I've wanted to like Eggs Benedict for years. I like rich sauces, I like open faced sandwiches, I like breakfast sandwiches... but I hate lemon flavored things. They have a tomato based hollandaise sauce on their Eggs Benedict that is sooo good. It's perfectly creamy and balanced. It's almost kind of buttery and it compliments everything on the plate perfectly. I keep wanting to try other stuff on the menu, but I can't stop myself from ordering the Eggs Benedict. The other stuff looks pretty good, but I can't really speak to it.. get the Benedict. You won't regret it. read more

We went in early on a Saturday. The hostess was in the process of training 2 new people so it took a bit to get a table (which was fine, we understand training). We were the first table in the section and then they immediately sat 2 other tables in the same section. After 5 mins a server finally came over and took our drink orders last of the 3 tables. There was another server that came over to take our drink orders after the first one did. Once they got the server situation taken care of, we ordered, our food came out pretty quickly and was really good. We had the egg strata and praline banana French toast. Food was delivered with no silverware. I am at a location that does not have silverware (hotel without food service) and unable to get out to get some. The food delivered was something that could not be eaten without silverware. Establishment refused to deliver silverware and refused to refund amount - food will have to be thrown away. Management was very unhelpful and rude. Would never order from here again. If you go into a restaurant and sit down to eat and they never got your any silverware - how would you eat? Who doesn't put silverware in for food delivery?? read more

Not planning on returning. Came here with my mom and it was okay. The service was average and slightly disengaged, but maybe she was just having a bad day. We ordered our food and I ordered a sandwich that was super greasy and it came with tortilla chips and salsa that tasted like Tostitos, which would've been alright if I didn't pay a pretty penny for my brunch. My mom got a muffin that she really enjoyed and I liked my cappuccino well enough, but her grits were incredibly dry. There are just so many brunch places in the area where you can skip this place and you won't really be missing out on much. read more

I'd heard the food was pretty good and we were in the neighborhood so we stopped by. Hours on the door said they were open til 2pm. My family approached the front door at 1:35/1:40 and walked in to be met by a hostess with an annoyed frown, who started aggressively picking up menus and rolling her eyes. Taken aback by her attitude, I asked, "Are you closed?" She said, "Well.... no, but we close in about 20 minutes." I said, "Do you mean you stop taking new customers at 2pm or everyone has to be out by 2?" She said, "We stop taking customers at 2." I looked at my husband who looked at his watch, incredulously, since we had plenty of time. Obviously she was super annoyed to have customers coming in 20-25 minutes before closing time. I said to her, "Never mind, we'll go somewhere else," and she didn't say a word. We left and had a great lunch at First Watch, a brunch place that was appreciative of our business and served us with a smile. I worked in food service a lot of years. I would never walk into a restaurant five to ten minutes before last call but we were nowhere close to that. Really bad attitude that we didn't deserve = we won't be back. read more

I ate breakfast here recently on the patio outdoors. The patio is spacious, with good separation between the tables. I had pancakes, which were good. Why the 2-star review then? First, the service was slow. My friend and I were sitting out on the patio for a number of minutes, and he finally was about to go inside to get someone's attention when the waitress was just coming out. Second, and much more importantly, the waitress was not wearing her mask properly. It was below her nose. I asked her to wear her mask properly when she approached her table. She claimed she had a medical exemption and didn't have to wear one at all. Really? In a restaurant? She did pull the mask over her nose for a minute or two, but then went back to wearing it below her nose the rest of the time we were there. Inexcusable. She was wearing it that way when she went inside, so the manager and others who work there must have seen her. So this restaurant doesn't really care about the health and safety of its patrons. read more

I routinely come on Mondays with team members from work. The service is always excellent. They have plenty of options for breakfast my favorite is the Sausage biscuits and gravy. They also offer delicious fruit and pudding cups. read more

Went here (Mason) for the first time based on the recommendation of others. Everything was top notch from food to service. We felt very welcomed from the start. We love the fact that as much as possible is locally sourced. Please add this place to your list and help continue to make this business as successful as possible. Fresh home made foods. Tastes great and the portions are very reasonable. Food prep time is slightly longer than some but the fact that everything is made fresh makes up for it. Be aware that the map location is currently wrong, it's at the corner of Wilkins and Irwin Simpson. read more

Dropped into the Half Day Cafe on 14 June, just as many restaurants had begun to open post-Covid. While I was happy to see the precautions that were being taken -- "shower curtains" between tables, tables that were spaced apart and even some tables blocked off for social distancing -- I was disappointed to see one of the servers NOT wearing a facemask (we were there for 45+ minutes). While our server and all other employees diligently wore their masks, one lone female server (mid 40s, short hair, glasses) consistently strolled through the restaurant without a face covering. Given the state requirement that "businesses must require all employees to wear facial coverings", I find it interesting that this particular Half Day Cafe (for some reason) wasn't in total compliance. Though the food was good as always, my family and I will DEFINITELY NOT be patronizing this restaurant in the future, as one of their front line servers apparently isn't willing (or able) to follow state mandates. read more
