Small speakeasy hidden in an alley. The food was actually very good and memorable. The Oysters were one of my fav Kumamotos, fresh and flavorful but they could've been rinsed a bit better. Pork Buns were a good tasty bite, and the sushi was surprisingly really really good. Cool place to check out for some small bites and cocktails!

We saw this place nearby and wanted to try it out for a while and finally got to last week! It's like a little hidden speakeasy behind another restaurant and you can only see it from the little "TOKYO NOIR [in Japanese]" lantern above the door that you need to hit a button at , then wait for a server to help you out. We had a reservation but it does seem possible to get in without one... but it will be a long wait if you are more than one or two people. It's very small and cozy, with some couples seating along the back, bar seating, and two corners for larger parties of 4 or 8+. The food, drinks, and menu are all super creative. At some point maybe want to try a bit of everything! I personally had the Freak On A Leash since it had the most flavors I really wanted to try, but maybe will want to try their savory cocktails next time. My friends got the Astro Boy, Old Fashioned, and First Love. We shared a little bit of all of them and they were top tier! Okonomiyaki Corn Dogs were our snack for the night and those were delicious. I thought I tasted a Kurobuta sausage perhaps! We may come back again one day with a larger party to experience this but it definitely did not disappoint. Excited to see how the menu evolves this and next season. One note too, we wanted to try their M+M Gummies but we were told they are still perfecting the texture so they did not have them yet.

Moody, vibey Japanese speakeasy with delicious drinks that play bangers all night. Located on the side alleyway street next to El Barrio Cantina that is signaled by a hanging red paper lantern. Reservations are highly recommended for late weekends, but we have been able to walk up during the week. There is bar seating, low tables with couches, and high tables - any spot is a great spot and you can see the bartenders working their magic of cutting up ice, a little bar flair. The drinks I get most often: First love - delicious fluffy shaved ice that feels more like a refreshing summer dessert than alcoholic drink, juice theory - savory and umami, strawberry yuzu - sweet, strong, smokey. Food I get most often: Okonomi corn dogs and wasabi fries - the fries are the perfect bar snack. On some nights, bartender says we can request songs to be played (Seatbelts - Tank! has been our most often requested) Street parking or mini parking lot across the street. Shares the space with El Barrio Cantina. Highly recommend for date night, small gatherings (about 4 people), small bites and A+ cocktails.

So, my brother and I made a reservation at Tokyo Noir which just happened to be on the very night the Dodgers won the World Series . We hadn't seen each other in half a year--life had been heavy since the recent passing of husband ,but that night gave us room to breathe and connect We tried the corndogs that somehow hit the soul, and the drinks? My brother's was part drink, part ramen- flavor adventure. We laughed, we reminisced, and we got to watch ice-shaving bartenders like they were creating art! I'd go back with him in a heartbeat. I ended the night by Pouring some liquor out for my husband .. jon, you would have loved this place.

I booked a reservation on open table and it was smooth. Once I arrived I wasn't sure where this place was exactly. I ended finding myself asking the host from El Barrio Cantina and she guided us to the right entrance. Once we located the entrance on the left side of the building through the alley and saw the red lantern. We saw a few people waiting and we were 3 min late but we were told by other people the host comes out every so often. The host came and greeted us and sat us on the bar. She later handed me the menu and it was so cool - like a comic book! I did order the yuzu strawberry but it was no longer available for the night and went with the it's MG. The person making the drinks recommended the Astro boy drink and it seemed popular everyone was ordering it. I will try it next time. I had a great time and can't wait to come try it.

The hubby made reservations for a Wednesday night at 930pm. Parking around that time was rough!! lol we circled around for about 10-15 min for a space until we found a couple leaving about 2 blocks down. This place is tucked in an alley way and pretty easy to find thankfully! It's a small spot but very intimate. Our server gave us some time as we looked at the menu. I ordered the Astro boy and the hubby ordered the Hibiki old fashioned. We loved seeing the bartender carve the ice by hand. They played hip hop music which is always a vibe! We didn't order food but from what we saw it looked good. The bathroom is shared with the restaurant next to it. Me and the hubby plan on going back to try the next seasonal drinks and maybe some of the food!!

Drinks 10/10 Vibes 10/10 Food 6/10 This place lives up to expectations. The dopest speakeasy decorated hella fly with banging music. Perfect place for a date night. Reservations open 2 weeks in advance! Must reserve ahead of time no drop ins. Recommendations from their Winter 2025 Menu: - Astro Boy - Initial B -Okinawa Gimlet -Yari Mango For food do not skip out on the Charred edamame. I'd personally skip the wagyu skirt cause it was way too chewy. The service can be a little slow but they be packed so understandable. The food & drinks still come out relatively fast tho!

