First time visiting Hamburger Mary's this past weekend because we made a private table reservation for a gf's bachelorette! We had so much fun celebrating her, and I honestly wish we stayed for dancing afterwards because gay bars are the best bars. She got so much interaction from the performers (probably the most compared to others, lol), and I really appreciated it. The staff were really friendly and the queens were on their A-game. The only areas for improvement were probably turning down the AC a bit because we were freezing, but maybe I'll just layer up next time because there's no doubt in my mind that the performers are sweating and need the AC more than I do. This is your public notice to pack a jacket if you're coming for an evening drag show!!!! Parking was super impacted due to Apocalypse (EDM festival) happening next door at the Queen Mary, but that's out of the venue's control and we were one of the lucky ones to secure parking in the structure earlier in the evening. The food quality also left a lot to be desired, so I would probably eat ahead of the showtime in the future. Something I really appreciated was that they offered to make change and provide cash-back for folks that didn't get a chance to grab cash ahead of time. There is a service fee if you use card to get bills, but it's lower than what you'd pay at the ATM. I think the fee was $2.00 per cash-back transaction, but the venue can chime in to advise if I've misspoken. Thank you again for making our bride's celebration so special! Happy Pride to all the girls, gays, and theys. Will be back soon ;-)

We came on a Thursday night for a drag show and there was a pretty good crowd. It's an easy location to find in a good area downtown and since it wasn't a weekend, parking was no issue. The show itself was very fun. Bring cash so you can request singles to tip the ladies. Drinks are strong and if you request a "shoe" then you can bring it back to any of their locations and get 50% off drinks your next visit. Not a bad deal. Menu isn't huge, but the food was good. Burgers and fries are hard to mess up.

Hands down such a great time!!! The security was nice. The staff were great. The performances were LIT!!! seat set up was cool. I don't think there are many places inside here where you cannot get a good view. These gals really do make them dollllllaaars holla!!! Drinks were delicious. I will say the cute boot dranks don't hold much but they are too cute not to have one. We didn't try the food. Pizza was ordered but I didn't try it. I should have. Dj music at the end was good. Not sure why everyone leaves. Looks like it could be a grand ol' time. Pricing to get in was reasonable. We brought our dollaaaaq billsssss!!! Getting in was quick. Thankfully the show started a bit after 8pm. Therefore we were not late. Next time we will grab a bite to eat here

    * Who: friends x2, partner, & I * What: brunch * When: Sunday around 2pm * Why: friend's belated birthday celebration * Space/Decor: pretty big on the inside, with a patio out front. Colors & decor align with queer style/flair haha. Check-in counter is right at the front, followed by the bar on the right, with stage to the left surrounded by tables on varying heights levels. Bathrooms are located by the bar & pretty easy to navigate around, especially during performances. * Service: was as good as it could be given the busy-ness. Like staff was friendly & helpful, it just took a while at times to get drinks refilled but again it was a packed house. There's a staff available to break bills into smaller denominations. As expected, the queens were the stars of the night. They were funny, fierce, & gorgeous. They make sure to walk around & interact, so make sure you TIP! * Food: was average. Nothing to rave about, decent selection at least & nothing was bad lol. It for sure did its job in soaking up some of the drinks haha. * Final Thoughts: an iconic & staple restaurant/venue in LB, known for entertaining drag performances & fun/positive energy. Whether you're celebrating something or just looking for a gay old time , it's definitely a place worth checking out. Would recommend & would return (again)! * Final Grade: A or 9.5/10

My friends and I visited Hamburger Mary's to celebrate our 49-year friendship, and unfortunately, the experience didn't match the occasion. For a venue that clearly draws large crowds and sells tickets in advance, we expected a more organized and professional level of service. There were only two bartenders handling a packed bar, making drinks one at a time while also trying to support wait staff. The result was long waits and visible strain on the team. It also seemed like there weren't enough servers or kitchen staff to keep up with the volume. It took quite a while just to have our order taken--and significantly longer for the food to arrive. When it finally did, two of our four meals were incorrect, and one didn't come out until the rest of us were nearly finished eating. While we understand that busy shows can be challenging, advance ticket sales should give management a clear idea of how to properly staff each show. We also felt it was inappropriate for our server to attribute order mistakes to hearing difficulties, especially when it impacted accuracy and the overall experience. We came to celebrate a meaningful milestone together, and it was disappointing that service issues overshadowed what should have been a special brunch. Its a good thing the music was great and the girls were entertaining

ll keep it short and sweet. It's called hamburger Mary's get a burger. The food is alright. Above average for most drag brunches but you are at the Disneyland of drag. Just like Disneyland be prepared to be nickeled and dimed. Also like Disneyland These queens will take you for a ride. 18 plus for the Brunchettes show

Made it to the 8pm show. Arrived at 7pm. Ordered drinks. Frozen strawberry daiquiri was not good. Just crushed ice. No flavor. Service was extremely slow. Waitress took 1.5 hours to come back and take food order. Burger was mid. Bun not hot or toasted. Wings were not coasted in hot wing sauce so felt like I was eating fried chicken. Floors were filthy. Looked like they had not swept in days. Show was the only good part really, and my company.

