    Lamb Gyro with white sauce????
    Chuck R.

On what planet is this a Lamb Gyro???? I'm not sure what happened to this place but the food is unrecognizable from when they started. Look at that pic. As a New Yorker, there's nooooo way that anyone would say that's an acceptable Lamb Gyro. Look where they put the white sauce. None inside. This is it for me.

Ordered jerk chicken over fries and I was so sad to see how small my order was. I've been coming here for years and I could tell the difference right away. Are they under new owners? The new containers are nice but definitely skimpy. The fries were also shoestring fries they never used those before. I'm going to stick to halal grill eats their trays are huge!

Small takeout spot, but big on flavor! Halal Bros is clean, fast, and packed with topping options to customize your meal. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and everything is fresh and delicious. Great value for the price, I'll be back!

Oh myyyy!! Like any foodie I have a bunch of places saved on my maps at all times to go check out. So when I found myself picking up my friend from JFK, it only made sense to stop by here and grab some food as I waited for her to disembark her plane. First of all, this place is poppin. It's mostly to-go service. You can see the chicken being cooked on the grill. It was quite busy even on a weekday night at 11 PM. Service was super friendly, the cashier was knowledgeable and suggested some sauce combinations, even went out of her way to make me try a piece of the jerk chicken with the dragon sauce before ordering. SO freaking delicious. I ended up ordering jerk chicken over rice and a jerk chicken quesadilla, both of which were phenomenal. The jerk chicken is appropriately spiced but not super spicy so you can definitely pair it with any sauce of your liking. Their sauce selection is huge and I can't wait to be back around JFK to try this place again. Definitely a must-go!!

After seeing this place all over Instagram I had to try it for myself plus it's halal so I figured I can't go wrong. Ordered the jerk chicken over rice and zinger burger combo. The zinger burger was delicious and filling. The jerk chicken over rice had the right flavors but unfortunately I found a hair mixed in with some of the chicken which isn't very appealing. One day I'll hope to give them another chance just not right now.

Jerk Chicken & Lamb Over Rice Combo (~$13)

Ordered: Jerk Chicken & Lamb Over Rice Combo (~$13): comes with salad, sauces (I chose white and dragon), pita bread, and a drink (I chose Calypso Island Wave Lemonade) Aya's take: I came here for the jerk chicken and it did not disappoint. Plenty of meat in the platter with great, savory flavors and seasonings. The mix of white and dragon sauces is a MUST! My only mistake was getting the lamb too instead of a full platter with jerk chicken. Nothing wrong with the lamb but it tastes just like tons of other halal spots while the jerk chicken is actually unique to them. Well worth a try!

Heard so many great things about Halal Bros Grill so couldn't wait to try it. The location is on Sunrise Highway and there is no parking so that was a mess. The location was very clean and great customer service. I'm not sure what I was expecting but i ordered the JerkChicken over Rice Combo platter which comes with salad, pita bread and a canned beverage. It was good not spicy at all and nothing to rave about. I guess I expected something phenomenal but it wasn't bad. I wouldn't return because of the location so maybe I will try another location and something else off the menu

This place is always packed no matter what day and time we've gone. Such great value and taste. For $10.50 you get so much food - I've never finished it in one sitting. I've had the lamb and rice and the chicken and rice and both are delicious. The chicken is juicy and flavorful. My fave sauces are the white, spicy white, and jerk. Parking is a bit hard to find which is why there's always some traffic around this spot since it is in a small strip with other restaurants. Some people double park in front but I usually park in the back lot. This is take out only as there is no seating area to dine in. They usually get people in and out quick. You order at the counter on the left since the one on the right is for online order pick ups. For how many times I've gone in the past few months since moving here, this place gets 5 stars from me.

Spicy chicken sandwich, with sweet potato fries, and a halapino cheese burger
    Norman J.

