A random night out led to a fun date night! Me and the hubby came here on a Thursday evening for a drink. We found a spot for parking a block down from the hotel. The lobby and entrance of the Fairmont Breakers hotel is beautiful and hoping one day we can do a staycation there. We found a spot in the corner outside to sit. The hubby ordered the Oaxacan old fashioned ($20) and I ordered the Penicillin #2 ($18). I'm not a big mezcal fan but I really enjoyed the drink. The views of Long Beach were beautiful from the roof. The only thing I didn't like was both bathrooms on the roof were closed and the closest one was all the way to the lobby area lol. There was music playing but the bartender told us to come back during the weekend for live music so we will definitely be back!

Halo is the rooftop bar on the 14th floor of the Fairmont Breakers Hotel in LBC. We stopped by here after dinner at The Skyroom one floor below. The bartenders are nice & friendly. The space is massive. We were wondering why there weren't so many people on a Thirsty Thu: We forgot it was Valentine's weekend. It was prolly packed on Sat, 2/14. I look forward to returning when the weather gets better.

Pros: location is awesome, nice deco, they play great music for a Saturday night - top 40 hip hop and r&b, casual crowd and great views with decent amount of seating. Cons: no food options, drinks are on the $$-$$$ mark, $12 valet ONLY option street parking is hard to find, and elevators are very small as the hotel is older (even with the remodel). Oh yes and bc it's valet only it's a long wait to get your car! With that being said, I still think it's a nice bar in DTLB to check out at least once. I would come back if I'm feeling spendy or in the mood for some views. It's a great place to hang out for a date or with some friends.

Did not eat but we did drink. Service was on point behind the bar. The bartender turned the drinks out quickly and it was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday night. Old fashioned was on point and the view was excellent. Seating was cozy and we enjoyed a small group gathering on a couch tucked out of the wind outside.

This bar is an absolute gem, in a stunning building with gorgeous architecture. The vibe is elegant yet relaxed, perfect for a 'classy' night out. The panoramic views are stunning on both sides. Drinks were delicious. The Lillet All Day was bright, refreshing, and easy to drink. But the star of the night was the Banana Bread Old Fashioned. Hands down, one of the best Old Fashioneds I've had, and I'm someone who passes on anything banana flavored (except actual banana bread). It was rich, warmly spiced, with just the right hint of banana that felt sophisticated. No sweetness overload, just pure balance. This bar is ideal for date nights or special celebrations. My husband and I were there on a Sunday night, and there were a lot or couples, it was cute to see. Already planning my next visit with friends.

Wow-- the views at golden hour are absolutely remarkable! This place has an upscale, trendy mid thirties vibe. We came for drinks around 5pm on a Saturday and the place was packed. They had three bartenders but were not nearly enough for the demand. We waited in line about 30 minutes to get a cocktail. I had Halos play on an old fashioned it was definitely strong but not worth the 30 minute wait. There is also minimal seating so it's definitely a spot to stand/ chat/ catch a view. I wish they played better music at the time as it was more instrumental. Otherwise cute spot for a night cap just be prepared to wait it out and stand.

After enjoying dinner downstairs at Sky Room (see my last review) we went up here to enjoy a cocktail and check out the view. It was nice up there. I bet it's so lovely during a warm summer night, and especially at sunset! The bartender made me a special cocktail. I just told him I prefer vodka and wanted something fruity. It was delightful and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

A rooftop bar at the Fairmont Breakers Hotel, and wow, what a vibe! Our server Jessica over at the Sky Room tipped us off to come up here, and I'm so glad she did. The space is gorgeous, elegant decor with that modern luxe feel, plus those panoramic views that stretch across the city and beyond. They got both indoor and outdoor seating, and I loved hanging out on the patio where the DJ sets up. Nothing beats sipping a cocktail under the open sky with the Long Beach skyline as your backdrop. Drinks were solid, bartenders super friendly, and the energy was just right, upscale but still laid back. Pro tip: head up around golden hour for the best views and photos. If you're visiting before sunset, don't forget shades or sunscreen, there's not much shade out there! Definitely a spot worth checking out if you're in Long Beach!

Rooftop bar with views from Hollywood to Catalina? Yes, please! If you're looking for a spot with stunning views, Halo, located at the Fairmont Breakers Hotel, is it. From the rooftop, you can soak in the sights all the way from Hollywood to Catalina -- it's absolutely breathtaking. Important to note: This is a cocktail-only bar. Perfect for after-work drinks or a nightcap, but if you're hoping to pair your drink with small bites, you'll want to grab food first or head to Alter Ego, located in the hotel lobby. My husband and I went on a Monday, and it was a nice, quiet vibe -- very relaxing. I've heard that on Fridays, a DJ brings a livelier energy, so I'm looking forward to coming back and checking that out.