WOOOOOW...This was my very first drag brunch and I am so glad my group and I went with HMLB! In order to get tickets my group and I went online to secure our seat; we got VIP to secure good seating and I am glad we did (loved the Brunchettes)!! The area is such a cute downtown area with lots of surrounding shops that you can walk around and enjoy. Our tickets instructed us to arrive at 12:45pm but we didn't enter the restaurant until 1:10pm since there was only one server (he did amazing). With the experience, the "wait" was forgotten! Once the performance started my jaw was on the floor the entire time. Prepare your cash for the performers if you plan on coming because they go all out to prepare for the show and their appearances. Drinks and food were amazing and the show was a 10/10- I will be coming back for sure!

If you're looking for a low key, quiet meal... this is not your spot, lol. This was my first time at Hamburger Mary's, I went with friends for the Saturday brunch show. It is so much fun. It feels like a full blown party. Loud, chaotic, and definitely not PG rated. I was super impressed with the performers. I was immediately drawn in and cheering the whole time. The Queens are hilarious and clearly having a blast. They also do a great job of giving every table plenty of attention. I went for the show and wasn't expecting much from the food, and I was totally fine with that. But the burger and fries were actually really good. Also, get the stripper boot cup with the bottomless mimosa. Just commit to the experience. Go for a birthday, a bachelorette, a team outing, a Friday night, or just to celebrate being alive. You won't regret it. I can't wait to go back!

    Very Delta's 50th Birthday at Hamburger Mary's !
    Tamara T.

I've been here twice since my first/last visit and each time it's been great. The staff are all hard working and super nice. We were working the 50th Birthday Party for Delta Work and I saw the staff hustling and cranking out orders to the sold out crowd. Jenny was super nice and answered any questions we had and one of the other servers with the green hair was really helpful and let us know everything on the menu is good but not so much the chicken tenders. We parked at the structure behind the venue and were there from 5 pm until almost 1 am and paid $12 total. The structure only takes card, it does not accept cash, Apple Pay or Google...wallet? Jewels was seriously such a great host and very kind and made us feel like we were family. Hamburger Mary's LB is a vibe. If you're able to catch one of the famous queens or not so famous queens, just do it because it's always a fun time.

Seems to have dropped off over the years. Don't make a reservation online! You end up paying for tickets on the site and then you'll be charged again at the door. The food is mid especially for how expensive it is. Totally overpriced. Also, they don't have draft beer and the canned beer they do serve is skunked. The place seems to be falling apart too. The tv screen was glitching and the table was rocking so bad the food almost fell off. The show was good though, really talented performers.

I now have been here for a weekend drag brunch and for one of their Wednesday events (they had Lydia b kollins) Honestly this place is amazing. I have never been so happy to be gay than when I get a chance to come here. Their bottomless mimosas is so worth it and they refill them quick. Their food is a tad bit pricy but honestly it's all worth it. I can't wait to keep coming back here to support our local queens and hamburger Mary's!

Ask the Community - Hamburger Mary's - Long Beach

Will my entire party have to be present for us to be seated?

No, you can let them know how more people will be coming. You can also reserve a table for the amount people you need.

What's the age limit for shows,?

The age for entry is 18. however, I believe if a minor is accompanied by their parents, they will be allowed in.

Can we bring a birthday cake?

Is the house made vegan patty gluten free?

I've no idea. It's probably best to call directly.

Can I bring my 17yo to Sunday brunch? He has been before but wanted to know if rules have changed due to the unfair madness aimed at the drag community lately😢

I took my 16 year old niece for her birthday. She had a wonderful time. They just "mark" her hand so she won't be served.

How long is the brunch show?

It's not a bar the club two different things

Is your outside patio open now? Trying to eat outside because of covid. Thank you in advance if anyone knows!

I was there yesterday and we were able to have our drinks out on the patio after our show but not sure if there is table service out there.

I am planning my birthday brunch here next month & I want to know if it is kid friendly? My daughter is 14 (teenager) but I just want to know if she would be allowed to watch the drag show?