Yesterday was my first time trying the halal Brothers food .me and my wife put in a ordered thru grub hub.The order was missing my French fries. The food was tasty, I had a spicy chicken sandwich, which tasted delicious .I also had a double cheese burger ,we'll done .I have to admit the cheese was good . Seasoned just right, cooked well done just the way I like it.flame broiled right off the grill ,no complaints about it at all. The spicy chicken sandwich was on point and lived up to the hype I have been hearing about this particular sandwich. Seasoned good with a little bit of a crunch to it. There bun game was decent as well. My wife ordered a chicken quesadilla which she enjoyed, she said it was one of the best she has tasted. Only gripe I had with them was I was missing my French fries. I wanted to grade their fries, maybe next time I will get a chance to grade them, with a future order.

I had the pleasure of trying this spot out on September. 5th, 2023 & man oh man, it was AMAZING! Halal jerk chicken!- What else can a Muslim ask for? Lol. My co-worker recommended this spot to me & I'm so glad I tried it out. They have a decent sized free parking lot in the back, which is wonderful given street parking is kind of tough to find in this area. I travel a lot for food & this is the first spot I know of that has halal jerk chicken & other halal Caribbean options. Caribbean food is amazing, so when it is Halal, I am there! I was helped by a very sweet young lady. She was nice & explained the options & what kinds of different sauces they have available. I ordered the jerk chicken platter, jerk chicken quesadillas, fries & onion rings. Everything is fairly priced. My jerk chicken platter was so delicious. The spices & flavoring on the chicken were so unique & I've never had chicken that tasted like this before. The quesadillas were so warm & bursting with jerk chicken & veggies. The onion rings were perfect, as were the fries. Anyone looking for quality Caribbean food that too halal needs to come here! I will be back soon to try some of their burgers.

Never had Halal food before but while in a new city I believe we should try new things so I ordered the chicken plate which comes with salad and rice. Somehow I ended up with the chicken and lamb plate. I do like lamb so that wasn't a problem. I also asked for all sauce to be on the side just Incase I didn't like it. Unfortunately they didn't do that, however it was delicious. I got the white sauce mixed with the spicy white sauce. I didn't find it to be terribly spicy though so that was a bonus. That's the only reason I've given four stars instead of five, the order was incorrect, even though it worked out in this instance. If you ever get the opportunity to eat here, definitely do. I'm sure I'll be back.

Meat not chopped well. I added my own olives when I got home

Recommendations- Bastilla/Pastilla, Tagines, Zaalouk. Grilled platters are alright. On a side note, some dishes, similar to other Moroccan places, such as couscous, are only available on weekends. As per many of my recent reviews, I was at this Moroccan spot a good while ago, with our host having heard about it prior to the place being featured in the NYT Top 100 as well as on TasteBuds, a highly recommended Instagram/TikTok account. The woman who helped us, whom I believe was one of the owners, was very friendly, and the place inside was casual and decently busy, especially for how far away it is from the subway. The food was overall very tasty, with a particularly good bastilla/pastilla, among everything else, and I can see why this restaurant has gotten so much publicity. My preference of the two appetizers was the $7.99 Zaalouk, or eggplant cooked in tomato sauce and marinated with charmoula. The dish reminded me a bit of Egyptian-style moussaka due to the mix, though less tomato-focused and more about the sweet eggplant. The chermoula was very light, with a hint of sourness and spice. Overall, this was delicious, especially with the bread. The other appetizer was the Moroccan Carrot for $6, which was a mix of sliced carrots with a spicy chermoula. Of everything we ordered, this was the least favorite dish of the night, as the cold carrots lacked much flavor, as there was a lack of chermoula flavor, just like with the eggplant. Best of the dishes was the $12.99 Chicken Bastilla, or Pastilla, listed as a traditional Moroccan pie stuffed with chicken strips, crushed almonds, and dusted with icing sugar and cinnamon. A lot of people might find this sweet and savory combination odd, but I have gotten used to it, and this was a very good version. The chicken was well-spiced, the pie was flaky, and it wasn't overly sweet. The previous place, which had the best version, was the long-closed La Shuk in Harlem, and this is better, though I do want to compare it to the other popular Moroccan spot in Astoria, Siham. Second favorite was the Lamb Tajine, or Tagine, With Prunes for $22, consisting of slow cooked meat with prunes, dried apricots, roasted almonds, and sesame, and served with rice. The lamb inside was very tender and fell off the bone. I liked the roasted almonds and sesame as the bit of nuttiness helped with the overall sweetness of the dish. We also liked this dish, and it paired particularly well with the rice. My preference from the grilled section was the $16.99 Merguez, listed as Moroccan merguez grilled over charcoal, and served with rice. The dish came with many pieces of sausage, which had a slight spicy kick and a bit of a snap. For the same price, there was also the Grilled Lamb, or tender lamb with a choice of rice or fries. The lamb was pretty flavorful, but some pieces were a bit overcooked. It was good, though, but not as notable. The fries on the side were a mixed bag, with some being crispy and some a bit soft, so between the two, I would recommend the rice more. While I didn't love the grilled platters, the rest of the dishes were delicious. Combine that with the friendly service, and we had a very good time. I wouldn't mind going back and trying again, though this might also be because I want to have more of their bastilla.