I have very fond memories of the former lively Cielo Bar. However, they have transformed this space into an upscale lounge that I could get used to. Upon entering, I'm struck with an eclectic mix of marble, tiles, brass monkey tables, a spacious rooftop deck and tropical decor yet all the elements working together. The bar menu is minimal, only featuring about 5 specialty cocktails. My favorite is the Banana Bread Old Fashioned, which is $24. However, they have a full bar so they can make most cocktails. My friend asked for a Saladito, which the bartender was not familiar with, so he had difficulty making. It's just mezcal, lime, honey, salt and cayenne. They also have wine by the glass and beer on tap. Their hours of operation are only from 5-10pm due to limited staffing and management. Wish they stayed opened a bit later. On the weekends, a DJ plays house, funk, disco and whatever he's vibing. I liked the music and danced a bit with my friend, but it would be nice to see what looks like a perfect dance floor be utilized. Nettuno also sets up an al pastor taco stand on Sundays, which is pretty good, although I wish they had spicier salsa. As pretty as Halo is, something's missing or lacking, perhaps an established culture and a later closing time.

Halo is a special place and is set to be THE space of the summer. Located on the rooftop of the Breakers Hotel, you get one of the best views of downtown and the ocean. It's an upscale bar where you'll be well tended to by professionals. You can enjoy the indoor bar which is absolutely stunning, or get some fresh air and views at the outdoor bar. They can make you any drink you want and also have a small cocktail menu. For my first visit I tried the Banana Bread Old Fashioned ($24), which was fun for a first drink albeit a bit too sweet to stick with for the night. Each time I come here I end up spending about $100/pp so it's not a cheap night out but it is a great one. Weekend evenings feature a dj and just all around good vibes.

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Stunning rooftop bar with great views and good drinks. I used to come here before the remodel when it was called Cielo, and it was one of my favorite bars in town. Now it's all gussied up and calls itself Halo, and the new look is quite heavenly, befitting the rest of the hotel. I came here with a friend on a whim one weekday evening while we were on a beachside walk. We were wowed by the new look and expansion--they'd added another outdoor bar across the way. All the window seats inside were already taken so we decided to sit at the outside bar, which had dramatically veined pink stone countertops. We were a little peckish after our walk and were disappointed to learn that there was no food served at this bar, but it wasn't a dealbreaker. We decided to turn it into an a aperitif visit. I decided on their Banana Bread Old Fashioned (nice balance of flavors, not overly sweet--$24 as of this writing), and my friend had a glass of rosé. The prices definitely include a View Tax, but I didn't think it was outrageous, as the views were quite spectacular, as you might imagine. Our bartender was friendly, and cordially chatted with us about the drinks and decor. We sipped our drinks and watched the sun fade beyond the ocean--a perfect early spring Long Beach moment. Come Grand Prix and the summer this place will be a zoo, so it was great to be able to catch it in a quiet moment.

Loved the overall vibe, but there are some things to work on. Outside bartenders were great, attentive and personable. Whiskey selection is good, not a huge variety, but several strong makers. Tiles and marble counters are beautiful. Things to be addressed - Very hot sun outside, so notice in pics how people gather in shady areas. Walls are high, so only top area has great view, cocktail or standing tables for drinks and some shade on hot days would help create a better atmosphere. Valet was super reasonable - $10 and they were all really nice.