This is at your discretion as a parent. There is a lot of adult content during performances and adult language in between performances. She would be allowed to join you. Hope this helps.

    Do they check bags?

They did not when I went so I'd say your safe😀

How much is it for the bottomless mimosas on Saturdays now 2022? I'm planning to go in October with about 14 people. What's the cover charge price?

Would love to take my two year old to a brunch. Just curious about the age restriction and if there are kid friendly shows .. if so what day is best recommended to go?

They no longer have the buffet so everything is off the menu. We had a small child with us, but she was older than 2. The entertainment is just lip-syncing, but the dress/attire is risqué.

Is there an age requirement for Sunday Brunch?

I went with a group of people and we had a 12 year old and a 16 year old with us, they just draw a X on there hands as to symbolize they can't be served. We had a great time but the content is definitely not appropriate, during my day there they had…

Are there age restrictions for the drag shows?

18 and up 21 to drink

Is there still drag brunch on Sundays?

Yes sir! You just gotta make reservations ahead of going so you have a spot to sit at.

Is proof of vax still a requirement?

No, proof of vax was not required when I went last month.

Is the cover fee cash only?

Yes, they have an atm on site, and there is a chase nearby.

Are there unlimited mimosas for brunch?

    Yes

Do they charge to get in along with the reservation? I was hoping for vip seating as well . I've been trying to call to get more info but the number listed does not answer

The show fee is $5 and VIP is an additional $5.. 562-436-7900

Do you need proof of vaccination and or negative test to enter for the drag show at night ? Also we are going for a friends birthday trying to see if there is VIP section and asking about pricing?

I had to show proof back in January 2022, however it was an event and everyone in line had to do it. YMMV. There's a few areas that are not in the main paths of people with views of the entire place. I've seen it with parties/events in those areas.

I see the weekend brunch is inside and out, with the main stage in, will they come out to perform?

No I didn't see them step out only saw them stay in

It's clear the owners put a lot of thought and creativity into making their cocktails the centerpiece of the experience. That said, the execution didn't live up to the concept. The menu appears to rotate regularly, and while the drinks were certainly unique, most of the cocktails we tried were hit or miss. At roughly $22 per drink, I expected more balance and refinement. One cocktail started with flavors reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, but after the initial sip, the combination of bitters and fruit syrups created an unpleasant cough syrup like finish. We tried a mocktail as well, and it was mostly ice and soda water, with what seemed like a collection of syrups doing most of the heavy lifting. The drinks were creative, but many of the flavor profiles felt disjointed rather than intentional. The biggest issue, however, was the bar service and sanitation practices. I watched a bartender place a cucumber garnish into a glass using his bare hands, touching the entire garnish in the process. He then continued to take credit cards, cash, and other items before stuffing ice into additional drinks with his bare hands. Whether or not this technically violates health code standards, it certainly wasn't appetizing to watch and left a poor impression. Parking is another challenge. There is no dedicated parking, and unless you get lucky, expect to park several blocks away and walk. Overall, the atmosphere is a lot of fun and the cocktail menu is ambitious, but the drinks didn't justify the price point, and the sanitation concerns were hard to overlook. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the cost and parking difficulties.

Most recent time we went was when they had a guest bartender (Polo Chang). Some of the best cocktails I've had recently. I'm a huge fan of tea in cocktail his menu was amazing. We got way more drinks than we usually do that night because each one was better than the last. Only thing tho I really wish they kept their old menu. We sat at the bar, and I expected to receive service from the bartender, but he didn't acknowledge us for the entire night. Instead, our server took our order. After a while, she informed us that the crispy rice we ordered was sold out. She mentioned that the bartender was supposed to let us know, but he never did. What made the experience more uncomfortable was that the bartender seemed to be giving most of his attention to the Caucasian customers on the other side of the bar. We were the only Asian customers there, and unfortunately, this left us feeling like we were being treated differently because of our race. The good food and drinks helped compensate for the poor service, so we decided not to let it ruin our evening. However, things got even more disappointing at the end. After I paid, I noticed that I had been charged for the crispy rice even though we never received it. When our server tried to address the issue, the bartender appeared to ignore both her and us, so we eventually left. I hope management sees this review and reaches out to me to address the overcharge and the overall experience. Overall, although the food and drinks were good, the service and the way we were treated left a very negative impression. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

The elevators are quite small and when everyone's trying to get to the rooftop bar, it can feel like you're waiting at a club just to get into the elevator. The bartenders are really cool and on weekends they have a DJ. No one really dances but it's nice to have the vibe. Definitely one of my favorite places in Long Beach right now.

