Average hotel but definitely the Homewood Suites next door is a far superior Hilton. Breakfast here is below average. Gym is far below average. Parking lot is poorly lit. Came here in July & September of 2022. Both times one of the two treadmills was broken. They didn't even have a sign that it was broken. Couldn't get it fixed in the 2 months?

This is about as nice a hotel/motel as you can find. Clean, quiet - even though it was sold out, in great shape from the carpets to the rooms, I would definitely stay here again. This time we only stayed for one night, but would have no issue staying longer. Breakfast is average and it was slow and that's why it won't get 5 stars, but that's to be expected nowadays. Their coffee was excellent, though. Recommend.

    Rags on floor.

I booked this Marriott property for (3) nights and it was an unbelievable experience from the moment I checked in until I checked out. This hotel is staffed with some wonderful professionals, the front desk is very friendly and accommodating and the hotel's restaurant and bar's staff is extremely attentive and provided some amazing food and beverages. I want to give a shout out to Shaun one of the best bartenders I've had the chance to meet in the area. I arrived at 3:00 PM and not knowing the parking situation I parked out front and paid for two hours parking, this was totally unnecessary but I didn't know - so save yourself a few bucks and drive around to the parking garage directly behind the hotel and drive to the lowest level and you'll have a safe and easy access through the hotel's courtyard - the front desk can validate your ticket and put it on your room (note to file there is no garage attendant between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM so the exit gate in the garage stays open during that time and there is security onsite. My room was just what I hoped it would be, the bedding and sitting areas were comfortable complete with a work station with updated electrical receptacles and USB ports, plenty of lighting to choose from and a mini-fridge and complimentary bottle of water is replenished daily. The bathroom was very clean and well lit and there was plenty of hot water and great water pressure plus a host of high end toiletries. This was my first time staying here but will definitely be my first choice going forward when staying in the Akron area. The location is very convenient and within walking distance to many of the downtown venues.

In the lobby, there's a marble staircase that splits into two. It's not huge, but it's there. And I bet it's better than what you've got. And it descends into a really awesome restaurant that's built on top of the river rapids and waterfalls and nature, and it's fantastic. And they keep the lights down low, so it's very romantic. The food is awesome too. It's a little expensive but not bad for the experience. The actual hotel has a 60-foot lap pool. It's not deep but swimming laps isn't an honorable use of time anyway, so don't complain about it. It's great for kids. They've got a fitness center if you want to actually do some exercise, and the fitness center overlooks the pool. Two things here: they have a sauna but it's out of order. I suspect it's been out of order for a looooooong time. And then the hot tub is also pictured on the site, but is now covered over. But you know, I guess that's kind of alright, because when the hotel was built, those were things, but in 2026, maybe we don't need to be that close to other people's butt cheeks in a confined space. The rooms are nice. Not like, Vegas-nice, but definitely more than National-Park-nice. And if you get a room facing the falls, you also get the white noise of the waterfalls, which is pretty awesome - not to mention the view of the falls. The hotel, being built along the side of the river, has many different views of the falls, from the restaurant and the rooms, to the deck of the pool, the attached bar, and the walking-path under the road to the plaza to the north. You can take this either way, and it can be a fun place to base a family trip out of, or you could spend a romantic weekend here. Or you could have a conference here. A romantic one even. o_O Finally, the people here are SUPER professional and helpful. I honestly think they're TOO professional. I'm just a common man. I don't need too much fanciness. They treated me like I was the president. Not the current president, but a decent president, and I shouldn't be treated like that. I just need the keys and I can wander around like an idiot and figure things out. They made sure I knew everything I needed to know, and then you're immediately super comfortable. This is a great place. Sometimes bad things happen. You can't listen to these reviews that are like "THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE I FOUND A CANDY BAR ON THE GROUND" somebody just dropped it there. The entire world isn't constantly monitored for your mild inconveniences. You didn't die. Move past it.

However, the property itself is unkempt and disappointing. I am an Ambassador Elite member, so in theory, this is as good as it gets. We stopped in around 4 PM on Friday to check in. The concierge was very helpful and friendly, offered us waters, as gave us our room keys. The elevators were broken so we carried our luggage up the stairs to the third floor. Elevator outages happen, it's certainly not ideal, but it does happen. When we got to our room, it became quickly apparent that this room had flooded very recently as all the equipment to dry the room was still in the room and actively drying the room out. I don't like to be overly fussy, at the end of the day a hotel is just for a couple night. However, within the first fifteen minutes it became very apparent that this was not going to work for a two night stay, given that the room was all around damp and the dehumidifiers were noisy and unpleasant. We took our luggage back down the stairs to the lobby and explained the situation to the concierge. She was once again very friendly and said she had forgotten that room was in process of being corrected after an incident - whatever that means I'm not fully sure - but she was very polite about everything and moved us to a room on the second floor. We took our luggage back up the stairs to the second floor, got to our room, and the entire front panel of the key card fob of the door was missing, which was definitely a little odd, and indicates the state of which the property is kept in, however, the door still worked. However, when we opened the door, there was another guest inside the hotel room. This was a little of an odd experience. The other guests explained the hotel had asked them to move rooms so that we could have the rooms - again not entirely sure what is going on here - but the other guest rapidly packs up their items and leaves us the room. We didn't look around too much, at properties like this I find it's best to not go looking for issues because you'll find them, we were just happy this one wasn't in process of being unflooded. However, later that night we got in bed, to find a sizeable amount of blood smeared on the wall by the bedside lamp. Overall, the staff was really friendly. I am aware this is a Residence Inn, it's not a luxury property, and you have to set your expectations accordingly. However, I think between walking into a flooded room, a room with a guest already in it, and blood on the wall, it fell beneath my expectations.

I learned this when I drove with him on Monday. You need to hear this story: I called when I landed in CAK airport asking if the property could send the airport shuttle as it is advertised to have. I heard the hesitation in Deon's voice and as he told me that there was an issue, but if I could give him 5 minutes, he'd call me back. I told him there was a different Marriot nearby and not to worry, I'd simply go elsewhere. He said, "no, don't do that ... just 5 minutes, I'm going to figure this for you sir". Whatever. That's cool. He sounded like he wanted to help and that's surely worth 5 minutes of my time for his investment in my problem. When he called me back, he said "Mr. Bain, our shuttle isn't yet in-service and I don't have anyone available to work the front desk for another few minutes, but I called one of my other workers to cover for me and I'm coming in my personal car to pick you up. This is the kind of can-do attitude that I look for when hiring on my team and really refreshing as the US, once known for its customer service, has surely waned over the years. On the drive, he shared with me the new role he has at the property and about how he sees opportunity to institute better processes at this and the others under the management company's umbrella he might be offered in the future. Thinking about process improvement in a hotel chains is generally as exciting to me as looking at my parent's photos of an antique store they once visited, but he was glowing about the opportunity; so much so, that I actually felt excited with him. That attitude + aspiration is a winning formula. I have little doubt he'll have a region or a district under his purview in 2-5 years. Kudos Deon. (Shower was cold, though and it's pretty loud near the highway)

The fans don't work and you get steam trapped in the room, which leads to mildew in all the corners of the tub and peeling paint on the ceiling. The tubs have an anti-slip bottom that doesn't quite get clean and now looks permanently stained and dirty. The rest of the room is standard Hampton Inn. However, because of the fan issue in the bathroom, the room easily becomes humid. So, you need to run the AC and thus the room stays cold. Note that we had two rooms because the woman working hotel reception admitted her incompetence and said she didn't know how to out me in the larger room for the first night. We had the same bathroom fan issues in both rooms and in our daughter's room.