For a brief moment, it genuinely felt like a glimpse into Moroccan hospitality. I do not rave about places often, but this is absolutely one I would recommend to others without hesitation.

I was brought here by my friend (and her family) as she recommended the place, and she came pretty often. I would say that my friend sometimes has interesting taste, but so far her recommendations have been really solid. Since my friend brought me here, I just took whatever she recommended, as she took command of all ordering. This was great for me, since I opened the menu and was like... wow, I don't even know what is good. So I just sat back and *attempted* to listen to what was going on. We ended up getting hot tea with lemon, beef skirt kebab, lamb kebab, samsa, cheburek with meat, and a few other things I'm not quite sure about. She just ordered, and honestly, I just ate everything she threw at me. The samsas were delicious! They were super flaky, and the meat was well seasoned and super juicy. The samsa were also quite hefty, they fill you up if you eat too many. It reminded me of the homemade ones my friend used to give me. Next up, the cheburek with meat. This was a first for me, and my friend said it was a must get. She was completely right... we ended up getting a 2nd order of this. It was super light, compared to everything else we ordered, as it is only filled with a bit of meat. The dough is fried to perfection, it was a bit crispy, soft, and didn't feel oily. It came with what I assume is a tomato sauce, which pairs well with it. We also got a few of the beef and lamb kebabs, and they were also delicious. The beef tasted better than the lamb, but my friend says that is just depends on the day. So I guess it depends on who is cooking that day? But the beef was super juicy, and it was well seasoned. The lamb was also good, but it just wasn't as yummy as the beef skirt. Overall, I really like everything here and I look forward to my next trip back to NY.

Went with a group on a Thursday evening, and the place is fairly small with about 10 or so tables. There was only one server but since there was only one other occupied table, this wasn't an issue. Service was prompt and friendly and our server was willing to explain things to some in our group who weren't very familiar with Uyghur cuisine. The space also had nice vibes, clean with understated and tasteful decor on the walls. We had to get the special laghman because this spot is known for that, and you get the option of either lamb or beef. We ordered both varieties and they were both delicious. The meat was tender and they're loaded with fresh vegetables, with the mushrooms being a highlight. The sauce in particular was incredibly rich and savory and I was tempted to get an additional order of noodles on the side just to enjoy the sauce some more. It was that good. Others in our group ordered the stir fried noodles which I got to try; it wasn't saucy like the laghman but it was equally delicious. We also ordered the lamb dumplings, which was probably the weakest dish of the night. They weren't bad, and for $15 you get a large plate of them, meant to be shared or enjoyed as an entree. It's just that for the area you can get better dumplings for a cheaper price. I probably wouldn't order these again when I return, but the chili oil and black vinegar elevated them a bit. But the real highlight of the night had to be the lamb kebabs, spelled kawap here, served on skewers. They are $5 a pop, so they're not exactly cheap but they are worth every penny. Grilled and seasoned to perfection with tender meat, I genuinely think these are the best lamb kebabs I've had in the city, and I've had a lot from dining at many Middle Eastern restaurants. These blow them all away. If you visit, make sure to get one or two skewers for yourself along with your entree. Finally we had some milk tea, served in a bowl and not a cup like you might expect. It was rich, decadent, a little salty, and a great way to end a great meal. All in all, loved my experience here and I'm eager to go back.
