The workers looks so sad. Not welcoming! Praying for the workers. Life is hard. I hope the owners do something to boost morale at this establishment. Three women working, each looked sadder than the next. The chicken bowl i had was decent. They ran out of spicy chicken so I was offered another chicken. The veggie were good. My sister and cousin enjoyed the fresh veggies as well. Hopefully next time I. I town, customer service will have improved. Plenty of booth seating.

Mediterranean food inside Optimist Hall, let's try it! After walking around trying to see what I would like to eat, Optimist Hall has pretty much every type of food and desserts you would want, I found myself coming back to Mezeh. I love Mediterranean food and this is my first time in Optimist Hall. For starters, I loved that it was a bit away from the crowded areas and not a big line. The place looked very clean and it has a big open space inside. The service was great and the staff was very helpful. I asked if the chicken was spicy. They have two options, one is spicy which apparently is the favorite. One is not. I asked to try the non spicy chicken and they gave me a lid with a small piece of chicken. I went for the non spicy one. She did mention the spicy is very spicy, so unless you like hot, stay away or ask for a sample. I did try a bit of everything so it was a bit pricey but the food was delicious. Totally recommend, just know the more add ons you get, the more you pay.

Great place for lunch or supper. The "bowls" are delicious. The counter staff was very helpful in helping me choose which ingredients. The portions were huge and they use eco friendly products. Decent seating and great lighting however I think they were short staffed as the tables were dirty and the high chairs were kind of nasty. That would NOT by any means stop me from coming back. Most moms have wipes.

I placed an online order for pickup while we were hanging out at Optimist Hall. It had a ready order time, and I went in at the ready order time. Unfortunately they had not even started my order - which I get if you are slammed, but there was only one other patron in their food hall. Luckily they grabbed my ticket and started my order right away - they did apologize for the wait. We got the spicy meat Mediterranean Pizza which has spicy feta, mozzarella & feta, steak shawarma, lamb kefta, roasted corn, pickled onions, tzatziki drizzle, olive oil. This was amazing, I'd definitely get this again. Side note - it was clear the staff member making my pizza had not done one before as she was asking for help along the way - glad she wanted it done right. Unfortunately she only cut it once - it's a long flatbread type pizza, so there were two massive ends with the way it was cut. It is supposed to be cut into smaller slices. I didn't notice this until I had gone to the patio seating, and had to go back in for utensils to cut it in order to eat it. So this is just a note to check to make sure it's cut properly before you leave or make sure to get utensils. Definitely recommend as one of the spots in Optimist Hall, just need to perfect service a little bit to get to 5 stars.

Went to pick up an online order. Staff were not prepared and how are you a brand new business in a new establishment (4 weeks) and you have a B grade??? This business uses too many "fresh" ingredients and has pre heated food items to have a bad sanitation grade. That's all sanitation, handwashing, and poor food temp. I didn't order a side of food poisoning. No thank you.

Optimist Hall is a great spot, chill atmosphere. I was craving a gyro and Mezeh hit the spot!

I like getting my 'salad made from scratch' and that's Mezeh's slogan. Nice set up. My salad was delicious but a little too hot for me. The atmosphere was not energetic but kinda helpful.

Huge portions. Good food. Nice service. Tucked in the back doesn't seem to get too busy. Makes Cava look way over rated (cuz it is)

Got a rice bowl. Zero flavor and a piece of hair in it. They barely give you any meat. The falafel is the only good thing there.

Great food, great people, great service…read more I enjoyed the chicken kebab with yellow rice and lentil soup. Great stuff.