Incredible knowledge and ingredients but not snooty patootie. Super inclusive and fun, with cool popups and events happening all the time. It's a full bar so you can get any cocktail you would normally order if you're keeping it simple, or beer, wine, boilermakers, etc. There's a span of offerings and price points, so something for everyone. And this one time I was there alone with another, no other patrons just staff members walking around from time to time. We stole the moment to dance under the Long Beach sky, just the two of us as a famous Christina Perrio song gently wafted in the night breeze. At another separate time, I was at the Los Angeles County Fair with another. We rode the ferris wheel at such a time where our gondola stopped at the top just as the sun set. The moment was nothing but beautiful and life affirming because the sinking of the sun's light was like a real life video of nature happening in front of us, unburdened by static or data stall. We witnessed nature resting, and I feel, that it was a kin to a beauty falling into a gentle sleep. These two instances have a common factor: momentary bliss arrived to bless an experience because the environment supported discovery of unplanned joy. That is what I associate with the Wicked Wolf, and this time the joy arrived eventually because when my Mom and I arrived to their high tea on Mother's Day the experienced seem like it would land nowhere good. Truth be told, my mom and I arrived 15 minutes early and there was no host in the stand and the place was empty except for a foursome. The energy felt lacked luster. One or two minutes after, the bartender informed us that we were early and the host would come soon. We sat in an available sofa for two, a loveseat persay. This gave us an opportunity to admire the decor that transported us to a storybook forest where good fairies reside, not like swamp creatures and trolls with malevolent fangs and dragon green eyes. I especially loved the large roses in the ceiling. To set the stage, the black ceiling had vines hanging from it, and the few roses were pops of crimson red displayed above. These were wonderful accents to the central mural of the joint that invited the viewer within deeper into the fairy forest where a light shone on an unseen meadow. The place had the decorations and general environment to be a lavender fairy's lounge, but, it did not fully work as a team room. For instance, my mom and I were sat in another lover's couch. Initially, I did not want to sit here because we were given circular tray sets. So imagine being told to sit in a couch, and each of us would get a tv tray. So I was left to wonder if we were going to be served tea in Belle's living room or if were going to watch a flick as we ate pollo loco bowl? But then as I settled into the tranquility of the moment, saw more people come and find their seat or couch, and as the serviced picked-up I realized that this was high tea in a place that had taken disjointed beauty and tackied it together for a patched tea experience that worked well. It was like the experienced was blessed and allowed by the same spirit that brought forth Raggedy Ann. For instance, the pictures show these pretty violet petaled tea cups and matching plates. This pairing was dainty and perfect for a tea party happening under pink veils. But then the sugar cubes came in a hedgehog shaped holder which was just as precious as seeing a piglet in a carriage built for one. Then the cream carrier was in the shape of a milk carton. I wondered where the missing child portrait was? The pastry plate was in the shape of a tropical flower like the ones scattered all over Hawaii. It belonged in a beautiful lei. Each of these elements was cute in its own delicate and whimsical way but together they made an eclectic hodgepodge, not a coherent tea set. And in this asymmetry laid the glitter of their error. The host also brought these clip on dainty hats that were perfect touches for make believe tea party. He carried them around in their original packing, including the box they came in. Not exactly the tailor of the queen, offering hats to the villagers as a gift from her to them, but still the effort magnified the moment. The tea food was the worst stumble that Red took as she was being chased by the Wicked Wolf. To begin with the end analysis, the tea offerings in general were standard, and not bites fit for a princess and her wedding court. For instance, the cream cheese and cucumber sandwich was just that---- a cucumber and cream cheese sandwich. I detected no effort to make it more than that. The blueberry scone was solid, nothing to skip through a meadow about. But once you added the jam of the table to the scone it was much easier to enjoy. I also had a madeline that was fluffy in the center but could have been purchased maybe at Costco. I had a Macaron and same thing, delicious but I have had something similar before and I suspected that it did not come from a place afloat with Parisian affairs. The best part of the tiers was this puff like thing that had like a Concha texture and design at the top. It was a sweet filled bite that was fit for a man made of muffin.

Before you leave, you simply pay the valet in cash or card and they'll have your car right there before you can even blink. AMBIANCE Walk in and boom! A towering, beautifully decorated Christmas tree greets you like it's auditioning for a holiday movie. Check out my photos; the whole lobby whispers one word: sophisticated. Oooh, I love that tree! Hang a right, stroll to the end of the hall, and you'll find ALTER EGO, a dark, cozy lounge that feels like the perfect hideaway for a date where you actually want to hear each other talk. Live music starts at 7 PM, the bar closes at 10, and honestly... that's ideal for those of us over 50 who consider 10 PM the witching hour for pajamas. Rob Fontana was performing tonight, and his music was so good I found myself time‑traveling back to the good old days. Every song hit, Rob. Good job! SERVICE Our server, Nia, was a star. Attentive, sharp memory, and smooth service all the way through. Zero notes. FOOD The menu is small, so if you show up ravenous, pace yourself or plan to Uber home after a cocktail‑heavy evening. I'm allergic to cheese, so I had to double‑check ingredients, but the Mushroom Flatbread was outstanding, flavor was superb and the best part was they did not skimp on the mushrooms! A+ for that. I also tried the Prosciutto di Parma with melon, which is a strange combo for a California girl... but hey, I never said I wasn't a weirdo. Drinks are not my thing since I enjoy company without alcohol's help, so I can't help you with that. DATE‑WORTHY OR NOT? Absolutely. Alter Ego gets a double thumbs‑up from me and a strong recommendation for your next Silver Singles date. It's easy to find, the seating is comfortable (even for those of us with backs that like to complain), and they even offer tube pillows for extra support. Tell me that's not romance.

