They were really good for Manhattan Clam Chowder for at a least 30 years. Unfortunately it's not good anymore, it's like orange water. Did you forget to add the bacon or salt pork? Too bad. Best lobster bisque I've ever had! Everything was so good and fresh! The guy behind the counter(don't know his name young guy in his 20s) was very nice, was telling us which seafood product had just arrived! Everything was brilliant as a guy from Chicago and tasting fresh seafood from the east coast for the first time! ! The seafood is good and obviously that's important for a seafood joint. We order from them a lot, and I can't tell you how many times I've asked for rice and I get fries. It's frustrating, and sometimes I wonder why I should care? Seafood is good, fries and rice are really not that good. Now I order my usual shrimp tacos, and they've changed the sauce! I'm sorry to say, but this just wasn't good. I previewed the fish counter to chat with the fish monger to see what was fresh and local; he seemed like a nice enough guy. Fish looked good. Atmosphere outside was lacking- view of the parking lot, and quite a few dirty tables. Our server was prompt tho forgetful. I ordered the black bass oreganata- it arrived hot but mushy... like mashed potato mushy. No off smell but texturally horrible. I went in to speak with manager who was fish monger; he was there with chef. He offered nothing, even after I brought my dish in to show the textured. After he wouldn't take off my bill, he remade it...and it wasn't much better. I just can't recommend after my experience. read more

This place has a family-owned vibe to it. I got seated very quickly but didn't see my waiter and no one talked to me for about 15 minutes. The scallops were recommended but they were chewy and overall not that good. Pasta tasted like boiled grocery store noodles with canned marinara sauce. The best part was the coleslaw. This is a great place for fresh hot food! We were so pleased with our meals. It's not a fancy place by any means it's all about the good fresh prepared Hot food. I dont know where to start. Lobster bisque came out cold. No lobster flavor had these strange cold gummy pieces of I do not know what. The texture of theses pieces were like flem. How discusting is that? Sent it back and got shrimp bisque. No shrimp flavor. Full of oregango, more like to.ato soup. My wife would not let me send it back so she said that she wanted to take it home--- to flush it. Grilled swordfish was good, but the french fries were fat, so they were undercooked and soggy. The steamed clams were good. Pretty tough to screw them up. You are better off with a ham sandwich and not putting a match to your money. read more

Most importantly, the Fisherman's Stew (aka zuppa dI pesce) was EXCELLENT. Christmas Eve level. Husband had his usual mixed fried fish. Very good but much smaller portion than in the past. We came here on a Monday night after the neighbor restaurant was too crowded. Well, even though it was second choice we were not disappointed at all. My combo seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked. Stay away from this place at any cost. The only positive note I can say is that the Clam Chowder, microwaved as it was, tasted good. Everything else was horrible. Overcooked fish, the item formerly known as fried shrimp was even worse. Offset by the fact the fish was undercooked (think raw). Waitress never asked how the food was, even with me sending the entire plate back. The last straw was their completely bogus billing practices. They add random amounts to everything you order. $15 menu item magically is $15.89 when the bill appears. This is for EVERY item on the menu. A little late lunch begins with some Blue Point Delaware Bay oysters at a very affordable $2 a piece. Lobster Roll for me and a crispy soft shell sandwich for my husband. We arrived around 8:30 and were immediately seated. Only needed a few minutes to decide on our orders. I decided on the Fried Seafood Combo $17.99 which is Shrimp, scallops, clams, founder, and a crab cake served with fries, and coleslaw. The other entree was Mussels with white wine and garlic over linguini $16.99. I was served a large portion of golden brown fried seafood along with a few clams in shell. The fries were crispy and delicious as well as the coleslaw. The seafood was great with a squirt of lemon and the cocktail and tartar sauce accompaniments. Just the crab cake was a little well done for my taste but I still enjoyed my dinner very much and I feel its such a bargain for the quality and quantity of food. Im told the mussels were excellent as well. The service here is always very friendly and welcoming. This was our third time dining here and this is now my first though of where to eat when I come to Point Pleasant... I'm a little conflicted-I really, really want to recommend this spot. Prices are fair, service is friendly, and off season you can easily find parking. It's also BYOB. But everything is served on or in plastic, utensils are prewrapped in plastic wrap, cups are plastic-and if you dine al fresco you spend half the meal trying to keep your items flying off your table! The lobster roll at $13.99 with hand cut fries would be a bargain, if it was a lobster roll. It's not, it's a lobster salad roll. Not a single piece of lobster was larger than the diced celery in the mix. The shrimp po boy was better, nicely fried shrimp with a good remoulade dressing. The restaurant was recommended by a friend for fresh seafood. The calamari was very good! However, as you will see in the picture, the clam strips were frozen straight out of the box. They looked like Groton's frozen strips. When we asked the waitress, she informed us that it's the only thing on the menu that's frozen. This would have been useful information when we ordered or indicated on the menu. The "fresh" French fries also seem to have been double cooked. The meal was as a whole was very disappointing And over cooked, apparent in the photo. As far as the service, we had to ask that the waitress clean the table before we ordered. It's was about 2:30 PM and they were not at all busy. The waitress didn't ask us a single time if we needed anything. We were there an hour and a half from ordering to waiting for the check. Visited the PPB location with my wife tonight for dinner. Ordered middle necks from the raw bar, fried calamari, broiled scallops and crabcake planters. To start 10 of 12 clams all had pieces of shell or some grit in them. The calamari was soggy and rubbery. The broiled scallops were very small and overcooked and lastly the crabackes had no discernable lump crabmeat that I could see. Sides were equally awful with undercooked fries and tasteless watery pasta marinara. Iced tea was very good and Mario our server was also attentive. Have had many meals here over the years but my last two visits were not good. I will not be going back. read more