AVOID THIS LOCATION!…read more My family that resides in Clt started coming to this location because of the proximity to their house, but after this past visit on June 20th, none of us will ever be back again after the absolute awful service! And, as anyone knows, you can have amazing food, but if the people and service are terrible that can ruin any dining experience! We were sat in an almost empty restaurant just after 8pm; the waiter came to take our order and was very engaging initially. We were a party of 6, so we were going to order 4 diff apps prior to the mixed grill which is what we always get. We ordered the hummus, falafel (2 orders because only 6 come per order), baba ganoush, and beef sambousa. We were told they were "out" of the baba ganoush & sambousas cuz they would have to make them and it would take like an hr...this sounded odd cuz umm, don't you make all your food to order?? This immediately put both my stepmom (who is Moroccan) and myself off and we were actually going to leave, but we were introducing my brother's GF to this ethnic food style & him + my dad convinced us to stay, so we just added salad and lentil bean soups). We ordered drinks (the GF & I were the only ones that didn't order sodas; she ordered a pot of Karak tea for her + I to share & I ordered a sparkling water). After 10mins no drinks in sight we were like "ummm?" then at just over 15mins they brought us the apps but no drinks?!? The drinks came separately a few mins later...all except the tea. For $3 on the menu I expected a bottled sparkling water, instead I got flat water from the soda fountain. I told the waiter this and he said he'd try again and if it wasn't "sparkling" then what did I want to drink instead...I said just a filtered water w/lemon. We were missing an order of falafel (were told they only had the one order and would have to wait for the 2nd, so we just canceled it; again whyTF did they not have anything on the menu at 8pm on a Sat!?) and they only brought one basket of pita for the hummus; we asked for a 2nd basket. The lentil soup (my stepmom makes better at home) + salads were mid at best. 20mins later they bring the main course, but we still had not gotten the pot of tea we ordered nor did the guy ever come back w/my "sparkling" or plain water...we'd had enough of this horrible service & I went in search of someone (the place again was empty & I could not find our waiter or anyone anywhere). Finally I see this lady who had attitude (I have a sneaking suspicion she pretended not to understand english when convenient) when I asked WTAF was up w/my water & the tea! Again, another 10mins w/neither showing up at the table...we were also still waiting for the 2nd basket of pita, but it was moot as we'd already begun to eat the main dish...my stepmom went to the lady & spoke to her in arabic and was like "where is her water and where is her tea!?" the lady said she was sorry she didn't know we didn't get them (BS btw) that's when my stepmom asked to speak to the mgr. We also wanted to order Knfa for dessert, so my stepmom told the lady we were ordering 3 now since they were taking forever to get anything to us, and if they didn't bring them when we were done eating, we would not be paying for them. THAT part seemed to get through at least! Halfway (almost an hr at this point) through the meal they finally come w/my water and the pot of Karak tea. At this point we hadn't seen the male waiter who took our order initially; he shows up & is acting huffy (the audacity tbh!) & tries telling me he never said he'd bring a 2nd sparkling or reg water & when both me and my stepmom (cuz she was sitting next to me & heard the exchange called him out) he got all defensive & said "well I guess I misunderstood" so then we are like "why an hr for the tea?" "Wellll, that's how long it takes to make!" I called BS & told him if that was the case he should have told us that expectation when we initially ordered! He then goes "Well I had to go to storage to find it cuz we were out!" K, howTF is that OUR problem!? Just tell us that so we know what to expect!? No apology was made and we were not credited for the tea nor the $3 sparkling water which I never received. Also, received the Knfa (shockingly, right after the meal) but it was served w/o the pistachios it was supposed to come with. When asked for them, we were told they were "out"...because of course they were! Absolutely HORRIBLE staff and service here; the food was good tho, but when u have an experience like that it still leaves a bad taste!

They have a huge menu with plenty of options, and everything we tried tasted great. It's primarily a restaurant, but you can also buy packed food items which is a nice bonus. We thoroughly enjoyed the food here. They served generous portions of babaganoush and hummus -- both were delicious. They also gave us complimentary lentil soup, and it was surprisingly good. For entrees, we ordered the lamb shank, which was juicy, tender, and absolutely amazing. The adana kabab was top notch with incredible flavor. The chicken shawarma and chicken kabab could have been a bit more tender, but still enjoyable overall. They also have a large selection of desserts on the menu, so definitely save some room if you can. The chicken skewers were especially great during earlier visits -- very moist, flavorful, and something we specifically came back to order again. Unfortunately, our last visit was really disappointing. The chicken was extremely overcooked and very dry compared to prior visits. The brussel sprouts were also undercooked and mostly raw. It's also worth noting they do not take reservations for parties under six, which can make planning ahead difficult during busy times. It was frustrating because we know the food can be much better based on our previous experiences. If the kitchen were more consistent, the rating would be very different.

Pair that with their juicy Greek Meatballs, and you're in possible food coma! They also boast an all-Greek wine list, which is a nice authentic touch. Monday night, half price wine by the glass or bottle, all of them on the list! Love when they do that without limitations. So we went with a glass of champagne! Because why not when it's half price! Service was excellent , and the food just awesome . So fresh and delicious. The menu here is so nice and varied with so many options. We started with the prosciutto carpaccio, paper thin prosciutto with olive oil, and fresh Parmesan and fresh greens, white balsamic and hazelnut. This was amazing, just yummy. The roasted mushrooms, come on a sliced yogurt, with verde hummus, and sumac onions. Again so flavorful and so many different things going on in this dish. Highly recommend this. The short rib bolognese. A fabulous small plate, but plenty for two . This sauce was so good with the fresh grilled bread they serve. The pasta was perfectly cooked, spinach flavored. Truffle ricotta, and crispy prosciutto on top, nice pieces of short rib too. This was an excellent dish. We were truly full so had to pass on dessert but we did get a after dinner espresso martini, called the Salud! A Spanish table toast, peppermint infused tequila, espresso, licor 43, coffee liquor and creme de cacao. Served frozen, this tasted like an Andes mint. Perfect after dinner drink. It can be hard to find if you are coming in from the main street as it is located inside a building that has other restaurants and stores inside. But it is rather spacious inside with lovely minimalistic and neutral vibes. The service was pretty great as we were given recommendations and our water was continuously refilled. My friends and I got the Crab Brik, Wagyu Burger, Shakshuka, and Avocado Toast. The Crab Brik came in little triangular wontons that were fried to perfection. I think real crab meat was used which is always nice. There was some aioli on the plate, but certainly not enough to dip with meal in. The Avocado Toast was recommended by our server and it was a top tier choice! It had chili dukka on it so everything from the eggs, sourdough bread, and avocados tasted very seasoned, despite the dish sounding a bit plain. They do not skimp out on the avocado here. My friend said the Wagyu Burger tasted good and I tried the Shakshuka (for the first time in my life) which tasted very tomato-y but still yummy with the bread! I think this is a cute place, especially for brunch. I would rate this place 4.5/5 stars if I could. I want to come back and try their dinner menu which has more food options.
