Halal Gyro Man is my go to for Sunday funday food orders! (So good I once ordered it 3 times in one day) Their food is amazing! They have great combos. I like the chicken and lamb over rice. And you get to pick your sauces, all are tasty! This past Sunday I ordered the Gyro Man Platter with chicken, white sauce, and hot sauce. It was so good. But they forgot my fries :-( So I had to place another order through Yelp, and they refunded me $3, even though the 2nd order I placed cost $9 with another delivery order, tip, etc. So I was a little irritated that the restaurant couldn't just send more fries because I placed the order through Yelp. Whatever. The food is great, the prices are reasonable, and the portions are big. I love their falafel too, so tasty. I like how you can customize all their dishes as well. Like a Mediterranean gourmet Burger King, have it your way! From what I gather, Halal Gyro Man is a food truck the services downtown Charlotte during events and lunch, not sure if they have a brick and mortar restaurant. They also do catering. Absolutely incredible!! The loaded fries item I got isn't on the Yellow menu here, but it is on the food truck itself. These were so delicious and filling it fed both my wife and I for lunch. I will 100% be going back to get these and try more of the menu. Worth the trip to uptown! read more

You will find them posted up at their usual spot in a corner of tryon and 5th street and not only do they serve the favorites like gyros, or lamb over rice, but also wings, hot dogs, burgers, and more. Been walking pass this truck for a while not realizing they accept cards since most trucks and stands are cash only over there. I was hype when I saw the card reader on the stand so I took a look a look on the side of the truck and checked out the options. I took a late lunch break today so there wasn't a line at all. The prices on the side of the cart are scraped off so I just had to swipe my card and cross my fingers. I ordered the chicken over rice and man was it good! I have frequented this stand on and off over the years and it has always been fast and tasty. I ordered a gyro and cheeseburger and fries. For myself and my girlfriend. I get home with the order only to see the gyro and the box I assumed held my burger and fries. yes it was fantastic but when asked about ketchup I didn't realize he meant poured on top and there was no cheeseburger!!! I paid full price for two entrees unless a gyro and fries is now 14.40 this was a horrible experience and I will most likely never be using their food cart again as this made a bad evening worse. Decided to try after seeing a show at the Blumenthal theater and I'm happy I did! I've never been to the halal food trucks uptown but I've always heard great things. Decided to try the Gyro Man Platter which came with chicken, lamb, and I decided to add fries. The wait wasn't too long and everything smelled amazing. Now I was disappointed in the fries because they were string, greasy, and plain sad looking. However, the main platter was fantastic! The meat was tender and well seasoned. The vendor was friendly and they do accept card, which is super convenient. They also participate with food delivery service. They are only like 400 feet apart on seperate corners of the same block, so customers probably toggle between both eateries. The philly cheesesteak lacks any flavor and is leaky and messy. Okay, I'll admit it, I cheated on the original Halal cart a block down the road. It wasn't my finest moment, nor my proudest, but one night working late I had a strong craving for Lamb over Rice and all I had was my corporate card. Since every halal cart to ever sit on two wheels is cash only, this threw me into quite the dilemma. I pulled up Uber Eats to see my options and sure enough, right outside my building, The Gyro Man offered Uber Eats so I could pay with my card. They won my business. To satisfy my powerful desires, I indeed ordered the Lamb over rice with white and hot sauce and it was delicious. If you've had Halal cart food, you've pretty much already tasted what I'm talking about as I describe it. As far as halal carts go, this one is very good. The menu had a good selection of Mediterranean style dishes, although some weren't available (which is very understandable for a food truck - limited space and popularity of some dishes). Got dinner from this place on my visit to Charlotte and it was delicious! I ordered their popular lamb chops and the chicken over rice and both dishes were great. The lamb chops were little different from what I've had at steakhouses but it was still delicious. Their service is pretty fast and I was in and out in less than 5 mins. I was out and about when I found this cart and I was simply ecstatic!I spent some time working in New York and I simply fell in love with the Halal carts. This one did not disappoint. On my first visit I ordered the lamb over rice with white sauce and a small tad bit of red sauce. Even the small tad bit of red sauce proved to be overwhelming for me. I was there during the day and I cant remember his name for anything but every time that I went in the day this guy was there and he is super pleasant. I am a huge fan of the falafel as well. They are great. For some reason last night I decided to order a gyro platter instead of lamb over rice. I totally meant lamb over rice but ended up with lamb over pita squares. I was so pissed at myself for forgetting what to order. I have alot left so I will probably just go order some rice. I would not recommend this place to anyone due to a lack of integrity within the staff. I drive for Uber eats and I waited 15 minutes for a pick up, just for them to tell me they were out of a product the customer ordered. They told me they were cancelling the order. I drive for uber eats and had a pickup from this food cart. The delicious smell that filled my car told me they may be serving up some legit goodness...the fact that the eaters were waiting outside for me to arrive and nearly sprinted to my car when i arrived confirmed my next move. I went offline and went back for me. The next few weeks were a blur i went back at least 3 times a week. The gyro chicken or lamb are both so flavorful and delicious. The service is great. The tzatziki sauce is godlike. Ohhh and the bread they served the cheesteaks on is fresh and soft. So, I stumbled across this business at the Tacos and Margs bar crawl where I was pretty over the bar crawl and wanted to get something to eat and head home. As I passed the cart, I noticed gyros. Now I'm from NY and we are big on Gyros. So I immediately stop and check out the menu. Their menu is vast for a food truck! So I ordered some NY staples, lamb gyros and chicken with rice. I try to always grab a halal guy rice plate or gyro when I'm in any city and I was so excited when I heard Charlotte had a guy late night. This is THE place !! It is a must stop late night or any time of the day. Everything was perfectly cooked and had so much flavor. We ordered the lamb and chicken combo with white sauce and chutni. It was the perfect amount of sauce to bring the entire dish together. The texture of the meat was on point with a great outside sear and tender inside. The lamb had no gamey-ness what so ever. The chicken was moist. The flavor of the entire dish was mellow in a way that complimented the dish. Each ingredient was able to shine without an overwhelming taste of onion or garlic which I get sometimes with shawarma dishes.
