fantastic bookstore. a huge improvement from the last store. little old bookshop felt like a fucking dungeon. i sold some books to them and got around $12 back, it felt a bit harsh at first but the extremely friendly employee broke it down for me, and it was completely true what he said. some books just dont sell as fast as others, and space is limited. while that isnt my problem, theyre a bookstore and i cant expect them to pay me top dollar for my books. if i wanted top dollar for my books i might as well take the time to list them on amazon or ebay, but that takes way too long and im a bit impatient, so the $12 i got was worth it. the employee who took a look at my books even encouraged me to do so.dont take your books there if youre expecting half of what you payed for back, thats just being foolish. theyre extremely honest and if youre giving them a low rating based on that then gtfo. the person before me denied his offer of $20 and decided he'd donate his books to the goodwill or the library, as if he'd become a better person... get over yourself. i'd rather help this place out then try and bullshit and act as if im doing something good. this place has changed for the better and the staff is way friendlier and more vocal than the old staff ever was. i love this bookstore and hope the best for them! read more

Every week I go in and they have changed the layout, it's funny. I really like this place and have always enjoyed being in there. I missed how it looked and was six years ago, before they started selling new books. They started selling back titles of allot of comics books and there cheap, I'm gonna have to ask that they expand on that and carry even more and maybe start selling new comic book titles the day they come out would be cool. They are gonna have to come down allot in their prices on used books and DVD and most used media because most people will just go to amazon and pick up any used book or DVD, CD for a much lower cost and thats even including shipping. I picked up the movie T2 from Amazon on blu ray for $1.99 in perfect condition and payed $2.98 for shipping so I picked up a used blu ray for a total of $4.97. The reason I'm saying this is not to promote amazon. I just want to see this book store do good and stay in business for more years to come. Used book stores are a dying breed and it's a shame, but I like the direction this one is going because it's almost like Boarders if they had sold used stuff.... Please come in and give this place a try, you'll love it........ read more

This place is AMAZING!!!! And worth the drive to visit, the most ammmmmmmmmmmazing part is that if you speak to the owner "Brett" he can special order a book for you, yes he searches high and low day and night to ind the hardest to find books in the world and he WILL get it for you !!!! I absolutely love Half Price Books! They have an incredible selection at unbeatable prices. Today, I scored a Riley Sager book for just $9, and some titles were as low as $0.50! All the books are in great condition, which is a huge plus. To make the experience even better, there was someone playing the piano beautifully in the store, creating a lovely atmosphere. Book stores are loosing out on online everything and audio. Glad this place is in my home town and still strong. They have a good selection of a little bit of everything, and its always a treasure hunt when you score. Totally recommend this place if you just want to geek and find something new to read. I've seen the shop a few times while driving by or walking in DTF. This was the first time I actually went in. It's a cool place with really cool vibes. Tons of options for books, comics, and even vinyl. The staff was super friendly, and really helpful in choosing a book. Such a great place! The owner spoke to us upon walking in, and wanted to make sure we were aware of the basics of the store, as well as making sure we knew he was available if we had any questions. Love this place. You can spend $10 or $50 and you'll still leave with more than 3 books for these prices. Wonderful staff very friendly and helpful. Just one complaint, personal opinion. Yes, the new books are priced higher than older books. But... it's still a used book. For the original price $18 the selling price should be at least half not $12. read more

Always a cute girl working here. People are nice and helpful. Found an older copy of Good Omens I was looking for. They have new books too. I got some Song of Ice and Fire paperbacks for $7 new, usually $10 at Barnes and Noble. They also have a big sections of Star Trek books. Makes me want to start reading them! read more

I miss this place in Whittier but we still make the drive out to come regularly. We get amazing books here, records, and graphic novels. Totally worth the drive for a book shop that is family run and has everything you want including a great soundtrack for the browse. We love it here. read more
