It pains me to knock down a long-standing LGBT establishment, but if it's blatantly ripping off the very LGBT community it claims to serve, then that criticism is well deserved. Well all paid for VIP seating for the Drag brunch in advance. Once we arrived, we did have to wait in line, but luckily it went by pretty quick. We got seated in an upper floor... Huh? This certainly didn't feel like VIP seating. After talking to the staff, they acknowledged we were seated incorrectly and moved us to the VIP table. That's ok, everyone can make mistakes right? Well the alleged "VIP table" had an equally subpar view, several rows of separation from the stage. What is the point of "VIP? Cash grab? **STRIKE 1**. Then we looked through the menus. $25 for burgers - that's steep, but nothing mindboggling. Alright on to the cocktails...where are the prices? They have these decorative shoe glasses for drinks, but those were $36. Surely, there are alternatives, right? WRONG. You don't have to get the damn shoe, but the mixed drink will still cost you $36. And the size is comparable to a $15-something drink at Cheesecake Factory. Insane. **STRIKE 2** The waiter took our initial water order as we ruminated over the ghastly prices. We eventually settled on something but the waiter was nowhere to be found. Nobody checked on us for 30 minutes... 45 minutes... After nearly an hour, I was done. I wanted to leave. **STRIKE 3** We talked to the staff about our dissatisfaction and asked for a refund. They were actually very gracious about it. JENNIFER, the manager, agreed to the refund and CHRIS took down our info. Lo and behold, it's been 10+ days, and still no refund. **STRIKE 4, and counting** Between the misleading VIP seating, overpriced drinks with undisclosed prices, hour-long service delays, and an unfulfilled refund promise, the experience felt more focused on extracting money than providing good hospitality. There are so many better options for Drag shows/brunches, LGBT venues, etc. Hamburger Mary's needs a complete overhaul. read more

First time visiting Hamburger Mary's this past weekend because we made a private table reservation for a gf's bachelorette! We had so much fun celebrating her, and I honestly wish we stayed for dancing afterwards because gay bars are the best bars. She got so much interaction from the performers (probably the most compared to others, lol), and I really appreciated it. The staff were really friendly and the queens were on their A-game. The only areas for improvement were probably turning down the AC a bit because we were freezing, but maybe I'll just layer up next time because there's no doubt in my mind that the performers are sweating and need the AC more than I do. This is your public notice to pack a jacket if you're coming for an evening drag show!!!! Parking was super impacted due to Apocalypse (EDM festival) happening next door at the Queen Mary, but that's out of the venue's control and we were one of the lucky ones to secure parking in the structure earlier in the evening. The food quality also left a lot to be desired, so I would probably eat ahead of the showtime in the future. Something I really appreciated was that they offered to make change and provide cash-back for folks that didn't get a chance to grab cash ahead of time. There is a service fee if you use card to get bills, but it's lower than what you'd pay at the ATM. I think the fee was $2.00 per cash-back transaction, but the venue can chime in to advise if I've misspoken. Thank you again for making our bride's celebration so special! We came on a Thursday night for a drag show and there was a pretty good crowd. It's an easy location to find in a good area downtown and since it wasn't a weekend, parking was no issue. The show itself was very fun. Bring cash so you can request singles to tip the ladies. Drinks are strong and if you request a "shoe" then you can bring it back to any of their locations and get 50% off drinks your next visit. Not a bad deal. Menu isn't huge, but the food was good. Burgers and fries are hard to mess up. read more

My friends and I visited Hamburger Mary's to celebrate our 49-year friendship, and unfortunately, the experience didn't match the occasion. For a venue that clearly draws large crowds and sells tickets in advance, we expected a more organized and professional level of service. There were only two bartenders handling a packed bar, making drinks one at a time while also trying to support wait staff. The result was long waits and visible strain on the team. It also seemed like there weren't enough servers or kitchen staff to keep up with the volume. It took quite a while just to have our order taken--and significantly longer for the food to arrive. When it finally did, two of our four meals were incorrect, and one didn't come out until the rest of us were nearly finished eating. While we understand that busy shows can be challenging, advance ticket sales should give management a clear idea of how to properly staff each show. We also felt it was inappropriate for our server to attribute order mistakes to hearing difficulties, especially when it impacted accuracy and the overall experience. We came to celebrate a meaningful milestone together, and it was disappointing that service issues overshadowed what should have been a special brunch. Yesterday when visiting Long Beach celebrating my bday. I had a great time, the drag show was amazing. What was disappointing was the guy checking ID's and giving wristband. Some of my table was their first time and was asking questions and he was rude. Another guest stopped and questioned him if that was the line to get in for VIp and he stated " if you reserved a table don't worry is not going to grow a leg and walk away". That was unnecessary comment. Another guest questioned, do you need to be 21 to go In, again the worker stated " you just need to be born" he was very rude answering questions. I don't know his name but he was short and bald with mustache. I hope management can do something about this. He needs to know his the front of the line and representing the place and being rude and disrespectful does not make people want to return. read more

