One of my Top 5 dining experiences of all time. Best clam chowder I've ever had, phenomenal lobster, fresh caught wahoo, and best cheesecake I've ever had. Two guys running the entire kitchen, and they are artists with the food! Wonderful service too. Don't expect fast food. Everything is cooked from scratch, and great food takes time. Last night in St Croix and it did NOT disappoint. The fresh catch of the day - the cod was fantastic!! Loved the open kitchen watching the chef coaching the younger chef. Staff is well trained. We both started with the clam chowder, which was as good as any I've had in Boston! The filet was juicy, nicely seasoned and cooked to perfection. The absolute best food we had on St. Croix. The bartender was super friendly, food was legit delicious. I had Mahi every day for 5 days at different restaurants (the only fish available on the island, it seemed), and this was the only time it was cooked well and seasoned properly. Everyone seems to overcook it, but this was perfect--not overcooked. Great wine list selected by a sommelier, and beautiful, comfortable dining room. A bit less expensive than other "nice" restaurants, but way ahead of them in deliciousness. read more

As a group of four we arrived at Hamilton's restaurant at our reservation time of 630, we were promptly seated. After the waitress told us about the specials we each ordered a cocktail and that is when things started to go down hill. It started with our cocktails being given to the couple sitting next to us, they fixed that. The couple was seated approximately 15 mins after us. We then ordered some appetizers, which were good and our meals. At about 800 the couple sitting next to us got their food even though they had arrived after us. We think two of our meals were given to the couple by mistake which started the whole cascade of events. Eventually our food came out, after us waiting for two hours and it was terrible. We ordered two of the 16oz Ribeye dinners(unknown cost), the lobster tail(60.00) and the the blackened filet mignon(48.00 + 12.00)We had asked if there was the possibility of making the filet meal a surf and turf, they obliged and added six shrimp to the filet meal for an additional 12.00. We sent one of the ribeye steaks back for being under cooked, the room temperature lobster tail was rubbery, bland, dry and had no clarified butter for dipping. The filet mignon was anything less than blackened and the shrimp were room temperature. The shrimp were the first to return to the kitchen, we never saw them again. The filet was the second to return to the kitchen to be fired(I assume placed back on the grill) The waitress apologized and told us that one of the cooks were new and that is "apparatus" wasn't working as it should. My friend, who ordered the filet, by this time was so upset that she left the table to wait outside, she never did get to eat. Her dinner consisted of 1 shrimp and a few bites of the filet. At this point it has been approximately 2 1/2 hours since our arrival time. One of the women working there, which we assumed was the manager, let the poor waitress handle this whole disaster. She came to our table once or twice and never tried to make things right. A majority of the interactions were with the waitress and her trying to fix the mistakes of the cooks. In my opinion the manager should have taken over before it got to this point. We were sent home with a Togo box with an essentially raw piece of meat and six shrimp. The waitress took about 60.00 of the bill but still ended up being 300.00, tip included. Most of us have worked in the food industry at some point in our lives and get that tips equal livelihood. We tipped her well and are fully aware this situation was out of her control. We are all Emergency Room nurses and expect a lot of patience and understanding from the people in our Emergency Rooms so we try to be the same in all situations. Do better Hamilton's read more

Simply amazing food and top of the line customer service! Seriously, the best meal on the island!

This was our first visit to Hamilton. The ambiance was nice, and the service was excellent. Now, for the meal, crab cake appetizer needed a larger proportion of crabmeat. It tasted like ground turkey patties. For the entree, we had the ribeye steak. It was excellent, seasoned appropriately, and cooked (medium well) to perfection. It was served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. We both enjoyed this part of the meal. We decided to round out the meal with dessert so we had the 'cheesecake'. It tasted like a flan-like dish. It lacked the smoothness of cream cheese. For drinks, we had the passion fruit mule, and that was refreshingly good. All in all, we enjoyed the experience. read more

Dining at Hamilton's was one of the highlights of our trip to St. Croix! Absolutely beautiful decor, beautiful food and drinks! We had a lobster casserole for an appetizer which was one of the finest foods I have ever tasted. The entrees were fantastic: seared ribeye and seafood pasta. Usually don't leave reviews, but this was MY FIRST bad experience at a restaurant on St. Croix. We informed our server that one member (who could not speak English) of our party that she could not eat pepper/spicy. The server assured us the chicken dish/rice was not spicy. None the less The rice came out with lots of pepper. We informed the server of the mistake. Instead of taking the dish back and correcting this mistake, they offered us a side of mash potatoes, which we accepted. The bill then included the dish no one could eat PLUS the side of mash, even after we told them the dish was wrong. After receiving the bill, I talked to a VERY rude manager, and after I complained for minutes she only comped the $8 mash potatoes. I understand servers make mistakes, but having a manager handle a mistake this way is unacceptable. Overheard the manager say to the server as she was sending the -$8 bill over say, "if they gonna fight you we have your back." It was totally inappropriate. I'm a raised Virgin Islander, I won't be back Hamilton's again. read more

