Bacon cheese burger with peanut butter
    Tom L.

This is our favorite burger place. It's an hour away from where we live but the burgers are great. This 50's type diner is cool. They have old fashioned malts and shakes, home made pies and cakes and the staff is always friendly. I ordered a bacon cheese burger. The server asked if I'd like lettuce, tomato and onions on it? I said no but I see you have PBJ on the menu, can I get peanut butter on it. As you can imagine she had a funny look on her face but said sure. When she brought it she said, that looks good, now I'm going to have to try that. Who knows maybe it will appear on the menu as a Tommy Burger.

Great service, excellent prices and a good place to enjoy lunch. I had the western egg sandwich and my wife enjoyed the grilled ham and cheese! We stopped by the art studio next door and took home 2 new pieces!

Were just passing through and stopped for lunch. We were so impressed that we came back for breakfast the next morning before leaving for home. If we didn't live 8.5 hours away, we'd be visiting on a regular basis. The food was delicious, the service was quick and the restaurant decor was a throwback to simpler times. We watched as other regulars came and went and ordered without looking at the menu.

Nice little luncheonette located across the street from the Star Trek Set Museum. Stopped in for lunch after our tour. I had the bacon cheese burger with everything (lettuce, tomato and onions, 50 cents extra each. A fried egg $1 extra). Delicious. Highly recommend. My better half had the Philly Cheesesteak. It was on the smallish side and was reported as being only okay. Our daughter in law had the salad with grilled chicken, which she enjoyed. My step son had the chicken tenders. No complaints reported.

I was passing through from Burlington VT and searched out a lunch place in advance. This place looked good. The interior and ambiance actually nicer than I expected... very polished presentation. The service is prompt and friendly. The food was unfortunately not what I expected. See the sandwich picture? Looks great, right? Look again. Very small patty. It's like 60-70% of the sandwich you'd expect to be getting. For some people the amount would be just right, I ended my meal with a lot of bland crust left on my plate. I'd rather pay a couple bucks more and get a better sandwich experience... I can appreciate trying to keep price points where people want them, but this was a bit of a let down. EDIT: the owners are pretty on top of their social game, saw my review and sent me a considerate response. While my experience was still valid, look for a more recent review to see if they took my feedback into account.

Finally got around to eating here this morning, I wish I had better to report, but we were unimpressed. My pancakes were tasteless, I don't like Pc's of maple syrup, give the whole bottle. My wife's omelet veggie's weren't cooked thouroughly, breakfast potato's were just deep fat fried frozen ones. We wouldn't go back for breakfast.

The main dining room was closed so we went down to the pub and opted to sit outside for the music. The view of the green is beautiful but on a 90 degree day for a seasonal place I was surprised there were no outdoor fans. Golfers coming of the course do have to walk through the patio area to get back to their cars which didn't bother me but can be descriptive if it's a large group. The lower bathrooms also double as changing rooms for golfers and have a shower and dressing area in each. Our server was friendly and attentive. The menu was small but very varied though there were certainly some colder weather option meals that looked interesting but would have been uncomfortable to eat in the weather. We shared the poutine and hummus plate for apps. The hummus was presented well and flavorful. The poutine had alot of meat, a good dollop of horseradish sauce and a surprisingly small amount of cheese curds. Fries were good. For my main meal I ordered the club sandwich without ham and kettlechips. The club was a single decker and was as expected but just a bit smaller. But the real star of the plate was the home made kettle chips seasoned with old bay. Admittedly old bay seasoning is one of my favorites. I would go back again and try some other things.

Steak was perfectly cooked and delicious as were the sides. Chicken Parmesan was good as well. Chicken was well seasoned. Would've liked more flavor when it came to the pasta--just a minor detail. Milkwashed vodka, multiple absinthes, rare bitters like Mephisto, Fontbonne herbal liqueur, black pepper, and muddles like apple-rosemary-thyme tincture are jut a few of the ingredients you rarely see elsewhere. Megan, the mixologist behind this cocktail menu, brings real craft, boldness, and subtle layering here to every drink. It's an inspiring work of art. With started dining with bruschetta topped with balsamic reduction and fresh mozzarella. Simple and perfectly prepared. Dinner dish one was fried chicken thighs with French-cut green beans. The chicken was juicy with a crisp, light breading; the beans were buttery with a punch of garlic. Again, perfectly prepared. Second dish was the medium-rare ribeye which was basted in garlic and herbs. I chose hand-cut fries and from the list of preps for steaks and burgers went au poivre to test their French chops, steak-frites-style. Note to self... au poivre on a burger is one I'd never thought of and is now on my list to try. The steak dinner was decadent. For dessert we chose crème brûlée... which was light and delicious. We also tried the bread pudding and it could stand proudly in New Orleans. Service was fantastic across the board. We'll gladly make the nearly two-hour drive back and we'll be spreading the word far and wide. Six out of five if I could... which I've only given to a Michelin Star restaurant in Portugal.