If you're looking for a low key, quiet meal... this is not your spot, lol. This was my first time at Hamburger Mary's, I went with friends for the Saturday brunch show. It is so much fun. It feels like a full blown party. Loud, chaotic, and definitely not PG rated. I was super impressed with the performers. I was immediately drawn in and cheering the whole time. The Queens are hilarious and clearly having a blast. They also do a great job of giving every table plenty of attention. I went for the show and wasn't expecting much from the food, and I was totally fine with that. But the burger and fries were actually really good. Also, get the stripper boot cup with the bottomless mimosa. Just commit to the experience. Go for a birthday, a bachelorette, a team outing, a Friday night, or just to celebrate being alive. WOOOOOW...This was my very first drag brunch and I am so glad my group and I went with HMLB! In order to get tickets my group and I went online to secure our seat; we got VIP to secure good seating and I am glad we did (loved the Brunchettes)!! The area is such a cute downtown area with lots of surrounding shops that you can walk around and enjoy. Our tickets instructed us to arrive at 12:45pm but we didn't enter the restaurant until 1:10pm since there was only one server (he did amazing). With the experience, the "wait" was forgotten! Once the performance started my jaw was on the floor the entire time. Prepare your cash for the performers if you plan on coming because they go all out to prepare for the show and their appearances. So much fun! It was one of those nights when neither my husband nor I really wanted to go out, but we already had the reservation and we decided to just do it. I'm so glad we did! The server took our drink order right away since we were the first party to be seated. As the place filled up, we decided to place our food order before our server got too busy. She was extremely friendly, helpful, and efficient, even though she had a large area to serve. The drag show was so much fun! We didn't know that it was a drag competition that night. The energy in the room was electric and the audience was fully engaged. We were just going to leave after we saw a particular act, but then decided to stay until the very end. Seems to have dropped off over the years. Don't make a reservation online! You end up paying for tickets on the site and then you'll be charged again at the door. The food is mid especially for how expensive it is. Totally overpriced. Also, they don't have draft beer and the canned beer they do serve is skunked. The place seems to be falling apart too. I've been here twice since my first/last visit and each time it's been great. The staff are all hard working and super nice. We were working the 50th Birthday Party for Delta Work and I saw the staff hustling and cranking out orders to the sold out crowd. Jenny was super nice and answered any questions we had and one of the other servers with the green hair was really helpful and let us know everything on the menu is good but not so much the chicken tenders. We parked at the structure behind the venue and were there from 5 pm until almost 1 am and paid $12 total. The structure only takes card, it does not accept cash, Apple Pay or Google...wallet? Jewels was seriously such a great host and very kind and made us feel like we were family. Hamburger Mary's LB is a vibe. If you're able to catch one of the famous queens or not so famous queens, just do it because it's always a fun time. read more

We decided to return to give Sunday Drag brunch another try. BIG MISTAKE. PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE GOING. The service WILL be terrible. You would think that hosting 3 shows Saturday and Sunday that they would have a grip on how to run it but we were very wrong. We booked the 12:45 Show and were 7 in total with VIP tickets and floor seating, the idea is that you're seated for an hour then the show starts at 2PM and ends at 3PM for the next batch that starts at 3:30. WRONG! We were outside in the sun waiting for almost an hour, we arrived around 12:30PM, to enter the building for the 12:45PM show. Once we were inside around 1:30PM our waitress came to take our order around 1:45PM. We already came in with low expectations so we were ready to place our drink order and food order, however the waitress said she could only take our drink order first. We all ordered bottomless mimosas, 2PM came and guess what, the show started, and we had no drink and no food ordered. Come 2:30PM and the third act already performing, still no drinks and no food ordered. At this point we made the dramatic decision to exit the establishment. The lack of service and lack of attention from management and the servers hurt the business and the performers. We were ready to tip, drink, and have fun. Instead we left angry, disappointed and with over $100 in singles that were given to the waiter and musical performers at The Ordinaire. We will never return to Hamburger Mary's and sad that its the only place offering a drag brunch in Long Beach. read more