My cousins and I got there around 9 p.m. on a Friday. It was steady, but when we went up for our first drinks the bar itself wasn't very busy--there were maybe two people in front of us and two behind us. I mention this because it matters for context. My cousin ordered two drinks, one for him and one for his girlfriend. We were talking and at some point I looked at his girlfriend's drink, which was already about halfway empty, and noticed a fairly large crack running across one side of the glass, right above where the remainder of her drink was. I said, "Hey, your glass has a significant crack in it," and she laughed it off and said she noticed and was just drinking from the other side. I told her she absolutely should not do that because there was already a chip near the rim and there could potentially be tiny pieces of glass in the drink. I also told her we needed to bring it to the bartender's attention because that's a legitimate safety issue. Someone who isn't paying attention could cut their lip or potentially ingest glass. By the time we went back up to the bar, it had gotten quite a bit busier. We explained what happened to the bartender and he asked if we got the drink there. We said yes and pointed out the female bartender who had originally served us. He asked what the drink was, walked away, served a few other people, and eventually brought us a replacement. We were completely patient. We understood that the bar was busier at this point, we weren't rude, and we weren't upset about having to wait. What bothered me was when he handed us the replacement and said, "Next time you need to let us know when it happens." That response really rubbed me the wrong way. It's not the customer's responsibility to inspect a glass before drinking from it, and obviously we would have said something sooner if we had noticed it sooner. Considering the bar wasn't particularly busy when the drink was originally made, I was also surprised that a crack that significant wasn't noticed before the glass was served. I did take a photo of the bartender afterward because I wanted to make sure I could identify the person involved when I brought the interaction to management's attention. I spoke with the person who identified himself as the manager and explained what happened. He said he would speak with the bartender, but the response also felt somewhat dismissive given that my concern was ultimately about customer safety and how the situation was handled. Accidents happen and glasses crack. Had the drink simply been replaced and the concern acknowledged appropriately, I honestly probably wouldn't be writing this review. It was the combination of being served a visibly cracked glass, being told that we should have notified them sooner, and then feeling like the concern wasn't taken particularly seriously when I brought it to management that ultimately prompted me to leave an honest review. Beautiful property and amazing view, but the way this situation was handled definitely left a bad impression.

My friend's lychee negroni was very interesting, had a sweet start with a crazy punch of an aftertaste. All the appys were tasty! My friends' favorite is the 5 sauce fries. My personal faves were the shu mai and popcorn chicken. We also got har gao and both pan-fried and steamed pork dumplings. It's a super small space (very intimate and cozy) so definitely make reservations ahead of time. We showed up very late our resy but thankfully our table was still available when we got there! I tried reaching them over the phone multiple times to let them know we would be late but it's impossible to reach them, so that's the only thing I would suggest for improvement. There's also a tiki bar (called Lagoon) within Midnight Oil that I want to check out next time.

We stopped by late Saturday night and were able to snag an immediate walk-in at the bar at Hao Peng You, which is the intimate speakeasy portion of Midnight Oil. The decor definitely reminded me of my grandparents' house in Taiwan, with vintage, ornate wooden chairs, dragon/lion statue carvings, and even a historic century old marital bed that had been repurposed into a booth. The drinks were also VERY unique, with my favorite being Hua sheng (literally meaning peanut), which was crafted from a nostalgic childhood peanut milk drink. All our cocktails were crafted very well, to the point where I thought they were a bit on the lighter side since I couldn't really taste the alcohol. This section does get really busy though and only had one bartender who is making/serving drinks and taking orders, so do expect a bit of a wait. Overall, highly recommend checking out this vibey vintage Taiwanese-inspired speakeasy (that my inner history nerd was so excited about), and I'll definitely be back to try their food items as well as their two other bar/restaurant concepts!

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and seated in a comfortable booth with a great vibe. Our server, Veronica, provided exceptional service and made sure everything felt effortless and special. The food was outstanding we had the Pollito con Mole Oaxaqueño and Salmon al Pastor, and both were beautifully presented and full of flavor. To top off a great meal, the team surprised us with a thoughtful birthday dessert. The cake was absolutely delicious and the perfect ending to her night. It's those extra touches and genuine hospitality that really make a place stand out. Thank you to Veronica and the entire Viaje team for making our evening so memorable. We'll definitely be back!

