When we arrived it was a little after 1:30 and the place was fairly busy. The waitress sat us down and let us know it would take an hour for our food. It didn't seem that busy to me, however, maybe they were short staffed in the kitchen. We had time to wait so we placed our order for 2 grilled cheese sandwiches. The waitress brought the drinks but didn't check back in. In fact there were a lot of waitresses working, most were standing around, one was maybe off the clock waiting, she was playing on her phone. One waitress seemed like she was doing a majority of the work. Truth be told, things felt a bit off with service and staff. After about 45-50 minutes our food came out. The sandwiches were very salty for some reason. Was it worth the almost 1 hour wait for a grilled cheese- nope. Would we ever go back, probably not. But seems like most folks enjoy this place, so maybe we just visited on a rough day. read more

In decades past, it housed a Rexall Drug store, complete w fountain service (and hard ice cream, serviced by employees who always seemed to get ice cream orders mixed up); then a smallish breakfast and lunch eatery; and now a really cool, expanded luncheonette (double the size of previous one). Owner Don May has done a superb job on the expansion and the decor. Open daily for breakfast and lunch, with dinner available later in the week. My best friend, Locomotive Breath, and I recently stopped in for breakfast. LB had pancakes (I recall w pecans) and sausage. I had eggs over w sausage, and rye toast. Everything was perfect. Drove into Ticonderoga to hit the Fort and the Star Trek Set. Star Trek wasn't ready for us, had an hour to kill and the gang was hungry. Star Trek staff pointed us to Burleigh's. It's very much that "fun for kids" diner throwback type of place. They put some fun fixtures in the place--old TV, rock and roll ish stuff, old timey phone on the wall--- You get basic lunch and breakfast stuff pretty fast. Kids had pancakes and fries. I had a Philly Cheese steak thing. It's nothing to write home about BUT loved the amount of local folks dropping in. Staff knew their orders, people were chatty at the diner counter (swivel old skool seats). Everything was clean, place was large--if you sit at a table. Don't look for liver and onions, or anything that's kind of the plate of the day type thing, it's breakfast and a few sandwiches but solid on that. read more

This is our favorite burger place. It's an hour away from where we live but the burgers are great. This 50's type diner is cool. They have old fashioned malts and shakes, home made pies and cakes and the staff is always friendly. I ordered a bacon cheese burger. The server asked if I'd like lettuce, tomato and onions on it? I said no but I see you have PBJ on the menu, can I get peanut butter on it. As you can imagine she had a funny look on her face but said sure. Nice little luncheonette located across the street from the Star Trek Set Museum. Stopped in for lunch after our tour. I had the bacon cheese burger with everything (lettuce, tomato and onions, 50 cents extra each. A fried egg $1 extra). Delicious. Highly recommend. My better half had the Philly Cheesesteak. It was on the smallish side and was reported as being only okay. Our daughter in law had the salad with grilled chicken, which she enjoyed. My step son had the chicken tenders. I was passing through from Burlington VT and searched out a lunch place in advance. This place looked good. The interior and ambiance actually nicer than I expected... very polished presentation. The service is prompt and friendly. The food was unfortunately not what I expected. See the sandwich picture? Looks great, right? Look again. Very small patty. It's like 60-70% of the sandwich you'd expect to be getting. For some people the amount would be just right, I ended my meal with a lot of bland crust left on my plate. I'd rather pay a couple bucks more and get a better sandwich experience... I can appreciate trying to keep price points where people want them, but this was a bit of a let down. EDIT: the owners are pretty on top of their social game, saw my review and sent me a considerate response. While my experience was still valid, look for a more recent review to see if they took my feedback into account. read more

Such a cool, retro, awesome place for a pleasant lunch in an old-school diner. I had the Hamburger club, and the stuffed pepper soup special. Both were excellent, tasty, warm and served with a smile. We sat at the counter, rather than a booth and made a few friends. Everyone is very chatty and friendly. When I'm Ticonderoga, I wouldn't miss this place. If you are traveling to see Fort Ticonderoga this is the place to eat. We arrived about 15 minutes before closing on a Friday night and they seated us without a mention of their closing soon. That was a first for us!!! Dinner was great, like the great diners of the 1970's and 80's. The reason that this place is special was there was never a mention they were closing. Was super excited to try Burleigh's Luncheonette during our visit to Ticonderoga. Unfortunately, after waiting to be seated for several minutes an employee walked up and told us it would be about 10 minutes before a booth opened up. Meanwhile there was a large table in the middle of the restaurant that was not occupied which could have fit our party. I believe the table was an 8-seater and we were a party of 5. I highly doubt that a party bigger than ours would have walked in and needed that table. Very disappointed to have not been able to try out this super cute restaurant. read more

I stopped by for dinner while visiting Ticonderoga. I sat at the counter and ordered a cheeseburger. The place is a faithful and enthusiastic recreation of a 50"s luncheonette. Black and white checkered floor, chrome finishes, diner stools and tables, and decor from the period. The jukebox satellite units are a nice touch. The staff was friendly, but not very engaging. The burger was great. You're going to need an extra napkin. The sweet potato fries came with a sweet sauce that I mistook for bbq sauce and put it on my burger. That made for an interesting taste. But the food was all great. I hope to stop by again sometime. read more

We ate breakfast here and we both thought it was very good! The one next our motel wasn't open on Mondays! What? I had 2 scrambled eggs toast & ham. I should have had one egg because you got two eggs, 4 pieces of toast and two pieces of thick ham! The rye toast was yummy! My husband had the same but eggs over easy and sausage(2 patties!). We're going back tomorrow as the biscuit reviews say they microwave them! Also, great customer service! We'll be back tomorrow and I'll have French toast. read more

After taking the Star Trek Tour there is no better place to grab a bite to eat than here. Walk in and take a trip back to the diners of my childhood with both booths & counter seats. A great full menu consisting of sandwiches, burgers, fried entrees (I had the fired clams & fries basket) with very generous portions. Honestly my favorite part was getting a real ice cream strawberry shake - yum! The staff was friendly and the service was prompt (even on a busy Saturday just after noon). The food, atmosphere and prices were so great I'd be a regular if I lived close by. If you're in downtown Ticonderoga and hungry - this is your go to place. They open at 7 AM and close at 3 PM M thru W, but they're open until 8 PM the rest of the week (except closed on Sunday). read more

They are always busy, as they are popular, and one of very few restaurants in town for lunch. Or dinner. So few restaurants in Ticonderoga! Service can be slow, but they are doing the best they can! They can only cook so fast, and sometimes customers don't understand that they are cooking take out orders too! I love the patty melt hamburger and the turkey club. Breakfast was just okay, I thought a little pricey for what you get for breakfast. One short stack, one order of scrambled eggs and corned beef hash, and one cheese omelet with sausage along with two beverages was 32 before tip. The decor is made to look retro, but it seemed forced and old, not retro. I wished they served breakfast all day (only till 11am). My friend had a patty melt. Our server was pleasant and efficient. I do note that they do not take credit cards, so you must use cash - but given the prices, not too much of that!