Absolute banger! Location: The bar itself is tucked away on a side street, if you've ever been to Long Beach you know how parking goes. For those unfamiliar, you'll be able to find a spot near, just drive up or around the block. There are plenty of walkable restaurants, and such in the area it's a well placed gem. Customer service: The staff here is excellent. Once you're invited in, and take your cozy seat (this place is very small...adds to the charm) you can sit, and realx for a second before being approached. When you are seemingly ready, your menus will be presented with all the options for the day. I really appreciate the tailored service, it's not a robotic welcome greeting, and a rush of usual menu items. This is different. Food/drinks: Like I mentioned before, you're not getting the same ole thing like every other bar. The drink menu evolves over time. I've seen different items on a bi-monthly basis. Not everything changes, and it shouldn't. There are some staples I couldn't imagine going away. The Astro Boy for example, is such an incredibly crafted drink. It's sweet, but the citrus is prevalent. It's got a great froth texture to the drink itself, topped off with a lil Astro boy so you don't forget what you're sipping on. From a "non-vodka" drinker, this is magic. The food does not lag behind. I had a perfectly medium seared beef tapas. Later I tried the wasabi fries, loved the fries...still don't like wasabi. But I was trying something new. Overall the food was excellent, it came out fresh and well flavored. Tokyo Noir has never let me down, and I recommend anyone interested in traditional Japanese crafted drinks, and general vibes to check this place out. Pro tip: Reservation! Get one. The venue is pretty small, which adds to the allure. Just play it safe, and make a reservation.

Tokyo Noir has great craft cocktails, great service, and great vibes. Unexpected find in the LBC - a Japanese speakeasy with inventive cocktails featuring ice flown in from Japan. My favorite is the kakigori, which is like a delicious and refreshing shaved ice dessert. Another favorite of mine is Astroboy - a must try in my opinion. It's a nice spot for a date or night out, and I find it on my rotation of bars to take my friends to when they visit!

I can't believe I haven't written a review for Tokyo Noir yet. Although it's long overdue, it's definitely a spot I would recommend for those looking for well crafted tasty cocktails. The bar team behind this spot is cranking out some amazing drinks. I'd definitely recommend making a reservation ahead on OpenTable as the space is small and it can get busy. Parking here can be tough as there's no dedicated lot and Long Beach parking in this area sucks. Tokyo Noir is hidden in the alleyway behind El Barrio Cantina. They have a small food menu but make sure to come earlier if you want to eat as they close their kitchen earlier relative to their closing time. As for the drinks, they're all fun and unique. There's something for everyone and I love they're bringing a bit of Japanese bar culture to California. You can watch them chip away at ice bricks to make spheres of ice for their old fashioned. They also have a Japanese kakigori machine to make shaved ice for a cocktail. It's definitely a spot I'd recommend for cocktail lovers!

Came here the other night for some drinks and ended up staying for dinner. At first I wanted to go else where for food but glad I gave the food here a chance. We ordered a couple of drinks I ordered the Mezcal High all and my partner ordered the Kaiju. I enjoyed my drink very smooth and refreshing my partner wasn't feeling her drink. It wasn't bad just not what she was expecting. When it came to food we put in an order for 2 orders of the sticky rice, a dragon roll and spicy tuna roll. Service was smooth and attentive which makes sense since it's a small intimate place. Ambience was cool decore was very simple but nice with the theme. Would we come back here... Absolutely it's close by, drinks are good and food is great. Makes it a winning combination.

Hands down my favorite bar in Long Beach. The creativity in the drinks and the precisness that you would need to make these flavor profiles work is something else. If you're open minded about your drinks and appreciate good craftsmanship when it comes to mixology, this is your spot. So as most people now know, you book online 2 weeks out. Compared to when it first opened, it's much easier to find reservations so we were finally able to check it out without staying up past midnight to book it. If you uber there, you get dropped off in front of a Mexican restaurant and you go down this alley along the side. You go up to the door and press the "on" button to the right and you get brought in, speakeasy style. The spot is dark, elegant and simple. Maybe 8-10 spots along the L-shaped bar and maybe 4 separate tables. Not a great place for a big group, maybe 4 people max. The menu will blow you away. The flavor profiles and ingredients they use defy logic. Sea urchin foam? Soba broth? A shaved ice drink? It's wild but it all works. I started with the soba drink. It had shaved daikon on top which is a bitter vegetable root commonly eaten with soba. It was like drinking soba broth and it was pretty good. I switched to somethibg sweeter with the castella banana drink (sorry don't remember the name) which was delicious. Not too sweet and the flavors were well balanced. I finished with the ichiro old fashioned. A strong drink but an excellent old fashioned that had some interesting flavors. We also got food - the bao buns, corn dogs, salmon roll, and the wagyu roll which was our favorite. Slightly spicy, excellent flavors. Loved it. The only bummer is they limit your time to 90 minutes. I get why but it would be nice if you could enjoy your drinks and hang longer. But otherwise, great service, even better drinks. Definitely amazing.