My Waiter was knowledgeable of the menu. I'm impressed. Pacing is slower here like any other fine restaurants. We sat straddling the patio and indoor dining area and lighting was dim inside. It's very romantic and chic if you want to impress your date. Our red snapper ceviche was fresh! You're supposed to stir everything before digging in. I was not aware of this until our Waiter instructed us to do so so, thank you for letting us know! I was not a fan of the Camarones appetizer. I don't know if maybe I don't have an acquired taste for the adobo seasoning... It stunk of fish sauce as soon as our Waiter set it down and tasted mediocre to me... My fish was AMAZING! My leftovers tasted even better the next day when I wasn't so full off the appetizer! Victoria beer came out delicious until I squeezed a lime wedge (for whatever reason it turned the beer bitter instead of crisp ‍). I was not a fan of the Horchata either. They used artificial cinnamon syrup instead of real cinnamon and I hate the flavor of artificial cinnamon! Thank you for the complimentary tres leches cake even though it was not my birthday. I had informed our Waiter that it was my birthday month and if that counted when he had asked if we were celebrating any occasion. I appreciate your team going above! Thank you all for a nice evening. I definitely will return to try other items.

Honestly thought it was the bar that we came inside. First impression, why did we need reservations.... Since we didn't know the hidden entrance. Well, it's a cool concept once we entered. There's a dress code so be advised. What I found out was the entrance of the speakeasy was through a phone booth that next to the pool table of Roxanne's bar. Once reservations is made, you'll received an email with a password to enter. Enter phone booth and to connect to the inside and they'll open the door for you. We had the first reservations I believe they opened at 7pm. We were the first group to arrive. As it was my first time, we had ordered bar food and were waiting for it inside the main bar. So half an hour was used from our time limit. The speakeasy, dark and moody but perfect for the place. Special crafted cocktails by the bartenders which were great. They also have food as well, found out later. We did try the meat pie, which it was just ok. Basically an empanadas, the pickle veggies accompanied it was my favorite. It was good but nothing major to rave about. The drinks were quite nice and tasty. What they offered on the menu did have a load of good choices. Tables scattered throughout as well as bar seating. There's a piano which maybe used for live music. Overall, the moody speakeasy vibe was great. Friendly staff and bartender made some great drinks. What we had to snack on, the meat pie was just ok. They're very strict with the time limits. Once it's reached they'll let you know.

So this is a review that's been a *long* time coming (I've just been chronically overwhelmed for an…read moreequally long time.) I haven't been here often, but I *was* here right around when they opened, wherein I determined that the food ranged from quality but a bit overpriced, to just overpriced, a feeling I would still hold, generally speaking. Great vibe, solid service, but maybe a little pretentiously priced (and/or it's just stupid expensive to run a restaurant in this area, granted.) And with *super* pretentiously-priced cocktails, for how relatively simple they mostly are (if I'm gonna spend $18+ plus tip on a drink, I expect Baby Gee-level cocktails.) They also had an impressive wall of craft beer on tap, but also a bit pricey, especially compared to places not on 2nd street, so there was never a particular *draw*. But then I never actually finished reviewing it, because I'm super behind. Anyway, then also not particularly recently, they launched a happy hour, which at the time, especially for this particular part of Long Beach, was pretty stupidly good, with $5 decent sized smashburgers (6 with cheese, 10 with cheese and also fries), as well as $5 craft beer, pretty much all of them, including the fancy, exciting stuff (exciting if you're a nerd like me, the barrel aged stuff, for instance). They also had one specific half hour at the time, which I'd like to immortalize as a super fun idea, where one specific cheap but craft beer was some stupid price, I think like a dollar, but since they had a whole wall of rotating craft beer, a *different* specific cheap craft beer any given day. That's not relevant at all to my current review, but it was fun. Anyway, I still didn't write a review like a year ago when I took advantage of that happy hour, though I did take advantage of it a solid couple of times. Skip forward again to just a few weeks ago, I happened to be attending an event in the general area again, an event that was going to involve more alcohol than food and for which having a happy-hour-timed dinner in the area was going to be useful, so I figured I'd check out whether the happy hour was still there, and it was. At least as of a few weeks ago, the happy hour (3-6 weekdays) was still a thing, and it had gone up a whopping 55 cents per item. Ends up being effectively ~$17 plus tip for a quality smashburger, quality fries and a craft beer, though they didn't have as *many* of the fancy (barrel-aged or equivalent) stuff as they had the first time, they did still have some, and it was still $5.55 for any beer on draft they had. So happy hour wise, that's a pretty good price for this part of the country, I'd say. Obviously only since the burgers and fries *are* also absolutely quality burgers and fries. Not quite as wonderful as my gold standard smashburger at The Stache, perhaps, but still a great smashburger. My opinion on spending almost 20 bucks for what is effectively still just an old fashioned, hasn't changed, though. :p
