for a yummy appetizer -- we love the ambiance and the owners are extremely nice and hospitable! Definitely a hidden gem!

The kappa roll and California! Great presentation super fresh!

I've tried different places in Santa Rosa, and this place is my favorite. I order the dragon roll every time. Can't wait to go back.

Yu, the hostess and waitress greets you with a smile and leads you to your table. You feel welcome, as if entering into her home. Since her husband is the owner, that makes perfect sense. The food is excellent with many creative sushi rolls to choose from. The rolls were exceptional and beautifully served. Judging from the quality of the sushi, I'm certain the rest of the menu is just as good. My wife and I love sushi, so our order was focussed on that. My sister was visiting from Germany and she had a great time, too. She is not a fan of the raw, so Yu was able to show her rolls that contained cooked ingredients. We even had an opportunity to talk with Yu about her journey from China to America. How many restaurants do you have an opportunity to talk with the hostess and learn about another culture first hand? Whenever we are back in Santa Rosa, we will definitely stop in and enjoy the Shiki experience. If you enjoy great, creative sushi and other dishes from the Orient, stop in and give Shiki a try. I believe you will love it, as we certainly did.

I just wasn't in love with how they did the sushi. I got a sashimi combo and lemme tell you...the plating was mesmerizing! I won't include the picture because you have to see it live. However, they had a kind of sweet rub on all of the different cuts; it wasn't bad! But just not my cup of tea, because it made all the different cuts taste the same n I wanted to be able to better discern between the types. That being said, it was an amazing experience and you should definitely try this spot!

And my taste are different differently different than others. There was something off about the kimchi... It just didn't taste like what I'm used to, but I mean that could be a restaurant thing. I was also thrown off by the macaroni salad. It also had no flavor. I really enjoyed the bean sprouts and wanted to get another serving but was told it was a sample serving and that they don't do more than that. I could pay two dollars m Overall, I think my biggest issue was that a lot of the food was much sweeter than I expected. I was especially surprised by the grilled shrimp because I never imagined it would taste that sweet. I'm not going to lie, I still ate everything because I paid for it and didn't want to waste the food. The highlight of the meal was the Love Boat sushi roll that they light on fire. Visually, it was really impressive and made for a fun presentation. Taste wise, though, it was just an average sushi roll. I couldn't tell that the fire added anything to the flavor. I didn't notice any smokiness or anything that elevated the dish, and I honestly think it would have tasted the same without the fire. For what I paid, I don't think the meal was worth it, so I probably wouldn't come back just for myself. That said, I can see why other people might enjoy it. I did really like the jalapeño on the sushi roll because it added a nice kick, so I would order that again. This is also one of the few times I've had Thai iced tea that was simply too sweet for my taste.

Updating prior review…read more.. I used to come here a lot and really enjoyed it. Decided to give them a try after going to some other sushi places for a bit, so it was a nostalgia trip. They have also just completed an expansion and remodel which added more seating, and opened up the restaurant with a bit. They still use the iPad based ordering system which I always like, since it allows for better pacing. While before I praised them, this time left more to be desired. The sheen seems to have come off. Not sure if they changed chefs, but fish did not seem as fresh, sauces were a lot more heavy handed (overkill), and it just didn't feel as clean tasting as it used to. Maybe an off night, but not nearly as good as I remembered it to be. They have more cute robots now - and the bee decor makes it feel more like a proper restaurant. Though they have a wide menu - I would probably encourage sushi lovers to look elsewhere. The ramen, fried rice, dumplings and bento boxes are probably a stronger suit here now. They also seem to be doing a lot of take out service now as well.