The menu had such a wide variety of Japanese cuisine, from sushi, to katsu, to donburi, there's something for everyone! Loved the modern clean vibes of the interior. They start you off with complimentary miso soup, which was full and rich (a bit salty for my liking but that's just me). We also ordered a plate of nigiri as our appetizer, and the fish quality was really fresh. I ordered the chicken katsu plate for myself, and my was it delicious. I've never tasted katsu so light even though it's typically fried, and love the sauce they paired the katsu with. It was almost like a mustard? But it wasn't too overpowering or anything. We finished the night with the tempura ice cream, and let me tell you, this is a MUST. I honestly just expected them to throw some panko on top of a scoop of ice cream, but Te-Buru's take is (somehow) baking a tempura crust right onto a giant scoop of ice cream and then cutting up the scoop into wedges. The ice cream surprisingly did not melt all that quickly either, and the matcha flavor was on point. Our servers were quick to meet our requests, nothing super outstanding but made the meal pretty seamless. Prices I think were pretty standard except for their sushi. Those are bit on the steeper side, but again, their fish quality is really good. For parking, they do have a small lot, but there's also street parking and parking in the neighborhood behind the restaurant. You'd be delulu not to try Te-Buru!

My boyfriend's brother did the ordering since he's been here a lot. He ordered: Peruvian Cebiche: which was the catch of the day, tiger milk, ahi Amarillo, concha, and sweet potato. It was so delicious! I believe the catch of the day was either scallop or white fish which was in the tiger milk and ahi Amarillo sauce which was a sour like sauce which pairs well with the fish. It was also a great dipping sauce for the other sushi we got. If I could, I would have slurped the whole thing (the sauce) lol. Blue Fin Sashimi: with kizami wasabi and special soy sauce. Sounded like an interesting twist. Both kinds of food are respectfully delicious in their own ways. For starters, we shared most of the appetizers, so we did the hamachi tostada. Super fresh and a nice flavorful bite. We also shared the jalapeño yellowtail and octopus fire. Both were really good but just a bit too much sauce. That's the only thing that separated the finish, aside from that, the fish was fresh. For sushi we did, salmon belly, blue fin tuna, and yellow tail belly. Def enjoyed these three pieces. Wife and I ordered blue crab hand roll, delicious. We were still hungry and ordered a couple of rolls. Nothing too spectacular, again a bit too much sauce in my opinion. Service was kinda slow here, ordered our foods, dropped off our foods, didn't really come back to check in. No refill on waters or drinks. Other than that, solid place. Would I come back? Maybe!

The tonkatsu was delicious! Great depth of flavor. They bring you garlic and spicy paste on the side. I had to add A LOT of spicy paste to get it up to the level I wanted, but while at other restaurants I've lost the broth flavor when adding too much spice, the spicy paste just enhanced the tonkatsu broth. And the pork in the tonkatsu - truly next level. This is probably the best pork I've ever had in a ramen dish. The noodles were also fantastic with the perfect amount of bite. Miso Soup was good, as well as a small included salad. As to which dressing is tastier between Ginger and Poppyseed Dressing, I still can't make up my mind. So, as usual, I applied each one to half of the salad. For my chosen entree Sukiyaki was fine--just not as hot as usual. And the portion was large enough to give some to my granddaughter and still have enough food remaining at dinner's end for a likeable lunch the next day. Koi will continue to be my favorite go-to restaurant for non-teppan Japanese cuisine.

I recommend sitting at the bar close to the chefs. Some of our favorite sushi orders are the spider roll, yellowtail jalapeño with ponzu, and anything with tuna. Some of our hot dish favorites are the grilled sake kasu black cod and the kaku ni. You would be missing out by not stopping here. Can't recommend it enough!

This was the second chance I gave this place but after today realized I don't want to come back…read more The good parts were the octopus balls. I had those the first time I came and they were delicious the furikake fries were good. Just needed a tiny bit of salt and it would've made them pop a little more. The ramen however...... ouch. The noodles are amazing! Very delicious and love the size and texture. The meat was like forgettable. Like didn't take like anything sadly. Now the broth. That was the most disappointing thing. I honestly thought something was wrong. Literally tasted like water. I remember coming here last time but I could only remember the octopus balls so I gave it a second chance and wow did I immediately remember why I don't come here. Honestly the broth was such a turnoff. The corn side had more flavor than the broth. The service also pissed me off. First like several tables were sat and ordered and our server didn't come to our table. Second we order waters and a beer. Then ordered the fries and the ramen. Tell me why the waters came last. Like I had to ask for them again. Next we got our ramen and it came with a regular tablespoon. Which I didn't want to make a huge deal out of, but honestly that spoon is only given upon request so to get it out right is weird, especially at a ramen restaurant. I noticed every table around us automatically got the renge. I had to ask for the renge. On top of that I had to ask a random server cause our visited our table once to deliver the water and that it's. We had to ask for our check and for a box and for the renge. Quite ridiculous enough for me to complain about it in a review. Literally go somewhere else it's not worth the 70$ when it tastes like water.
