Calamari NOTE we already started eating it before the pic

First time at Half Moon Point! Made fans of us easily. We got the calamari which had fried the peppers which was a different touch and we loved it. I got the seafood pasta and my old lady got the lobster salad. The seafood pasta was delicious and the lobster salad came with a Brie fried wedge which was incredible. The staff was very friendly and they were prompt. We had a reservation for 830 and they were able to change it when we called earlier for us. We sat outside and it was perfect! Great date night spot.

Half Moon Point is an excellent American restaurant in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. The atmosphere is casual. The band starts at 7:30 pm the Saturday night I visited. Our server was great! The busser was very good as well. I had the garlic bread appetizer which was both filling and very good. My entree was the Chicken Parm with vodka sauce. The food was excellent. My beverage Little Willow First Flight IPA was a bit pricey. The resteraunt offers a decent drink and dessert menu so the food options are plenty. I definitely recommend Half Moon Point for anyone looking for a good meal at the jersey shore!

The area is great. We had a lobster roll, New England clam chowder, Manhattan clam chowder, swordfish bites, and brussels sprouts, with bacon and Parmesan, and two unsweetened iced teas. Everything was wonderful. We highly recommend the swordfish bites, they were literally fantastic. You can sit inside or outside, we opted for outside because they had shady little nooks where you could sit that had fans and it was so cool and comfortable. I could've sat there for hours. This is a BYOB. We had also visited the other point lobster house that is in the walkable town a few blocks away and that is a bar so it's not a BYOB. Just something to keep in mind the spot that's by the water you need to bring your own wine.

I ordered the hot lobster roll, and while it was decent, I've definitely had better. It just didn't have the flavor I was expecting, especially considering the price. My wife had the fish sandwich special, and she felt the same , it was okay, but nothing memorable. Overall, the food was average, and we both thought it was a little overpriced for what we got. If you're already in Point Pleasant, it's a convenient place to grab a bite and enjoy the waterfront, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.

If you are coming later in the season, I would try to reserve. First up -- some nice slices of warm crusty Italian bread and butter. I ordered a cocktail special - the Kelle Belle (or similar) which reminded me of a Pimm's cup. La Portena had her usual Riesling -- no complaints. Lobster bisque was one of the hits, the typical rich broth, with the not so typical actual lobster meat - small bits to be sure, but so often there is no lobster at all. We also shared a lobster roll as a starter - it was good but I would have preferred larger chunks of meat - the roll was accompanied by some tasty tortilla chips. Next up, a complimentary salad - this was fine. I ordered soft shell crabs - they were perfectly fried meaty specimens but the french fries and cole slaw seemed like afterthoughts- the plating was haphazard. La Portena's flounder stuffed with crabmeat was a better plate overall. Two fresh small filets, stuffed with a savory filling and some good mashed potatoes. The glass of New Zealand sauvignon blanc I chose to accompany the crab had the strongest grapefruit nose I have ever experienced. I know these always taste of grapefruit, but this wine was over the top. No room for dessert. Our server was warm and pleasant, and the entire experience transported me back to shore dinners with my parents in the 70s. I would return.

Used to come here with my family each visit to Pt Pleasant, ~20 years ago! I can say it has stayed great and was happy with the food and service overall. We each tried drinks from their menu (coconut mojito and the hibiscus refresh) and both were fantastic and came out promptly. Ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer and they were good, not overly flavorful but decent and fresh. Salads were great. For entrees I had the Truffle Scallops and fettuccine dish, it was amazing. Definitely will be back for that. My dinner companion had one of their specials, a fra di avo lo mixed seafood dish over spaghetti. Also delicious! Our favorite thing here was the scallops by far, don't miss out! The waitstaff and busmen do a fantastic job here. Very attentive and friendly :) Can't wait to come back, thank you Shrimp Box!

As mentioned, was here as a younger me and it was significantly better....food and cost. Parking could be a challenge there.

I started with a piña colada, and it was exactly what I needed on a hot day, cold, refreshing, and delicious. For an appetizer, I ordered the clams oreganata, and wow... these were the standout of the meal. The seasoning was absolutely incredible, and I could've easily ordered another plate. Next was the lobster bisque, which was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. For my entrée, I went with the lobster roll, and yummm... I loved it! The lobster was fresh, generously portioned, and the roll hit the spot. I also tried a few bites of my husband's shrimp fra diavolo. It was good, but I've had better. He really enjoyed it though, so if you like a spicy seafood pasta, it's still worth considering. Overall, this was a great waterfront meal with several standout dishes. We split the steamers to start and they were cooked perfectly and served with sides of broth and melted butter. My mom had the Flounder Francaise and I had the Lobster meal (market price $42 for 1.5lb lobster). The flounder was absolutely delicious but my mom's sides were very undercooked -- especially the rice. The server brought her new sides and while the green beans were better the rice was still quite hard....just very odd. My lobster was absolutely perfect and delicious served with melted butter, corn on the cob and coleslaw. As I mentioned earlier, we've been to Red's many times and it's always a great experience.

We went out to eat twice while there, once for dinner and once for lunch. I will review both places using this as my intro to the reviews. For lunch on August 5, 2026 we ate at Charlie's of Bay Head. We were 4 adults and a toddler. I was surprised the ratings I saw were basically average, in the high 3's. That was not our experience. Considering my daughter had tried unsuccessfully to book a dinner reservation, which she said was true for their entire stay at the beach, was why we ended up here for lunch, and should tell you it is more popular than a mediocre location. This is a pricier spot than my other review of last night's dinner at the Wharfside, but the menu and ambiance support it. Like the night before there were cocktails and wines with lunch, though less so than we'd have had if it were dinner. The wine list and cocktail offerings were more than just decent, though not extensive. Being lunch and not dinner, the selections were lighter than a dinner would have been. There were several sandwiches from steak, to chicken, to crab cakes, and lobster rolls. Our toddler ate off the children's menu and enjoyed the mac and cheese. We also had several appetizers, including calamari, the steak egg rolls, which seemed more like a burrito than an egg roll, and king crab, which, while delicious, was not worth the money at $165/pound. It is a lovely location with waterside dining, but service was slow and why we skipped out on dessert. For those challenged by the stairs at the entrance, there is an elevator that can be accessed to bring strollers and those with handicaps up to the restaurant. This was definitely a 4, maybe a 5, but not anything lower. At least that was our experience