Overall, I'm so glad this is the place we chose to meet at! On a Wednesday night we were able to walk in and had no trouble getting a table for 4. The aesthetic is the standout feature of the place. The main bar is beautifully decorated and there are spacious booths to eat at as well. My favorite part was the two additional "secret" bar areas! While sitting in the main bar area you would have no idea there are additional rooms. Exploring the other rooms was a fun, unique part of the visit. The drinks were photo worthy as well as tasted great. The bar tender was attentive and adjusted my drink based on how much sweetness I like. The lychee margarita was my favorite because they light it up table side for a fun presentation! The food tasted great and was very affordable priced! Our group ordered multiple items and shared them family style, which seems to be a common approach here. The shrimp fried rice was delicious and my favorite food item. One order was plenty to share between 4 people. Per our server's request, we also tried the cucumber salad which was really refreshing and a great side. I tried the popcorn chicken but honestly they packed a kick and were too spicy for me, so be warned. In sum, the service, food, drinks, and ambiance were great and I will definitely be back!

Service was decent, didn't get quite as much attention as I would have ordered more food had someone stopped by faster. It's a really small location so it's a little bizarre that service is a bit on the slow side. That said, everything else was fantastic so it's a small sin as such things go. Overwhelmingly recommend this place, just maybe order a lot up-front so you don't end up waiting around for more. It also has 2 speakeasys attached to the "main" restaraunt, but book early as those spots are even harder to get into.

False Advertising and Total Failure of a "Speakeasy"…read more This place should not call itself a speakeasy. According to their website, they are strict about dress code, reservations, and no large parties. None of that was enforced. People arrived wearing sports clothes, tennis shoes, and flip-flops, and a group of more than 10 people was allowed in. That group was loud, drunk, and screaming, completely destroying any speakeasy ambiance. We had a reservation booked one week in advance for 2 tables of six, yet by 8:30 pm, we were told no food was available, despite the bar being almost empty. The water was already on the table when we arrived and tasted strongly of chlorine, with no ice. The waitress was clearly new, untrained, and unprepared. She did not know the menu, didn't know how to take an order properly, and provided no guidance whatsoever. There was one bartender Ricardo, who took over an hour to prepare cocktails and showed no sense of urgency or care. The dramatic cocktail descriptions sounded impressive, but the drinks did not match the descriptions at all. Because of the delays, we were never even able to properly toast or celebrate our friend. The charcuterie board took forever and arrived with an absurd amount of cheese and only six pieces of bread. To make things worse, part of the food we ordered never arrived at all. The live jazz band advertised and promised never showed up. When asked, the staff responded with: "I don't know, they were supposed to be here. I don't have their phone number." That level of disorganization is unacceptable. At the end of the night, we were shocked to receive a check close to $600 for two tables, despite each person only having one cocktail and shared food. The bartender, Ricardo, approached us and said: "Well, sorry, we really tried tonight! It wasn't the best, but we tried." Honestly, that comment made the experience even more frustrating. I can't imagine how bad it would have been if they hadn't "tried."That statement perfectly summarizes the problem -- trying is not enough when everything fails. I would not recommend this place for a speakeasy experience. This is not a speakeasy. It's a poorly run bar hiding behind a concept it does not deliver. Do not recommend.

I give it a 1 because 0 was not an option. Absolute disaster. Avoid this place at all costs. What…read morewas supposed to be a classy night celebrating a 50th birthday turned into a complete nightmare. This is not a speakeasy, it's a tiny, rundown bar pretending to be something it's not. The staff was inexperienced, dismissive, and unprofessional. Drinks were outrageously overpriced and took forever to arrive. The food was a joke, a $60 charcuterie board made up of cheap grocery store cheese, ham, and crackers that didn't come close to justifying the price. We were served warm water that tasted like chlorine, and the response from staff was literally "I don't know, I just work here." At one point both waitresses vanished, leaving the bartender overwhelmed and everything grinding to a halt. The live jazz band they advertise never showed up, and staff had no explanation or contact info. The so-called dress code was completely ignored, with groups in jeans and sneakers flooding in, turning the place loud, chaotic, and classless. This place delivers nothing it promises. It's not a speakeasy, it's a poorly run bar that shouldn't be in business. Strongly do not recommend, and honestly, I want my money back.

The staff always seem annoyed and anxious to kick customers out near closing. Regardless, I'll still keep coming back as it's worth dealing with in exchange for everything else being good. When it comes to thai food, I usually order the basics like pad thai and pad see ew. Both dishes were rich in flavor, perfect savory vs sweet, and not too greasy. I have a bit of a sensitive stomach when it comes to greasy food but their food satisfied my palate! Also their thai iced tea is INSANE as it comes with a popsicle so you're basically getting double the drink for only $7-8!? What a steal!!

The atmosphere feels rushed rather than relaxing, and the staff seemed eager to turn tables over as quickly as possible. We barely finished eating before it felt like we were being pushed out the door. On top of that, the parking lot is a complete cluster and adds unnecessary stress before you even walk inside. Between the chaotic parking situation and feeling rushed through the meal, it took away from what could have been a great dining experience. Good food, but the atmosphere and service style completely turned me off from wanting to come back.