Shore Fresh Seafood is definitely one of the stops you should go for when in Point pleasant. They serve fresh seafood and you can taste it! One of best ones ive tried today was their lobster bisque and shrimp po boy. The moment that bisque was served i could already see the lobster meat in it! I already had my benadryl ready coz i was not going to pass on this even though im allergic to lobster lol the bisque was made really well, very tasty and meaty. Definitely worth the money. I also thoroughly enjoyed my shrimp Po boy. The shrimp was plump and delicious. Cooked just right and the sauce was amazing! I think it was the sauce that made me love this so much. I did try their oysters too and this was my first time finding courage to just try and taste it. It wasnt bad actually. It tasted fresh but i guess i could only take so much of its slimey-ness. My husband and I were having a beach getaway and all we wanted was to eat seafood, near the water, at an outside table in the shade. We found Shore Fresh via Yelp and drove there after going to the Aquarium. They are over the bridge from the Boardwalk, but still walkable if that's where you're coming from. First good thing: they have a parking lot. The hostesses greeted us with a smile and offered us a choice of indoor or outdoor seating under an awning that provided nice shade on a 90+ degree day. We arrived early in the evening, around 4:45, and there were several other full tables. By the time we left, practically every outdoor table was full. The menu has a wide variety of seafood and even some land items. We were feeling splurgy and ordered a few appetizers and then the seafood sampler for each of us as an entrée- broiled for him, fried for me. We had shrimp cocktail-- a dozen large, beautiful pink shrimp, cooked just to the point of being done, chilled but not overly wet, served over ice with cocktail sauce and a lemon wedge. They were flavorful and luscious. We also had the fried calamari with fra diavolo sauce. The squid was small, with only the rings, no tentacles, and lightly breaded. They were perfect- not rubbery or chewy at all. Lastly, I had a bucket of steamers. These were the weird clams that have a neck that you have to peel off and a crispy skin that seals them into the shell. These aren't my favorite type of clams, but they were super clean, with no grit, and full bellies. I really, really enjoyed these. They were the perfect mouthful size and came with a cup of melted butter and a cup of broth. Our entrees came out quickly and to be honest, the fried platter looked like it contained more food even though by count, they were the same. The fried platter just looked better. And, oh em gee, was it all delicious. I'm not normally a fish eater, preferring shellfish at all times, but the fried flounder on my plate was absolutely delectable, and there were 2 hand sized filets. It also came with shrimp, scallops, three steamed clams, and a tiny crab cake. That's one thing that bugged me a little: what they called a crab cake, I would have called a crab ball. Service was a little spotty. I sat with an empty cup for awhile that didn't get refilled until I flagged a server down and asked. As we paid our check, we decided to take home a quart of their lobster bisque. The price was totally acceptable. With tip and all that food, our check was just a little over $100.
