The gyro, both the combo and lamb were each, so soaked in sauce, lacked veggies, and just average. The white sauce is now basically ranch. Halal's is located near Idylwild Road in a newer strip mall off Independence Blvd. They have a good variety on their menu with salads pita wraps, gyros and rice and protein bowls. I decided to get the beef and lamb combo rice bowl with special white sauce that was tasty. I was in a bit of a hurry to return to the office so I ate most of my meal at the restaurant and decided enough home for another meal. Service was friendly and fast. Last minute decision to come here and SO glad I did. Halfway through my meal I ordered 2 more to go to bring with me back to SC. Popped in for lunch and ordered the Lamb-Chicken Platter spicy with salad side, Chicken Platter w/ Greek salad side, an order of fries and lemonade. Platters come with rice which has a distinct aromatic flavor. Can't decide if I like it. My platters had plenty of rice but the meats were very small portion in comparison. Also my lunch date had a Vegan Shawarma and he's had it before. He was confused bc Rabeyah said it has tofu in it but before he was told it was made with plantains. Visiting the area from out of state and this place is near by. We love Mediterranean food in California so we were excited to try. Went in about 8pm, 1 customer in front of us, there was 3 of us. We ordered the chicken rice plate and 2 lamb gyros with fries. We absolutely love tzatziki sauce so we got extras. We were so excited because it looked great but honestly it was a disappointment. The rice on the chicken plate definitely has way too much cumin. The person who ate the chicken said the chicken was good. The tzatziki sauce tasted like ranch which was a complete turnoff. I ate the gyro along with another person. I don't like that the meat is precooked and put into heating containers vs cut off the roaster/cooker. They were more like chunks of meat vs slices that were put on a grill for 20 seconds to reheat. We asked for no tomatoes which we were not given but they added lettuce and no onions (like shown in the images at the restaurant) I would have liked the onions and didn't realize till after we were home. The fries were put in a paper bag and were soggy and cold. Drinks we didn't order, they have either canned or bottled drinks. No fountain drinks. We won't return as it wasn't to our taste. (Forgot the side of pickles I ordered, so the cashier ended up grabbing them for me once she was done taking a line of orders from new customers). Ambiance: Loud even with only a few people in it- it's got quite an echo inside due to metal on all sides. Food: Warm chewy bread- excellent. Lamb on rice was tasty (rice had a lovely seasoning on it)- did remind me of halal carts in NYC. My companion didn't like the chicken shawarma (asked for the daryu sauce but didn't get it). We both appreciated the freshness of the food. But the freshness of the (actively ignoring) male staff was annoying. They hung out in corner playing with their phones or joking around. I ordered the lamb doner kebab. I enjoyed the bread but the rest of my experience wasn't something I want to repeat. The food was bland and the lamb was very dry and in little brittle overcooked bits. I couldn't taste any pepper and I didn't feel any spice. Place was clean and looks like new. The smells is delicious. The photos of the food here looked awesome so I came in to try. I ordered the chicken shawarma and fries on the side I actually wanted to try the chicken platter. But I went for the wrap as my first try here. I paid $15 this was with the sandwich plus fries as a 20% tip no drink I got if for takeout. The service was very friendly, most male workers were in an exiting playful spirit which also gave me the sensed that they were picking at one girl, which was the nice cashier who explained to me the difference between the meats of the shawarma and the platter. If I could go back I'd get the platter, due to how the sandwich was made and you can see pictured, looks flopped and not actually wrapped I cannot even hold up with my hand. The flavors however are very very good. I also cannot recommend the fries... but I'm sure their rice with chicken plate will be as flavorful or more than the shawarma. My favorite at the moment would be the United Kingdom. This food was just okay to me. I got a custom salad which chicken and white sauce. White sauce was watery in my opinion. Plenty of choices and some specialties in the beverage area. Housemade sauces are always good and tasty. Be CAREFUL when ordering on delivery services as I always have my order a little messed up missing items or wrong items and I write NOTES on the order and still missed. Finally, someone acknowledged our presence and took our order. Visually, it's set up very similar to a Chipotle, Jersey Mike's, Yafo where your order would be put together in front of you while you make selections from the items displayed to customize your order. That's where you would be mistaken. Even though it looks that way, they just made the order without ever looking at us and then called our name that our order was ready. Surprise! We just thought they were making previously placed delivery/carry out orders in front of us....but they were actually making our order and never looked up at us. So even though the sign/menu says "your choice of veggies" we never were given any choice. When we asked this question when paying, he said we needed to select veggies or customization at the time of order. How would we know that if she didn't ask at the time of order? We ordered the Chicken Platter ($12) and the Combi Platter ($13), but with so much sauce on them we couldn't tell the difference. And the meat was so finely cut/shredded, it didn't really deliver a quality experience as I was unsure what I was eating. I guess if you order online via Uber Eats, GrubHub, etc. it may ask you all of these questions so you don't actually need to interact with anyone at the restaurant. Excuse me Halal Food Cart has got a brick and mortar restaurant and I'm screaming from excitement!!!! I was able to try 2 things off their very extensive menu. I had to get my regular combo platter and I have the Durum Wrap a try. I got both items to go. The combo platter is a stuffed to the max! It's covered in the creamy delicious white sauce. There was a side of mixed veggies on the side kinda like a salad. Overall o would say the combo platter taste just like it off the cart. Prices are a little more than the cart but you don't have to worry about parking or having to pay cash. The prices are still comparable and the portions are sizable!!!