Very disappointed with Hamilton's. We made reservations for four people. Very hard to locate because they have no sign, street number or entrance on the street that they say they are located on. We were seated at a table that had seats lower on one side than the other. The waitress than proclaimed that we would have our best meal in St Croix. She was wrong. First she tried to upsell us on water and seemed annoyed when we asked for plain water. We said we would have drinks or wine later but she never asked us again. We all ordered salads or apps and our entrees. The salads were embarrassingly tiny. The risotto was a small portion and just ok. The stuffed chicken was overcooked and dry and the stuffing was so over spiced with poultry seasoning and some sort of hot spice. The mahi-mahi was over cooked, over spiced and dry. The steak was cooked good and tasty. The waitress never came back and we had to flag her down for water. The restaurant was not at all busy yet after we were done we had to sit staring at our dirty plates for 20 minutes. When she picked up our plates we asked for our check. 10 minutes later she comes back and ask if we want dessert. We say no and she returns 5min later with the check. She then tells us 20% gratuity has been already added to our bill. No pleasantries were exchanged . We paid our $ 275 bill and will never return. It is a shame because it is a quaint place but lacks any form of customer service. read more

This place was excellent. It was classy and fabulous. The food was very good and worth the wait (about 1.5-2hours "island time"). I ended up getting resevations on their instagram DM and was offered 5 and 730, we chose the latter. Low and behold, by 630, we had run out of things to see (everything but restaurants close down early) and we walked in an they accommodated us, though the place was near full. I ordered one of the specials, tuna steak, and it was delish. My daughter had the 1/2 lb burger with truffle Parmesan fries (best fries EVER) and my son had a huge rib eye, with a knob of compound butter that they light, and it remains lit for quite some time. I literally watched the light drain out of my 13 year olds eyes as I started to sing him happy birthday. It's not his birthday, so he was unamused. My bf ordered the lamb and said it was good, but believed it may have been pressure cooked (would be an obvious necessity) and while it was a little dry, it was still good, so everything really was excellent, nonetheless. Desert was Oreo brownie w/ homemade vanilla ice cream and a passion fruit pasette w/ blueberry sorbet, berries and a shortbread cookie. Add two cocktails and our bill was 302 before tip. Which speaking of...our server was very good, lively and attentive, as was the host. Highly recommend if you are like us, where you mainly try to seek out local authentic fare, but want one really good upscale meal. read more

Went with friends. My steak wasn't cooked to how I ordered. One friends steak arrived incorrect as well. Another friends lobster tail was overdone. And the other friends steak/shrimp came out cold. Food was sent back and it took way too long to get it corrected. The woman who appeared to be the manager was aware of the issues and didn't seem to care. I was highly disappointed with this restaurant. I had been looking forward to it all week. For $300 you would think I'd leave full, we went back to our apartment and made a frozen pizza. We came upon Hamilton's quite by accident while driving by. We didn't have a reservation but were graciously offered two of four seats available at the bar. The bartender was a true professional and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. My husband ordered the hamburger, and I had the Mahi entree. Both were exquisitely prepared and delicious. A solo diner sitting next to us had the ribeye special and said it was perfectly seasoned and delicious. Our favorite restaurant while visiting saint croix! Suggested by our property manager we decided to give Hamilton's a try for dinner. The restaurant was warm and inviting. The staff very friendly and helpful and made us feel like we were the only people in the restaurant. The food was delicious! Apps: Mac n cheese, open face shrimp, "rice balls"(can't remember the real name), soup. Main meals: burger, filet, surf n turf, lobster, chicken dish...the plates that weren't finished during dinner were had for lunch the next day! Dessert: brownie, creme brûlée. Gone in minutes. The mixed drinks were delicious too. We went back the following night for a drink. The bartender who happened to be our waiter the night prior was still just as amazing and they were VERY busy. He made us a delicious blueberry basil drink...I should've ordered a bottle to go haha. Don't miss out on this place if you're in saint croix! read more
