Tourist trap! Two bunch of small snow crab legs (at market price) for $49. I ended up giving it to my 7 year old. The waitress didn't even bother giving us silverware for the table. 1 dz oysters were listed as $22. When bill came, $29. The family behind our table ordered 3 orders of snow crabs. Review during pandemic:oat staff were wearing masks, but of those most weren't covering their noses. We stopped by for lunch but ended up only having BamBam shrimp because the oysters weren't ready. We decided to go back at happy hour (4pm) where chargrilled oysters were $1/piece. We got there a little early and ordered our meal. Ours was probably the first order for oysters. The server came back and said the oysters weren't ready. That's the whole reason (twice) we came. She found out they'd be ready in 30 minutes so we kept our order. I think we waited a regular amount of time when all our foods came out including the oysters. They were yummy. First visit to this establishment. You are seated and use your Smart Phone to review the menu, order and then pay. The website does not allow you to make any changes to instead you have to flag down someone and tell them. No on site restroom. You leave the restaurant and use one near by. No handicap access and it needs to be serviced. One in the party ordered a cheeseburger and wanted some additional pickles. Got a funny look and it took some time for the two small pickles to show up. Our table had no napkins or eating utensils. We had to search for them while our food for cooler. Chicken fingers were small and not much chicken, but lots of breading. Salad was nothing to write home about. Oysters were small and expensive. Yep you pay taxes, a service fee and additional fees. We were all pleasantly surprised about how much we liked the food and what generous portions they gave us. With a location like they have it could be easy to thrive on that alone. I mean the views were awesome, the outdoor patio and live band made it a great hangout spot. I don't have a ton of detail to go into. It was a pretty straight forward meal. French bread, plain cabbage with dressing, tomatoes, pickles and fries. What makes it great is that the portions were very adequate and ensures you don't leave hungry and each ingredient was excellent quality. The flavor was super. I'd absolutely return again. read more

The seating area is very cramped and when we went it stared to rain and many table got up to take cover hit there really wasn't anyplace for them to go. Service left much to be expected. My review is based on Happy hour, which is 4-6 every day. Raw oysters on the half shell are 50cents each, grilled with butter and parmesan are $1 each, half price appetizers, and $2 off bottled beer and wells. We ordered a dozen raw and a dozen grilled. They are Louisiana oysters, and were average size this time of year, but very tasty. The grilled were good, but the granules of 'parmesan' which did not melt made me wonder what kind of cheese it really was, and it was salty, but still good. We also ordered a shrimp queso appetizer, which was okay, but could have had more shrimp. The location on the water on the open air patio with a view sure helped with the the ambiance, and our server was outstanding. I'm glad for that, considering most of the bad reviews were for lack of service. So we couldn't help going back the next day to another happy hour for those delicious 50cent raw oysters on the half shell. This time we tried the bang bang shrimp, $5. They were pretty tasty. Unfortunately the prices were so expensive compared to the amount of food you get. We ordered the grouper tacos - which were delicious - but probably smaller than a typical appetizer portion, maybe 3 ounces of fish total, and a small soufflé cup of cole slaw - that is all for $24! I felt I had not eaten dinner at all and our bill was almost $100 for 2 drinks and 2 orders of tacos. The server was very friendly and the view is great, but ultimately people want to feel that they are getting good food at a good price and this was just a rip-off to say the least. So I've been coming here for years and realized yesterday they changed their menu. Additionally, they obviously no longer have the Happy Hour deals. When we placed our order, we understood they changed their system and the dozen oyster special ($1.35 eaxh - Chargrilled Oysters and $.85 each - On a half shell would be adjusted; no pun on the waiter), but when our check came, it took them about 5 attempts to adjust the check. Based on the reviews, I had pretty low expectations. We are staying in the village complex and just wanted something nearby. There was a relatively long wait because they only had 3 wait staff working. After about 45 minutes, they were able to seat us. They did let us know that they were out of boiled shrimp and oysters. The servers all had masks, the host didn't, and neither did the kitchen staff. We sat us outside. The sat us away from people which was great, but before we even settled in they sat another table right next to us, even though there was plenty of space elsewhere. No biggie, we just asked to move to create more space and they