I have never been so happy to be gay than when I get a chance to come here. Their bottomless mimosas is so worth it and they refill them quick. My friend and I spontaneously stopped by Hamburger Mary's as we were looking to bar-hop on Pine Ave. Upon arrival there was a cover fee of $20 per person. After showing our ID we entered and made our way to the bar. We ended up ordering a few drinks and the bartender also gave me one on the house. Needless to say, we definitely had a blast that night. Tipping for the performers is cash only, but no fret. If you didn't bring any cash bills, they have staff members with plenty and you can pay them for exchange. Although we did make a reservation, we still waited outside for about 30 min or so to start entering the venue. They were probably still clearing and setting up from the previous show, but all good. Came here for a drag show and was impressed with how quick and dedicated the servers here are. They were very much on top of everything and worked really hard. We ordered the onion rings with a Mary's Appletini and a Strawberry Margarita. The Appletini was the perfect mixture of sour and sweet flavors. Great service! read more

The drag queens were PHENOMENAL since the last time we went after Covid. The woman who did Selena songs was THE BOMB! So was Lezon...I think was her name from RuPauls drag race. There was also a performer who will be turning 65 SHE NEEDS TO BE ON BROADWAY!!! I hope when I'm at that stage I'm able to do all that. Only big issue was I was charged extra for choosing a Kobe burger, AND A Hawaiian burger AND for choosing tater tos AND my dark rum ginger beer was $25.00!!! WHAT IN THE WOOOOOORRLD!!?? I have NEVER been charged so much for ANY of those. THEY DID NOT WARN ME. And for the tots there was no note for the extra charge of the Hawaiian. That was really upsetting. Please be warned. We had bought VIP seating for a sold out show, a party of two, easy. when we got there they took us in and told us that we would be completely separated. WHAT?! When i protested that there's no way im sitting away from my partner the person got hostile and gave no solution but that I can talk to the manager if i dont like that. Thankfully the people who were at the table we're kind and overheard us and said they'd move down so we could be together. After we sat down they told us they were also separated from the rest of their party and the table next to us? SAME THING! how are you guys getting these reservations with fixed tables and still not seating folks together? I'm local, queer, and have been to this location several times in recent years. Only a couple of years ago, seeing a show here was a decent experience (good show, mediocre service). Today was the worst service (really non-service) I've ever experienced at a restaurant or bar anywhere. Our party was seated at 1, the show was set for 1:45 but started around 2:15, and we had only drink orders taken the entire time (one beer, one cocktail, juice, and two waters). By 2:30, I attempted to check in with the server to get a food order in, but he completely ignored me and rushed to complete refill drink orders, etc. The show was over by 3:20ish, and we still didn't have a food order in. So the server just decided to ignore our table to improve service and tips at other tables. I understand that servers prefer to focus more time on tables with heavier drink orders to maximize tips, but to completely disregard our table (and also not bring any water btw) was shitty. I have breast cancer and couldn't consume alcohol, and another member of our party is a breast cancer survivor and rarely drinks for the same health reasons. So I suppose if you aren't a heavy drinker or willing to pay for VIP, don't expect to have table service here. read more

Great food every time with big portions, which is good because they aren't the cheapest but not crazy expensive. The drinks are good size pour of alcohol so you don't have to worry about not feeling the drink. The entertainment varies on the night of course but I love supporting local drag artists from around Long Beach, LA, and Orange county. Service is good, sometimes you might have to wait a minute before getting items or drinks because they do have to work around the live performances and get many other tables but nothing unreasonable. Aside from the performance, the food was mediocre at best. I had ordered/asked for my drink twice but it never came (just had to make sure it wasn't charged at the end). The waiter brought a couple rounds of drinks for my friends but didn't even care to ask me if I needed anything.