were fine with that. The food: The kids shared the Mac & Cheese ($7) and the chicken fingers ($8) kids plates. My daughter didn't care for the Mac, but my son ate it up. It was just box Mac and cheese, but that's pretty normal unfortunately. They both likes the chicken fingers and the waffle fries. My wife got the grouper tacos ($17). It came with 3 nice sized tacos, tortilla chips and salsa. They were very good and filling. I know, because I ate the last one! I got the grouper sandwich with waffle fries ($17). I was very happy with my meal. I thought it tasted good and was a pretty large serving. Overall, I thought the food was good. The service was fine, and the value was ok. I'd like to go back and try their happy hour oysters ($0.50/raw and $1/cooked). Update: We went back for the happy hour. First time today. Service was bad, food was Expensive. $70 for 2 adults and 1 kid. Kid got chicken fingers, adults got cheeseburger, and gator nuggets. The gator nuggets are not even nuggets. We chose hammerheads simply because we were looking for outside seating beside the water and that's what they had. We walked in as a party of 5 and were seated immediately. Unlike most restaurants, the food, drinks, alcohol, and dessert are all ordered through QR code. There's no table side service here which could be an inconvenience if you need to ask questions or make substitutions. The greeter, Bob, stood in as everyone's waiter on this particular day...he was AMAZING! Out of the kindness of his heart he checked on each and every table, made small talk, helped with QR code ordering, refilled drinks, brought out food etc. Once he found out it was my daughter's birthday he threw in 2 slices of pie on the house! A slice of ultimate peanut butter pie and a slice of key lime. The key lime was good but the size of the slice wasn't worth the normal $8 charge. Bob is the reason for the 2 extra star rating, otherwise Hammerheads is really nothing special. The food came out quickly but was mediocre. In addition to that we ordered 2 grand margaritas ($12 each) which were pretty good. The only reason I'd make a return visit would be for the margarita and key lime pie. A service charge is added to the bill in addition to the tip. If there was a competition for the worst seafood in town, this restaurant would undoubtedly take home the gold medal! My experience here was so jaw-droppingly awful that I couldn't resist sharing my gastronomic misfortune with fellow seafood enthusiasts. Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by an overwhelming odor that can only be described as a cross between low tide at the beach and a stale fish market on a hot summer day. I should have taken that as a sign to run for the hills, but I braved the stench and decided to give their culinary offerings a fair chance. Oh, how I regret that decision! Let's start with the shrimp tacos. The tortillas were fair but the true calamity lay within. The shrimp, or what was left of them after a severe case of starvation followed by overcooking, were as tough as an old sailors boots. I've found barnacles with more tenderness. It could have been crustacean-flavored chewing gum. We also ordered the fish and shrimp combo. There was not enough fish to count a full order and it came with the same bad shrimp as the tacos. Masking poor food quality with mounds of fries seems to be their solution here. Basically $23 for a side of fries. I couldn't help but notice that every dish had something in common: a complete lack of seasoning. It was as if the chef had a vendetta against salt, pepper, and any other spice known to humankind. Perhaps they believed that the sea itself would imbue their dishes with flavor. Spoiler alert: It didn't. The service matched the quality of the food. The staff seemed disinterested, bored, and more focused on chatting amongst themselves than attending to the few unfortunate souls brave enough to dine here. It was as if they were aware of the horrors unfolding in the kitchen and had given up on trying to salvage any semblance of a decent dining experience. Several mistakes were made on our order and the beer was flat. In conclusion, if you have a hankering for some delicious seafood, do yourself a favor and swim in the opposite direction of this restaurant. Unless, of course, you enjoy culinary disappointment, flavorless seafood, and a complete disregard for your taste buds. But hey, at least it made for a memorable experience--one I'll be recounting for years to come, albeit with a shudder and a warning. Prices seemed fair on the menu at the beginning, but for a family of 5, the bill at the end was way too high for the little amount of food we had. They were very skimpy on the fried pickles appetizer. The only drinks from the bar were 2 margaritas which were overpriced, and they were watered-down , and the remaining drinks were sodas served in small plastic cups. The bill showed an automatic 20% service charge, a resort fee, and a surcharge, all which were unnecessary especially since the service was horrible, but hey, they have already obtained the service charge, so why do they have to provide good service, right?
